Came here for a double birthday dinner, my first time dining here. It was really simple making the reservation through Open Table. The restaurant is 3 stories and located in Rockville Town Center. You can easily park for free at the Spot underground garage just across the street or validate 2 hour free parking in garages A, B, or C.
Prices: I couldn't find prices online anywhere, so I've posted pictures of the menu so now everyone has them :) Dinner was pricey at $45 per head, but we did order 2 appetizers, 1 juice ($3.75), 1 beer ($6), and 2 desserts ($8 each). Average is $20-25 per entree, which for the service, ambiance, portion size, and quality of food, was actually pretty reasonable. The big kicker though was the "appetizer" we unknowingly ordered that was actually $33. Server recommended a popular off-menu entree "Jalea de Mariscos" (assortment of fried seafood) for a group of our size as an appetizer, rather than the $14 calamari we were about to order. However, he didn't disclose the price, and we naively thought it couldn't be more than twenty-some dollars. Shocked to find out our small appetizer was the priciest thing we bought! It was delicious, but in my opinion, not worth the price -- get the $32 lamb shank instead... The mixed ceviche was also small for $17.
Food: Overall excellent. Aside from the appetizers which were much too small, the entrees were very large. Our entrees were all delicious: 1) Bacalao a lo macho (deconstructed seafood paella), 2) lomo saltado, 3) fetuccini a la huancaina, 4) seco a la nortena, 5) arroz con mariscos. Lomo saltado reminded me of Chinese sizzling steak. The huancaina sauce is a spicy cheese sauce. The seco a la nortena -- be warned, mainly just beans and not a ton of meat, but the meat was tender and the beans were delicious. Arroz con mariscos was like a seafood paella - delicious. both desserts were unique and delicious.
Service: very pleasant dining experience. Hostess was kind and apologetic for any time we had to wait. Our server spent a lot of time explaining the history behind the restaurant/food (everything, including sauces, is made fresh in-house) and highlighting popular menu choices. He was very good at explaining what different items tasted like since we were unfamiliar with Peruvian cuisine for the most part. Relatively quick at getting us what we asked for. They didn't do anything special for our party even though the waiter knew it was for a birthday and I indicated on the reservation that it was for a birthday. I heard other tables being sung to, but maybe they forgot or ran out of time.
All in all, I definitely would come back for a nice fine dining experience or special occasion, but order a little smarter to get a little more bang for our buck.
