The French sibling-run café moved its energy to a new Civita location with laminated pastries, kouign-amann, and French-leaning brunch. What Now San Diego covered the opening; it’s an elegant park-side stop with local coffee partners.

This new bakery is a nice addition to the Mission Valley area, but most importantly the flavors are on point. I ordered the crossaint cinnamon roll. Wow. It's one of the best cinnamon rolls in San Diego! This shop has a clean, modern, and chic design that is steps away from Civita Park. The customer service was great as well. The lady behind the counter warmed up my pastry and it had the perfect flakey to soft ratio. I don't drink coffee, but they offer a varitey of drinks as well as the most mouth watering pastries. If you live nearby and crave some great french pastries, this spot is a must. I can't wait to come back and grab some more delectible treats. Eat up!!!

Google
This cafe is wonderful! I had a cappuccino with extra shot of espresso and a pesto breakfast croissant added bacon and avocado! Everything was really delicious, service was fast and friendly. They have a patio, great for pups.

Ayriana and Ana Mai are by far the heart and soul of La Clochette over by Civita Park in Mission Valley. They really care about providing the absolute impeccable customer experience you could possibly imagine. From their tasty handmade pastries to their espresso bar, you could say they really are the leader in the market in terms of quality. My personal favorite is the Ube Caramel Latte, sprinkled with a lil cinnamon and brown sugar. The drinks are almost as sweet as the girls lol. Come check them out and give them a try for yourself, don’t take my word for it. #HONEYBADG3R 💯🫠

Google
10/10. A perfect way to start your morning! So many delicious pastries to choose from and a wide variety of drinks. The staff were friendly, patient and knowledgeable about the menu. The pistachio honey latte was nutty and the perfect sweetness. The cinnamon bun had rosemary and orange which at first I was second guessing my decision but they were subtle and the texture was so flaky and light. I will definitely be back to try more!

Google
La Clochette is an absolute gem! Hands down one of the best coffee spots I’ve ever been to. Their coffee is bold, smooth, and perfectly crafted every single time. Their açaí bowl is a must-try, super fresh, generously topped, and just the right balance of sweet and satisfying. And don’t even get me started on the breakfast croissant, flaky, buttery, and filled with great ingredients. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you pause and appreciate the moment. The ambiance is cozy and stylish, perfect for catching up with a friend, reading, or getting a little work done. The staff is always friendly, and the attention to detail.

Google
I stopped briefly to get a iced strawberry matcha latte (seasonal) and a croissant but then noticed they had kouign-amann so I also got that as well. Their kouign-amann is THE best!! So authentic, deliciously crispy, buttery and sweet! Expect to pay the same amount you would at any other authentic French pastry shop, no more no less. Worth the stop if you're in the civita area or craving some serious french pastries! The selection is not huge but what they have is pretty and very fresh.

Google
The food was delicious! The breakfast sandwich was very impressive. Service was good even though there is no waiter to bring your food, they just call your name. Overall a good experience.

Google
my partner & I shared the pastrami tuna sandwich, and it was SO GOOD. Savory and filling and fresh, easily one of the best sandwiches I've had. Coffee was good enough, but that sandwich went crazy hard.

Yelp
If you don't have Too Good To Go, I would really suggest downloading the app. I ended up getting a goodie bag on the app from La Clochette and I was pretty excited, for $6 I ended up getting three pastries. When I came in it wasn't busy at all but it was odd but that the team wasn't very friendly, no hellos or hi. I figured it was Sunday and that was the reason but even when I picked up my order there weren't any nicety's exchanged. One of my pastries was had mushroom duxelle, that was extremely tasty, the duxelle was really well flavored, I wish i toasted it just a little. The pastry was so flaky and buttery so very savory. My husband like his little bun which had cinnamon and sugar and third pastry was an everything croissant which smelled good but we didn't get to try. Overall, I'd get again on Too Good To Go, but not sure if I'd go on my own, the team wasn't very friendly.

Yelp
I live in the Civita area, so I've been to La Clochette a decent number of times. I love their sweet pastries (almond and chocolate croissants).... If they even have them at all. They run out too early in the morning. I went at around 10:30-11 once, and they literally had one savory croissant left. While I think it's great that they're popular enough to run out so early, it's disappointing when their hours go until 2pm. That one savory croissant (ham and cheese) was not very tasty. Even Paris Baguette's ham and cheese croissant is better. Their coffees are just okay. I had the salted ube latte once, and I couldn't taste ANY ube. When I asked about it, I got a dismissive, "yeah, it's supposed to be subtle." Meh. Haven't bought coffee here since. It was not worth the $6-7 that I spent.

Yelp
La Clochette is a very simple yet chill cafe that serves pasteries, acai, cafe drinks. I had the privilege of having their matcha strawberry and it was just what I needed for a nice study session. I also ordered salmon toast as well as their acai. Very tasty as expected :). Wish I could have tried their pastries. The employees were very accommodating and friendly. There are no outlets so make sure if your studying have your computer at full battery!

Yelp
I walked over to this spot after browsing the nearby farmer's market. However, even though this cafe is super cute and in a nice location, I was not the biggest fan of their lattes. I got a simple matcha latte and was unimpressed by the quality and taste. In the future, I would probably skip getting a matcha from here but I look forward to trying a pastry.

Yelp
I stopped in at La Clochette for some pastries and they were absolutely incredible. Lots of fun options for croissants, looks like they also have a good food menu. Didn't have coffee but there were people there happily drinking their cups so must have been decent. Location is in a really nice spot around Mission Valley, felt quiet and a great place to do some work. Would absolutely go back!

Yelp
I was so impressed by La Clochette! I love the way that the Civita Park area is being built out and cannot wait for more shops and eateries to fill the space. For now, La Clochette is definitely one of the best options. This cute little coffee shop has limited hours, but it is a great spot to enjoy a morning beverage or bite to eat. My co-worker and I came by for some drinks. I got the iced black sesame matcha latte, which was a seasonal special. It was so creamy and delicious. The matcha is really good and they don't use any added sweeteners in the powder, so you can adjust your sweetness to your own desire if you'd like to add any simple syrup. It was noteworthy and something I'd come back for. We both got smoked salmon toast. It was a hearty portion with tasty smoked salmon and it was well-dressed. They do have wifi available and a few seats both inside and outside. Great environment, but most importantly, delicious drink and food!

Yelp
Amazing cute little coffee shop. They have your basic coffees and some specialty ones. We got the pistachio honey latte and the salted caramel Ube. Their pastries are incredible!! Their croissants are mind blowing. We got the breakfast croissant and with the Thai chili oil, it was sooo good. The croissant itself was so fluffy and just hands down the best breakfast croissant I've had!

Yelp
Overview: My new go-to for coffee and sweet treats! Street parking is difficult, but worth it for their delicious pistachio latte and pastries ---- Pistachio Honey Latte ($6.5): - Great pistachio flavor - Moderate amount of sweetness - I like mine a bit sweeter so it's a good level to be adjustable Chocolate Croissant ($5.95): - Such a beautifully made croissant - Super shiny and smooth exterior - Good lamination, flavor, and crunch ---- Notes: - I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they put prices on their pastries! - Both sweet and savory menu items - Street parking is difficult to find (apparently there's a parking garage nearby for free?) - Inside and outside seating available - Little area for lids, extra sweeteners, and sauces - Service was super friendly - Atmosphere was warm and welcoming; lots of natural lighting - Took 5 mins for the croissant and it was perfectly warm, took 10 minutes for drinks ---- Overall: I day dream about that pistachio honey latte, it's so good I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I used to go to La Clochette in PB and not sure if this is the same business but nothing to do. Yes, it is cute and minimalist but nothing similar. Pastries wise the ones I saw there looked old. There was a person cleaning (very good) and the person attending public was not welcoming in my opinion. I ordered the salmon toast and was very disappointing to see they sell so pricey and very thin slice of bread and minimal amount of salmon, plus not too attractive presentation overall. I thought it was too expensive for what I get and would not go all the way there for this.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a specific pastry but by the time I got there they ran out of kouign amann so I got the almond croissant. Was good, their Ube iced latte was good. I got the hazelnut latte with almond milk but It was just ok. I like the fact that there is parking

Yelp
The coffee and service is just as great as always. The changes baker's and have a new menu of pastries. I personally preferred the old classics. The chocolate croissants, butter croissants, cinnamon bun etc etc etc. So I'll probably just stick to getting coffee now and at least my waistline will thank me!! Still a great addition to civita and hope they continue to do well!!! Bring back the classic French pastries!!!!

Yelp
Lovely to visit La Clochette at their new location. Although it's not PB, and the open air and beach vibes are not there. I like this new location. It's clean, modern, minimalist. FYI: There is a garage near by where you can park for free. I visited on a Saturday morning to grab coffee with a friend. I ordered their iced matcha latte which did not dissapoint. After being there for quite a bit we decided to get some pastries as well- both were really good. I like that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I do look forward to coming back and trying some of their breakfast items. As I remember they always had an excellent brunch!
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Mission valley area definitely needs coffee shop/bakery options so happy to see this place finally open. It's a pretty small space but they do have some indoor and outdoor seating. We tried a cappuccino and the cinnamon bun w/orange and rosemary. The cappuccino was well made. The cinnamon bun was more like a morning bun since it didn't have any icing and the dough is more croissant like. That being said, the flavor was great! You could really taste the orange. The rosemary flavor didn't really come through until you ate the middle though. The dough was good too. It's a bit pricey with the cinnamon bun and cappuccino being almost $6 and $5, respectively so not sure I'd frequent too often but it's a nice option.

Yelp
La Clochette is french for the bell This cafe is a branch of its other location in Pacific Beach and La Jolla which closed post COVID pandemic. This location is in the Civita suburb community in Mission Valley of San Diego. Limited street parking available. Many locals allowed inside with pups, so it's dog friendly. No outdoor, only indoor seating. No ceramic cups and plates while dining there. Perhaps after the soft opening phase, reusable cups and plates will be offered. The staff were all nice, helpful and patient. One of the owners, Willy was cordial and super cool. With anticipation, I was delighted to visit this cafe that offers coffee, tea and house made french inspired pastries. I usually try the signature items of drinks and baked goods. As a caffeine purist, I tried their double shot espresso, one was sourced from Mexico and the other from Columbia, both were potent good, but the Colombian one was too acidic for my preference. Currently no table service. The space was organized and bright clean inside and outside. The display of pastries was a visual torture; I wanted one of everything! Without being predictable, I didn't order the common choice of croissant/almond croissant. Instead I opted for the unique oyster mushrooms and fontina cheese tartine looking pastry...which tasted trés bon! La Clochette is a welcomed addition to this area, Mais Bien Sûr, but of course. Recommend!!

Yelp
Decided to come here to try as it was near by. The worker was nice, but it felt like a strange vibe. I got there in the early afternoon so there wasn't much left, but given the time, you'd think there'd be something. Seemed like they didn't have anything when I asked for a number of items. They were out of all milk alternatives too. I was given the option of tea which I wouldn't have minded but I honestly don't think ordering tea for like $6 is worth the price. I ended up trying the ice matcha latte and I thought it was decent. Nothing impressive. Glad to give it a try, but won't be coming back

Yelp
I was so very happy to learn that La Clochette had opened up a new location. Not only because it's closer to my home, but because they offer a terrific product. Their espresso based beverages, breakfast items, and pastries are beyond legit. They are underway with a soft opening at this location. I had an almond croissant and an iced latte. The almond croissant was bliss with the right textures and flavors. I loved that it came loaded with almonds and such. Great eating. The latte was not only refreshing but flavorful as well. The coffee is rich in coffee flavor. The iced coffee came with just the right amount of ice. The service the counter was very friendly and with good conversation. They offer inside seating and will soon offer outside seating as well. check out their terrific baked goods. The place offers a trendy appeal.

Yelp
We were so excited when La Clochette finally opened in Civita! We've been waiting for a coffee shop to open up nearby that wasn't Starbucks. The space is an open concept with a couple of tables and chairs, along with an accessible bathroom. They just opened last week and it seems like they are still putting the space together, so there may be more seating soon. We loved their pastries - I got a ham and cheese croissant that had Dijon mustard in it - yum! And my fiancé got a chocolate croissant. They're open early from 7am - 2pm which is perfect to stop by during our morning dog walk. Plenty of parking on the street or in the parking garage around the corner too.

Yelp
I came for grand opening and am so glad the have a more central SD location in Civita outside of PB. I really love their almond croissant and also got the mushroom tile and an ube caramel latte. Line was long and out the door since grand opening and service was friendly and efficient given how busy it was. On the pricier side (~$20 before tip) but happy to support a local business. There's indoor and outdoor seating but it is a small space so I took my order to go. Pastries are flaky and delicious. Street parking and the shop is in close proximity to the park. Picture of their soft opening food menu included too, I didn't try the food this time.
google avatar

Denise A.

Yelp
Staff was friendly. We came in during soft opening, since the grand opening isn't until 10/5. We ordered a choco danish, cheese/mushroom danish, breakfast croissant as well as an iced ube latte and iced matcha latte. The pastries were tasty, not quite as flavorful as what I would imagined them to be. The drinks lacked the ube and matcha flavors; additionally we requested for them to be sweetened and it didn't taste like there were any adjustments. For these 5 items, it was ~ $40; which is a bit steep but perhaps that's just market price nowadays. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Doggos are happily welcome as well.
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
Staff here are very welcoming and I do so enjoy their great care in making delicious pastries! Super savory and I can say I love all of them! Parking here is easy and plentiful either on the street or in the building!

Sean B.

Yelp
I love walking over to La Clochette for my morning coffee and ham and cheese Croissant! They have a good selection of drinks (I prefer the Viennese, my wife's favorite is the Ube Caramel) and it's a great spot!

Yelp
It is great to see La Clochette open up in Civita! We finally have a coffee shop right in Civita! This coffee shop is decorated beautifully and offers a range of espresso drinks including flavored ones to match the season. During the fall time, they have pumpkin spiced latte and lavender latte. We came here during the soft open time. We ordered our typical latte and croissant for breakfast. Overall, they are okay. Nothing special really. It's nice to have a coffee shop in Civita!
google avatar

Kiki B.

Yelp
Worst coffee I've ever had. Stupidly tried them twice. First time wasn't even warm. Over roasted or stale both times ( strong ashy notes) as I visited late morning both times. Almond croissants are tasty and a good size very flaky and crunchy decent amount of filling.
google avatar

Bobby T.

Yelp
Finally!!!!! It's been difficult to find delicious croissants!! This place doesn't disappoint!! Came in a few Sundays ago and the Service was amazing. Great coffee and tea selections. The shop was quaint and cozy. A few seats outdoor. My fave was the mushroom and cheese but all was tasty. Basic coffee was delicious. Parking can be difficult but willing to drive and find parking to come back.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
This is a little fancy coffee shop near Civita park. Coming here for breakfast and going to the park made for a nice morning with the family.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
I was amped to see another coffee shop than Starbucks around hereI got myself a vanilla latte and a butter croissant. The coffee was OK wasn't too exciting to come back to and the croissant. Just tasted like something I could get at Costco.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
Love the PB location and was so happy to hear they expanded to Mission Valley! The croissants are such buttery and flaky deliciousness I got it plain, almond, and in a breakfast sandwich. Paired with a light vanilla matcha latte and it was a perfect way to start the day. I also tried the beet salad and it was very refreshing. There is street parking out front, on the side of the building, and some retail spots in the garage so plenty of options.
google avatar

Cathy G.

Yelp
No pastries. No warning. Listed as "bakery " and made their name in La Jolla on that basis. Also FYI the directions are misleading. The access is off a drive leading into the development, not ON. Covina Blvd
google avatar

Hilde B.

Yelp
Come here for brunch for a cozy, beachy, southern France feel. Every item on the breakfast plate I ordered was good, the coffee equally so, and the time spent at this spot with a friend was even better. En français or English...delicious and quality food has only one language.
google avatar

Shawn P.

Yelp
Awesome new addition to the Civita community. I stopped in on the way to work and was impressed by the selection of pastries and interesting latte flavors. Parking can be a bit tricky but I would be here everyday if I lived on this side of Friars! I'll be back soon!
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Visited Civita Park and saw there is a coffee shop nearby. I'm so glad I stopped in because the turmeric coffee latte was amazing. A little pricey, but worth the sweet treat. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Denice Walker S.

Yelp
Love this place, always stopping in after walking Civita Park for a cup of coffee and breakfast. They have the most amazing food and drinks.
google avatar

Shirley O.

Yelp
I've eaten at their Pacific Beach location and am glad that they opened a second cafe closer to me. The place is bright with lots of natural light. I had a cup of hot americano which was served in a ceramic cup. The coffee was smooth, strong and not bitter. I also had a cinnamon bun which had a subtle orange flavor. It was delicious. I also took home a loaf of levain bread. It had a good crust and was soft inside with a flavorful sourdough tang. The staff was welcoming and service was prompt. I look forward to returning.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
So glad La Clochette opened near my house! Now I don't have to drive all the way to PB anymore. Their pistachio latte and rose latte are must-tries--both are delicious and unique. Service was fast and great. Perfect spot for a cozy coffee break!

J D.

Yelp
I live in Civita and have been here a few times now. La Clochette is just ok. They are usually out of bakery by late morning or with minimal selection available. The coffee is nothing exceptional. It's unfortunate since there are so many other superior coffee spots throughout the area.
google avatar

Davneet K.

Yelp
Had a perfect cappuccino the other morning. So happy with this addition to the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to my next treat. I hope they add some great lunch sandwiches

Adam A.

Yelp
Given this place a handful of tries and am usually let down. The biggest issue is the communication breakdown between the register and the kitchen because modifications to orders always get lost. I can't eat bread, yes this is a bakery but I should be able to enjoy other items like omelets and salads by just omitting the included bread. On three occasions I tell the cashier to omit the bread for allergy purposes, and every time they've ignored the instruction and contaminate the dish with bread or croutons. Bummer
google avatar

marissa a.

Yelp
The pastries are good, the coffee was okay. The prices are outrageous. Parking is awful at Civita!
google avatar

Betty L.

Yelp
Cute and close! If you don't live within walking distance (I live very close!) there is dreadful parking if you're trying to park on the street, but little known is that there is parking for businesses in the parking garage under the Purl apartments which the retail is connected to! Go around to the 2nd stoplight past Civita or the 1st stoplight past Friars road? I'm surprised the owners don't mention it to customers since knowing that parking is so dreadful!!
google avatar

Andres B.

Yelp
Smooth coffee. Delicious baked goods. Always great and friendly customer service. A few seats at a nice location.
google avatar

Kunal M.

Yelp
Surprisingly excellent pricing and lots of substantial breakfast/lunch items. Coffee is delicious, syrups aren't too sweet, and the vibe right next to Civita park is unbeatable.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Can't give enough stars! Great Cafe & service I go there every weekend for a Coffee & chocolate croissant, best pastries in the city hands down!

Lauren K.

Yelp
We are so sad!! This was our absolute favorite breakfast spot in PB! When they closed down in PB we were hopeful to try their mission valley location. Unfortunately it was not the same at all, the menu is a fraction of what it used to be and the vibe feels super strange inside. Hopefully they can revamp what it used to be eventually!

Carol J.

Yelp
Staff were friendly. Coffee, not good. Had simple Decaf Americano with oak milk but it was very strong and it still made me nervous! Had hair in my cookie! The atmosphere was very pleasant. Hard to find parking though. Doubt I will return

Debra S.

Yelp
This so called French bakery no longer carries pastries. So disappointing. I used to go in consistently for a pastry and coffee. Now they only have a few expensive sandwiches or salads on their menu. I've stopped buying the coffee since there is no breakfast pastry to go along with it. Very little in the way of "breakfast". Not sure what business plan has a French bakery that doesn't sell pastries.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Good but pricey. Ordered 2 breakfast croissants, an ube latte and iced tea and it came to ~$45. Came around 11 and took the last two plain croissants, so come early if you want their more popular breakfast items. The ube latte had a nice and balanced flavor and you couldn't really taste the ube (which I liked - I prefer when the ube is subtle). Happy that civita has a bakery/coffee shop that's walking distance but prices are too steep to make this place a morning ritual.
