Compact, colorful counter-serve spot turning out tacos made with organic ingredients, plus burritos.
"La Chingada makes some of London’s best tacos—we love their original Surrey Quays restaurant, we’re fans of their Euston spot, and we imagine we’ll enjoy their latest Bermondsey location too. It’s got the same excellent tacos, so it only makes sense. We checked out La Chingada Bermondsey and added it to the Hit List." - team infatuation
"“I could go on about La Chingada’s crispy el pastor or soft suadero tacos for hours. Or one of its hot salsas, a deep brown habanero number. Same with their fried chicken. A juicy golden pile that’s waiting to be smothered in the tingly, vinegar-ish red of chile de arbol and butter sauce. But it’s not just the food. It’s the day-glo chicken shop aesthetic. It’s the standing, the leaning, and the eating. It’s the night I spent ordering, eating, drinking, ordering, smoking, digesting, ordering, and eating some more. A meal on the pavement may not be everybody’s thing, but it is mine. And it should be yours too.” - JM" - oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Not to do SE8 dirty, but there’s something a little Pleasantville about La Chingada’s spot in Surrey Quays. The Mexican taqueria is a grenade of colour and vibrancy on an otherwise nondescript road. The tacos it makes act in much the same way. The al pastor, chunks of glistening marinated pork with onion and punches of green and red salsa, plus a sweet sliver of pineapple, is good. But it’s the suadero taco (confit beef brisket with onion, coriander, and a dash of deep brown habanero salsa) and the chorizo taco—a vehicle for vivid red sausage—that are your essential orders." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"La Chingada, a Mexican restaurant in Surrey Quays, turns this otherwise grey stretch of road into a glorious technicolour festival of salsa and margaritas. Pile in, napkins at the ready, and squeeze past other groups balancing tacos and tostadas in one hand and beers in the other. The kaleidoscopic chicken shop-style interior lends itself to a lively, post-fezzie, mash-up. Just be warned: when those frozen margs flow, you’re never too far away from another big night." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna
"We could go on for hours about La Chingada’s crispy al pastor or soft suadero tacos. Or their deep brown habanero salsa. But it’s not just the food. This colourful Surrey Quays spot is just really good fun. Groups of friends crowd around tables taking down rounds of juicy al pastor tacos like shots, after doing the same with something more tequila-based. The frozen margs flow, and you’re never too far away from one last order of tacos, or a gooey quesadilla for the road. Their Euston spot is similarly great for a fun meal." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
