Buttery and flaky, yet still moist and fluffy, my croissant somehow achieved the impossible! Each bite somehow carried the next, until the whole symphony joined in and then just as simply and elegantly as it began, it was over. This ham and Swiss croissant will forever be remembered as something truly special. I must also mention that the clerk was especially kind and thoughtful—a true professional.

Unfortunately, my experience here was pretty disappointing. The service was incredibly slow, even though the café wasn’t that busy. Staff seemed disinterested and borderline rude…no greeting, no smile, just an energy that made me feel unwelcome. I couldn’t help but feel there was a hint of bias in how I was treated compared to other customers, which left an even worse taste than the coffee. I ordered a latte and a croissant, and both were underwhelming. The latte tasted burnt, and the croissant was dry and far from the buttery, flaky texture you’d expect from a French bakery. I really wanted to like this place, but nothing about it lived up to the hype. There are definitely better coffee spots in the area.

Just discovered La Boulangerie & Co California on the 606 and wow—definitely worth the stroll! Dropped about $18 on a flaky ham‑and‑gruyère croissant, a mocha latte, and a fresh berry tart. Cozy cafe vibes with that mellow Logan Square energy—super chill vintage chairs & friendly staff who actually remember your order. Pastries hit different. Already planning my next visit!

Google
The ham and cheese croissant was my favorite. I also loved the Canele. It was delish, and the rasberry Financier was great. The Friand au Fromage was interesting but not my favorite. I will definitely be back to try some other pastries, sandwiches, and salads.

Google
Delicious croissants but no orange juice. Miscommunication between staff bagging orders, cramped space, yet I'd still recommend it. Just wish they had a wider brunch selection.

Google
This bakery has great food and coffee. However, what makes this place is the super friendly staff like Alivia, Maria in the kitchen, and the other girls. They are the reason why I go almost every day on my way to work.

Google
This coffee shop/bakery in Chicago is my now my personal standard by which all other coffee shops are judged. Awesome drinks, considerate/kind service, really cozy but open atmosphere. Olivia made my soy extra hot latte for me this afternoon and it was delicious! Exactly the perk-up that I needed. ✨

Google
Great food, good size coffee spot with most seating be 2 tops. Good barista selection, food selection, and breakfast sandwiches too. All in all will be coming back, really nice spot.

Yelp
A solid little coffee shop and bakery if you need to get some work done. Popped in on a saturday morning because I am forcing myself to slow down and enjoy small moments on the weekends. So, I grabbed a chai latte and scone. Both were excellent. The chai latte was great with the spice from the nutmeg, cardamon, and cinnamon. Smooth, and sweet. The scone was superb. So buttery and crumbly. It had wonderful texture with the chives and chilis baked in. A wonderfully savory option if you don't have a sweet tooth for their chocolate chip cookie croissant (which looked wonderful). They have music playing, but it's quiet so you aren't distracted. It is decorated with a healthy balance of neon and natural shrubbery. Overall a super solid spot to study for a bit or just have a little coffee date.

Yelp
I've been to almost all the locations for La Boulangerie and this Humboldt Park location might be my favorite. It's not as crowded as Logan Sq or Hyde Park, has good variety, friendly staff, easy parking and good service. I love their breads, bakery goods and coffee too.

Yelp
After walking my dog, I always head over to La Boulangerie & Co. for my coffee and a . Food: The fresh croissants are perfection. You can even have them warmed! There's nothing like enjoying warm croissant on a chilly day. For my coffee, I ordered a mocha to go. It has the right amount of chocolate without overwhelming my pallet. Let's talk about the Pâtisserie: Chocolate Eclair: perfectly piped with a chocolate moose in every bite. It's my favorite! Lemon Meringue Pie: perfect for sharing, but I do question if they use fresh lemon juice. The lemon filling was a little bitter for my liking but the crust and meringue topping are on point. Bonus: The cold case has a great selection of wine. Service: Always friendly. After 3 days of stopping in for coffee, the cashier recognized me and remembered my order. Ambiance: It's chic inside. The pink neon, black and white decor make this a great spot to meet with a friend to catch up. When the sun is out, I love the outdoor seating area. My puppy sits by my feet while I enjoy my breakfast. Overall: Chic Dog friendly Buttery Croissants Excellent wine selection

Yelp
Run, don't walk. Everything here is phenomenal - the service, the vibe, the breakfast sammies, & the pastries. This little shop happened to be a few doors down from our AirB&B so I wandered down one morning. I ordered a cappuccino, pistachio roll, & the Louis IV roll. They did not hold back on the meats for the breakfast sammie. It was packed with bacon & ham, which I appreciated (especially since it was $14). This was probably one of the best breakfast sammies I've ever had - the flaky buttery croissant with the creamy avocado + Swiss cheese + bacon + ham. If you haven't been here before be sure to get the pistachio roll. I was so sad when I took my last bite because I didn't want it to end. The center of the flaky buttery roll is packed with a light pistachio cream that is to die for. I will definitely be stopping in when we are back in town (might even plan a trip to Chicago just so I can get another roll).

Yelp
Well I got a refund. Yet it was for a lesser value even though I gave them all of the information over and over again. So ridiculous that they can't get this right after a month of asking for the refund. Update: March 19th. 30 days later I'm still waiting for a refund and someone to answer the phone. 26th phone call today. I've called every day multiple times a day and nobody answers the phone. Unfortunately disputing to my credit card company as this is a company card. Still waiting for a refund on an order cancelled from Feb 19th, today is March 14th! No managers are ever available to talk and I have called over a dozen times. Nobody now answers the phone. Also emailed on the website twice without any acknowledgment. Google review as well. Refunds are not difficult nor is customer service.

Yelp
I come here regularly. Fantastic local bakery. Baguettes, croissants, sour dough boules, all made fresh every daily, all top notch. A+.

Yelp
I was a big fan of La Boulangerie's Logan Square location and was super excited to see one near my commute route. Everything I've tried has been so delicious. They have classic french pastries and breads made with quality and packaged with care. Quiche Provencal - full of veggies with a salty goat cheese that adds a good savoriness to the quiche Chocolate Eclair - filled with chocolate custard, excellent custard to choux ratio Financiers - Small but tasty, good for eating with coffee or tea Muffin - I had a chocolate nut muffin and it was chock full of little pieces of nuts it was SO GOOD Chocolate croissants - classic, buttery, chocolatey goodness Almond croissant - flaky croissant with a, soft almond filling Spinach and Feta Croissant - filling enough for a meal almost Cute little shop with some seating in the back, they also sell sandwiches and drinks. Their food is not cheap but you get what you pay for, quality pastries and baked goods.

Yelp
Cute little bakery! Glad I came by after my bad customer experience at the plant store down the street. Got myself a big croissant and chai tea latte. Friendly staff. They also have some imported (?) sweets in the back.

Yelp
Such a cute bakery. Passed this shop on my way to dance class. Decided to go venture here on way home for lunch. I had every intention of grabbing an Almond Crossiant. I had their Almond Crossiant before at Etheria Cafe. It is top tier experience. It may be the best Almond Crossiant but surprisingly Roeser's Bakery is very tasty. Anyway the space is ample with plenty of seating if you want to dine-in. I really wanted to pair my Pinsa Rena (tasted like Pizza) with a class of red wine, so took it home and heated up in the air fryer. They do have wine for purchase here but cannot consume on premise. Nice to know if picking up treats such as Macarons you can also grab some bubbly. I should of asked if these Macarons where French or Italian. They looked delicious but I make the French Macarons for a hobby so I am burned-out on eating them. Cute bakery, friendly staff and the coffee smelled good. Check this place out...they even have quiche and other yummy menu items.

Yelp
After a quick yelp search stumbled upon this French bakery that was about a mile away from my house. We came in right before the Saturday morning rush. So we had time to thoroughly review the menu and look at all the amazingly beautiful pastries that they have in display. Typical coffee choices I decided on a Cortada, which was delicious. My wife had a dirty chai what she said was the best she's ever had we tried the ham and cheese croissant, and the Louis the sixth breakfast sandwich, which had Swiss, eggs, avocado ham, and bacon. We sat on the outside patio and wait for our food to be completed. Both the croissant and the sandwich was absolutely delicious and the price points were reasonable for the quality of the food. It has a very relaxed Café ambience with a small market of fresh fruits, veggies, and other little items. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Small hidden jewel in Humboldt Park area. Their croissants rolls are delicious. Prices are high but they are good for the quality of the food. Their coffee is not exactly the best and sizes are not proportional to what you would expect but I guess it is what a French spot would consider "small", "medium" and "large". Next time order a "large" if you really want a "medium" size coffee. Service was good. Very amicable and the vibes between the staff makes the place feel cozy. Definitely will come back for more!

Anabel K.

Yelp
I love this location so much. The ingredients are high quality and i think it's worth the price. The pastries are the closest to Europe that you will get. The staff is super friendly and you can tell everyone enjoys being there. One of my favorite outdoor patios in the city!

Yelp
Now, this is what I'm talking about, chile! Right by my house, I had been walking past this cafe for like half a year without knowing what it was. Well last weekend, I finally went in. Every Sunday, my boyfriend and I try a new coffee shop, and this was last week's choice. It's cute in there and there are French imported goods which I love! You can also purchase things like eggs and milk, etc. there. Prices across the board are reasonable and I got the drip coffee, with vanilla and oak milk - very well-rounded flavor. On top of that, I ordered a sandwich on a baguette with chicken, greens, apple butter, and brie and that was so good. I'm a sucker for apple butter and especially for brie. We also split a quiche and my partner ordered a raspberry white mocha, which I think is limited to February for order but that taste was next level. We tried one of the quiches as well, which was light, flavorful, and fluffy. Do you know how hard it is to nail quiche? It's not easy, but La Boulangerie figured it out. Very clean, cool staff, a little small of a space if they're busy, but I mean, if you're just popping in for a sandwich and a coffee, whatever.

Yelp
Great food, same level as ant bakery in France. Coffee is just okay. Avocado toast is amazing, cookies are incredible and so are the croissants

Yelp
Had the pizza, baked pan style (some people call it grandma style maybe?) and it was A++. Thought it might be expensive but cut in fourths, more than filled me up. Small samples on the counter were delish too. Almost got me to buy the lemon meringue! Sat on the outdoor patio in the front, which was a nice touch having a breeze during my lunch break.

Yelp
The baked goods and coffee (la Colombe) are good here. Very well made, high quality airy and porous croissants that are buttery soft and flaky. Ones Ive seen in cooking shows to be critiqued by experts to be how its supposed to be Almond and chocolate croissants are well balanced without being too sweet. I had their chocolate eclair and it was a delicious treat, cant wait to try other desserts but at this rate ive turned into butter myself. It is a grab and go kinda spot. They do have a cute outdoor patio but its about to get chilly. What sets them apart from other high priced quality bakeries in the area is their neighborhood friendly customer service.

Yelp
The food looked amazing and we walked out of our way for a matcha latte. Sadly, we didn't get a chance to try anything. We waited at the counter for 10 minutes with no acknowledgment whatsoever. There was no one else in line, the barista/cashier actually served someone their order right in front of us, without ever acknowledging our presence. We decided to spend our $50 elsewhere.

Linh L.

Yelp
Very small cafe area. They have an amazing selection of pastries. I had a plain croissant and wow. It reminded me of the ones I had in Paris. Ut was flaky and buttery. I would definitely go back and try others.

Yelp
I am actually writing about my experience at the pop-up stall in the Wicker Park farmers market on September 10, 2023. As I walked up to the stall looking at the bread on the tables. The woman working the stall did not greet me. When I reached the tables with the bread she rudely waved me to one side so that others can walk up and not be blocked by me?!? First of all, I wasn't blocking anybody, and I also was a customer? She actually caught me off guard with her rude behavior. I actually did what I normally do when I see something of interest to me at a farmers market, I walked up. Any vendor should be happy that any customers show interest in what they are selling and walk up? At that very moment I should have walked away and visited one of the other stalls also selling bread. But like I said, she caught me off guard and I was in the market for very good freshly baked bread. As I was looking, a teenager with the rude woman tended to me. He on the other hand, was very nice and I purchased a loaf of rustic bread. Afterwards, I regretted purchasing anything from this stall because of the way I was treated. Especially when you consider that they were not the only vendor with freshly baked bread that morning. Folks when you are treated rudely by someone trying to selling you something, leave and take your hard-earned money elsewhere to another more deserving vendor. This baker does not have an exclusive on very good bread in our city. There are several other bakers that would love to have sold me their excellent products and would have treated me very well in the process. In other words, you have choices. The result in this instance is I may never visit your stall or bakery locations ever again.

Yelp
too small of a menu and they we're out of everything as i went early enough and place was dead so don't know how they had nothing available but already drove out my way so had to unfortunately get a nasty soggy overpriced pie
google avatar

Hallie B.

Yelp
The food was fine, but the service was terse and unfriendly. I won't go out of my way to return to this place.

Jenn A.

Yelp
Best macarons I've had in Chicago. Fave flavors (in order:) raspberry, pistachio, hazelnut, cassis, bright lemon. They also have delicious French pastries. (The best I've had outside of France.) Be prepared to wait in line on the weekends-it's worth the wait!

Alexandra Y.

Yelp
Eh. I got the maple bourbon croissant roll at the christkindlmarkt. It was stale and overpriced. Also the cream inside tasted like straight up bourbon, so don't get it if u don't LOVE bourbon.

Alexander K.

Yelp
Ordered the Ham Egg Cheese on a Croissant and Brie Egg Caramelized Onion on Brioche for pickup. Both were solid, we'll be back.

Yelp
Their canele are the best in the whole city. We compared with Floriole, Lafournette, Maison Parisiene and many others. Just the best. The most important, the prices are still reasonable. Not like 7.75 for croissant in Publican or Floriole. Super nice service. Every time. I like California location much better than Logan Square or Ravenswood. Better staff.
google avatar

William Y.

Yelp
This place was a disappointment. They didn't heat up pastries. Kitchen was closed. Not worth it

Nancy R.

Yelp
So excited that this spot finally opened up! I've lived I'm the neighborhood for a handful of years now and happy to have another option especially coffee wise. As soon as you walk in, you're met with a plethora of desserts, quiches, and pizzas on display. Which made it impossible to decide what to get but thankfully the staff was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. Gave some great recommendations. The macaroons are a must, as well as any quiche, and all the sandwiches that we've tried so far are divine. Looking forward to more visits and trying out all the groceries they carry in the back.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Breakfast Sandwhich is unmatched here!!! The avocado bacon and ham on croissant go crazy!!!!

Tim P.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. 6 people behind the counter, everyone sees me, makes eye contact and continues to not do anything. 2 ladies behind the cash register ignoring me. The kitchen cook had to literally tell the attendant that I'd been waiting for her. This is not the first or second time this has happened. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to purchase a baked good when there isn't a line and you have 6 people restocking spoons and forks. Food is fantastic, the help isn't. Unfortunately, I think this may be my last trip. Continues to leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Elise F.

Yelp
They have an entirely new menu and the old items are gone. For sandwiches, there is a delicious tomato and mozzarella sandwich with pesto. The bread is to flimsy to hold up such a moist sandwich. It should be served on a heartier bread.
google avatar

Dick J.

Yelp
One of countless places in hipster/millennial/militant bicyclist/insurmountable student debt territory that will just absolutely bleed you. $4 will get you a small cup of coffee, and the quality is nothing to write home about. Everything on the menu is severely overpriced, which is not uncommon for these types of establishments. I'm giving them 3 stars because they are righteous hustlers.

Yelp
It is a miracle we have a place like this in Chicago. Came here with my family for some morning coffee and croissant. Left extremely impressed by the quality of the almond croissant I had. I also tried the quiche with mushrooms, which melted in my mouth, smooth and flavorful. Such a treat!!! The service was great too- super friendly people. I'm definitely coming back.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Ordered a sandwich for pickup, and arrived at my pickup time. Sandwich hadn't been started, and they ran out of baguette. I went to the French bakery to have a baguette sandwich. I would have appreciated a call to not waste my time.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I have walked/driven past this location and kept meaning to go inside - so glad I had the time to stop in today. I ordered an eclair and a pomme tart, iced latte and the barista stuck in a broken pistachio macaron... that was the best macaron I've ever had!!! Also the barista was super friendly and soft spoken - so excited to have this place around the corner from where I live. They even built a little deck to sit on... I just love it!
