The 14 Best Restaurants in Kendall, Miami | Eater Miami

"With its second location opening at the Palms at Town & Country, chef Michelle Bernstein’s Caribbean and Cuban-inspired eatery is a welcome addition to Kendall’s dining scene. On a recent visit, the conch fritters, dusted with cayenne-powdered sugar, and the boneless yellowtail with garlic sauce and coconut rice did not disappoint. Other menu options include ham, shrimp scampi, or mushroom croquetas, empanadas, ceviche, oxtail lasagna, steaks, and arroz con pollo. Happy hour, with discounted drinks and food, is offered every day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., but it will soon be available from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m." - Stacy Moya

We've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a few weeks. Finally made it tonight but with the purpose of assessing for a large gathering. We met Henry as we walked in and I stated the main purpose of our visit in addition to having dinner. Henry took the time to explain the options, described the set up and took my information for the coordinator to reach as well as giving me her information. We then proceeded to our table, where we were fortunate to meet Juliette. Service was outstanding! Professional, friendly and caring! We shared an order of guacamole as well as a lechon asado. Both were flavorful and more than enough for the two of us. My husband insisted on trying the coconut rice, which was amazing. We got there just as the musicians finished playing however the music that was playing over the sound system was good music but not overbearing. Atmosphere is warm, reminding me a little of old times but with a bit of a modern vibe. Cañitas is open from 5:00 PM on, with lunch service plans in the making. We will be back on a Sunday for the nostalgic music day, which was highly recommended by both Henry and Juliette!

This is one of the best spots for food lovers! Chef Erick is well-Known in Miami for his rich latin cuisine. Trust me, you won't regret trying any of his delicious dishes! We try to make it here once a month to try all his plates. Great service, excellent atmosphere with live music! You won't regret it!!

Google
It's definitely a higher level of Latin/Cuban food and drinks! Awesome service! Absolutely delicious. More like gourmet food with a Cuban/ Latin flair! Definitely worth it. Great entertainment and fun place in Kendall.

Google
Went for a Friday Miami spice date night. Amazing food, from the appetizers to the dessert. There's live music and the band plays really well. Eric, our server, was incredibly attentive and gave a lot of great recommendations. Definitely recommend for a fun date night.

Google
First impression, wow. Decor is beautiful, reminds me of an old hotel with high ceilings and an expansive bar. Live music a super plus in my eyes but that's where the nostalgia ended. Drinks were average, food was very average I've honestly had better at the corner cafeteria for half the price. The yellowtail snapper was advertised as being "off the bone" however it was a whole snapper which at $44 was expensive even by Keys standards. Overall, the place falls short as it's pricing indicates high end, luxury dining but with a VERY average cuisine. One and done here folks

Google
Came to La Canita, not knowing what to expect. We got here early and sat at the bar, listened to the live band. Music was good not to loud. When it was time to sit we were right next to the band. The music wasn’t loud just right to enjoy. The food was good and the price was not off the charts. Highly recommend this new restaurant in Kendall. Cudo’s to Michelle Berstein who gives us another excellent restaurant.

Stephanie Lichtenstein

Google
Of course any Michey restaurant is welcome and this one is also amazing. Our server Javier was fantastic and the music and food was top notch. Don’t forget to try a cocktail. The bar was also very lively and all the food was super tasty. Would highly recommend and be back.

William Santana

Google
Excellent happy hour. $6 daiquiris done classically (good) was a great surprise. All the cocktails are done at the highest level for that matter. Great homework for amateur bartenders (I studied a bunch hckk). The live music was great too. Yeah I like this place.

Yelp
Me encantó el ambiente y la comida espectacular por la chef Michelle Bernstein. La verdad lo recomiendo 100% espectacular para ir en pareja

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this restaurant for about a month after walking by one Saturday night and catching a glimpse of the live music and vibrant atmosphere. We finally came to celebrate my sister's birthday with a group of 10, and it did not disappoint. The decor was absolutely stunning--modern with rich dark green accents and a speakeasy-inspired ambiance that immediately sets the mood for a special night out. We started with the pork belly, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. The ham and cheese croquetas were decadent and a crowd favorite. My fiancé and I had mojitos, which were boozy, refreshing, and well-balanced. The live band added to the inviting vibe, and they even sang happy birthday to my sister, which was a lovely touch. For our entrees, the portions were generous. Most of us ordered the ropa vieja, a classic Cuban dish--the shredded beef was tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with sweet plantains. We also tried the lechón, which was citrusy, juicy, and packed with flavor. My fiancé went for the oxtail lasagna, which he thoroughly enjoyed--though the portion was smaller compared to the others, the richness of the dish made up for it. All in all, this place delivered on experience, flavor, and vibe. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
A good friend brought me here after hearing good things -- this is apparently a celebrity chef's restaurant -- so we checked out the Town & Country location. Later I realized I had actually been to the Bayside location years earlier post-pandemic. That one is nicely designed but too touristy -- food and service were just OK when I visited with my coworkers. Town & Country has a more refined look -- clearly not a budget build. Materials and finishes are higher-end, though the design is simpler than Bayside's. The space isn't small but still lacked a cozy feel, maybe due to how it's laid out. That said, it's still nicer than 99% of restaurants out there and it's a cool place to bring someone on a date or to somewhere different. There's a small front stage with live music -- a nice touch if you like that. I personally don't love loud music while eating since it makes conversation tough. No cover charge (at least not on weekdays), but expect the entertainment to be baked into the menu prices. This is Cuban cuisine, but prices are 2-3x the norm. A $28 Ropa Vieja? Wild -- but to be fair, you're paying for ambiance, presentation, and live music. My $24 Lechón Asado with Yuca and Chicharrón looked great and was generously portioned. The chicharrón? Too-tier. But the lechón itself was a letdown -- soft, yes, but tasted boiled and flavorless, like it was drowned in store-bought sour orange mojo. No seasoning came through. I could only eat about 60% of it. A few maduros might've helped balance the overpowering sourness of the 99% sour orange based mojo. Chicharrón was otherworldly -- I'd give it 6/5. Yuca was half-decent, with the other half being undercooked with the fibrous core still inside -- 2/5. The mushroom croquettes were a big surprise -- cheesy with just enough mushroom flavor. Definitely order them -- 5/5. My vegetarian friend had the Watermelon Caprese and gave it a 5/5. It looked delicious - emphasis on 'looked' LOL. Dessert (flan) was reasonably priced and a solid 4/5. Came topped with pickled papaya, which neither of us really got it's point -- felt like they were trying too hard. Service was friendly but not very attentive -- I went without water for 20+ minutes. We had to flag our server down a couple of times. Overall: 4 out of 5 for design, ambiance, and quality ingredients. Not your typical Cuban spot -- expect some hits and misses.

Yelp
What a fabulous new spot in Kendall! The service here was great as our server was always attentive and gave us good recommendations. The meat was tender and juicy. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned, paired with a nice aïoli sauce. We ordered the classic Mojito, which our server recommended, it was refreshing and minty. The best part about this place was the live music they played! The only con was that it was loud, so talking to your table might be a struggle, but other than that the vibes were great! People were dancing and having a great time. We ended the dinner with a strong Cafecito and churros.

Yelp
Happy hour in La Cañita is a fun way to start your weekend. Walking into a warm and inviting decor, you're greeted by a courteous and friendly hostess . The bar area comes alive and that's because people like Josuan and Ray -are not only top rate bartenders, but treat you as if you're friends. The bar food is not what you'd expect from HH bites, we're talking Michelle Bernstein level... need I say more. Pan con Lechon ( just try... ) another favorite , though all were amazing was the Queso Frito. To describe will not do it justice. It has to be experienced. Shout out to the talented musicians who add to the fun ambience. La Cañita in Kendall has the trifecta for success. Great food, friendly service, and warm and inviting ambience. Wishing them continued success.

Yelp
The pros: The food was all top tier for brunch Sunday. I got the Cuban style eggs Benedict and it was so tangy and deliciously flavored with a nice twist to the original Benedict. I also got a espresso martini which was strong but sweet and balanced nicely between the liquor and coffee shot. The cons: it was loud as hell! I mean you have to scream at your date to hear each other loud lol. Maybe it's because it was Mother's Day (they had a nice Cuban band but seriously... two decibles lower would've gone a long way). The waiter forget my cocktail so had to ask a few times but it was pretty busy. They made my mother in law take off her hat when we walked in. Over all I would go again. Definitely was a good time.

Yelp
When we arrived, we were told that there is a two hour max for service, it is stated on the website. The ambiance is rather nice, since there was live music. Once were all seated, our server, Ray, brought over water and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. We ordered our drinks and they were brought over rather quickly, which is good! For our appetizers, we shared the croquetas, the conch fitters and the beef empanadas, all were really good. For my entree, I had the snapper filet and it was delicious. The rest of the entrees looked really good too. For dessert, we shared the churros and a tres leches, both were good. If you like live music, I recommend that you go early, so that you can really enjoy it. I'd recommend this place for dinner.

Yelp
Best happy hour in town! And it's 5 days a week! Wed-Sun 5-8pm! Not only do they have a happy Hour that last passed 5 or 6 but the food quality and price are unbeatable! Croquetas, Cuban bread and buratta spread, cuviche and the best ban con lechon we've ever had (I think the guys had 2 each from how good they were) all on happy hours. You can pair it with a margarita, mojito, or old fashion and you're not spending more than $50 a person to leave fulfilled! Not there for happy hour? Don't worry, they have a full menu that still more reasonably priced than any other place in Miami. And now they have Sunday brunch!! Sit at their massive bar or on the main floor and enjoy their live band that sounds like they came out of a Cuban record. I'm in love with this place. Definitely 10 stars for me!

Yelp
This place is a fantastic addition to the Kendall scene. I visited La Cañita on Saturday night with my family to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday. The server named Erick was super nice and attentive providing quick service even though it was packed and you could tell he was busy. We all ordered a variety of appetizers and dishes with the Ropa Vieja and the gnocchi being the stand out plates. They serve huge plates so be aware. We also ordered the pork belly, croquetas, empanadas and other main dishes which were all great. The venue had a live band playing which was a great boost to the ambiance but it was very loud, if you're trying to go and enjoy conversation, maybe it's not the place for you but we wanted the live music so it was perfect for a celebration! Overall I recommend this place and will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Wow. I could end this review with that one word. This restaurant absolutely wowed me. The food alone would warrant five stars. The phenomenal service could bring it up to five stars even if the food were only half as good. The decor is conducive for anything from a family meal to romantic cocktails and date night. Bit then add in music...but not your usual restaurant live band. These guys are talented. They get folks out of their seats and dancing. Multitalented artists with a vaiety of traditional instruments. Just wow. We drop by for a late dinner after a movie so we really weren't that hungry. My wife ordered chicken empanadas and I ordered the Ropa Vieja As someone who frequents Cuban restaurants in the past, I have to say these were both among the best I have ever eaten. I would've left a clean plate if portion was not so huge. Absolutely delicious. We were not in the mood to drink this evening, but the drink menu is incredibly inviting and we will be back. We noticed they have a happy hour every day and we will be sure to drop by. I love love love this place. And recommended to anybody who wants a wonderful meal with an authentic Havana vibe.

Yelp
Love this place! The service was great. Although we waited very long for all of our drinks (both rounds). Thank you, William, for your great service! Loved the band! The food could use a little more salt on the ropa Viejas and beans. The ham and cheese croquettes, conch, and chicken soup was amazing! Coming again for my mom's bday! Can't wait to bring her here!

Yelp
We came in for an afternoon of drinks and sat at the bar and WOW! Nelson was our bartender and tbh I felt like I was having drinks with family, he made us laugh , had us try new things and really appreciated the art of a cocktail. What a fun experience the environment is beautiful and the live music is the cherry on top. 10/10

Yelp
From the moment we arrived for brunch we were made to feel like one of the family. Our waiter, Erick, was 100% on point with his recommendations. The food was phenomenal and filling; the live music was a pleasant bonus we weren't expecting. Our mimosas and lychee martini were delicious. The entire experience was great! Definitely worth trying if you're in Kendall. We will definitely be returning.

Chabellys C.

Yelp
Not the experience I was hoping for. The food didn't meet expectations, especially given the high prices. Couldn't finish a simple soup. Service could have been much better--our server didn't seem very attentive or helpful when ordering. The bathrooms were dirty, papers on the floor, which was surprising since the place was empty. On a positive note, the live band was fantastic and brought great energy to the space. I really appreciated their presence. With some improvements, this place could offer a much better dining experience.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
There were dishes here that were outstanding, such as the flan and the mushroom croquetas. Keep in mind it's a limited menu for vegetarians, but you will have some plates to choose from or modify. I'm not a big fan of live music when I'm eating, keep this in mind if you like it on the quiet side. I didn't know that they had it when I went to try it out. My friend had the lechon asado and he wasn't thrilled with it, he went against the waitress' recommendation. The place is very nice with a Cuban speak easy vibe and a very elegant bar area. The bathrooms were clean and upscale. I'm glad I went, had been wanting to go for over a year and so glad they opened up in Kendall. Service was were it should be with a touch of spotty. Drink menu looked really good. Worth your time.

Yelp
I came here for the first time at the Kendall location and oh my god it did not disappoint. Once you walked you definitely didn't feel like you were in Kendall anymore. The vibe was amazing and the live band was great. I came to have dinner with a friend and we shared the croquetas de Jamón and shared their NY strip which was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We had the churros for dessert which were so good. Erick was our waiter and he was very attentive to us. He checked in on us frequently even though you could tell he was very busy. Food and drinks came pretty quick. I will definitely be going again.

Yelp
Had the most amazing experience at La Cañita Kendall! We hosted a private event for my daughters after baptism celebration. It was a group of 20 people and everyone commented how amazing everything was! The food was delicious, we got the arroz con pollo, ropa vieja, jam croquetas, chicken empanadas, and churros!! Everything was so so delicious! The drinks were amazing (espresso martini shots so cute!), the cafecito with the dessert. Most of all was the service. Henry, Erick, Marieta, and Yosvan were incredible. Made the entire day so fun, happy, and enjoyable. The location is beautiful. Will definitely be back either for special event or just a dinner or happy hour! If I could give them 10 stars I would!

Yelp
Great food, ambience. Croquetas que very good the live music was great. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Great ambiance and awesome happy hour menu. Their happy hour is from 4pm to 8 pm. Live music. The band is great they play Latin music that makes you get up and dance. Their singer is pretty good and very entertaining. The decorations bring you back to a 1930s vibe kind of a speak easy feel. This is a hidden gem in the Kendall area. We sat at the bar and the two bartenders were excellent. Always made sure we had drinks and food. The old fashioned was very good and it was part of the happy hour specials. Plenty of appetizers from the happy hour menu but our favorite was the lechón sandwich and the empanadas. Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Soooooooo good! Go don't stop just go! Music food a/c on point drinks. Service ! All good. Must try and u will know what I mean. Update. Band went mia on a Sunday on Father's Day. We walked in and the finished there set and took a 1 hour and 45 min .... And has yet to return. Asked waiter and was told they went on break. that's a long break.

Yelp
Brand new reataurant in Kendall and I'm here for it. I really enjoyed the live music and the amazing decor all around the restaurant. They have a full bar but they also have very well crafted and classic cocktails. I had the mojito and it was perfectly concocted. This place has not been open for more than a month so I think the service was 4/5. The waiter and service was OK. We waited a long time for a round of drinks and when we asked the waiter he mentioned he forgot to put in the order. We ordered some Conch fritters and i thought it was cooked perfectly. The chicken soup was delicious and really had a homemade taste to it that reminds me of how my grandma would make it. I also ordered the ropa vieja which had great portions but in all honesty it was very bland and lacked the true flavor of a ropa vieja. Overall it was fun watching the performances and being able to have some drinks and food with a great view.

Maria H.

Yelp
Finally a nice elevated experience in Kendall! Good food, good ambiance and good music!! Hopefully the Kendall crowd knows how to appreciate this gem. A lil version of Cafe la Trova

Yelp
Made reservations at La Cañita Kendall for a birthday with a large party. When we arrived our table was not ready, but shortly after the restaurant was able to accommodate our entire party together. As soon as you walk in live music is playing on the main stage. This restaurant has very nice decor giving it an old world glam vibe. Once we sat down our waiter took our drinks order and we were able to order some appetizers such as the Ham Coquetas the Pork Belly. Everything was delicious! Once we finished our appetizers we went ahead and ordered our main dishes. I ordered that the Trifongo, although it was not what I was expecting, it was very tasty, I do wish the portion was a bit larger given the price. The food here is a twist on Cuban food. That said, one might consider the dishes to be high priced for a regular Cuban restaurant. The live music was great, they would even sing you happy birthday whenever somebody was celebrating. Some folks were even dancing wherever they could find a spot. This is very cute spot in the heart of Kendall. Definitely worth checking out.

Mayi V.

Yelp
Went to their Town & Country location and had a great time! The place has LIVE Cuban music on a small stage and very clean and welcoming. Service was great because we weren't in a hurry and needed to talk between music breaks ! Food was good but not as good as "abuelas" and much more expensive than we expected. But the ambience was fancy Cuban and worth it! They have a large room separate for parties available and parking is free! Glad we went!
google avatar

Haidar H.

Yelp
Roció was our server and she was delightful. She was always closeby with her assistance which was a plus. Food was fantastic and so were all of the cocktails! I can't wait to come back! I love the vibe and the ambience of the space. It's a beautiful atmosphere that makes you feel like you're on the beach or have travelled somewhere new!
google avatar

Leyanis A.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend this place to friends. Drinks were absolutely stunning, food was great and service impeccable we really liked our server Erick. Live music was a plus, a little too loud for me but I can always get a table on the back next time. Because yes , there will be a next time :)
google avatar

Yessica B.

Yelp
The Ambiance is so fun! Love the live band and the music! We arrived at only an hour to close but the music was jamming. I had a mocktail mojito which was yummy. I definitely want to go back.
google avatar

Libia O.

Yelp
The food wasn't that great. Specially not very tasty or visually appealing was the Braised pork over boiled yuka. The server needs training. We were done with our food and our plates stayed forever in front of us..he even brought more drinks that we ordered and still didn't pick up the plates. I just think they're lacking in serving skills, but nice person. The live music was great! Just very short time.
google avatar

Carl T.

Yelp
My server was outstanding. He was attentive, asked about allergies, and made thoughtful recommendations that elevated my experience. I started with the Pork Belly. The dish was phenomenal--so fresh and vibrant! For the mains, I ordered the Local Fish of the Day, a beautifully cooked Yellowtail snapper served on top of fried yuca. The dish was flavorful, balanced, and unforgettable. I wrapped up the meal with flan topped with fresh papayas, and it was the perfect sweet note to end on. It was warm, indulgent, and absolutely delicious! Overall, it was a fantastic experience with excellent food, outstanding service, and a great vibe. I highly recommend this restaurant at Town and Country Mall in Kendall!
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
he restaurant is beautiful with great music. Service was excellent. Great appetizers (had the croquetas and pork belly). However, the menu is limited. There were 8 of us and only 3 liked their food. Perhaps they need to work the kinks out since it's still fairly new. Recommend there are more options on menu
google avatar

Ana G.

Yelp
Food and services was good. Some items were priced high though. Music was way too very loud.
google avatar

Myrna B.

Yelp
The band started playing around 7:30 and I got a Havana 1950s vibe. The service was outstanding and so was the food. The server suggested the mojito, and it didn't disappoint. We had the fried calamari to start. For dinner we ordered the oxtail lasagna and the whole fried fish. The food was amazing, no room for dessert. Will definitely be coming back.

Aurora G.

Yelp
Wonderful 1940's Cuban vibe restaurant. Food was pretty good but service was great! We sat at the bar for happy hour and were treated fabulously by Nelson. The daiquiri and mojito were delicious. We enjoyed ham croquetas, beef empanada, fried cheese, stuffed tostones and cuban toast topped with ricotta and tomatoes. Definitely going back!
google avatar

Jorge R.

Yelp
First the place is very nice and the food is excellent but pricy for the type of food that it is. I had the Oxtail lasagna, it was really good. Now the bad part was the service, could never find our waiter and no bus boys to pick up the dirty plates and empty drink glasses. Also when we where paying he said he had to go around 40 customers to get the receipt. Thats when I told him I wanted a receipt, so we waited a while till he finally came with it. What really frosted me that they "charge for the ICE in our drinks. Honestly that is absorbed. You can't charge these kind of prices and give that kind of service.
google avatar

Miguel R.

Yelp
The food was a little different from the normal Cuban food. We went for Sunday brunch and it was good, not great. The place is decorated like an old bodega or maybe a run down bar now in Cuba. We had a live band for brunch, which made it a little loud for brunch. The cool thing was when a lady from the audience asked if she sit in with the band and she could jam on that piano. The service was good for a party of 12. Our waiter was ok and the drinks and food came out timely. The food was good and a little different, but it seemed to lack that zing that we are used to. I think chef(s) need to taste their creations once again. I'd recommend it for a nice meal and music at night or a date night. If the restaurant does read this, consider live music with just a piano or guitar at brunch or lunch hour instead of a whole band with electrical instruments and microphones. We were screaming at each other to have a conversation. Keep up the good work. OMT, no Cuban coffee? Italian espresso? Why?
google avatar

Jonelle D.

Yelp
Decided to give it a try last weekend. The location is convenient and the restaurant is beautiful. Food was good. Ordered a drink each and they took a long time to come. We got our appetizers and almost finished them before the drinks came. My husband ordered an old fashion and was asked if he wanted a $1.00 upgrade to a block ice cube. This was so strange. We have never been to a place where they charge a $1.00 for an ice cube. Old fashions are always served with a cube or sphere ice cube. Honestly they could just charge a $1.00 more for the drink and no one would even question it, but having to ask if you are willing to pay the $1.00 is unnecessary. Not sure we will return in the future.

Chantelle A.

Yelp
Great experience! Erick was our server and he was great gave us food recommendations and drink recommendations

janet S.

Yelp
Very good ambiance, the service was excellent and food was also very good, loved the music.

Veronica D.

Yelp
Wow. I'm so glad I discovered this gem. It's located in Kendall Town & Country mall near Total Wine. Amazing vibe, drinks, music, and food. The service is phenomenal. I'll be coming back very soon. Kendall needed a place like this.

Rosario C.

Yelp
Our server Eric was attentive and friendly. We told him we were celebrating our sister's birthday. We had reserved a table for 10 and the table was very cramped and small. We were far from the band and the music was good but very loud. Our drinks came quickly and were very good. We ordered the conch fritters and fried cheese appetizer which were mediocre. We shared the arroz con pollo which was also nothing special. Others ordered the tuna, the churrasco, the parrillada, with the same impression although the garbanzo's received high praise. We had wanted coffee and dessert but the wait staff were not available. We were ready to leave and asked for the checks. When I made the reservation I was told if I brought a birthday cake there would be a charge of $3.50 per person so I thought, as in most restaurants, she would receive a complimentary dessert. The wait staff sweetly came out to sing happy birthday with a candle in a glass filled with...whipped cream! This was my sister's birthday dessert? After a mediocre meal and this "not a dessert just a topping " dessert I was so disappointed that I had suggested this for my sister's special day.

Elena G.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Great music, food, drinks and service! Plus a good crowd (of all ages) ....great spot whether you are celebrating with family, friends or a date night. Totally recommend it.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy good music and food. Wonderful service. Must try Vaca Frita with white rice and black beans and sweet plantains. Star

Yelp
I was so hoping this would be great, but I was disappointed. The place is beautiful, the staff was absoulutely amazing, friendly, and engaging. Happy hour appetizers and drinks were good, but you could only get happy hour prices in the bar area, once you were moved to a table, the price doubled. Music started around 7:00pm and was very good. The problem to me was the main menu, very basic Cuban food that I could get accross the street for 1/2 of the price. My friend and I shared the Ropa Viega, and it was just o.k. nothing great. The other friends we were with got the Arroz con Pollo and same thing, just o.k. and $28. for Ropa Vieja or Arroz con Pollo, it should be better, this was just o.k. I was also surprised at the location within the mall, there are so many beautiful spots open on the lake that would have added a great ambiance to the whole experience, but this was near the lake but not visible.
