The 19 Best Restaurants In San Juan, Puerto Rico 2024

"You’ll find La Bodeguita hidden behind a back door, and the speakeasy vibes continue once you're inside. This popular local spot mixes Puerto Rican, Spanish, and Cuban flavors in a dimly lit, private setting. It’s a cool place to have drinks—the bar is stylish, with a couple of glass ceiling pendants and black and white tiles, and they have live music on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Settle in and start with the croquetas or patatas bravas and a bottle of wine. Then, try their cocas españolas, a Spanish flatbread—the ropa vieja or serrano options are both excellent." - adriana silva, tiffany yannetta

10/10 no notes. This place is phenomenal! I had the best meal of my entire life here. Every single thing here was touched by Angels! Our waiter, Don, was so knowledgeable and friendly. He makes AMAZING drinks! (Get the spicy Mule, you're welcome) The food was flavored sooooooo well. The chefs here set the precedent for Puerto Rican food and flavors. Everything here is well worth the price. This is what food is supposed to taste like! Fantastic job!!! And it has a speak-easy vibe that makes the ambiance even better. You will love the Mural of the owners father too!

This small, cozy restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with the added charm of a separate wine cellar, perfect for enjoying a glass (or two) with friends. The food was exceptional; every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made the evening even more enjoyable. The space is compact but well organized, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere without feeling crowded. However, due to the limited size, the ambiance can get quite loud when the restaurant is full and everyone is talking at the same time. The wine cellar, while a standout feature with its curated selection and warm vibe, could benefit from being quieter to enhance the experience. However, the high stools in the cellar, while stylish, can become uncomfortable after extended periods. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for a relaxed evening of great food and wine. Highly recommended for small gatherings or an intimate night out!

Inside Sobao panaderia. Intimate setting, great for a date or reunion with a small group. The staff was excellent and the food delicious - we had setas rellanans, patatas bravas, pollo estofado y camarones pizza, and piquillos rellanos. Those plates were all good as tapas to share. Each dish was carefully assembled and delicious. Very solid wine selection with bottles for all budgets - Heineken on draft, music on Thursday nights. This is a place worth trying

Fun place, great wines and drinks plus friendly service. Live music when I went. The musician was great and played long sets so it was very much fun. People sang along. Didn't eat this time but the food around me looked really good. Will nibble something next time.

It is good place to enjoy your breakfast, lunch or coffee break. The sandwich, cake, pastry, and coffee are excellent. The decoration of the bakery is awesome and the employees very kindly to take your order. Recommend.

Google
Hidden spot inside Sobao, very small space with tables very close to each other, food was mediocre, seems like a great spot for whiskey, and plenty of parking on a Friday lunch. We got the spicy tuna tacos, croquettas, and pork belly bao buns - ngl it's just ok. Vibe is cool tho.

Google
What a hidden gem. This place is situated in the back of the Saboa (which is also a good spot). Kind of a Speakeasy. Nice wine and liquor selection. The food menu was limited but it had everything you needed. I ordered the ribeye for two (cooked perfectly), with some croquettes caseras. Paired it with a Barrilito 3. Also, we arrived without a reservation. We were seated quickly, but you might want to call ahead.

Yelp
Always got a seat at the bar. The service was quick. The mojitos amazing! I usually get the octopus and a side of tostones - never a disappointment. I tried the duck and it wasn't awful but it didn't overwhelm me.

Yelp
We did not have a reservation and were fortunate enough someone cancelled last minute. The place was lively and fun. There is live music on Thursdays. The drinks, food, service, really everything was great. I would definitely go back with a reservation for a Thursday night.

Yelp
Bring a jacket. Place is freezing. AC at full power. Most of the people are wearing sweaters and long sleeves. That should tell the manager something. I had the mahi mahi. Best mahi mahi I've had in a long time. Very tasty.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat. We had a chrurrasco that was out of this world. Best thing? Wines are of a high quality, lots of options and super affordable(we had El Enemigo) stellar service. Small and crowded so make sure you reserve in advance. Nice atmosphere and live music. Well recommended!

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in San Juan. Service, food and ambiance makes it the best choice ever!!! They change its menu every three months, one of the points that makes me come back again, wondering what's going to be the new delicious surprise they have for me! Don't forget to ask for the patatas bravas.

Yelp
We went based on the reviews and they were right!!! It was amazing. Great service and the food was amazing. We had the empanadas and were the best empanadas ever! A must try. The ropa vieja cocas were good but not like the empanadas. The sangria was also amazing. I will go back to try more menu items! Came back almost a year later while visiting. Their patatas bravas were amazing and I had lamb chops that were outstanding. Definitely consistent good food.

Yelp
This place is now known as "Sobao -by Cidrines". Had two soups: chicken (texture and taste like from frozen food or can) caldo gallego (same). Bread for both did not arrive. Had to go ask for it, ticket in hand. Empanada (meat and plantain) was not served either (also went ticket in hand) and was average in taste. Media Noche sandwich: average. Too pricey for quality of service and quality. I don't plan on visiting again. I'd much rather go to Panadería España or La Ceiba. They seem to have a following here. I wonder if they lost or never developed a taste for good food.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING!! Go there. The food was wonderful, the wine super. So many labels to choose. And the service was so good. We loved the bread, the salad and the main dishes are just over the top! I wish they would come to Arizona. B/C I would go at least once a week! The atmosphere was so good, fun, and very good decor.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place in the San Juan metro. Tucked behind the back of an unassuming bakery, LA Bodeguita de Manolo has an awesome space and killer food. The cocktail selection and execution are excellent, which is really a distinguishing factor for the area. Each tapas style dish was a great blend of contemporary foodie cuisine with local elements, and the bill was surprisingly reasonable. Super busy staff managed to be friendly and attentive somehow. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
I thought that I would try a new place and one that is not only new to me but relatively new in the area with not too many reviews yet. They had plenty of tables, though it they were busy. The service was attentive and friendly while the food was very good.

Edneira M.

Yelp
Tapas are Excellent! Nice environment for couples and group as well! They have a private Cava Room that you can reserve with a huge variety of wines! Customer service is exceptional!!

Yelp
I've always been a Los Cidrines fan so when I returned home from Florida I had to come here and see what all the fuss was about. They do offer valet parking at their left side parking lot. The small restaurant itself is located inside the bakery towards the back. The decor has a very small tavern feel and the small amount of tables makes it feel more quaint. They have live music for you to enjoy. Unfortunately I was sat a little too close to the speakers and made it very hard for me to converse with the rest of my party. The food was delicious. The menu seemed to be printed daily and serves tapas. The dishes are small so order a couple to share. I'd give this place 5 stars but our server was SO SLOW. Someone needs to re-train Daniela on her server duties. We had to ask around multiple times for her when we wanted to order. A true gem for you to enjoy.... just make sure you get a different server.

Yelp
Very nice. Very good for Spanish tapas and food. It a very small place so getting a table sometimes is not easy. However, the quality of the food and of the service is very good.

Yelp
The food is pretty good and the ambience is nice, although the room is a bit chilly. Live music starts around 7pm I had the filet minon which has candies onions (so good!!) and truffle oil (which is a bit strong). My steak was was not particularly tender and unfortunately was cooked medium well instead of rare. My side of tostones was great and had a tomato chimichurri to dip. For dessert I had the tiramisu. It was excellent and a nice twist with a brownie in place of the lady fingers. Overall the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Staff is very attentive and friendly.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. It is situated in a very commercial area but the food is awesome. Do not forget to order the tapas and enjoy great great place ************

Yelp
This is a cozy place full of great flavor and excellent service! The concept is ideal for everyone; they have delivious tapas, and plates that you can't find anywhere. I think that the most famous tapas would be the Croquetas de jamon, which indeed are delicious. Try the Churrasco and/or any fish of the day, you won't regret it. Enjoy!
