Always an enjoyable experience! The lunch specials are a staple must try! The food is always great here. Bren coming here for the last 8 years and never disappointed. Come here hungry and enjoy these great portions of food. The prices are great for the portions! For lunch specials get there early enough or it may be pot scrapings. Menu online! Great for families or dining alone. Staff is friendly and tentative.

This place is excellent, I have been going to this restaurant for the past 25 years. And it has always had the same great service and food quality.

An excellent steak house and Columbia dishes- tasty food with reasonable price and friendly and fast waitress service. There are many bargains combo dishes in low $20s, and they come with salad, various types of French fries or potato, rice with or without beans.

never getting food from here again, doesn’t even taste like steak, i ordered medium rare aswell and got well done, smh, :( AND !! the menu says $30 and they charged my man 40.... no way tax is 1/3 of the price loooooollllllll. i never leave reviews but i just had to w this one. next time i’m waiting for applebees to open.

Always great service, food is delicioso! Have not been here in s long time. I introduced my friend to the Entrana steak dish. He loves it and loves me! UPDATED 5/01/2024. Ordered the Colombian Breaded Fish Filet with tostones and salad, minus the white rice. Substantial price increase. The weight of my take out mean from this favorite restaurant seems lighter than usual. Hope the quality and taste remains. Been a while. Thanks.

I love Queens for the tasty gems sprinkled everywhere. We found this place by accident. It was ridiculously good and the price was like a third of it'd be in Manhattan.

I came to eat here on Fourth of July with my father in the afternoon around 12 PM, the waitress was really sweet and greeted us with a warm welcome. She let us pick the table of our choosing and handed our menus immediately. Since we already ordered from this restaurant many times for delivery we already knew that we wanted to try the puttanesca in person. No shocking it was absolutely delicious! we ordered it medium well with rice and french fries. (The meal comes with rice, beans and your choice of French fries, tostones or yuca frita) For drinks we both got fruit drinks which were so tasty! I've tried a lot of mora con leches around Jackson heights but this one stands out for sure. They make it with the right consistency, flavor, not too sugary, and not too milky! I definitely wanna come back here and try more options!

I tried the Superbandeja La Boina and what a treat! At first I was skeptical of the quality given 4 meats, and when the dish arrived, I was worried I would be able to finish so much food! I gave the waitress a concerned look, she replied with the you-can-do-it smile. I took a deep breath, and started chiseling away. Right off the bat, the Chicharron was superb, one of the best I've had. The steak and chicken both exceeded expectations, and was even better when you add their chimichurri and hot sauce. The pork chop was a little tough, only got through half. Had some avocado, egg, mixed some rice and beans, and repeat. By the time I started to slow down, I was pretty much done the whole thing. Only then did I understood the genius of the dish, and why it was so popular. Had this restaurant been a buffet, I would have done exactly this, a huge mashup of meats with multiple sides. And it was delicious. Hunger and tastebuds, both fully satisfied.

Came here with three others on a Saturday at 6PM and was seated immediately. We ordered sangria for the table and it was delicious. I ordered the superbandeja and it huuuuge. I shared everything that came on my plate with the rest of my party and still left stuffed. I can't remember what everyone else ordered but everyone cleared their plates. Would definitely come back again for the great food and fast service.

Well worth the price for their food!!! They have different options of bandeja paisa all around the $15-$17 price range. Depending on what you choose, it has different cuts of meat. The superbandeja (501) was very worth it and had the most cuts of meat minus the chorizo. The chicken in the superbandeja was surprisingly the star for me! Also had the campesina and that came with a chorizo which I really enjoyed. All the bandejas come with a salad with a pretty generous slice of avocado, arepa and sauces. There's a salsa/spicy sauce, French dressing and chimichurri! Also ordered the yuca fries which I highly recommend either airfrying when you get home or eating it on the spot LOL

We visited this restaurant cause they had good reviews. I'm not sure why the reviews are so high. The food is mediocre at best. It's edible but this is far from a steak house. Service was okay. Food was okay. A little bland. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would get very typical dishes on the go. I'm from out of town and wanted to show my wife what queens had to offer. Sadly I'll have to try again.

Came here with a group of friends craving Spanish food and this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything was so good especially the plantains with guacamole. What a combination that was! DELICIOUS!

We went to eat today for lunch and the truth was that I was disappointed in this place. The food had no flavor at all, at least what I ate. My wife ordered a calentado with meat. The meat did not have any kind of flavor. other than that they charged me a 20% tip I think tipping is voluntary here in New York City when there are less than six people and there were only two of us so I paid $64 for me that's a lot for two dishes that didn't have any kind of flavor will never come back

This spot is not just your average Colombian restaurant, right next door they also own a butcher shop with all the popular Latin condiments and other Colombian yummies. While this wasn't our first trip to this spot, it's definitely one of the nice places were the taste is consistent. It's not the biggest place and when you visit, you will more than likely have to wait to be seated though they do take reservations as we found out. It's a cozy place and to be kind, it might feel a bit cramped to some. The food.... I started with "Tostones de Coco",th.is was basically tostenes (fried plantains) with a seafood garlic sauce consisting of shrimp, calamari, scallops and imitation crabmeat in creamy translucent garlic sauce. This is one of my favorites whenever I come here, it is so damn tasty. The idea is to dip the tostones into the sauce creating a incredibly delicious combination. I also ordered the "Parrillada A La Boina" which was a grilled meat platter consisting of shell steak, skirt steak, sliced beef short ribs, chorizo (Colombian sausage) and morcilla (blood sausage). The sides that's included was a simple salad, rice and beans and fried cassava. To drink I had Sangria, which may I add was surprisingly great. Everything we had was great, the meats were fresh and well seasoned, the fried cassava was really fresh. I really enjoyed the food at this spot and I intend on returning. The only issues I had was as I mentioned above was the seating and how cramped some people might feel, though it's not a reason not to try this place. The other is if you're driving parking will be an issue as 37th Ave in Jackson Heights is a shopping area.

We ordered so much food and it was quiet good. The avocado with the green plantains was fresh but the guac needed salt. The calamari was crispy and had a unique tomato sauce with it. This place is totally about their meat as it should be. The steak is juicy and light on flavor so the sides can be appreciated. As for the grilled chicken I would not recommend it because I could taste the grill marks so even though the chicken was juicy it was impossible to finish because it had a bitter taste. On the other hand the chicken with mushroom sauce was very tasty. The cream was buttery and rich. The mushrooms added a nice bite to the chicken. The rice that came with the meals was very tasty. Buttery and sweet it's great on its own. The pallea was also very good and was filled with seafood. Mera's Tip: enjoy this steakhouse with family.

I have ordered many times from this place. Just do not order off the menu. Do not create your own. They screw up the order half the time. The food is good but if you make up your own menu they will screw it up most likely. Their steak many times has too much sinews and fat so be careful with that too.

If you're in the mood for Colombian food then you should give this place a shot. Portions are very decent. The food is savory and condiments help with giving it the extra seasoning it needs without being too salty. Fried beans are made fresh and not canned. These were delicious!! I'll be back to try their other dishes.

Good food, that hasn't changed. Brought a friend who lives in city for a 'queens' restaurant. He was impressed, and ate everything (big steak). They can grill really well, and food quality is great. Had the sangria which was good. Only thing I was surprised with was the mandatory tip that they added, and we were just two people. I usually like to decide how much service should be rewarded, it not a given. Most importantly, my friend and I had a great meal.

Came to this establishment with friends who live in the neighborhood. Since they call themselves a steakhouse, we ordered steak hoping for some tasty delicious steak. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. The steak is tough even when you order it medium or medium rare. The appetizer we ordered was delicious, but that's all I can vouch for. Here is what we ordered: Appetizer- I forget the name, but it's tostones with guacamole and grilled shrimp; this was the best dish from there Entrana- steak was tough, barely any seasoning, had to dip vigorously in that hot sauce; comes with rice and beans (mediocre) and your choice of yuca fries, french fries, plaintains Steak with onions/mushrooms- my friend ordered this and it was okay Fried Red Snapper with seafood- you will get the fish's head on your place with cheese. This seemed enjoyable when consumed by my friend. Bandeja special- steak, pork chop, chicharron, rice and avocado This restaurant is not reasonably priced for what they have to offer. Expect steak dishes to be over $20. Sauces come in little containers even if you are dining in. I wouldn't come back.

I was SO excited to finally try this place. Whomp whomp. Not great at all. The service was good but the food was not. Meat was so tough, rice was BLAND, however the fried yuca was good. $8 piña coladas. Yes please. And those were delicious! Decor and ambiance. Meh. Oh and it was FREEZING. Intolerable.

Piles and piles of meat. Came hungry with a group of Latinos after a mid-summer running race, and La Boina Roja didn't disappoint. Ordered la bandeja labriego platter, and it arrived steaming, and piled high with meat, meat, and meat - chicharones, roast pork, and Colombian sausage - alongside a fried egg, beans, and rice. Quite a sight to behold! Only downside is that the meat itself is a bit overcooked and on the dry side, and somewhat undersalted (even the sausage). Perhaps this is how Colombians do it, or they're doing all of us hypertensive people a favor. Surprisingly good is the jug of white sangria. Yes, a white sangria seems an oxymoron (red wine = blood?), but this exhibit included a healthy dose of passionfruit pieces which really brought the zing. Would go back and order the more obscure parts of the menu. And add some salt.

We found this Traditional Colombian while wandering down 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. The service was spectacular as the restaurant was busy and there was only one server. As a result it took a while to get our meals which consisted of parillada, skirt steak and lomo. The steak was underdone but quickly fixed by being sent back to the kitchen. The food was good, not great but the prices were very reasonable. The win win was the young lady serving all the occupied tables. This is a cash only establishment which can be a challenge when you don't know in advance. They do accept quick pay and have an ATM on sight.

The tostones with guacamole was so good we put in a second order. I personally like my tostones on the thinner side and that's just what they had. For food, I ordered Superbandeja La Boina which includes some staple items like pork belly, round steak with rice and beans. This is what I usually order when I go to a Columbian restaurant and it wasn't bad. The pork was a little too crispy to where it was almost brittle and the steak was a little chewy. Overall, if you're hungry I would come here for big portions and decent prices but in terms of flavor I wouldn't put too much on this particular dish.

If a Chinese TakeOut sells Pepper Steak, will it name itself China Steak House? La Boina Roja should be ashamed, for calling themselves a Steakhouse! What the F* happened to you guys? The prices went up & The quality of there food has taken a nose dive for the worst. The food taste OLD & the steaks are always over cooked or burnt. Not to mention it's unsanitary to handle money, food, ice & drinks without gloves or washing yours hands at the same time! This place is outdated & unsanitary! Be careful of the individually packaged sauces, they been in those cups for way Toooooo Loooong. This spot is officially DEAD TO ME!!!!!!

For drinks, I ordered a glass of red sangria. Much needed on a Friday evening and pretty strong, served with apples and cherries. For appetizer, we ordered the shrimps with guacamole & fried plantians. Great taste and chunky guac yum. It was the size of an entree for only $17.95. For entrée, we order the combination platter which consisted of skirt steak, blood sausage and chorizo which also came with beans & rice and fried cassava. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly since I asked for medium rare. We also ordered chicharrón con arepa and arepa con queso. The chicharrón was nice and chewy, not dry & flavorful. The queso didn't cover the whole arepa but it still tasted perfect with the guac and rice & beans. The total bill only came out to be $61 and some change. We couldn't even finish all that food between two people. I saved the skirt steaks and made tacos the next day! Great deal! Delicious food & amazing service :) I would definitely be recommending this place to my friends!

It's my favorite restaurant in Jackson Heights, food it's amazing, the soups remind me of my mother's. About yesterday's review from another person it makes no sense, Because the way you handle your food at home after you get your delivery it's not the restaurants responsibility! Under Health department regulations, you cannot leave any food at the counter at room temperature. It should be at 175 grades an over for hot food or 41 grades for cold food!

As a Colombian I'm very critical of any Colombian restaurant. However this restarant even beats my mom's cooking. I have been coming here with my family for almost 20 yrs now and I have tried probably most of their menu. We have celebrate many birthdays here apart from coming often for no special occasion especially for breakfast. I know I'm bias but Colombians make the best breakfast. I have never had any complains about the food. Everything here it's delicious, super fresh and huge portions. My favorite two dishes here are the filet mignon, which you get two decent pieces wrapped in bacon for less than $25. Frijoles Antioquenos, which is like a red bean soup with fried pork belly, rice and avocado. Since they own the butcher store next door you know that all the meat cuts are good quality and fresh. The service here it's great and they treat us like family, maybe because they been seeing our family for years :) Now let's talk about the red sangria, it's not weak so if you are a light weight take it slow. Their sangria it's really good and it will get to you if you don't pay attention. If all that food wasn't enough I always end my meal here with some flan, it's not the best flan around but it's decent.

Hands down the best Colombian restaurant in the neighborhood. Located directly next door to a butcher shop, their cuts are always fresh and lean. I am a fan of the skirt steak, with rice, beans and fired yuca. As an appetizer I strongly suggest the tostones al coco, and as a tip, order an extra side of tostones to go with it. The service is bar none, and as far as drinks goes, their sangria is off the chain.

Was hungry after waking from a hangover. Decided to go to Boina Roja Steakhouse. Best Colombian restaurant in all of NYC. Ordered the Superbandeja La Boina. Comes with steak, pork chop, chicken breast, pork belly, fried egg, rice & beans, salad, and sweet plantain. I'm 260 lbs. and eat like a horse. Not even I could finish this meal. Been going here since they first opened and thankful they are half a block from my apartment. They are open for takeout and delivery during this coronavirus outbreak. Weekend is almost here, buy some wine, order the superbandeja or any of the other items from their menu and you will not be sorry.

I have been coming here for a good number of years now and it is one of my favorite Colombian restaurants. Their soups are out of this world and their lunch prices are very decent. The service is not always that great but the food is always on point. I would definitely recommend trying the soups, tostones with guacamole and their bandeja paisa.

Good thing I reserved a table for dinner last night because it gets pretty crowded especially on a Saturday night. Me and my friends sat at a table in front of the house separated from all the other tables, which was nice that way we don't have to yell across the table. The servers brings out a lot of dressings and sauces to our table...does it mean the food needs a lot of added flavors! Food: I ordered Chicharron Con Arepa (It was thee most disgusting thing that I ever got in my life. I wasn't able to cut it with two knifes because it was super deep fried. And seriously you call this an Arepa...its suppose to be stuffed in the Arepa) w/a glass of Red Sangria (very strong and just bits of red apples) I tried to explain it to our server but she couldn't comprehend what I was saying so I was frustrated and dropped the subject. One of my friends ordered the Churrasco S/Fereno - medium rare (the steak was cooked in perfection and very tender) w/a glass of Red Sangria, side of yuca fries, rice and beans My other friend ordered a Mixed Salad (big portion size) and Chorizo Con Arepa (very dissatisfied and unappealing) Our server was quite annoying and hovering over our table! Don't waste your $$$ because the food quality sucks except for maybe steak dishes. You can find way better and tasty food elsewhere.

The place had quaint feeling to it, made you feel like you were in a small house somewhere in Medellin, Colombia. The service was mediocre, well lets be honest who really wants to work new years day lol. To start they serve a small salad. We ordered the shrimp with guac and tostones to start. The plastic forks that came along with it was a little strange but nonetheless was definitely a good choice to start. I ordered the Churrasco S/Fereno which came with roasted potatoes. The portion was definitely generous and cooked exactly as I asked. The steak was covered with a red sauce and onions which was a pleasant surprise. My girlfriend ordered Entrana and her portions were generous as well. Both plates came out sizzling and very flavorful I cant forget the pitcher of passion fruit of sangria we ordered. A definite must try if you're going to grab any food here. It was moderately strong but after a two glasses you will feel it. Overall the food was good, the decor was lacking some oomph and bill was moderate.

My mom is a huge fan of this place so I went in and ask for a chicken churrasco and I brought it back to her at home , when she open the chicken smelled like a garbage truck rotten and that's to say the least we both almost vomit from the smell of this . So I walk back to the restaurant and I challenge the manager to smell the chicken and he has the nerve to tell me it's good this is good . I ask for my money back and left the place . Please do not eat here , and if you do check your food before you go home .

I went to La Boina Roja Steak House for a late dinner. They seated us promptly and were attentive, taking our orders and serving our food in a timely manner. However, the food was average. I had the bandeja campesina, which came with chicharron, steak, and chorizo as well as an egg, avocado, rice, and beans. The chicharron was a bit too fried for me. It was extremely crispy, requiring lots of chewing. The steak was overcooked, and dry for my liking. That being said, the food still tasted good. Overall, La Boina is a casual restaurant in Jackson Heights -- not upscale, but not a hole-in-the-wall.

Having recently moved back to New York I'm determined to take advantage of all the cuisines available to me that I perhaps may have neglected before. Thus I was very motivated to try a Colombian restaurant this weekend. After several minutes of Yelp Research I decided on La Boina. So I was very excited that when we showed up there the place was completely packed...a good sign. Anyway we were told that it would be about 15 to 20 minutes and we could wait outside. The place is pretty small and we were in the way of the servers every way we turned. They have a few chairs on the sidewalk so we decided to wait out there. After about what seemed like 20 minutes we saw a group of people leave so we went in to get seated. We were told another couple of minutes and we would get seated. This turned into another 10 minutes as we awkwardly tried to avoid the servers zooming past us. Finally we were seated and guess what.....we waited. After an unreasonable amount of time our waiter finally decided to come take our order. We placed our order and requested some water. Which we still had not been offered. We got our salads yet no water. Second request and they obliged. Okay so the food. My husband and I both ordered the steak as it seemed the thing to get. Once we placed our order the food came pretty quickly and I have to say it was pretty good. The steak was well cooked and flavorful. The sides were ok. I would usually jump at the opportunity for flan but decided to forgo for a better option at a place next door. Overall I was not all that impressed and will continue my search for a better Colombian food experience.

This place is phenomenal. My best friend (who is Colombian) highly recommended this place for their great food and meats. Now I know why!!! My boyfriend and I were eating on a budget so we picked the bandejas off of the tipicos. These platters may have had the cheaper cuts of meat but definitely not lacking in flavor. My boyfriend and I devoured our bandejas. My boyfriend picked the super bandeja and it was totally worth it for 15 dollars you could have a deliciously crunchy fried chicken cutlet, juicy pork chop, round cut steak, chicharron. Every bandeja comes with rice and beans, avocado, and a over easy egg. Literally enough to feed 2 or 3 people, or if you have no shame... all by yourself in one sitting. We are already planning our next visit back.

Tax in nyc is 8.875%, they charged more. Secondly there was only 2 of us yet they charged us the automatic gratuity of 18% (the 18% is fine but from what I understand it is normally added to receipts for parties of 6 or more). Please check your receipts.

This place has the allure of of 5 stars with its long waits and busy weekends. The food is not that spectacular but it's one of the places that has nicer decor and tablecloths in the area (illusion of 5 stars by comparison). The staff is friendly and they do serve steaks ( which is okay). There are better date night places in the area. The frijoles are a bit bland and the soups are okay. I prefer going to the butcher next door (same owner) and cooking my own food or getting these guys on delivery. Favorite Item on the menu -- Lengua (cow tongue). One of the few Colombian places that make it with a mushroom sauce. It's usually served with both tender and tough pieces, so know you are playing a bit of tongue roulette.

Came to have dinner with my family tonight. Ordered a créame of mushrooms soup which I instantly realized had been made with expired milk because the smell was so repugnant and strong. I returned it and patiently waited for the garlic sauce salmon I had order which was NOT salmon. It did not smell or taste like salmon and was filled with spine bones. Do not recommend it at all.

It's true ...you can't go wrong with anything you order here....breakfast.. lunch...dinner..even their coffee is phenomenal... But for some reason I really...really adore the soups....they are hearty..stick to your ribs comfort soups that soothe your soul. If you plan on getting some soup for dinner good luck...they almost always run out by dinner time. But if you call them in advance they will save some for you(the waitress kindly told me after going there 2 days in row after work, and coming out empty handed)

This is the best Colombian Food in Queens !! Better than anything else ! Food well cook , great presentation and family friendly and will not break your pocket. Every person i have recommended this place they love it

A friend took me here and let me just tell you this food is NO JOKE GOOD! -skirt steak = good -tostones with guacamole = the best -breaded chicken = good -rice and beans = yummy -sweet plantains = just the way I like them I have only been to this place a couple of times but I'm happy I was introduced to it. So far so good with all I've eaten from here and recommend this place to anyone. The dishes can get a little pricey though especially for this area but what can you do? Food is delicious, Enjoy!! =)

I love this Colombian steakhouse! My favorite is the bistro encebollado, with rice, beans, platano and salad. The prices are good here as well.

I had really high hopes for this "steakhouse" #1- came in and no one greeted us or even said anything about wait time. About 15 mins to get seated. #2- server that we got at first was friendly, about half way into the order we started noticing his attitude (rushing). Then they changed to a waitress which was really nice and explained a couple of dishes, she made a couple of recommendations. #3-apparently we didn't read the fine print on the menu, but the dish my GF got was $49 dollars, extremely high for a dish. She didn't like what she paid for (we felt ripped off) a total bill of $115 for a cheap steak & lobster. Definitely not worth it...will never come back.

Authentic Columbia steakhouse. Order the lunch specials if you are on a budget! I ordered the Saturday special: chicken soup. It has chicken, peas, potato, and was sprinkled with cilantro right before serving. So delicious! Try it if you happen to be here for Saturday lunch =] This place gets crowded. Be ready to wait 20 mins when it's busy.

La Boina was everything you want from an authentic Colombian restaurant!!!! Their beef empanadas were soooo good!!!! We started with two and ended up ordering four more. The super bandeja was very good too. We shared that between two of us. The pechuga a la plancha was great as well and we chose salad and tostones with that. The service was good as well. Everyone's food came out correctly and pretty fast. I will definitely go back to La Boina Roja next time I'm in Queens.

My husband and i went on a snowy day. They were open and close to home so that's what we wanted. The place is a step up from your ordinary colombian restaurant. A tad more fancier. The waiter spoke english. That was a plus. The food turned out to be good. I got exactly what i wanted and what I expected. Would definitely return.

Anything you order here will be fresh cooked to perfection and you will love it I had a steak and shrimp w corn sauce special It was something new and amazing !!!! Also order tons of other stuff and was all good Great service great atmosphere fresh food Always packed

I usually love this place but I just had a HORRIBLE experience. I ordered the sancocho de res for lunch today. I ate half and left the other half out to feed my daughter when she got home. When I went to serve it later I noticed that the tip was warped. I found it strange but just assumed it could be because if the steam from when it first arrived. I warmed up the soup and put it on the table for my daughter. Thank goodness my daughter didn't start eating it right away and it sat there for a little longer. In that time the soup gave up a bad smell and began activity bubbling! HORRIBLE! My mother stopped by to tell them what happened and the woman who spoke to her was very rude and said they made their soup today. That's it. I will NEVER order or eat there ever again. Not just because the food was bad but I'm worried it could hurt me and/or my family. I'm hoping I won't get food poisoning but we shall see.

This restaurant doesn't deserve a star. We had ordered food for Christmas eve and had to wait for our food for a little more than 2hrs at the restaurant. We had people waiting in our home for the food and some of them had to leave hungry Will never order food from this place.

Been here many times. Tonight it was so busy we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table for four. Ordered the standard - appetizer special shrimp with fried green plantains with guacamole. If this is on the special, we always get it. It's delicious and fresh everytime And as always, the pepper steak is so good. Great piece of meat and yummy sauce. Definitely one of the best steak restaurants around and one of the best Latin restaurants around. Check it out when you are around
