The Best Pizza Places in D.C. | Eater DC

"Angela and her husband Fabrizio Costantini brought a slice of their native Rome to Eastern Market in 2021 with the opening of a Roman pinsa place. The menu specializes in cloud-like “pinsa” — a pizza that’s curiously crispy on the outside but super soft in the center. Favorites include its ultra-fresh Margherita built with mozzarella Fior di Latte, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh basil or a white La Porchetta pie jazzed up with truffle oil. Know before you go: Don’t sleep on starters like its Italian artichoke “bouquet” and cacio e pepe-flavored arancini." - Tierney Plumb

In looking for a real sit down restaurant to close a week in DC, we stumbled upon La Casina and am so glad we did. The website was great and showed pictures of many of the dishes, which were very helpful. We made a reservation and enjoyed an absolutely fabulous meal tonight. The main dishes are similar to wood fire Neapolitan Pizza, but so different- in an amazing way! The crust was more airy and crisp with toppings so fresh it seemed the tomatoes were picked that morning. I wish we would have found this place on Monday instead of Friday. This is a must stop in the Eastern Market area of DC!

Wonderful people running a lovely unique restaurant. Forget generic “Italian” food, this place has truly authentic dishes made with all the care and love they deserve. Drinks were amazing, food was nothing short of incredible, and if we hadn’t gorged ourselves on food and appetizers I could tell you about the desserts. I’m sure they are lovely.

We absolutely love La Casina - it's our weekly midweek pizza or rather, pinsa spot. Kiddos love the authentic margarita and us adults love to try the chef's specials. (Tonight for example we jist had La Greca which was as refreshing as the name implies!) pinsas Giuseppe, the one with the yellow tomato sauce, mortadella, cacio & peppe, vegetariana are also absolute favorites even though we can't really choose one! The dough - oh, this cloud-like dough

Dined in last weekend for dinner with a 7pm reservation and had an amazing dinner with my girlfriend. Service was attentive and helpful in navigating the menu and options. The toasted bread served with burrata appetizer was the same dough as the pinsa-style pizza and an exciting preview of the pizzas soon to come. Paired with the Carciofi Alla Romana appetizer, we still had room for our pizzas - the Mortadella and Fabrizio's Vesuvio. Our server told us the Vesuvio has a “summer” style where the lighter toppings are added after the pizza is cooked; I asked for the chef’s recommendation and was pleasantly surprised with the summer variety where the cool burrata topping was a refreshing compliment to the pizza’s full flavor. We finished dinner with the “Le Nuvolette Con Nutella” - La Casina’s pinsa dough fried and topped with Nutella and powdered sugar. This incredible combination made me think of a homestyle dessert my (Italian) grandmother would’ve loved and much to French irritation, what I dare call a Roman “Beignet”. The entire dinner from start to finish was unforgettable and a dinner I’d love to experience again and again. After standing up from my table to leave, I had an opportunity to thank the chefs in the open air kitchen behind the bar top (with seats for dining in!) and found Fabrizio and Angela delightful and incredibly passionate for their home-inspired pinsa pizza.

Flew in from Wisconsin my girlfriend and I sat at the bar, both waitresses I believe Emma and Laura were amazing. Super nice. Definitely made it warm and welcoming but to watch the two chefs beat them down definitely made this experience horrible, please treat your staff like you would your family, we stayed for the wait because of Laura and Emma. They were super nice, super energetic but every time they came behind the bar, they just got beat up mentally because the two cooks were yelling at them. The pizza was great but eating it and watching that disgust me. I just wanted to pick them both up and take them home and help them pay their own bills so that they don’t have to work there

Google
Great service, hostess was also our server and she was so friendly. It’s a small spot so it is a little crowded but loved the vibe. The food was fine, my expectations were high since it was recommended to us so I thought I would be obsessed with their apps and pizza but they were just okay. Nothing special. It did have a lot of variety of options on their menu so I might give it a second try to see if I like something else better.

If you're missing Rome and must have a Roman pizza, make it a La Casina! This place is incredible! The pizza is simply the best I've ever had outside of Italy! The wine selection too -- refined but not pretentious! And please, do yourself a favor and save room for desert -- the tiramisu (I had strawberry) is exquisite! The owners working hard for their passion is just the cherry on the top! The wait staff -- super great, as well! This place is a gem and much needed in DC.

If there was an option to give it 0 stars, I would. The waiter was extremely rude. When I got there, nobody was paying any attention to seat me. A bartender yelled across the restaurant to ask "What would you like?". Obviously, I wanted to be seated. There are about 8 tables in this closet dressed as a restaurant, and all of the tables are squeezed together so you can barely get between the tables to sit on the side with the booth. Unsurprisingly, the place was pretty much empty, yet I still had to wait for the waiter to clean off one of there tables in order for me to sit down. It took a while for him to get me a menu. Also, they serve what looks to be pink water. Gross! I didn't touch the drink, and I assumed it was possibly tea or something. I overlooked it. I ordered, and eventually my food came. I wasn't able to eat right away because I had to answer some urgent text messages. The waiter came to my table with a semi-attitude and said "Is everything alright?". I said "Yes, I'm just distracted right now." Indicating that I was on my phone. 10 minutes later he really had an attitude and says "Will you be expecting to box this up soon?" What a jerk! I said "Yes, and you can bring me the check." This restaurant NEVER has many customers. There was one other table being taken at this point, so what was the big deal? This is A TERRIBLE restaurant. There are far too many wonderful restaurants in DC, so don't settle for this one.

Yelp
picture this: a hot girl euro summer but you're just sitting here! - I know it's "pinsa" not pizza....but what to the ever, this is the best pizza I've had. the freshest ingredients I've ever had on something this filling - the waitress told me the ingredients for "la Gailla" were especially fresh today so I was estatic. this bread was an unheard of combination of crispy on the outside crust, still chewy bready under the toppings, yet somehow did not leave me feeling bloated or disgusting one bit. apparently it's because the base isn't just gluten but also other ingredients - the cheese was perfectly cool to match the warm meat and crust, melted in my mouth. the lightest and savory flavor to balance the salty but not overly salty meat that was shredded into paper thin pieces - my dining companion wanted a red pie so picked the "La Milanese" after a heavy debate between the 20 different options (which all looked so good)! the best salame (a genius replacement to the classic greasy salty pepperoni) with the most obviously freshly made pomoderu sauce that still allowed for the other toppings to shine through the tomato taste - our waitress was incredibly sweet and caring. they only book reservations at 5:30 or 7:30 and the small place was very busy. the kitchen was swamped so the waitress, in the best possible way of handling the situation, brought us complimentary handmade potato chips. i think if they can come up with a more efficient kitchen/staffing method this place is golden!

Yelp
I recently went here for a weeknight dinner with two friends and had an OK experience. While we were seated immediately, our service was subpar for the rest of the meal. Despite the restaurant not being crowded, our server took close to 10 minutes to come take our order. All our food took a while to come, which is especially shocking for a pizza restaurant where even custom-made pizzas can be made quickly. It also took a while to get our server to pay our check. The food was good, although somewhat pricey and you need a whole pizza per person to feel full. My friends and I split the artichokes for an appetizer and shared the Cacio e Pepe, the White House, and a pizza topped with beef slices and arugula. The artichokes were outstanding-well-fried and flavored. However, I wish we had gotten more artichokes with our order. All the pizzas had fantastic crusts. The Cacio e Pepe was my favorite, with a delicious blend of cheese in proportion with the crust. The White House is more like a calzone, stuffed with cheese. While the blend was good, the cheese was extremely salty. The pizza topped with beef was fine, but needed more meat, more flavor, and less arugula. I would order La Casina pizza again, but only as a snack for delivery.

Yelp
Like many of the people at the restaurant tonight we read about this in the Washington Post today. Tucked away in the eastern market. I have passed this restaurant many times, it is unassuming and delicious. We made 730 reservations, arrived at smidge early and glad we did. When we arrived, there was nobody in the restaurant as I think we are between seedings. They promptly seated us, but service was a bit slow tonight. We did not feel hurried, enjoy the bottle of wine, and two of their specialty flatbread. Loved it!

Yelp
We felt like we were back in Italy. We dined here for two dinners during our week long stay in DC. - once on the patio on a warm evening, and the second time inside. Both evenings were completely enjoyable, with warm and timely service. The pizza is to die for. Be sure to make a reservation...they are busy, and aim for two seatings for dinner.

Yelp
Three years after my initial review, I returned to La Casina for lunch with my wife and seven-year-old daughter. Speaking to the owner (a husband-wife team from Rome), I more fully understand their story and concept. I left impressed. First of all, La Casina is one of two pinsa-certified restaurants in the U.S.A. (The other is in San Francisco.) They make their pizza using the traditional Roman style where the dough is crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside al baked inside a wood-fired oven. They also source all of their ingredients directly from Italy, including their produce. The result is tasty, authentic food from Rome. To start, we had the artichoke, which was perfectly fried. The margarita pizza was a favorite of our daughter's, who said the cheese was her "new favorite." For the main course, we had their salami pizza with hot honey, cheese, red onions, and a few other ingredients. We also had their prosciutto white pizza. Everything was full of flavor and the dough is truly amazing. So tasty, light, but crispy. We're fans! To end the lunch, we had a small espresso, which came with brown sugar cubes that made the espresso pop. We'll be back! (They invited us to return and comped our meal, but did not ask us to update this review. I did that on my own.)

Yelp
Thrilled to find pinsa in the US. May I say "delish," or maybe "mamma Mia..." the suppli were a big treat (if you don't know what those are and you can eat fried food, just order them and find out), and the pinsa was fantastic. I will be dreaming of the thinly sliced potato and drizzled truffle oil joined with fragrant rosemary and flavorful grated cheese, oil soaking into the crispy-yet-chewy, dreamy crust that only pinsa offers... mm. Well done!

Yelp
We had another excellent meal here tonight. We've repeatedly enjoyed the Milanese pizza very much. But tonight we wanted to try something different. We ended up with what I'll call the primo Margherita, which comes with a DOP addition of special ingredients + we added prosciutto. It was delicious!

Yelp
Marvelous meal with great service. Dined with a group of six, all drinks and orders correct, delivered swiftly. My cacio e pepe was wonderful. I'd eat here again!

Yelp
Delicious and authentic. I've lived in Italy for 1.5 years and this place has my full endorsement. Their pizza oven is actually wood-burning and the menu looks a lot like what you'll find in Rome. You can't go wrong with anything you choose!

Yelp
Excellent! Just amazing pizza...light, airy and delicious! A cute place on Capitol Hill right near the Trader Joe's and super close to Eastern Market and the Metro. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the options we didn't try today. We started with a bottle of Abruzzo wine; one of only 15,000 bottles. A crisp white that went well with everything we ate. Then ordered the chips, which I initially thought was going to be French fries, but nope...potato chips. Still they were awesome. I want more. Then we each got a pinsa. We chose the chef's special for the day and a White House. The White House was heavier and a little more like a calzone IMO. Everything was eaten though. We even ordered truffles for dessert. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating and delivered great service. Just five stars all the way around!! A must try.

Yelp
Variety of pizza. The dough was airy and light and magherita topping was awesome. The service was good but not great. The server forgot our wine after reminded her couple of times. The ambiance is very welcoming, and love the design.

Yelp
La Casina is a great place to get delicious pinsa, which is Roman-style pizza. It's in a great location and I'm often in that area, which is why, despite having a horrible first experience, I decided to give it another try and I'm glad I did. Do note that is tiny inside and the tables are close together. The outside is cute but also small, though I would definitely dine outside here. My first visit was on an extremely busy night. It took about five minutes to be greeted, which should have been a red flag. Before I was seated, I advised the server of my time limit and asked if it would be possible to meet. She said it would be. It was not. An hour later, I walked out after having only a drink and an appetizer, having never received my pinsa. It was disappointing, to say the least. So my advice is that if you see they are busy, go somewhere else, unless you can wait. They also do a brisk to-go business. However, if they are not busy, definitely stay. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and service is friendly. Their spritz is great. I love the nuvolette appetizer, which is addictive. And their pinsa is the best I've tried. It's fluffy yet has texture and is absolutely delicious. I'm looking forward to trying their Nutella nuvolette for dessert one day.

Yelp
I think this might be one of my new favorite places! The food was so good and not heavy for it being pizza, and so fresh! It's truly an authentic place, takes me back to when I had suppli in Rome! Our server was so nice, she was so kind and considerate, and we met the owner and she was so amazing too. Couldn't be happier, will definitely be back!

Francesca M.

Yelp
This is hands down the best restaurant in DC for Pinsa with only authentic ingredients. Angela and Fabrizio are the sweetest and kindest workers and will make you feel like you're in Italy. I would not recommend any other place.

Yelp
Stopped in after a nice stroll in Capitol hill. They were able to seat us right away at the bar. The wood fired pizza oven was right in front of us and you could see all of the pizzas being made right in front of you. They ran out of their special of the day but I was content browsing their extensive menu. Everything sounded good but I went with the La Gallia. The crust was nice and charred, salty from the prosciutto cutto, and the little rivers of olive oil really complemented the stracciatella cheese. Sprinkles of fresh thyme twigs on top was refreshing. It did take awhile for our pizzas to be made, but no harm no foul for a good tasty pizza. Would suggest getting some appetizers as you wait!

Whitney M.

Yelp
The pinsa crust is crispy and delicious. We loved the flavors of L'amatrice, which our server recommended from the Romana pinsa list for our first visit. We had to try La Gallia based on the photos, and it's as good as it looks. To make sure you're not surprised, the prosciutto and stracciatella cheese is cold on top of the hot pinsa dough. All the ingredients are from Italy, except the fresh vegetables. Salute!

Yelp
Great spot for pizza! Really cute space with both indoor and outdoor option. Small space so it might be in your best interest to make reservations. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful in accommodating us. I highly recommend the la porchetta. I would definitely come back to dine here again!
google avatar

Pranusha P.

Yelp
I tried this place with a large group of 8 and they were able to accommodate us day of, which was really kind of the business owners to do last minute. The vibe was cozy, with limited seating around the large pizza oven. Definitely a cute date spot. The menu primarily consisted of "pinsas" which I had never had before. I thought these would be similar to wood fired pizzas, but they're a bit more like warm open face sandwiches or flatbreads. Not all of the pinsas have tomato sauce, and majority did not much have sauce. We tried 5 total pinsas and liked 1-2 of them. If you're looking for a pinsa most closely resembling pizza, I recommend the pepperoni. It was lacking in the amount of sauce, but the meat was really delicious. If you're a fan of charcuterie type meat on bread and ok forgoing sauce - la Gallia featured fresh cheese and lots of ham. I personally wasn't a fan of cold meat on a warm flatbread, as I prefer warm meat on pizza. This resembled a sub in taste. The Nutella pinsa that we had for dessert was definitely the highlight. It was a perfect ratio of Nutella to flatbread and very easy to share. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for something sweet.

Yelp
Overall, a bit of a mixed bag for lunch La Casina. The Service: The staff meant well but seem to be untrained and struggling. A question about beers on tap was met with "I can't drink". Puzzling. I was confused why my L'Amatrice pizza tasted exactly like my friend's Carbonara--upon checking the receipt, we got 2 of the latter. This mix-up was after repeating the order 3 times. The Food: The pizzas are pretty good. My partner's Margherita pizza was outstanding with a flaky crust. My mistakenly ordered Carbonara was tasty but overly salty. The Suppli (a Roman cousin to the more common Arancini) were dry and didn't have the characteristic stretchy mozarella. See the Rant. The Rant: OK, I get authenticity, but when we asked for a side of marinara to go with borderline inedible Suppli, the server came back and told us the "owner says 'no'". This was followed up by a lecture from the owner on how marinara isn't Roman, with us apologizing for asking for a non-authentic modification. A side of tomato sauce was eventually grudgingly delivered as we were debating going elsewhere for lunch. The staff look slightly scared of the owners, as we witnessed several tense interactions. In summary, I might come back for pizza (hard pass on the Suppli), but the service didn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy.

Nate G.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant yesterday, and it was WONDERFUL! What a great addition to D.C. The Roman "Pinsa" was such a huge improvement over regular pizza. We enjoyed the Ottavo Colle, and margarita. Be in the know: Pinsa is traditionally eaten with a knife and fork. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
stopped in to try la casina recently and had a decent meal. Food was good with room for improvement. Service and timing were pretty poor and the reason it will be a long while before I return. For food - we started with the burrata and prosciutto. Good quality on both, and included some sundried tomatoes, basil and grilled bread. Could've used some olive oil. For pizzas, we went with carbonara and the milanese. Carbonara was garlicky and tasty, but between the cheese and pork it was salty. The milanese had a good amount of pepperoni and salami and cheese and was pretty good, the meats were sliced very thin and cooked unevenly/some burned. Biggest issue with this pizza was the sauce, which was watery and therefore lacking flavor. The pizza dough is nice and light (Roman pinsa style), has some chew with a nice crunch - this is their star. While the food was decent, the service and timing were poor. The restaurant was understaffed - which on a Saturday night isn't ideal. When we entered, we were told we could choose a seat on the patio and someone would come out to help us. We were one of two tables (the other was wrapping up their meal), with 8 or so tables so it was not at capacity out there. Servers came to clear the other table/provide their check/refill their drinks etc., but they just ignored us sitting there. Eventually the other table felt bad for us and asked the servers to help us out which was nice, but we had been sitting for 20 minutes. Finally got our orders in, it took 20 minutes for the appetizer, and another 30 minutes after the app for our pizzas (another table ordered after us and got their pizzas before us). Service was slow, water cups went empty for long periods of time, and given no heaters or anything on the patio by the end we were cold and very ready to go.

Herbert L.

Yelp
Love their pizza! Real ingredients! Delicious! I tried the " La milanese " and the " Margherita " I ate both and wanted more hehe The Sauce is real Tomatoes! I don't think I ever want to buy Pizza from Papa Johns or Pizza Hut after eating here.

Henry L.

Yelp
I got a porchetta sandwich from here and OH MY WHERE HAS THIS BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE. It's hard to call this place underrated when it has a rave Post review, but I'm doing it anyway -- this place is awesome and underrated. Oh let's just throw some pizza dough into our custom oven and lay some thinly sliced roasted pork on there with delicious aged cheese and truffle oil, NBD. My only nit is that whole rosemary sprigs in a sandwich is weird and they should do some chopped leaves instead. Not deducting any stars because that sandwich was flipping delicious.

Yelp
The best Italian "pinza" in DC!! Angela and the husband are bringing straight from Rome authentic products and recipes. This is a MUST stop by place! The best!

Makayla D.

Yelp
Great authentic Italian food with even better dessert. It's a small Italian kitchen with a decent menu selection, reasonable prices, and makes you feel at home. The service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Still working on getting rid of the credit card charge from La Casina for food that was ordered on Yelp but never fulfilled because the restaurant was closed and on vacation when I arrived to pick up the order last week. The owner had texted me with hardly an apology- instead saying that the staff deserved a vacation! No offer of eliminating the charge nor any offer of a future free pizza, which most other places would have done without a moment's hesitation. Some customer service!! we will be happy to order pizzas from the many other wonderful places around Capitol Hill!
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
Couldn't have had a better experience. We got a few of their specialty (la speciali) Pinsa pizzas to go (had an Airbnb around the corner.) We got a Margherita D.O.P. with prosciutto added, and another called a Montesacro (potato, lamb sausage, artichoke, rosemary, motz, & chili olive oil.) Both were superb. I waited at the bar to pick them up and the owners (both were making pies/working the oven) and the waitstaff were super nice, helpful in picking some Italian sodas to go with, etc. Ambiance was great and the pinsa w/Nutella was a perfect to end with! If you're in Capitol Hill and want something slightly different and authentically Roman this is very very worth a stop. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Yelp
TL;DR, La Casina has the most authentic, traditional Italian style pizza we've found in DC. Angela and Fabrizio know their stuff. The pizza is amazing every single time. And you should ask for their La Nicolette "beignets" made with pizza dough. So tasty and it pairs great with a glass of wine. I've been wanting to update my review for a while (it's past due). As for service, we've had delightful hostess and waiter experiences. Quick to seat, friendly and helpful. Today was packed, every table full, but we got a seat at the bar right away, a glass of wine, and we got to watch fresh pizza being made. We ordered our favorite - La Milanese (with fried artichokes for an appetizer). Sitting at the bar was a good move, as Angela recommended we try something new: pizza L'Amatrice, equally delicious so I'm glad she talked us into stepping out of our comfort zone. My biggest challenge is trying to branch out - I love the La Milanese pizza so much it's hard to try anything else! We're lucky to have casa Casina nearby. If you love authentic Italian pizza, you have to come. (Footnote: our only, long past, bad service experience was right at the height of Covid when staffing was probably a nightmare - glad to report it's a thing of the past and service has been great ever since!)

Yelp
I'm in a wheelchair and the staff was absolutely fantastic in accommodating me considering how tiny their space is overall. The staff member helping me (the manager?) was gracious and kind as she moved several pieces of furniture out of the way to accommodate me. The food was outstanding. I had a white pizza with pork belly. They didn't have what I was planning to order, so she took the time to make recommendations when I told her I couldn't have tomatoes. I know, heresy in an Italian restaurant but she didn't even blink when I said no tomatoes and went on to offer options. Overall A+ service, A+ food. Highly recommend!

Katie G.

Yelp
The best food I've ever had!!! The pizza was so good there aren't words to describe how great it is!! I would definitely recommend this place and I would give it a 100/10!!!! Plus all of that the service was great and everyone was very friendly!!

C B.

Yelp
Didn't have a good experience and won't be going back. Was looking forward to trying La Casina and tried a few times to get a reservation. Finally secured one at 7:30 on a Friday evening. We were sat on time but it took a little bit for them to take our order. We ordered two pizzas and it took more than an hour to get them. We were only asked about a drink refill once over the hour. All the tables around us were also waiting on food for about an hour. I got the La Milanese pizza and my date got La Cacio e Pepe. The Milanese was very peppery and too much so for my liking. My date liked her pizza fine enough. The waitresses did their best but they were so flustered looking running around and that took away from the experience as well. Overall, there is good pizza to be had in other places nearby that I won't be going back or recommending this place.

Yelp
In a neighborhood where we have many pizza options, I appreciate the uniqueness of La Casina! This Pinseria Romana shop has many options to choose from. I've tried mainly the vegetarian options and I've enjoyed them. Although they make good pizza I've removed a few stars because I've found them to be very inflexible when it comes to special requests. If you're looking to add toppings, it's been my experience that they won't accommodate that request. I also think the prices are extremely expensive for what you're getting.

Yelp
Everything was great, there is not much to say, it was perfect, best Italian dishes in DC. And very cute cafe design. Service was great also.

Yelp
locale autentico in tutto e per tutto antipasti molto buoni pinse di vario gusto tutti con ingredienti freschi e davvero molto buoni pranzo concluso con un ottimo tiramisù fatto in casa e un fantastico caffè Torneremo sicuramente

Yelp
I love La Casina. The Pinsas are all amazing, it is one of the places in the area where you can have genuine Italian food. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great flatbread special. Healthy and delicious with high quality ingredients. Beautiful little place near Eastern market with cozy, neighborhood atmosphere.

Yelp
This place is continually the best pizza in DC hands down. I've come to learn the from our server chris the flour is a combo of soy / wheat / rice flour, hence a much more digestible combination for those of us with sensitivities ! . They have Buffalo milk mozzarella which is GLORIOUS tasting- low casein cheese. Amazing flavors which are literally addictive- the pies are so light if you're hungry- it's easy to finish it on your own !! Don't ask for substitutions / additions / etc... (literally it will be a no one a busy night)- but trust in the product and be astounded !

Yelp
Black and white tile floor, interesting coffee shop decor. Atmosphere was quiet and classy. Service was nice and prices were reasonable. We ordered 5*La Porchetta--Porchetta Romana, (seasoned pork belly), truffle-infused extra virgin olive oil, pecorino romano and black pepper: 8 inch flat pizza. The bread was special, not just ordinary flour, but a combination of wheat and rice which gave it a special texture. Freshly baked, all ingredients - pork belly, cheese, and bread balanced out into a harmonious taste. It was special and delicious. One of the best pizza I've had; it reminded me of the authentic Italian food in Rome. 3*Sbriciolata--Caffe/Pistacchio/Fragola Cioccolato/Strawberry A traditional Italian dessert made Crisp puff pastry w/Italian Chantilly with a sweet creamy mascarpone cream & dark chocolate or fragole: it was pre made and served in a small plastic cup. The presentation was so bad that it spoiled the enjoyment of the dessert. I couldn't believe a nice restaurant like this would make such a faux pas.

Yelp
Got the Cacio E Pepe and it was great! Crust was perfect and light and ingredients seemed to be of high quality.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for the best Italian pizza I've ever tasted. I will definitely return for more.

Yelp
La Casina is an outstanding restaurant. From the moment we walked in we were treated warmly. The hostess was also the waitress and provided excellent service. It was our first-time dining at La Casina and she enthusiastically guided us through the menu and made some great recommendations. We started with the Olive Ripiene which was fried perfectly and greaseless. We ordered two pizzas to share, which was perfect for two. We selected the special, which was artichokes and sausage with red sauce. It was outstanding! The crust was perfect, crispy outside and soft inside, it had great a chew. The sausage was top quality and the artichokes were flavorful. We also tried the Cacio Pepe. It, too, was outstanding. They captured the classic flavors perfectly. Our waitress shared with us all the ingredients, except the water, was imported from Italy. It is obvious La Casina takes great pride in their cuisine. We cannot wait to return. There is so much more we want to try.

Yelp
It was fine, but there is much better pizza in the area (All Purpose, Martha Dear, Grazzi Nonna - and if you're up for a little more travel, Stracii in Alexandria). They are not accommodating at all. Another poster noted they refused to provide marina sauce for the risotto balls. I asked for crushed red pepper and was denied because it would throw off the "balance" of the pizza. So the pizza was bland for me. Apparently everyone has to agree with the chef's taste. Staff seemed inexperienced, and wait time for even a drink was long. As for the food - the apps (fried artichokes and cacio pepe arancinini) were solid. The pizza was very mediocre, and I didn't find anything special about the dough or sauce. We ordered two pizzas - one was an eggplant parm and it came out with cold eggplant and cheese. We were told that was intentional. The chef was accommodating when we said we didn't want a cold pizza and it should be advertised as such and offered to replace it. They also don't slice the pizzas for you and cutting it was actually a pain. They seem well-intentioned, but it missed the mark.

Yelp
Not sure what's so special about this SOGGY crust pizza... The dough is not superior. This is an overpriced PIE.

Yelp
Amazing food. Poetry in a Pinsa. Attention to detail, caring staff, great ambiance. Had a lovely dinner here with family on a night out in DC. The Ottavo Colle blew us away- razor thin potato, cured pork goodness, truffle oil, rosemary, pink salt and more goodness that stopped us in our tracks. Small spot they are making the most of. They should be proud of what they are doing. Bravo!

Yelp
This is a small restaurant serving authentic Italian Pizza. It's a small restaurant, but there was no wait on a Friday at lunch. The burrata was fresh and came on a pool of herbed olive oil. The pizzas are made from their wood fire oven, and it a creates a nice char on the pizza. The dough very good, as it's crispy and light. I got the L'Amatrice, and the ingredients seemed fresh. The tomato sauce was tangy and sweet, and the saltiness from the guanciale gave a nice balance to the flavors. Overall a simple pizza with good ingredients.

Yelp
Feeling lucky that I was able to walk by early enough to order from their Sunday menu and sit and bask in such an enjoyable space. The music, the staff and the food had me take a much needed pause and relish my time here. 12/10 will be coming back to try everything else on the menu! Also, because anything with dough is ordered excessively here, expect them to run out by 4-4:30 pm Sunday. Just because everything is so fresh here

Yelp
First of all, anyone leaving g less than four stars has no idea what they are talking about. This restaurant is a gem and should not be missed. The food was fantastic and the service was slow if you prefer to be rushed and pushed out the door. We had a party of four and I asked the waitress to bring their 6 most popular pizzas to share and they knocked it out of the park. Do not miss this place. Reasonable prices, great food and friendly staff. Go.Here.A.Lot
