New Orleans’s Best Salads | Eater New Orleans

"Grilling a Caesar salad is sheer brilliance, a novel way to give the ubiquitous dish a new spin. Culinary lore has it first created in 1924 in Tijuana, Mexico, by Italian-Mexican-American restaurateur Caesar Cardini. When it migrated to menus in the U.S., the piquant toss of romaine in olive oil, Dijon, garlic, Parmesan, anchovy, and lemon was an eye-opening addition to any meal. Good on Uptown brasserie Boucherie for breathing new life into the classic with grilled hearts of romaine and a hint of sweet basil in its croutons." - Clair Lorell

Where to Find the Best Bread Pudding in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Chef Nathanial Zimet likes to color outside the traditional culinary lines at Boucherie, often with captivating results. The Cordon Bleu-educated chef relishes taking an unexpected turn, as his Krispy Kreme bread pudding illustrates. Swapping bread with donuts is a stroke of brilliance, especially when the result is soaked in a dark rum sauce and paired with a glass of six-year-old La Cigarrera Oloroso sherry." - Beth D’Addono

My husband and I picked up a New York strip and a filet mignon for dinner, they were roughly a pound and a half together, and we spent under $35 which is pretty phenomenal. The marbling was beautiful on both pieces and the filet mignon was cut roughly 2 in thick much. Anything under cooks too fast for all of us who love this. You know that. It was delectable and we will be returning now that we finally visited. We feel silly that we haven't done it sooner 💯

Google
Friendly folks having fun celebrating 30 years in Houston. All the sausages we bought were delicious. I think they sale King Cakes year round- - from Gambinos! *Those deals were for that day ONLY.

Google
I've been buying this stuff at HEB for a while so I'm super glad to know they have their own store locally with even more selections than in-store! It's a great little place with attentive, helpful staff. It's a nice and clean store with fresh cut meats and a super selection of "Cajun" foods. Lots of freshly made take and bake items that you can pop in the oven, freezer or grill! Everything I've tried is always moist and tasty. Our favorite is the stuffed (whole) chickens (any variation, they're all good). Prices are very fair too!

I had a great time shopping here for the first time. Bennett and several others helped me find what I wanted. I also enjoyed the samples. Thank you, guys. I will be back soon!

Came in and I was in awe at the selections.. I can’t wait to try my cookies 🍪

Google
We went in looking for boudin stuffed porkchops. Came out with so much more! It is all delicious! Absolutely worth driving that way!

Google
Figured I’d leave a review on the delivery process here since there isn’t any. Before arriving make sure you swing out wide, the entry is narrow. When you come in go to the back. Setup area is very large with plenty of room to maneuver into one of the 2 docks. The owner is very friendly, and the dock worker was very nice. Lumper is very reasonable, and they are lightning fast. I would definitely deliver again!

Google
No doubt the BEST meat market around. The store is super clean, well organized and the selection is amazing! The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. We are at a point where they know us when we walk in! Donald is so nice, always has great suggestions and is helpful with how to cook various things. Matthew gave us some great suggestions the first time we went in and we've been hooked ever since! Buy local! Come support this amazing meat market!

Yelp
Back where i live markets like this are history, a fish market named Paoli's and a meat guy named Sam the Butcher (actually his name was Dennis but anyway...) now it's all just so much grocery store on styrofoam planks wrapped in cellophane. Not this. This is the real deal, and the guy who manages it is very accommodating. In our case we had been looking for, again for those keeping up, fresh goat for a killer texas cowboy chili. This was said to be the place likely to have it, but no. Instead, he made a combo of fresh, coarsely ground lean beef and medium hot andouille sausage (his own spice mix). Incredible result thanks to this place, not goat of course but incredible still.

Yelp
The customer service is what will bring me back to La Boucherie and their willingness to order what they do not have in stock (i.e., Bacon with the Rein) on it. There are so many specialty dishes here but very expensive. I would happily pay for a larger portion size of their specialty items like stuffed dressing etc. That said, it's a cool place to try nee things but I wish they would host their own rubs, seasonings, pickled vegetables etc and not other companies with limited supply.

Yelp
Best place to find honest to goodness Cajun, New Orleans food!! If not in the Spring area, they also sell at HEB

Yelp
I can't recommend this place enough. Great staff and selection. Been back three time in one week. About to crack open a couple of their stuffed chickens. The current personal favorite right now is the Red reaper and pizza sausage. Can't wait to try everything they offer. I don't think you can fail at making a great dinner with their meats.

Yelp
I had been wanting to visit this place for years when it was located on 1960, and by the time I came they had already moved into their own building further north of town. I stopped by during the holidays and bought a turducken, which is offered in about 5 different flavors (of stuffing), and bacon wrapped jalapeños. When I cooked both, they were easy to follow instructions and everyone enjoyed them. I really liked the jalapeños, but they were not that spicy. I saw a couple of other people getting their wrapped filet chunks, so I will probably try those next time I visit.

Yelp
So fresh, and well packaged. We bought 3 diff cuts of meat. So far I tried the fajita. So delicious . I had to come on here and write a review. I can't wait to try the rest. For now on I know where to go.

Yelp
Wow! Much closer than driving into Louisiana! And so far what we cooked has been great. Stuffed pork chop.....husband & I shared one. We also got TurDuckEn, pizza sausage, Italian sausage, some other kind of spicy sausage, boudin balls and a couple of other things we've yet to try. Plan to bring them on vacation- ready made just drop in air fryer. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Some stuff was expensive, others were fairly priced. We plan on going back.

Josiane B.

Yelp
The turducken roll is fantastic! Right proportions of meat and stuffing, lots of flavors and a good size. We had the jambalaya stuffing and it was delicious. The roll was a good size for 7 people. The service is very good and the shop has a lot of other products.

Yelp
So glad I found this place on Yelp! Very clean, friendly, and wide variety of options. Chose the chicken Mardi gras. It was bacon wrapped chicken thighs stuffed with cornbread dressing. Great price for not doing any work other than remove from packaging and bake. Fed four adults. Then got the defined chicken stuffed with dirty rice and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin stuffed with boudin. As sides, picked up the jalapeño cornbread dressing and broccoli and rice casserole. This fed six adults with a little leftover.. Everything was in the frozen section with very clear cooking instructions on the packaging. The food was delicious, moist, and tasty. I forgot to take a pic of the cooked chicken but it was perfect. Everyone enjoyed it. I usually don't cook pork tenderloin because it usually ends up too dry. Not this one. Very moist and flavorful. I need to come back during the holidays to pick up a turducken. Great experience and will come back when I'm in town. Loved you La Boucherie!!!!!

Warlord 1.

Yelp
This place has any meat for any occasion From wings to A5 wagyu and it's like walking through a wonderland of meats, seasonings and sauces and occasionally they have a giant grill and smoker to give out the best samples.

Yelp
First visit to their meat market. Meat Heaven! Loads of yummy. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and owner. Yup, I'll be back.....

Yelp
Been a customer for many years. TurDukEns every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just got difficult negotiating FM1960 traffic. The new location on Kuykendahl (North of Louetta) is a breeze. New store is huge and they've added a fresh meats market. Having Open House this weekend with plenty of their creations available for tasting. It's fantastic!

Tyrone M.

Yelp
awesome meat market always had what I need customer services off the change. Old-school customer service.

Yelp
Amazing butcher shop here in Spring, TX! I only buy my meat, chicken, bacon, etc., from here. The staff are friendly and fantastic! A lot of folks know them for their stuffed chickens and turducken (spelling) but you need to get to know them from their steaks, chicken, sausage, pork tenderloin and boudin! A lot do not know that it is a traditional butcher shop along with their famous frozen meats. Check them out. You will never shop at the grocery again for your protein! Adding to this review: I forgot to mention that this is also one of the only shops in this area that is a certified A-5 Wagyu beef dealer. Holy moly. Get one. Pics of the wagyu filet here.
google avatar

Shelley G.

Yelp
I love this butcher. They are so welcoming when you come in. The variety of meat and products are amazing. If you can't find it here, it can't be found anywhere. It is very clean and organized with knowledgeable employees. It is so much better IMO than supermarkets meat. Give it a try.
google avatar

Yelp
A wide range of quality meats and side dishes at good prices. Lots of sales. You can't beat their customer service! Also a 10% discount for teachers, first responder, and veterans.

Jeri R.

Yelp
Wonderful meat market! Lots of awesome Cajun style meats & entrees. Great looking fresh meat & all kinds of sausages. They supply several large companies... Bucees, HEB, etc... Very friendly & helpful.

Marquita B.

Yelp
I love they give teacher discounts! Freshly butchered, high quality meat at a reasonable price.

Eric H.

Yelp
We had Turducken, creamed spinach, and crawfish and pork sausage for Thanksgiving. All were excellent and look forward to having these and other selections in the future.!

Dan M.

Yelp
This is the best thing that has happened to Spring in years. This place is absolutely a goldmine! I have been multiple times in the last ten days or so and continue to be blown away every time. Sausage, boudin, bombs...but tonight we tried the fajitas!!!! Total game changer. Best fajitas I think I've EVER GRILLED and it was NOT me - it was the meat. Both beef and chicken simply outstanding! As an almost 50 year old man, I want to have my birthday party here! Must see, you will be very very happy to made the visit! I will NOT buy my meat anywhere else from now on!!!! So happy!

Katie N.

Yelp
Excellent service, and even better meats. We try to visit every weekend. Selection varies at times, but everything in the store is amazing. The sides are fantastic too. Don't miss out on the fillet bombs ... if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it's hands down those fillet bombs.

Angela W.

Yelp
Bland jalapeño cornbread stuffed chicken. The amount of oil from the chicken once cooked was disgusting. The stuffing lacked flavor and there was no hint of spiciness in the stuffing.

C M.

Yelp
This place is awesome. They have a great selection of delicious stuff to smoke and grill and really friendly service.

Beatrice H.

Yelp
This is the only place we buy our meat now. We have been shopping at the Boucherie since they opened at the current location and not once did we get bad meat. If you don't see what you want in the case, just ask, they probably have it in the back ready to cut to order. We are always greeted with a "good morning " and smiles. The place is super clean and plenty of parking.
google avatar

Fuller B.

Yelp
Their butcher counter is amazing. Everything behind that case is fresh and cooks up wonderfully. We will ne back for more.
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere, extremely clean, awesome steaks and every Cajun meat you can think of and a few more. My new butcher shop.

Yelp
When my mother moved to Texas a few years ago, we both presumed that---being TEXAS, cow country---she'd be eating great beef. Well, what we've actually experienced is that the beef generally available in Houston supermarkets tends to be a little tough, and just not that great compared to what we could easily obtain in California. This was a HUGE surprise. Recently bemoaning the fact, I promised I'd get her a great Texan steak when I next visited. And so recently on our way home from the airport after I landed, we headed to the La Boucherie butcher on FM1960 @ the intersection of TC Jester. Well, I've just finished one FINE prime ribeye steak. Texas has it, you just have to go find it :) Next time I may try their Tur-Duc-Hen, creamed spinach and some other stuff which looked interesting.

Tamy D.

Yelp
Great service and super clean shop. Customer service was excellent. Donald and his staff are very helpful and hand trimmed all the meat for my bbq competition.

Matt L.

Yelp
Went for the first time and the staff was very friendly. Tried their sausage and a few other things and they were great! Will definitely be going back.
google avatar

Jenifer S.

Yelp
We had the Mardi Gras chicken stuffed with cornbread dressing. The portions were the perfect size for our family, directions were easy to follow. Had a great flavor and well seasoned, will definitely be trying out other products!!

Ray A.

Yelp
Great selection of high quality meat. Excellent customer service. Even at checkout "Jordan" was very friendly! I won't buy meat from anywhere else from now on.

Danielle H.

Yelp
We bought a chicken stuffed with jalapeño cornbread at HEB and my husband can't stop raving about it! We've also tried their chicken stuffed with jambalaya- also delicious. Looking forward to trying more dishes.
google avatar

Yvonne R.

Yelp
In search of some bodacious gumbo, we tried the Seafood Gumbo. Our suggestion is to rename it Seafood Soup. Although there was plenty of shrimp, crawfish and crab meat, there was no roux. It was more of a flavored seafood base. The price did not justify the means.

Isabella T.

Yelp
I had the Chicken Mardis Gras anwas so delicious and so easy to make. I loved how the chicken had cornbread stuffing! Everything was so flavorful and seasoned to perfection. It was as easy as putting it in the oven and taking it out! I will definitely be eating more of these foods!

Alycia H.

Yelp
Everything we've gotten from here has been fabulous. From boudin stuffed chicken, stuffed pork chops, beef jerky ... it's all wonderful. Super high quality and fair prices. The staff is also extremely helpful.

Lauran E.

Yelp
Have enjoyed Everything we've bought from La Boucherie--Steaks, sausage (all kinds), stuffed peppers, chicken breast stuffed with crawfish etouffee, seafood gumbo, etc! ALL delicious!!! Everyone working there has been great! Also able to get different kinds of wood there for smoking the meat. Our new go-to place!---The English Family

Kathleen M.

Yelp
I love the variety of products available here and how they are able to switch it up yet they always have my favorites too. Very nice people!

Opal C.

Yelp
We love this place! The selection is always fresh and they treat everyone like family who walks in! The boudin is the best around, and sausages are so good my 6 year old keeps raving about them. Glad to have it so close by!

Laurie H.

Yelp
Billy, the meat manager, was most helpful. He explained how they process the meat, decide on options and helped me problem-solve a purchase I wanted to make. They have a huge variety of options and I cannot recommend them more strongly. They have a lovely facility and it is sparkling clean. I highly encourage anyone wanting to purchase some meat to try them.

Maria B.

Yelp
Very good quality meat, the employees are very nice and helpful. I will recomend the store to all my friends
google avatar

Yelp
Nice guy came out to greet me/likely owner. I came looking to buy a good quality steak to grill but there is nothing in the meat counter except frozen "turducken". He did point me to some prime individually wrapped steaks in a standup freezer, but if Im buying Prime for its quality Im not buying it frozen. Shouldn't really call itself a meat market: rather, a turducken shop.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
Stopped in today to grab a couple of ribeyes to cook tonight after finding them online. The ribeye selection was small (I imagine serving prime cuts they don't get a ton of walk in business and don't stock their storefront heavily as a result) but beautifully marbled and cut to a perfect thickness. We bantered a bit about how to properly cook and season steaks (hint: it doesn't involve marinade or much more than salt & pepper) like these. They offered me a price sheet to take with me for the items they sell and offered for me to call ahead when I was looking for something to see what they had in stock or see what they could get for me. Very nice custom butcher with a great product and a true service approach! The steaks aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for... if you appreciate great cuts and know how to prepare them this is a must-go place! They also carry a lot of custom sides and items aside from the steaks, so feel free to check them out or their website and see what else they offer! Update: After cooking the steaks tonight... I'm even more in love than I already was. These are the real deal, they melted in our mouths like butter... there really is no comparison.
google avatar

Beth H.

Yelp
This review is a tough call for me. If tonight were my only experience with their offerings, I'd be leaving a miserable one star after spending $29.xx for 2 quarts of their bland and underwhelming seafood gumbo. However, my husband and I have been picking up their stellar crawfish pies and stuffed chickens for about seven years. We rave to all of our friends and recommend keeping their crawfish pies on hand in the freezer for an easy, amazing, and no-fuss dinner at home. This item is our go-to for as long as I can remember for several occasions: - Stressful day at work but the couch sounds better than margaritas at our favorite Mexican joint - Saturday night, no babysitter, send the kids up to the game room for a rented kid friendly movie while the adults have a downstairs movie-date - Drank too much the night before, and pizza and Chinese won't cut it ...whatever the case may be, we'll find an excuse to pop them in the oven... And here we are, wishing we could take back the experience of the seafood gumbo. It's like walking in on your significant other doing the unthinkable after 7 long years. 4 stars for remembering the good times....

Becky G.

Yelp
OMG - went to La Boucherie this morning and bought a variety of goods. Their service was stellar, super clean, and the staff happily explained the different meats, filings, and how to cook them. I got home and ate some boudin balls. I thought 6 were enough, but will have to go back to buy more Absolutely delicious and fresh!

May G.

Yelp
I first sampled their stuffed chicken & it was delicious. I purchased it from Belleville Meat Market in Belleville, Texas. I swore if I ever returned to Texas, I'd travel to Houston before coming home to San Francisco to purchase as much as I could carry. They sold me a $10 styrofoam box to transport my 30 pounds of goodies that I was told by Southwest Airlines I could not use, I ended up buying another $10 box so I could bring the frozen food home. I've always heard how good a Turducken is so I bought one in a roll form for Thanksgiving. What a disappointment!!! I love turkey, i love duck, and I love chicken but this was not good at all. I'm guessing that they use the duck breast which was so dry & gamey when it was done. I feed the duck to the dog which ate it of course, but got sick. I will try the Turporken next time. The Boudin balls were just ok, the seasoning was good but the texture was not so good. The jalepeno dressing was to die for. I'm still waiting to eat the rest: Tasso, chicken apple sausage, crawfish pie, Andouille sausage, dirty rice mix, and crawfish etoufee. I will update this as we try the items.
google avatar

Jamie A.

Yelp
This place is known for their Turduckens during the holidays, but I recommend stopping by to see their wonderful assortment of products. All of the items are prepared fresh and then frozen. My favorite is the jalapeño cream cheese stuffed bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. This same product sells at HEB for way more! During my recent trip I discovered they now have a boudin stuffed bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Can you say yummy? I also purchased a dirty rice stuffed chicken and boudin. Another of my favorites is the dirty rice sauce packet. Just heat it up, mix it with freshly made rice, topped with chopped green onions and you're good to go. Finally, I picked up some andouille and Tasso. I like to have these two things handy in my freezer in case I'm in the mood to make some gumbo.

Brian B.

Yelp
Great food and even better folks! Been going there for years when we want to feed the family during the holidays. Such kind folks. Such yummy options!

Molly B.

Yelp
Last weekend I went to the grand opening of La Boucherie Butcher Shop in Spring TX. I have been looking for a butcher shop like the one in my hometown. They were handing out samples of smoked ribs and a pork tenderloin stuffed with cheese, sausage, and jalapenos outside for the opening which were fabulous. I stopped back by later to buy some meat since I was out shopping and didn't want to keep the meat in the car. They were bringing in the left over meat from the smoker that they didn't give away. They gave me 2 slabs of ribs for free!!. I bought some of the seasoning they used on the ribs and the filets they had on sale. I had the filet tonight with the seasoning and it was the best I have ever had. So juicy and incredible tender. They have many varieties of fresh meats, sausages, seafood, Cajun dishes, and seasonings for sale. I am so glad I found this place and the half hour drive was worth it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a new shopping stirp location so if you use google maps the picture will show a vacant lot. If you live in the Houston area, I highly recommend that you visit. Looking forward to my next trip.

Cat F.

Yelp
Awful. The worst example of a crawfish pie I have ever tasted. I purchase La boucherie Crawfish Pie. It looked beautiful, however things went down hill from there. Besides being horribly sweet instead of savory, this "Crawfish Pie" was full of a pasty sauce, with very little crawfish. It had so few crawfish, it did not even taste like crawfish. It is unusual, in Louisiana, to order crawfish pie that is not full of large succulent crawfish. I thought Texans prided themselves by having things bigger an better. That is definitely not the case in this instance. I would be ashamed to serve the La Boucherie Crawfish Pie to my family and friends. I would not even shame myself but serving it to my enemies. This product is, at best, a bad imitation of crawfish pie.
