La Bonita is the best. Service is phenomenal, burritos + tacos are delish and I appreciate the new vinyl booth upgrades at the division location! Took off one ⭐️ due to the recent discontinuation of the habanero salsa. It was AMAZING!! I hope they bring it back soon. The new salsa is good but doesn’t hit the same. You feel me?

Google
Great portions with delicious, authentic food! I had a chorizo breakfast burrito with added mole, and it was divine. Super great salsa (creamy habanaro carrot, I think?) Made this an extremely memorable meal! Chilaquiles were on point, and Horchata was flavorful, without being too sweet like most places. I definitely recommend this low key joint, especially for brunch (they open at 11) if the nearby "hot places" like Fair Weather or Broder Cafe are packed (1 hr wait like we had). Also -- They have AMAZING house made tortillas available for purchase to go, so grab some on your way out!

As a half Italian/Indian I might not know the most about Mexican cuisine. But as someone who’s had Italian food I’ll say that the red sauce kinda just tastes like marinara, and adding marinara on a burrito and charging 4 dollars is pretty wild. That being said the burrito was pretty decent and the side sauces weren’t too bad either.

So good! Great casual Mexican restaurant. Got breakfast burritos to go recently, excellent. Love their salsa selection, too.

Google
I've been to and love the other locations...This one hides a bit but don't miss out on it! The food is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the fajita burrito and you can add chicken or protein to it if you want for just a bit more! IT IS BOMB! The chili relleno is also FIRE and a must try! The staff is always nice and seems excited to see repeat customers too...So take advantage of their punch card and also try the guacamole with some chips...it will keep you coming back for sure!

Google
Was looking forward to some pozole for a while.. I am so disappointed this was the place I tried some at. Had zero flavor, I had to add salt and super greasy. Normally it's served with a good amount of shredded cabbage. I got a tiny little pinch of iceberg lettuce. REALLY?? who's terrible idea was that?? I will never return to this place. Wish I could get a refund.

Google
There is nothing but good things to say about this place. The chilaquiles are amazing, love their tacos, and their portions are generous. Their margaritas particularly the Jamaica one are great too! Highly recommend! Try going early as it is usually packed.

Google
The BEST burritos! I bet everything else is great, too, but I may never know, because their homemade flour tortillas are so incredible that I’m just still working my way through the burrito options. Take out is fast, everyone is super sweet both on the phone and in person, and prices are great—about the average burrito price for an extremely above-average burrito!

Yelp
Went for a quick business lunch. Right off the bat the staff were so friendly. And efficient. It's a Mexican diner/taqueria. So nothing fancy in terms of ambiance but plenty of seating, both tables and booths. I had the Adobado burrito la Bonita (smothered) and it was great! And huge. I couldn't finish it. Would definitely go back to try the tacos and the margaritas.

Yelp
I had the chicken burrito bowl without beans and a side of chips. I enjoyed the chicken because it was moist, tender and seasoned well! I loved that there was a good amount of meat, not too much rice or cheese and a good amount of shredded lettuce. Overall this is a solid place and I would return for another lunch meal. Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10

Yelp
Best chicken enchiladas I've ever had! It was very clean and the women that made our drinks made them with love!

Yelp
We had lunch the other day here. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to come grab your food when it's ready. The inside has a few booths and tables. They've got lots of different salsas that you can serve yourself. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a garden veggie taco and a grilled fish taco. Not sure which one I enjoyed more-- they were both great! Both actually very filling and flavorful. The only thing I wish is that they would give you a handful of complementary chips to go with that salsa bar :) My husband got a chicken burrito and it seemed pretty typical. I would definitely recommend sampling their tacos... I will be trying more and will update my review!

Yelp
This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. The best "Carne Asada Plate", the most delicious home, hand made tortillas and the "Micheladas"... spectacular! Lovely customer service and so convenient location. My number One Mexican eatery in Portland now.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is massively underrated. Perhaps the best casual Mexican food in Portland, definitely the best breakfast burrito I've had here. Outstanding pozole. Have things that I don't often see at other restaurants (quecas, chimichangas, suadero, chile relleno).

Yelp
If you are transgender, you may want to avoid this place. A person from the back came out and was really angry with me about my dog, who was in an enclosed pet carrier, and told me that there was a sign on the door that says no pets. She said this is why she was angry. After leaving, I looked at the door, and there wasn't any sign about that at all. After leaving my pet outside like she asked. I pointed out that there was no sign on the door, so her anger was not warranted. She flipped out and got really angry at me and yelled at me. She was one of the cooks, so I felt like there could have been spit or other things in my food mostly just because she was giving me an angry look from the moment that I walked in, and she raised her voice at me twice in public. Would not recommend

Yelp
This was our first experience at La Bonita. We parked around the corner as the street parking was limited and full. The restaurant itself is fairly small and has 6 or 7 tables. Staff was very attentive and came to take my order and assist us immediately. Placed our to go order of a carnitas quesadilla and asada burrito. I got various hot sauces from their hot sauce bar. Food came out about 10 minutes later. We were home and plated in 15 minutes. The asada burrito was pretty good - good flavors and nice balance of meat, beans and rice. It wasn't huge and reasonable sized for a lunch. The carnitas quesadilla was good sized and the carnitas had really good flavor. UNFORTUNATELY, there was a puddle of grease at the bottom of the container. I sopped it up and had to wipe down the quesadilla before serving it to my daughters. This place has potential as the flavors are there, but sopping up grease...I probably won't return.

Yelp
Ordered our food online and went to pick up, the place was practically empty with 2 people working. Must of been overrun with online orders maybe but the older women seemed stressed. We got our food and should've checked it because they put zero limes with the 11 tacos we ordered which was priced at 4.50 a piece and didn't even add cilantro or onion on one of our tacos which we did NOT check off. Carne Asada was dry like the desert, Al Pastor was extremely spicy, Carnitas had no toppings and was dry, new quesabirria tacos were a grease mess with no cheese and also spicy. For 4.50 per taco, I would expect more than that. Our order seems normal for a family of 6 and was ready for pick up within 30 minutes of ordering but was not good. Will not be ordering from here again and can definitely get more bang for my buck else where.

Yelp
Colorful and vibrant atmosphere Ordered burrito bowl and side green salad Burrito bowl was beautiful and ingredients were fresh & could taste it. Very generous proportions. Too many onions for me but my fault. Came with 4-5 freshly made corn tortillas (bonus I didn't know). The side green salad was mixed greens, tomatoes and nice chunks if avocados.

Yelp
I really enjoyed eating here the other day with my mother. We got in just as they opened and were greeted by the friendly staff. We ordered one large Mojito to split well I ordered a salad with chicken. My mother ordered a bean and cheese burrito. We didn't have to wait long, felt like we got our order within 10 minutes or so. The food was fantastic! I really enjoyed my salad and thought that the portions were so huge that I was able to take some leftovers home. My mother really enjoyed her burrito as well! The Mojito was incredibly strong! Be prepared for potentially strong drinks (which I'm not complaining about)! My one wondering was regarding all of the different salsa and sauces they had available for customers. There wasn't any kind of Maza or signage saying which types of sauces were spicier than others. Some kind of label would've been really helpful, especially because I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy things. Otherwise a great meal and a great time! Highly recommend, and will for sure be visiting again.

P B.

Yelp
I've eaten here dozens of times, and the verdict is in: a mess of grease, cheese, and poorly portioned ingredients in a sloppily wrapped burrito. There's too much oil on the grill, the ingredients aren't clean, and the prices remind me of a West Hollywood shakedown at a vegan juice bar. Except this place is a meat den that will permeate your clothes with the grease and fat wafting off the grill. The employees wear gloves that they don't change, and you can witness the person packaging your lardrrito with the same gloves that were just used to pick up customer plates and wash them. Gross. No way. Never again. Rather eat at Chipotle, which is like saying I rather wipe with my hands.

Yelp
I visited La Bonita on a Sunday afternoon in March. There is some street parking. You may need to park in the neighborhood rather then on Division Street. As other reviewers have noted, you order at the counter and then, sit down to wait to pick up your order. The restaurant is small. I got lucky that a table opened up after I ordered. If you've looked at any of my other Mexican restaurant reviews, you'll note that I am a huge burrito fan. I bought a al pastor burrito and I got it a la bonita. I picked the green salsa. The burrito was large and stuffed well! The green salsa for me, was between mild and medium. It was flavorful and I was happy that there was plenty of beans, rice, meat, cheese, onion, and cilantro in the burrito. The horchata was good as well. It didn't seem to have any cinnamon in it though. The burrito from here is one of the best burritos that I've eaten in Portland so far. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing! was accommodating for two small kiddos who needed up eating everything anyways Becuz it's THAT good! definitely recommend!

Yelp
1st Covid - good distancing. Everyone with masks. They only have 2 booths open, nicely distanced. Mom had quesadillas con Carne. Excellent! Accompanied by generous sour cream and really top notch Pico de Gallo. I had the chili releno. The flavor was good. My only issue was that it was sort of stewed so I wasn't as fond of the texture. The Margueritta was superb! All in all - a totally good experience. The staff was nice and the restaurant very clean.

Yelp
Best breakfast burrito in town hands down. I eat it for dinner at least once a week. Everyone that works there is very kind and helpful.

Yelp
The food was good, but when I had questions about some of the food options, or where something might be in the restaurant, I felt a little judged by some of the staff. The music was fun!

Yelp
Holy actual shit these are the best chilaquiles I've had In Portland I've found my spot! Thank you so much Norma for cooking such a fantastic authentic Mexican breakfast! You are the best! I will be back to this 5* authentic Mexican restaurant! And if you haven't tried this place you're sleeping! The service was also nothing but friendly and fast! The ambiance was super authentic as well! Thank you again for making such a fantastic meal for my breakfast this beautiful Sunday here in Portland!

Yelp
You cannot count on much in life -- friends and family will let you down, the car will break down, the bus will be late, the dog might run away, the internet will drop in the middle of an important work presentation... La Bonita, on the other hand, has never let me down. I have ordered from all corners of the menu and guess what - it all rips. They have the best horchata in town and the habanero salsa slaps so hard. La Bonita forever.

Hannah N.

Yelp
Delicious food and very kind staff. Food is always super fresh and tasty and the inside is lovely. La Bonita indeed!
google avatar

Brock S.

Yelp
I would describe it as a neighborhood Muchas Gracias. Order at the front, grab a table, get utensils and hot sauce. Relatively limited menu. They have really good sauces. Limited seating inside. The food was very good, I will be back.

Yelp
You can tell all of the food is made with so much love and care, especially with how wonderful and kind all of the staff are. I haven't had one thing that wasn't absolutely delicious! I highly recommend their fajita bowl, because their grilled veggies are SO seasoned and delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Got a takeout order for the family last night. Everyone loved what they ordered and all the food was fresh and delicious. This is definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried and I will definitely be retuning.

Yelp
Stopped in for a taco and this place did not disappoint. Ordered the habanero margarita, which was super refreshing - not too sweet and just the right amount of spice. Also had a chicken taco with the in-house sauce. Chicken was tender and had a confit-esque taste to it. Perfection. Staff is really nice and accommodating. I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
My first time ever at this location and it was absolutely wonderful. Josephine and Leena were so sweet and helpful Chips and guacamole were amazing. I thought I was in Cabo San Lucas
google avatar

Gerardo R.

Yelp
Help support the new location for a local, great restaurant! Barely opened about a couple weeks ago. We've ordered and enjoyed takeout from them including chilaquiles, breakfast burrito and vegetable garden burrito. During this COVID-19 pandemic, they can do takeout via phone or online. Try them out! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Fish tacos were great! They gave the option of grilled or fried. The tortillas were tasty, appeared homemade. The portion of rice and beans for full plates were very generous. Excellent flavor and well seasoned food. The guacamole is made from larger avocados. They have different salsas mild green, medium red and a spicy creamy red. I'll definitely be returning and telling my friends. They offer breakfast options along with some of my favorite Mexican dishes; pozole and chilaquiles. Im so happy I stumbled upon this place.

Yelp
La Bonita is a neighborhood gem! Amazing food, fair prices, great service. They also have a great salsa selection.
google avatar

Faith B.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for something to eat before going to a show at The Aladdin. The service was quick and the tacos were amazing. The drinks were great too. We each had one Al Pastor and one carne asada and both had great flavor. I'd love to come back and try some of their other menu items.
google avatar

Brandon A.

Yelp
Went here for dinner and I must say soon as I walked in it smelled like the authentic home cooking I'm use to! They have friendly service and staff, it's very clean inside , and the portions are insane! For about $14 I got the 3 tacos plate and it came with rice and beans and the plate was massive and the meat .. my goodness the meats were very well seasoned and tasted amazing . I will definitely be back to try other menu items. Chips and salsa have to be ordered on the side for a few bucks but those are worth it too! Very good Mexican food, a must try for sure!

Yelp
*BREAKFAST BURRITO HEAVEN* I used to go to the La Bonita on Alberta before I moved to LA in 2012. It was my go-to spot for any Mexican food I was craving, but the breakfast burritos always held a special place in my heart. I came back up for a visit (just in time for COVID+forest fires) and while staying with the in-laws in SE, my brother picked me up the classic breakfast burrito from the new La Bonita on Division. I was so nervous that it wasn't going to be as amazing as I remembered it being but IT 100% WAS!!!! For this burrito, they will make the eggs any way you want them, the beans are delicious, just salty enough, perfect amount of cheese and not-at-all-greasy hashbrowns. Best of all, NO RICE. Because why the fuck would you put rice in a breakfast burrito when you can have hashbrowns? PRO TIP: Ask for them to add plain avocado to it and your mind will be blown (their guacamole is good! I just prefer the plain stuff in this burrito.) Do you know how hard it is for a non-chain restaurante to maintain consistency in the quality of their food over time (let alone 8 years)? Its even harder when they expand to a 2nd location! Sure, its just one thing on the menu, but the fact that I had the same great experience eating their food today as I did 8 years ago is really saying something. P.S. I also highly recommend the Chile Relleno

Shade N.

Yelp
The food here was incredible. Reasonable prices, excellent and authentic flavors, impeccable execution. Good vibes, cute and clean. Made us so happy. We will be back in no time-- we were even talking about what else we liked visiting in this area of town so we have an excuse to come again!

Jeri C.

Yelp
Burritos are great and sizeable. Menu is large. Delivery arrives on time, if not earlier than expected. Burrito bowl is also yummy. Tortilla chips taste homemade.
google avatar

Damian E.

Yelp
My favorite tacos in Portland. The fish tacos are pretty phenomenal. The rest of the menu is good, solid Mexican food (for the PNW). The tacos definitely stand out for me. Go there quite a bit just to hit those fish tacos!
google avatar

M S.

Yelp
We were so happy when the opened a restaurant on Devision. The food is always good. It has all of our favorites from burritos, nachos, quesadillas and tamales.
google avatar

Ana W.

Yelp
Authentic mexican food, excellent service. I recommend their carnitas chimichanga and tacos. The food was so good that I forgot to take a picture

Mimi H.

Yelp
Probably the BEST breakfast burrito I have ever had..both in Portland and in LA. They keep it simple and delicious. Definitely made a regular customer. I'm
google avatar

Madelin L.

Yelp
This is some of the best food I've had in a while! I have been twice and got the carne asada burrito bowl, and the carne asada chimichanga. The ingredients are so fresh and incredibly tasty! This will 100% be my new go-to for Mexican food. I typically crave a burrito and just pick a random new place to try because nothing was my perfect fit but this is it. I see myself going here all the time for their high quality and delicious food.

Whitney M.

Yelp
This place is hit or miss. Chile relleno burrito is great. Breakfast burritos are decent if not a little bland. Bacon is always super fatty, chewy and inedible
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Huge servings and in the heart of division. The chips are probably the best take out chips I have had and the online ordering is east and food is ready very quickly. I like to get the garden veggie bowl, it comes out fresh and fast.

Jan C.

Yelp
So I've actually only ordered delivery from La Bonita. I've never physically been to their eatery. As a matter of fact, I don't even know when they opened. Was it during the pandemic? All I know is that they might be where Bar Avignon used to be. Or in that general area. Anyway. I've NEVER once been disappointed by their food. I only get the vegan burrito and it's SO NICE when places have vegan options that actually have a ton of care put into them. I'm sick of restaurants that have "vegan" options but the options are usually crappy...as if vegans aren't people with real taste buds. I'm a BIPOC who grew up in East Oakland, regularly eating burritos from the trucks. I also used to be a huge meat eater despite the fact that I'm vegan now. So I have *some* point of reference when it comes to identifying decent burritos...yes even as a vegan. Anyway, their tortillas are amazing, beans are good. Their salsas....oh wait. One star off for the inconsistent spice levels in their salsas. I generally like medium and it's usually that but recently, the salsas that came with our burritos bordered on habanero. It's kind of a big deal to me because I can't have a burrito without salsa. It's just how I grew up. I will increase the stars to FIVE STARS next time I order and the salsas are at a medium heat level again where I can actually eat it without worrying about my body afterwards.

Candis P.

Yelp
I love this spot, it's right by my house! The people are always so friendly, their customer service is just amazing and the food is so delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food!

M T.

Yelp
Wonderful spot for some Mexican food. Friendly staff. I love their veggie tostadas. Very clean restaurant

Lee F.

Yelp
We have ordered delivery from La Bonita twice. Our first experience was a resounding "Meh". The Carne Asada was dry, and less tasty than shoe leather. This time we ordered two platters, enchiladas and fajita tacos. Both came completely vegetarian, no meat of any kind. This is odd, because Fajitas are marinated, cooked beef by definition, so I called. The harried worker explained that my Fajita Tacos were supposed to be vegetarian. WT actual F? Needless to say, this very, very, convenient restaurant will be a hard pass! We are not unfamiliar with Mexican Cuisine, as we moved here from Texas 19 years ago. This is simply a baffling experience. The one bright spot, the Margaritas, clearly pre-made far from the Division location, were wonderful. They alone were worth the $10.00 tip for delivering to us, one block away...
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
It was my first time eating a La Bonita and I gotta say they're food is top quality. Everything was great, down to the food and service. All of the staff members were friendly and professional. Josefina, one of the workers there took care of me and my fiancé. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this location if you want fresh Mexican food and awesome service.
google avatar

Pablo E.

Yelp
Easy to order takeout. Great carne asada burrito. We've order other items and they were equally delicious.

Mike S.

Yelp
We ordered food to be picked up! On the phone she said 10 minutes, I arrived and it was ready to go! Their food is great! I had 2 tamales, rice and beans, my wife had a burrito with a side of mole. She loved it and will most likely eat it later too, it's huge! We'll be back!
