La Chalá - Review - Casco Antiguo - Seville - The Infatuation

"La Chalá’s motto is “Crazy Chicken, Happy Kitchen.” And joyful and relaxed is exactly how this next-level tapas experience feels. The menu spotlights less-commonly-used-in-Spain spices like cumin and turmeric, and unexpected flavor combinations. Every plate has an unexpected twist, like the star serranito roll filled with roast pork, ham, peppers, and cheese. Instead of the usual presentation in sandwich form, they ditch the bread, wrap it in a tortilla, fry it, and add a savory sauce on top of the warm, gooey goodness. But the pastela de pollo with a sweet, nutty sauce of almonds and syrupy sugar is a close second. Inside is a bit formal, so we prefer to reserve an outdoor table on Plaza Puerta Real, especially on cool afternoons." - Aileen Weintraub

We were just looking for a quick lunch before heading to the airport. It was a Sunday and most places were closed, but then we found this amazing spot! We didn’t have a reservation, so we waited a little while to get a table outside and enjoy the sun—totally worth it, and the wait wasn’t long at all. The food completely blew us away. We honestly thought it might be just another touristy place, but it was way better than expected. The octopus meatball—OMG, so good! We also had the squid risotto, which was super fresh and light. And the tomato salad? So simple and refreshing. Highly recommend all of it!

The food was expensive and not good. 16€ for 6 fried cheese sticks!! The server made us wait while he was on the phone and did not provide good service. Besides the bad attitude, he even tried to add extra on the bill but we caught it. Always look at your bill carefully if you decide to try this place!! We left unsatisfied, yet we spent 35€ for 2 glasses of mediocre wine ( aren’t we in Spain?) and two items on the menu. Don’t bother going to this place if you want a wonderful Sevillana meal and experience!

Great food and great service. We enjoyed all the dishes we tried here. Crackling pork belly and the rollito in particular were fantastic! Desserts were also very good.

Google
The location is good but the traffic is quite consistent and a bit noisy. The food is average and the only one that captured my attention was the black squid rice. The staff is nice and friendly. Personally I would not suggest this place nor I am going back...unless it s only for a drink. A friend told me that in the past the food here was great..this is why we had a go and went there. The plates are, in general, not elaborated nor well presented. Price- value = expensive...considering the life' cost here is very reasonable and very good & cheap compared to other European countries. This is OF COURSE my humble opinion!!😜

Google
Grwat spot for food and drinks.. Its a bit on the edge of the historic area but still in it so its not crazy busy. It is situated on a small square surrounded with the beautiful houses wnd the church. The food is amazing and thebprices are ok. We had the Serranito Rolls, Sardines and dried Tomato pintxos, Squid meatballs with whiskey and at the end, for the desert, we had a cheesecake. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
Not what it used to be Service is subpar There are flies everywhere and I mean everywhere who wants to eat this way. I definitely don't! The menu is limited and the food quality has declined tremendously. Of course I found a hair in the food which was the icing on the cake. The waiter comped the dish but didn't apologize or anything. The bar is limited now, not like before. I won't be coming back to and it's unfortunate.

Yelp
This place was great and probably my favorite dinner of our entire honeymoon across three cities in Spain! The atmosphere was very warm and quirky... in a good way! The waiters were extremely friendly too. At the outset, I was a bit worried about their vegetarian options, but the head waiter announced the specials to the entire room, and there were a few dishes that were veggie friendly. They turned out to be delicious. My favorite was an asparagus au gratin, which was maybe the most tender asparagus I have ever had in my life. There was also a really tasty cauliflower special. My husband got a tuna tartar taco special which he loved. On top of all of that, the prices were VERY reasonable, especially for such a pleasant and delicious experience. Thanks so much, La Chalá! I would highly recommend you to anybody else in the area.

Yelp
We happened upon this place after wondering around. On our way back from looking for another place. Our gps was not working when we found this place again & decided it must be meant to be. It was!!! We had duck which had a sweet plum sauce cooked perfectly medium rare & beets(the bf even ate the beets, not generally a fan) octopus came w potatoe which had pesto on top. On point. Risotto fried rice w veggies. Onion, pea pod, pepper, broccoli all had creamy crunch. Clams w beans& them bursts w hypo-dermic needle filled w pesto. Unbelievable. You should check this place out. Very different tapas .
