"You can see the hand-pressed corn tortillas being made right behind the counter at this festive Mexican spot on 116th St. And those very tortillas come stuffed with everything from beer-marinated steak to battered fish, while spicy salsas moritas and chipotle cremas add a nice kick. The margaritas, which come in tropical flavors like mango and tamarind, might also cause you to stick around for a while and go up for seconds on all the tacos. Food Rundown Birria Tacos These tacos, filled and then folded flat with chili-braised beef and melted cheese, come two to a basket. Definitely get the rich beef consommé so you can dip as you eat—and finish what’s left with a spoon. Camaron Tacos The shrimp in this taco has a spicy kick and comes drizzled with fresh pico de gallo and a creamy chipotle sauce. Shredded red cabbage delivers a refreshing crunch." - The Curious Uptowner

Tacos are simple but hard to do well and La Chula gets it right. This is a hole in the wall neighborhood spot that has fabulous tacos (fish y carnita), maduros, chips & guacamole/salsa, elite and maduros. Wash that down with some horchata and you have yourself a perfect lunch.

The birria taco and guac and chips (not pictured) were good. I wasn’t crazy about the steak taco. Service was great, the servers were very nice.

Good food and drinks! Service was good, despite being a bit short staffed. Really enjoyed my tamarind margarita. Don’t skip the birria quesadilla and the esquite!

AMAZING tacos. Tried out most of them and they all were well seasoned, great flavor and very juicy. Guac and chips were really good too! Highly recommend this place.

Authentic, love to see the tacos pressed in front of me. Brilliant kitchen layout. Cuisine is authentic, comfort, not cutting edge NOR is is priced differently. GREAT place for tacos or if you are more adventurous than us, cervice.

We enjoyed this casual dining spot. The mojitos were good value and had real mint and weren’t too sweet. The shrimp tacos were excellent. The service was great. The atmosphere was bubbly. Not recommended for brunch or business meetings but totally recommended for a fun evening out with friends or your significant other. We will be back!

Came back here during the pandemic. Great location near the train. Menu was a limited version of itself, but the food here is great for a meal or a quick snack to go. Cocktails are even better, Margaritas and Palomas.

Sad that’s closing. Tacos weren’t the best but the service was, I think it wasn’t that good because they were two days away from closing that location forever.
