Beautiful food experience at lunch. 6 course menu, every plate had a delicate balance. Impressive wine cellar. Gorgeous view on the vineyards. Perfect service

La Ciau del Tornavento is a true gem nestled in the Langhe hills, offering a seamless blend of refined cuisine, breathtaking views, and world-class hospitality. From the moment you arrive, the staff welcomes you with quiet elegance and genuine warmth. Each course is thoughtfully composed—anchored in Piedmontese tradition but elevated with modern precision. The wine cellar is among the most impressive in Italy, not just for its vastness, but for the curated depth of vintages and regional focus. Whether you’re tasting the signature agnolotti or savoring a delicate dessert, every bite reflects the kitchen’s attention to seasonality, quality, and harmony. This is more than a meal—it’s a memory.

I was very excited to go to this restaurant. I planned months in advance. We order the prefix fish flight. The first course was amberjack and was a very nice dish. The second course was a ricotta and herb stuffed fried fish. This dish was bland and had the same green sauce as the first dish. The third course was the most disappointing it was described as cuttlefish with gnocchi. This dish was inedible. The gnocchi was bitter and smoky, the sauce was just not good. The fourth course was better but not creative for a Michelin star restaurant. It was fish on a round bed of potatoes au gratin and the same green sauce that was on the first two dishes. Dessert was just ok. Then the wait began to get our check. We eventually had to flag someone down to get the check.

High expectations because of the very impressive wine list/cellar, which was mindblowing and very impressive to have paid a visit to the place. That being said, we made our reservation for 8 well in advance and were told to choose from a fixed menu decided upfront. Which, to be clear, I have no problems with. Yet, it is strange to find out the whole service was consisting out of tables bigger than 8, who were able to order seperately and got different plates served. This being seated to tables that are too large, which takes away any possibility to have conversations with your guests sitting accross from you. The atmosphere and dining experience would be of higher value if seated at slighter smaller tables. Food wise, were were not blown away except for the dessert which was delicious. On the service side we had the idea our sommelier and people that served our table were either not able to explain things correctly in English or either on a not so friendly way of serving the table, which didn't contribute of the experience of a great dining evening. Let's say the evening ended well after the dessert and some great bottles of wine we could choose from.

Best food and great service. You won’t be disappointed. The wine cellar is out of this world (like: what the hell?!) The view also is fantastic.

Had a great meal! We thought we would leave hungry but we ate so much and so well. Very happy! The sommelier was a bit too insisting on us having a bottle while we were happy with a couple of glasses, but otherwise great experience!

Yelp
Where does one begin when they have just experienced the best meal of their lifetime and that's not an understatement or an exaggeration. When we entered the dining establishment we were warmly greeted like we were family returning from a long journey. The Michelin rated chef greeted each person and sat at some of the tables like he was welcoming them home. Thomas had the full seafood tasting experience and I had a vegan experience. They matched us course for course. Being vegan this just doesn't happen but it did. I can't even begin to describe how it felt to be included. I was so very touched and grateful. The dining room is exquisite and the service is over the top and welcomed. I highly recommend and it is worth the drive no matter how far away. Again, I felt like I was dining among the gods or heavenly angels. It's a Michelin rated chef so yes the food is out of this world and I are pairing that were positively top-rated and I would return for immediately. I can't wait to return! Thank you for the experience and I can't wait until the next weekend of activities and adventure.

Yelp
I came here for an anniversary dinner so YMMV for a lunch. Dinner reservation was for 7:30PM and we didn't get the check until 10:45PM. Service was going well until the third course of the tasting menu. Then it was over an hour between the next dish and then we just abandoned the last course due to having an early start the next day. Their Michelin star is probably deserved for the food but the service is unfortunately a dealbreaker for the price point.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant off the beaten path. Some of the best service in Italy with a fabulous chef. Their wine list is excellent, there is something for everyone at many price points. This restaurant is attached to a hotel, I've stayed before but this trip we just made it for dinner.

Yelp
Food was not tasty. Very heavy, no salt. No one offered to help us with the wine list - which is the largest in the area. Came by with menus after we had ordered. Served me a slab of raw veal and no one came by to see if food was ok or bothered to ask why i left an uneaten hunk of meat on the plate. Or why i left an undrunk bottle of wine because it was bad. Asked us for coffee and desert twice. Seemed to have 4 different servers - none of whom talked to the other. Food gets a 1 and service a 1. Go elsewhere worh your money.

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant! Service Was excellent until the end when we wanted our check. We stayed at a nearby bed and breakfast and could walk here. It's the best restaurant I've been to in Italy, except for the picnic today along the river which was not a restaurant!

Yelp
This restaurant has a wine list of various kind of local wineries and wine producers such as Barolo, Barbaresco, etc. Main dishes match these local wines, especially, those with strong rough taste. In winter, they serve seasonal local food, white truffles, in the form of cocotte of eggs with white truffles or pasta with white truffles. The food is, in general, traditional. Each plate is decorated and presented modernly but its taste remains local and regional, so that it well matches the local wines. The view from the window or the terrace of the restaurant is wonderful with the mountainous wineries of Piemonte. I highly recommend this restaurant to the Piemonte wine lovers who does not pursue so-called modern creative cuisine. 日本からの旅行者のうち、特にピエモンテワインがお好きで、多少重めの伝統料理が好きな方には特におすすめです。
