21 Standout LGBTQIA+-Owned Restaurants & Gay Bars In London

"La Camionera is London’s most talked-about lesbian bar, following a traffic-stopping pop-up on Broadway Market. From the team behind Dalston Superstore’s hottest trans masc night body2body, Alex Loveless and Clara Solis have worked tirelessly, funded by the community, to open this bar on Well Street. With shiny stainless steel stools, a warm terracotta colour scheme, and a fig tree in the garden, they have achieved the full, gay, Mediterranean fantasy in Hackney. Serving coffee and pastries during the day, and wine and cocktails in the evening, La Camionera is a sexy, laid-back alternative to east London’s louder queer destinations." - rachel rumbol

Lovely lesbian bar with friendly staff and a vibrant vibe- not so ideal for solo customers, as it's more of a chat-with-your-buddies type of place and gets pretty noisy. The hibiscus margarita and campari spritz was delightful, though. Would love to visit again with friends next time!

Lovely lesbian bar with friendly staff and a really nice vibe - I do think it's worth the hype! Only thing I would say is that it's not so much a go alone and 'mingle with new people' kind of place, most people are sitting with friends. A good place to bring or meet a date! There is also a lovely little garden at the back, and the decor, lighting is nice in the place too. We had fun and will def be back.

Great atmosphere! I wish every bar in London was like this. I’ve been here twice so far. The first time was just for drinks (loved the Campari Spritz) and the second time small plate foods too. Liked the patatas bravas the most.

Came for the first time for a birthday and we were sat outside. It was a really tight squeeze, super cold, and because we were a big group, we felt constantly in the way of other guests smoking/getting to the smoking area. Service was slow, and the vibes were just… odd. It felt like a gentrified space, more than a queer space. To make matters worse, they told us we had a booking until a certain time, and then completely kicked us out of the Garden (where we were seated), because they were closing the garden. We were told to go inside but there was nowhere to stand, let alone sit. We ended up leaving and going to the pub next door. As someone who donated to the crowdfunding page to make the space accessible, I did sit there a Trans POC wondering what accessibility looks like. It didn’t feel like a space for me, and many of my BIPOC friends agree. Food options were super limited and more “snacks” than tapas. Was super excited about the opening of this place so just a little bit disappointed that it felt so unapproachable/unwelcoming. Definitely rooting for it as a venue, so I hope with time the critiques are taken in, and changes are made x

We booked as a group of 6 and were seated outside in winter but it was cold and so we asked to be sat indoors. We were seated at a one person table with 6 stools which made me think how curious is is to offer bookings of that size, and we had to squish the people next to us on their date. Once we'd been moved inside the smoke from the outdoor area was all we could smell and there was nowhere to put coats or bags. The service was not friendly and ignored our table for so long we ended up leaving without being served and going to the local pub next door which was great. We were so sad because sapphic spaces are so rare for us but it didn't meet any of our needs :(

Wonderful vibes, totally inclusive, staff lovely, great selection of wine and the food was delicious (I'd highly recommend the lamb cigars!). Would absolutely return!

Get a reservations if you want a guaranteed seat. one of ladies sorted me out and i was able to be seated. My Campari spritz was definitely spritz’n (10/10). Bathroom was outta order when i was there but you can use the one at the pub like 20 steps away no problem. I’m an introvert & just sipped my drink in a corner and was fine. It is loud with all the talking though (i just put in headphones). I’d recommend bringing a friend though cause unless you knew people then it’s hard to just interject into people’s world(that may just be a personal introvert issue)

Very disappointing experience, even though we had been looking forward to visiting for a couple of months. Started out with us awkwardly waiting in the narrow passage at the bar while our reserved table was getting ready, all while staff and guests squeezed past us several times. We were finally seated in a very uncomfortable and cramped table with short stools and no space to keep our bags and coats; even though bigger, more comfortable tables and chairs for the same capacity were avaliable and offered to guests that arrived much after us. The staff was not knowledgeable about their already limited menu and the bar was not stocked with basics. More importantly, we felt unwelcomed as people of colour. We left after quickly finishing our first drink. The establishment needs to work on being more inclusive in actionable ways. Hope this is not experienced by other BIPOCs visiting the space.
