Best New Cocktail Bars in Charleston Right Now | Eater Carolinas

"French restaurant Félix now has an adjoining bar named La Cave, which is a tribute to the south of France. The drink menu lists ten craft cocktails, including a martini with a fromage fat-washed vodka and caviar crisp garnish. There’s also a section of hard-to-find whiskies. Food selections range from oysters and caviar to a petite bouillabaisse and a duck confit gnocchi. Customers can also order a smaller version of the popular raclette burger from Félix." - Erin Perkins

La Cave Is Now Open on King Street in Charleston | Eater Carolinas

"A provincial-themed cocktail lounge inspired by the owner’s travels in Southern France, this intimate spot is designed as a laid-back place to sip approachable French wines, craft cocktails, and snack on small plates. Guests enter through a stone-cellar–style hallway from the adjacent Félix, arriving in a cozy room planted with olive trees and lavender and furnished with blond wood floors, a marble-top bar, tufted couches, glittering chandeliers, café tables, antique mirrors, and family paintings. The drink list features ten craft cocktails — highlighted by a martini with fromage fat‑washed vodka and a caviar crisp garnish — plus a selection of hard-to-find whiskies. Food offerings range from oysters and caviar to a petite bouillabaisse and duck confit gnocchi, and patrons can order a smaller version of the raclette burger from the neighboring restaurant. It opened on October 17 and operates Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight." - Erin Perkins

Incredible spot on upper king street (close to all the action but skip the lines and crowds you’ll find just a few blocks away). The interior design is both classy & cozy, a great place for delicious & innovative cocktails and bites. Perfect for a date night or night out with friends!

Sooo I arrived with a party of four to enjoy a wonderful glass of wine. But they didn't have anything to serve me that I like to drink, and sure enough the beverage manager over both bars came in and saved the day. She is amazing! Her name is Haley! She hooked us up with beverages we loved. She is the bar manager imagine that! Amazing! Thank you Haley .

To start off, the place has a perfect atmosphere for any special event or just a simple night out. The fries were crispy and golden, the perfect accompaniment. For the main course, I had the Crispy Duck Confit, and it was heavenly. The duck was cooked to perfection, with crispy skin and melt-in-your-mouth meat. The sauce was rich and delicious, tying the dish together. the servers were warm and welcoming, creating a truly personalized dining experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and it was clear that the staff genuinely cares about the experience of every guest. Whether you're a local or just visiting Charleston, this place is an absolute must-try!

Me and my partner had a great experience at La Cave. It was my partners birthday, and the service was amazing. Our server, Tito, was so nice, funny, and hospitable - he gave us some amazing recommendations. The manager, Aria, was so professional and made sure we were well taken care of. My partner felt so special and celebrated on his birthday!! I was blown away by the food, drinks, and the service. Everyone was so helpful. The vibes were so fun and I cannot wait to go back! Definitely a great spot - must get the duck gnocchi!!

Such a great spot! Came here around the holidays - loved the ambience and had really lovely service. Our group ordered a variety of small plates and drinks and everything was great. Food standouts included the Duck Confit Gnocchi and the Filer Mignon Tartine. I got the Le Mistral cocktail, which was delicious and had great presentation.

Beautiful cozy build out and ambiance. Servers were on top of their game as well. The burger was very much like you’d get in France albeit a bit salty.

Yelp
We absolutely loved all the cocktails and bites while here. The decor is classic and so much natural light in this place that you feel a lightness while dinning. We had a reservation for 5PM and the place quickly filled up so I do recommend a reservation. The Happy Hour bites were wonderful as well. I do not remember the name of everything, but we very much do enjoyed ourselves. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Ok. We only had drinks but this place is great. Place is fancy way beyond pricing. If you come downtown you owe it to yourself to stop in. Looks like mixers are all made in house. The bartenders are true mixologist. Not just pour and sell. They don't have a cocktail that sounded good to me but he was able to make me a Vesper no problem no question. And it was PERFECT. Wife claims any cocktail that comes with caviar is good! They hades out little bites of food during happy hour. No charge. And good! Place itself is really cool. Can't wait to come back. Thank you folks

Yelp
Oh La Cave! How I adore you. Felix's sister restaurant, La Cave, opened with flair creating a cozy, small bite cocktail restaurant. These are seats you sink in and lose time to. I came here with two of my friends and had a marvelous night. We ordered a variety of small plates - the French fries, oysters, mini-cheeseburger, and the filet mignon tartine. Everything was fantastic. They were the tastiest little bites that ended up filling us very well. Their French fries are oddly addicting but that filet mignon tartine? Perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful and so easy to eat! Tito, our server, was amazing (as always). Tito provided top-notch service, and made our whole experience very personable and welcoming. Tito is a fantastic bartender and epic server. La Cave adds a bit of something different on King Street - small plates, delicious cocktails, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Loves it!

Yelp
Have a cute drink, get food elsewhere, check your bill. Likely to go elsewhere due to additional charges that you're not notified of. Beautiful interior, delicious overpriced drinks. The saddest display of $8 fries I've ever seen. Aioli was delicious, however, it was as if they replated a large McDonald's fry that had been sitting in the warmer for a day. The portions on the $35 charcuterie board did not make sense. 4 small pieces of grilled bread for at least 4-6 pieces of 4 types of cheese, meat, honey, olive spread, mustard. Paired with undesirable canned fish and grapes. The grapes and selection of cheese and meat were good. Unless you're mixing cheeses and meat on bread for every bite, you'll end up eating everything with fork. Easily ~50+/person plus a 4% credit card charge. Majority of cost is drinks. The Cave did sales tax based off total after credit card charge. Meaning 14% sales tax + 3% credit card charge before tip. Note the sales tax increased to 14.5% + 3% credit card charge after charged. #fraudulentmath $161 meal pretax, is now $220 after tip. Without notice, the server charged an addition ~$2 in sales tax after running the credit card in addition to the 3% credit card charge. Math is not mathing. See attached receipts. Server was very kind and nice. Long time to clear drinks and plates from table. Searching for server for drinks rather than casual check-in's Have a cute drink, get food elsewhere, check your bill. Yelp
WOW !!! This place is amazing. Every bite was an experience. I didn't even come hungry and ended up ordering four dishes not good for my calories but worth every one. Try their file mignon sliders and their chocolate cake for sure !!! It's tapas style so get a bunch of the plates to try.

Yelp
Loved it!! Had high expectations from Felix and was not disappointed. It's very pretty inside and has a variety of seating options from bar seating, small tables, couches and a large table off to the side. Perfect for just cocktails or for food as well - we tried the Duck Confit Gnocchi, Oysters and the Filet Mignon Tartine. I'm normally not a huge duck fan but the Gnocchi was a knockout, very flavorful. The mignonette on the Oysters was delicious. The Tartine was not nearly as flavorful as the other two dishes, it was good quality but slightly plain. We also had La Cave Martinis - the sugar rim rounded out the grapefruit very nicely! Overall would recommend and will be returning.

Yelp
Upper king cocktail bar with small plates and a well constructed cocktail menu. The good- food and drinks. The cave martini with foamy egg whites was not too sweet and super punchy. I could drink 5 of these. The food came out hot, well plated and was very fresh- we had the warm Camembert, the tapenade and the Poisson Provençal. All delicious. The not so great....its a cocktail bar on King, so around 7ish, it fills up as they allow people to stand around the bar. Large groups, clearly over-served elsewhere, stood directly next to our table yelling, swaying and pushing each other around like we were at ACs. The service was okay- plates were cleared quickly, no new utensils between courses, waters refilled regularly, then a somewhat curt request to leave at the two hour mark due to an incoming reservation. Take this as you will- it's a cocktail bar that lets anyone in to stand wherever they please, not an intimate date night spot in the south of France where you can have a conversation without screaming.

Yelp
Great little cocktail bar with refreshing drinks! This spot is a an extension to Felix!

Yelp
The most beautiful cocktail bar with the very best staff in Charleston! La Cave's cocktail program is exciting and creative. Delicious small bits as well.

Paul G.

Yelp
We have enjoyed Felix many times so have been very eager to try La Cave. Last night, we put our name on the waitlist as there's no way to reserve, and told it was a 30-minute wait (it was packed). We left and came back an hour later to find our table was given to someone else who wanted to move, and another empty table was being held for the owners and friends. The hostess became more and more aggressive with us, and when our friend asked her name, she said 'this is becoming a hostile encounter, and if you don't leave I will have security kick you out'. My friend is the most polite, laid-back person I know and was being completely courteous. The hostess said 'you people have been hostile since you first came in'. We quickly left before she totally lost the plot. It's a real shame that we will never go back because they managed to hire an unhinged psychopath as a hostess. I would be scared to run into her again.

Yelp
Great vibe at La Cave, have had food and drinks there multiple times since opening. We love it!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible!! The drinks are incredibly crafted and very unique, service was exceptional and the food exceeded all expectations. Such a cozy, sophisticated vibe with incredible ambiance and exceptionally knowledgable and friendly staff. Charleston needed a new, fresh dining experience and this is the craze of the town. Highly recommend!!!!
