2021 Atlanta Eater Award Winners for Best New Restaurant, Best Pop-Up, and Best Menu, and Best Vegan Restaurant | Eater Atlanta

"Started in 2020 as a relief pop-up for essential workers and later expanded into a roving restaurant, this Peruvian project is the personal culinary storytelling of chef Arnaldo Castillo, who left a Ponce City Market post to pursue it full-time. Traveling to pop up around Atlanta, the menus showcase deeply personal and classic Peruvian dishes — ceviche clásico, jamón del país sandwiches, choros a la chorrillana (mussel escabeche on sourdough toast), and causa limeña — with plans to eventually become a permanent homage to Lima and northern Peru." - Beth McKibben

Erika (chef) was so kind. No hablo espanola- However, she came to our table to help us with the menu and explaining her creations in english. Her staff are fantastic as well. Now the food. The presentation 👌 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. The flavor 😋 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. The terrace muy perfecto. We will be back. Sooo yummy 😋. If you read this and decide not to visit this hidden gym you are missing out on some of the yummiest dishes.

Me, my brother and my mother ate here today and my goodness….Best tiradito I’ve had in Peru thus far with great portions. The waitress was friendly and attentive, the space was quaint with great vibes and the owner is an absolute delight. They are opening up a rooftop space soon for more seating and with how good this place is they will definitely need it. It’s a hidden treasure and as much as I want to gatekeep I don’t think it will be hidden for long. Not one complaint, can’t wait to come back.

I had an amazing experience at La Chingana! The food was absolutely delicious – full of authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and exceeded expectations. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, making the whole meal even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with a perfect balance between cozy and lively – it’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home while still enjoying something special. I would highly recommend La Chingana to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Can’t wait to come back!

A hidden neighborhood gem in Barranco. Nestled on Av. Pierola, which is full of good restaurants, you can easily pass by Chingana's front door and never know it's there. But you'd missing out on a great meal! I usually don't write a review until I've visited a place three times. Just so I know I didn't experience a one-off. After three visits, I can confirm Chingana is legit. Fresh ingredients, balanced flavor, portions sized to try multiple items, priced fairly, friendly vibes. All around excellent. If you Google Translate 'Chingana' - you get a very naughty word. Lol. But the slang is for a dive bar. And while the vibe, and space, and service are relaxed and laidback, and fit the Chingana name, the kitchen is anything but a dive. You can see it in the fine dice of the onions and the garnishes, and the clean presentation, and the refined recipes. In contrast to the "home cooking" and home cooks prevalent on this street (and there's nothing wrong with that), the chef and her sous are serious and professionally trained. Just excellent meals. Props. Anyone would be lucky to have a dive bar like Chingana in their neighborhood. Highly recommended. (The only critique is their limited hours. They open around 1pm and close by 4-5pm. So get there early!)

Great atmosphere with wonderful smoothies and meals. The sourdough toast is fantastic. I had the eggs and avocado with toast and loved every single bite.
