Google
My favorite tacos in Houston. Every single time it hits. You can’t go wrong with any of the meat choices, but I go with the Pastor, Birria, and Chorizo. It’s all hot and fresh, and they actually fill the tacos. Grab a cold beer and enjoy the salsa bar as well. I always miss pictures because I’m too excited for the food, but here’s a few as well. Highly recommend!

Google
A little pricey but amazing tacos! I was nearby for jury duty and opted for these tacos instead of cafeteria food. Boy was I glad! I got the street tacos and tried the pastor, birria, and chicken. Super good and loved the salsa. The plate had 5 tacos for $13. Not a bad price for downtown! I sat in there and vibed to the Mexican music. Nice lunch break. Employees were nice and friendly.

Google
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Amazing experience from start to finish! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, with every bite better than the last. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick, making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was inviting and perfect for a great meal with family or friends. Whether you’re craving tacos, enchiladas, or something else, this place delivers on quality and taste. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Google
OMG, I think I've found my chill place to eat great tacos, I ordered the Street Taco Plate (pastor, fajita, brisket birra & pork roast with chicharrone) DELICIOUS!!!! And I got a freebie, pozole (no meat) still full of flavor and hominy kind of soup. It went great with my tacos. All that with a side of a agua fresca, sandia (watermelon) and my drink got topped off. Yes please, I was smiling from ear to ear. You gotta stop after the game, they their own cantina next door.

Google
We were staying in the area for the weekend and decided to give La Calle Tacos a try. It was a fun and inviting atmosphere. We tried the street tacos carne asada, birria, al pastor, and carnitas. All were delicious. They had all the right toppings and a variety of fresh salsas. If you are downtown and looking for good tacos, give them a try. The price wasn't too bad considering the location. Overall, delicious food and good experience 👍

Google
Stopped by this taco spot today out of curiosity. The vibe felt a little gimmicky at first, but I've got to admit-the food wasn't half bad. The meat itself was a bit underwhelming, lacking the flavor and tenderness I was hoping for, but everything else on the plate was on point. The tortillas were fresh, the toppings were vibrant, and the salsa packed just the right amount of kick. Not a perfect taco, but definitely a place I wouldn't mind trying again-just with a different protein next time.

Google
Food was very good, I would recommend the street tacos and try one of each meat! They have a complimentary salsa bar with limes, onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, 4 different salsas to choose from. Service was great, some of the ladies came over and chatted with us and told us about the history of the place and the decor. 10/10 would come again!

Google
Stop by after I came from law library. Too have Breakfast. The place is good. The food is good. It was really pricey for a small drink and two tacos like $15 for two tacos and a small drink. The food was great but I wouldn’t come spend $15 for two tacos and a drink again.

Yelp
Amazing street tacos! This is one of my favorite spots to go to have tacos! Absolutely mouthwatering tacos. Open till 2 am in downtown! They give 5 street tacos for $12.99 with a dipping soup and you can choose your topping and sauces from plenty of options (cilantro, onion, avocado salsa, roasted pepper salsa, spicy chipotle sauce, salsa verde habanero, pico, lime, and some other toppings too) there's a machine for soda as well to add on and there's a bar inside as well. Parking is limited around but some public spaces available if you look for them.

Yelp
100% recommend this place. We came to visit Houston for the weekend and I saw a lot of people mention I should visit here. Definitely worth the hype. Staff was very friendly and d welcoming. And everything came out really quick! The frozen margaritas were good and definitely had enough alcohol. We started out with elote and it was really good! The chips and guac were good but the guac has cucumber pieces in them. That was different. And I had the street tacos (they give you 5). I had 2 birria, 2 carnitas and 2 pastor. Superb! The carnitas were probably my favorite one though. If I have more time I'll visit again before I leave. Update- these were so good I came back the next day lol

Yelp
food is good. toppings self serve bar. drinks bar is big. street parking only. good happy hour + daily specials. super delicious watermelon margarita - not crazy about extra sweet drinks but this is perfect.

Yelp
Love this place! It's like a chipotle but obviously for tacos! lol You can choose any protein that you like and the toppings! I got 3 tacos (shrimp ceviche, carne asada, and chicken) The shrimp was my favorite. You can order to go, or sit inside and eat. Plenty of space and tables/seats. Bathroom could prob use a good cleaning Drinks are also available, as well as a bar. Street parking I want one of these in my area !

Yelp
I gave it another chance and decided I'd review it on the third "second chance" to see what was the consistent experience and 3 out of 4 times, this place has been great! Super friendly staff during the day and late at night. The bar environment is fun with 80's and 90's music videos. Love it. I came here tonight after drinks and brought my friend and she was blow away! The street tacos "carnitas" are the way to go and the margarita on the rocks never fails! I'm glad I give second chances!

Yelp
I'm not going to put that much effort into this review because I don't want to waste my time helping a business that is deceitful and dishonest to customers. They overcharged us significantly more than the advertised on the menu. I was very excited to try this place that was on my list. Lots of options for meats, fresh salsas, and enticing happy hour deals. We went on a Thursday during the 4-7pm happy hour where the frozen margaritas are advertised to be $5.99 ea and the tacos de alambre were 50% off. I asked how much the small versus large margaritas were. (More like XS vs Small). The cashier said 5.99 and and 10.99. We chose the 5.99 option. We were a party of 3, all ordering a full meal and drinks. However, the cashier charged us full price everything and showed her the poster. I asked her if she would honor the happy hour price (we were there around 6:30pm). She begrudgingly discounted my tacos de alambre. I then asked her if she would honor the price of the small margaritas. She insisted that she already put the discount, but the price said 21.98 for two margaritas. Mind you, these were the tiny ones. I didn't argue with her any more because I frankly wanted to just have my food and leave. I spoke to her in Spanish, which I am bilingual in but not fluent. She may have thought that she could take advantage of us because of that reason. I was excited and now so disappointed. I wanted to like it but I do not appreciate when the establishment falsely advertises prices and then lies to the customers for greater profit. I will not be coming here again and I will warn others about our experience.

Yelp
This was a great taco place to eat at after coming back from a concert late at night. The place was close to our hotel so I was able to get there within walking distance. When I first walked in, I can tell this place was popular with how many people were dining in and ordering. The lighting was a bit dark and it was a bit loud with how late it was plus there was a soccer game going on. The line wasn't too long and the staff services people quickly. The staff was bilingual, but I loved how accommodating they were to their customers. I love Birria tacos, but I've been disappointed with overly sweet Birria tacos so I ordered a couple along with some water. I'm so glad I ordered it because that was a great Birria taco and the sauce was perfectly balanced! They also have a tiny bar where you can pick some sides like pico de gallo. Despite how crowded it was, I was able to find a seat and enough table space to eat. Best late night meal I could ask for! I will travel to Houston to eat here again. Worth the trip!

Yelp
Great experience! Enjoyed the Tacos for sure!! Great customer service as well. Parking was a challenge but outside that the food and spot was great

Yelp
I love street tacos but I was not impressed... Way to greasy for me and the meat lacked flavor...

Yelp
My sister and I were getting very hungry at a coffee shop that didn't have any food so we looked up breakfast spots on the way to our next place. This came up, so we tried it out. Luckily, there was parking in front of the restaurant, which was nice. The music was interesting, they had rap from the 90s and early 2000s playing, which wasn't what I would have expected from a Mexican taco restaurant but it was fun. Decor was very colorful. We got bean and cheese breakfast tacos and then a side of chips to pair with the salsa bar. The salsas were all spicy; my sister got the pico and said every that had a kick to it. Yes, we are very white and will admit that we can't handle spice well so take this with a grain of salt. Bean and cheese tacos seemed to be the only breakfast option available. The other 1-2 tables seemed to already have lunch items even though it was only 11 or 11:30 am. Summary: if you can handle some spice, check this place out. If spice isn't really your thing, this might not be your spot.

Yelp
Not a bad spot for lunch, Happy Hour, or Late night. I hit them up during HH on Taco Tuesday. I highly suggest going in while the deals are going on. I think the food is very good, the service is ok. I sat on the bar side, they have lots of drinks to choose from, beer on tap, frozen drinks, and full bar. One of the few issues I had was my Beer being flat. Super Sampler: a good mix of tacos and chalupas. If you are not sure what to get I say go for this, or if you are splitting with someone. It was all good. The Ceviche was fresh and a nice contrast to the rest of the tacos. However the Chorizo con papa tostada was my favorite item. It just had a great flavor profile. The Gringos with chicken: nice sized flour tortilla with all the fixings. This is a solid taco and if you wanted flour tortilla and not a street taco you cant go wrong with these. Street tacos: I tried the Birria, Asada, Pastro, and Carnitas. I wil say the carnitas was probably my favorite as they were flavorful and came with chicharrons as a toping. However all were good. Catch these on taco Tuesday and the price is not bad at only $1.69 Beef Quesadilla: this was on HH for $6. It is a good sized Quesadilla that comes with all the accoutrements on the side. The next time I visit I want to try the Tortas, they look very good. In the end this is so close to being 5 star, if you are down town looking for some good tacos give this place a try. I would recommend and come again.

Yelp
Quesabirrias were DELICIOUS and Spicy! Just how I like it A bit too pricy for the small portions The place was pretty and small

Yelp
Best drunk tacos downtown! DASSIT. That's the review. Go when you're sober too. There's going to be a line, but it goes by fast so just wait for it.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Not sure why this places was so busy. The tacos were decent but I am it eager to go back and stand in line for $20 worth of three small queso-birria tacos. I ordered mine to-go. The flavors was a medium heat with fresh diced onions but I just didn't see the value for the price point.
google avatar

Maggie Y.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday is a must! Tacos are $1.69 each you can have a choice of any of the tacos! I'd skip the shrimp ceviche it just tastes like cocktail shrimp to me! All the rest is good but my fave is the Carnitas! You can grab tacos and sit in the bar next door which has a door connecting to their bar! They didn't have Pina Colada the day I went sadly. Or for more quiet dining help yourself to the salsa bar and sit and eat in the taco cafeteria style restaurant! You order they make it fresh and you grab it and pay! All the staff seem to speak mostly Spanish! They also have free wifi but I forgot their password. Ask any of the staff!
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't have the highest expectations coming into this establishment but I tell you they had some delicious tacos! I ordered the Carnitas and they have so many varieties to choose from. A variety of drinks to choose from as well. I walked over on my lunch break one day and tried them out. I have gone back several times since then. You can choose what you like on your food so I enjoy the custom additives and ingredients. The atmosphere is very chilled and laid back, I enjoyed the decoration and the "I LOVE TACOS" on the wall. The service was very professional and fast paced I didn't wait long at all. A great taco place when you're hungry and in a hurry.

Yelp
I love the street tacos here. They are just delicious! I first had their tacos when we used to live in midtown but they unfortunately had to close this location due to a fire that happened. I'm glad they have this downtown location that is open late at night and that is close to our house. I am just a fan of their street tacos. It's filling and it's also quick and easy to eat. I had their strawberry frozen margarita for the first time. It was strong so it was perfect. They also have other deals on other days that's worth checking out like Margarita Mondays. It may be hard to understand the person taking my order because I don't speak Spanish but I think their street tacos are still great and I will be back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Really like street tacos and these were yummy!! Highly recommend this place when in downtown Houston.
google avatar

Melinda R.

Yelp
This is a good place to come too late night. The menu was very simple, the service was great. We got the street tacos which came in 5. We got 2 asada, 1 carnitas and 2 pastor. We also got a bag of chips and guacamole. It was satisfying.
google avatar

Layde T.

Yelp
The food is great, but the attitude of the servers leaves little to be desired. The place is clean and the food is hot.
google avatar

Daysi L.

Yelp
This place seems hella tex mex. A date brought me here saying it was amazing or whatever. It was alright tho. Not good enough for the price. This plate was like $15. I didn't like the margarita i got. I guess if you're in downtown and hungry go here? idk i prefer el big bad honestly. i know that's still tex mex but they do it better! Service was okay i think i don't really remember.

Yelp
I was visiting my mom and this place was literally two blocks from her home. I visited La Calle once prior and I loved it. Unfortunately this experience was horrible. We were not greeted or acknowledged upon our entrance. There two sides. We decided to sit close to the bar because that's were you have to sit if you want an Alcoholic beverage. No wait staff came to our table so we decided to go order on the other side, which was the to go line. The servers at the to-go line were way more friendlier and accompanying. I will not return back to this establishment due to the rudeness of the wait staff in the bar area. The waiters served everyone around our table but ours. I didn't know what was the issue because their were other African Americans at the restaurant. There was a soccer game that had everyone's attention. But look here your getting paid to work not watch soccer. The food was good but the service did not match. I wont be recommending this establishment in the future due to my last experience and they won't be getting my hard working money again!
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
First time visiting this taco joint. I loved the concept that they have, a smooth and quick ordering system. They have drinks, including beers in a cooler that you can grab first, and then you proceed to ordering your tacos directly from the staff, so you see the way they're making them in front of you. Menu is not too big, very simple, good options. Staff was not very friendly, or accommodating. Cool concept, love the salsa bar, they have spicy options, which is not so typical, I love spicy. Food was all right, very greasy. The space is divided in two, they have a bar next-door, where you can also sit down and order food. Cool space, recommend.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
My fiancé and I were driving around and wondering what we should eat. We saw this place and stopped and OMG these tacos were BOMB!!!! and the hot sauces where yummy There's also a bar included in the same area which i thought was cool but i'd definitely come back. The sauces are in a separate area but have all types of variety. It's a yummy place for sure
google avatar

Kerry M.

Yelp
Simple menu, but very authentic tasting food! I ordered the torta (asada & carnitas) and was so excited to devour it that I failed to take a pic. So sorry.
google avatar

Kiara M.

Yelp
Bread was fresh out the oven texture not sure it's baked in house or from a local bakery. Extremely fresh. Tacos were 10/10 and the margaritas aren't for the weak. As a Hispanic my tastebuds when it comes to eating out I'm are very picky when it's Mexican food. This was a Taste of Mexico for sure . Their prices are set to give you a peace of Mexico . Reminded me of when I ate in piedras negras . Worth every penny ! I will definitely be returning !

Alex R.

Yelp
Great Mexican food, awesome fast service, good music and great tasting drinks!! In our time visiting Houston we visited this restaurant 3 times it was so good lol
google avatar

Jana W.

Yelp
I love a good street taco, and this place does a solid job and doesn't over complicate it. Good flavored meat, onion, cilantro, and lime. Are they significantly more expensive than you'd pay at a truck, yes. Do they have more overhead for a brick and mortar, yes. But I get to dance in line to whatever is playing on the TV, so it's a win-win for me. This will stay a solid favorite.
google avatar

Zanarah K.

Yelp
Late nigtht tacos spot in downtown. Bar open as well next door. Haven't been here in years first time in a while. Ate at the bar and got quick service. Tacos were delish and satisfying. Parking spots available but only a few. Overall good late night spot!
google avatar

Valeria A.

Yelp
Attended quickly & nicely. They were filling & delicious! They have a little stand where you can add as many salsas and more on your taco. The Ambiance is nice & great to stop by for a quick lunch.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
The decor in this spot is pretty cool and there's seating so that's nice. I think my son was the only one who truly enjoyed his tacos (which is why the 3 stars). We got 2 orders of street tacos so we could try all the variety. The meat was VERY spiced. The quesa-birria also left my lips burning. They were just too spicy for no reason. The service was sort a cafeteria line type of set up which causes some confusion with large orders at the cashier. They have a nice selection of Mexican soft drinks and drinks beer. I probably won't be back due to the unnecessary heat of ALL the tacos.
google avatar

Brandon D.

Yelp
I was visiting Houston, was in the mood for tacos and margaritas, found this place on yelp happy hour is from 4-7 I came during happy hour, I had a corn taco that comes with a yelp check in, also taco de alambre. They were both delicious. A Margarita for 5$ also a strawberry Margarita and a shot of tequila . We sat at the bar the bartender was awesome, there is 2 parts of the restaurant, the bartender gave great service, atmosphere was captivating. We got drunk and full for less than 30$
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
I will always stop by this place when I'm in downtown. The food hits the spot every time. Authentic tacos and food. I love the place for lunch or to grab a drink late night. The staff is always so friendly and hardworking! I love the decor it's old school and gives off the perfect Mexican vibe that makes me feel nostalgic. Please try! I get the carnitas street tacos. Love that they have pork skin and the birria on the side for a yummy dip. They have a condiment bar to add different salsas of your choice and toppings. Cold beers or jarritos are always on ice. And agua frescas too!
google avatar

Britni J.

Yelp
It's been weeks since we visited Houston and my daughter and I still rave about the Quesabirria street tacos from La Calle Tacos 9/10. They were perfectly fried and the consume had a little kick my mouth waters just thinking about them. We had Jamaica agua fresca to drink 8/10. There were 4 flavors, but we only tried that one. The vibe was energetic and upbeat on a Monday night. We were pleased. 8/10 The service was quick, fast, and friendly. Just like I like it 10/10
google avatar

Sreyoshi B.

Yelp
Right in the heart of downtown Houston is this colorful gem with the tastiest and most fresh tacos one can find! We went on a weekday for lunch and enjoyed delectable ceviche and chicken tacos with crispy chips and guacamole and cheesy corn in a cup. Really you cannot go wrong visiting here!
google avatar

T C.

Yelp
Food and drinks were good. I liked the vibe and music and it's open late which was a plus! Came after the rockets game and by the time we left the line was out the door!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was alright, A bit expensive for the portions. Horchata was not good at all. Atmosphere is loud, not my vibe but i could see some people enjoying it. Bathrooms were dirty. Overall i give this place a 6/10

Lorena R.

Yelp
It was late when we visited, around 11:00pm.... Ordered a lemonade and the 5 street tacos, 2 chicken, 3 asado. Lemonade was good. The tacos are skimpy on the meat filling. The chips were crispy and the guac was overwhelmed by the large chunks of cucumber. I would say we got more cucumbers than actual guac... there's a condiments bar with all the fixings. The place had a line, but it moved quickly. The staff works quick, but don't expect a friendly smile or special attention. They're working on getting your food done and the line moving! Plenty of tables and chairs as as some outdoor seating. There's a bar attached but we didn't wonder to that side. It wasn't very loud when we visited, possibly because it was late. Definitely a place to visit for a quick bite on a late night.
google avatar

Mimi M.

Yelp
I ordered 50 street tacos for delivery they were soggy by the time they got here... the tortillas weren't even doubled up might of made a difference. Pretty much stuck together and fell apart not ordering from there any time soon.

Yelp
Oh I will be back lol. Stumbled in here because of the Yelp check in offer for a free Lima colada (or taco). This place seems pretty authentic and sells their street tacos in batches of 5. You can pick any fillings all for the flat pie ice or around $12. They are the typical small like 3in tacos but they are goooood. Even includes the birria taco and babay their consume is ‍ . I also tried the shrimp ceviche taco with a cold filling that was yummy. They have a toppings bar with sauces, cilantro, onions and more. They did not have the Pima cola do but I asked to substitute with the frozen marg and they begrudgingly agreed. It was a super small glass like for a shot so you'd probably be better off getting the taco but the mark was tasty. We sat on the bar side and a server came around to check on us. We all enjoyed our food and plan to come back. It is downtown so parking is a pain but they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Came here this morning to get breakfast for a few of my employees. I ordered the 20 taco bundle. I made it back to the stadium to put the tacos out and it was only 15 tacos. I called the restaurant to let them know and the Hispanic lady told me it wasn't true because they give you 4 of each tacos... I advised her I only chose 3 meats, not 4 and she said it was still not true because she was there, and so was I. When the lady asked what the 4th meat was I told her to add more to the other tacos she already made. I asked the lady on the phone her name but she refused to give it to me. I advised her I was going to go online and write a review regarding my experience, and then she told me to just come back to get the other 5, but I didn't. I'm not going back but check your orders before you leave.

Yelp
La Calle = Taco Heaven This eccentric little taco store in downtown Houston is nothing short of authentic, delicious food. With a small menu, La Calle is able to focus on providing quality ingredients with every order. We came here on a Friday evening around 6pm, and there were only a couple of seated tables. It seemed like the majority of the customers coming in and out were ordering to go. My husband and I ordered the chilangos, torta mixta and a side of elote. First things first, let's taco bout the star of the show - the Chilangos. This dish includes 5 street tacos with your choice of meat and a heaping bowl of consumme for you to dip. We chose the saudero, carnita, shrimp ceviche and two pastors. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Paired with the taco bar's toppings (cilantro, raw onions, grilled onions, lettuce, Pico, sauces), these tacos were insanely flavorful. And with the consumme dip? Hands down, some of the best I've ever had. The torta included two meats, plenty of fresh avocado and other veggies, along with a cup of consumme dip. Easily shareable and highly recommended, I wasn't a big torta fan h til trying this one. The only thing that didn't stick out to me was the elote. It was good but nothing real special. Definitely will be back here for some amazing street tacos that pack a punch with every bite.

I feel robbed. The tiniest tacos for $13. I got the street tacos and not only was there barely any meat but it wasn't even meat it was all the fatty parts barely any meat. SMH. Never coming here again. And don't recommend it all.

Yelp
It's good tacos, for a fair price. Waited 2 hours for our food, but because it was a long line and some people placing large orders. I will say, it didn't make sense the bar area receiving their food extremely fast and us standing in line for over an hour. But over all good tasted good and would try out during the day.

Yelp
I am not a fan of this place. Ordered 10 street tacos, 3 gringo tacos, and 1 esquite. Food was very soggy with oil. I tried to take a couple bites, but the oil gushing out just made me spit everything out. The flavor in the meats are there. I just don't understand why the whole taco was so oily. I couldn't eat anything. Very disappointing. The esquite isn't traditional. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I just ate all the corn bc I was starving. I gave them 2 stars because the meats had good flavor and smoke. If you enjoy tacos dripping in oil, you might enjoy this place, but it's a no for me.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by La Calle as soon as we arrived in Houston. We got a variety of things to try: the three taco plate (chicken, asada, birria), a quesadilla with birria, street corn, ceviche, and an agua de Jamaica. I'm not going to lie; the only thing I enjoyed was the birria. La called makes excellent birria and I would 100% recommend it. If you order birria, it also comes with a side of consume and it is delicious!! So so good. Everything else wasn't that great honestly, the meat for the asada was dry; the ceviche tasted like it was 2 days old and the tostadas were made out of their tortillas so they broke very easily. The street corn had some veggies in it and it tasted like it came from a can, lots of boiled water in it too. The jamaica was okay, I wish they had larger cups and that they gave you more ice. I did like that all of their salsas, chiles, onion, and cilantro were on the side, so you could get as much as you wanted. Overally, I would definitely come back, but only for the birria!

Yelp
Great tacos at a great price and they stay open late! Just go! Tacos in the pic were about $13-15.
