"It’s worth coming to La Cocina whether or not you’re interested in the very good food from Stephen’s Deli, which is where you’ll find this place, just past the bathrooms. This tiny cocktail bar in Hialeah is a blast all on its own. The drinks are great, you can order food in case you do start craving Reuben croquetas or an excellent burger, and there are these little Miami inside jokes sprinkled in every corner of the room - from the names of the drinks (the Pata Sucia is actually quite good) to the Royal Dansk cookie tins that cover the bar." - Ryan Pfeffer

@eater

"The team behind popular local eateries like LoKal, Kush, Spillover and Vicky’s House and Stephen’s Delicatessen, are bringing Hialeah its first cocktail bar, La Cocina Coctelería, a drinking den that pays homages to the area and its history. Located just down the hallway from Stephen’s, the space features bright neon signs by Camilo Rojas of CR-eate Studios, a large Cuban flag mural behind the bar, art installations with nods to Hialeah pop-culture references such as Ñooo! Que Barato, Caso Cerrado, The Hialeah Spiderman, an outdoor patio filled with decor one might find in abuela’s front yard, and more. As for the drinks, Kuscher and beverage director Joel Garcia collaborated with different cocktail pros around town to help make the Hialeah-inspired menu. Think drinks with cheeky names like the Leeeeterally Lucy Lopez made with Havana Club Rum, St. Germain and Cawy watermelon soda or the Piñaso made with Jupiña, Tito’s Vodka and lime. Bar bites include items like Reuben croquetas, pastrami nachos, Jewban sandwiches, drawing from Stephen’s Deli’s shared kitchen. La Cocina Coctelería is now open Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday until 2 a.m., and Sundays 12 p.m. to 11 p.m." - Olee Fowler

La Cocina is exactly the kind of place Hialeah needed. When you just don’t feel like getting dressed to go trip over the cracked (but colorful) sidewalks of Wynwood or dealing with panic-inducing street parking (that might just be me) for a tasty cocktail, La Cocina is close to home and hits the spot! And they have a free parking lot right across from Stephen's. I first visited La Cocina with friends in 2019 when excitement for the Leah Arts District was at its peak and lots of block parties and events were being held nearby. The vibe and quality of drinks, food, and ambiance has not changed! I will say, however, the times I’ve gone back since the pandemic/reopenings, La Cocina hasn’t been quite as busy as it was before 2020, which depending on how rambunctious of an ambiance you need to enjoy your cocktail, may or may not be a good thing! They used to be open more evenings of the week, but understandably they’re now only operating Friday and Saturday nights, and sometimes Sundays if there’s an event going on. There are some evenings where there’s a pretty good crowd, and in those instances, service does become a bit slow as there isn’t enough staff, but they do their best! If you’re someone like me and you’re petrified of fighting for attention and trying to shout and order a drink at the bar, have no fear as you can take a seat and they come to you! Socially awkward friends, you’re safe here. Within this year they changed up their menu, but most of the food options are the same. I’m not sure if they’re still on the current menu, but there were some cochinito tacos that were phenomenal, and the chicken and waffle sliders were great for sharing. The guava frita burger is one of my favorites, but with the recent menu change, the price has gone up (which is completely understandable in these times), but the burger is now served with coleslaw instead of fries. I hope that leaves you stunned in silence as it did to me. I can’t think of many circumstances in which I would like to enjoy a burger, possibly buzzed, and dip my fingers into some coleslaw. Please bring the fries back as the default side. You can substitute the cole slaw for fries, but last time I did, I think it was a $4 upcharge. But speaking of fries, it’s not listed on the menu, but please believe me when I tell you that you need to order the basket of fries. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re consistently the best fries you could hope for when you’re several drinks in. It’s just pure starchy, salty, potatoey magic. They’re so good that they have their own paragraph in this review. Get the fries. As for the drinks, there’s something for everyone on the menu (even non-alcoholic drinks). The names and concepts behind them are funny and tasty, and very very Hialeah. The presentation is *chef’s kiss*. My absolute favorite, which is no longer listed on the menu, was the Ya Tu Sabes, which was a mango old-fashioned. Andy, the cowboy hat-wearing rockstar of La Cocina that has been there since the post-pandemic reopening, always comes through when I ask for it even though it’s no longer on the menu. I’ve tried different drinks (the Que Cute from the first drink menu was a second favorite; it was guava and gin-based), but nothing compares to the Ya Tu Sabes. I very often come to La Cocina just for that drink. They serve it with a nice big ol’ cube of ice, so you know it’s legit. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but there are plenty of reviews also raving about the awesome attention to detail of the decor. As a Latina of non-Cuban descent, there are often many things about Hialeah that in a sense have made me feel left out, or that I couldn’t relate to. But there’s something about how La Cocina captured the essence of a childhood in Hialeah that still evokes a sense of nostalgia for me, and I really appreciate that. There is a LOT to love about this place, and I hope it continues to thrive and provide as this awesome little speakeasy in Hialeah. Definitely check it out!

You don't have to be from Hialeah, or Miami to enjoy the pop culture reference laden "Speakeasy" nestled in the back of Stephens Deli in east Hialeah. The bar menu is stacked with quality cocktails and delicious snacks, each with their unique twist and play on local culture. We had a great bar tender, Pepito who took the time to walk us through the many different offerings. The decor is fun and if you happen to be a local it will bring back many awesome childhood memories. I highly recommend to anyone who likes off the beaten path places with something different to offer.

I love the theme of this bar, any Miami native will feel right at home and any tourist will get blessed with some culture. The staff there seems very cool and very attentive. The walls are decorated with Hialeah artifacts and memorabilia. When we were there they had Caso Cerrado playing off the wall from a projector. They have some great tasting drinks with wild Hialeah names that are going to make you laugh. They can improve a bit on the music but maybe I just went on an off day but I will definitely go back to see if there’s a change in music.

Google
La Cocina what a great addition to the Leah Arts district!! Everything we hoped for. Delicious drinks, my favorite soda the Jupina now as a cocktail the Pinaso! Beautiful decor and touches the bar is reminiscent to La Bodeguita del medio Habana Vieja the patio to y dads Cuban porch. I had the jewban sandwich generous size and delicious. Great Friday night hot spot!

Came here in a whim and boy was I surprised in a good way. The vibe is laid back, the drinks were amazing and the bartenders were engaging friendly and knowledgeable. Looking around the bar I felt like I was in some abuelas house with caso cerrado playing and old goofy things on the walls. Will be coming back here for sure!

SHADY BUSINESS LA COCINA ATTACHED TO KUSH MIAMI LOCALS BEWARE!!!!!!! We came for a nice night out with friends we were only at this establishment for 15mins. They were having a problem with there card machine and decided to hold her card. We ordered food and just wanted to close out the bill but they said they had to hold it because of the issues with the machine. They lost my friends card for 15 mins the servers AND MANAGER did not care nor did they try to reassure us that they were making sure to look for the card. Thankfully my friend froze out her card they still wanted us to close out our bill and tried to give us a bottle of wine to say sorry instead of comping us on the meal. ( which eventually they did after basically telling them how dare you expect us to pay when you lost out card) SO on top of them losing my friends cards the service was not at all concerned they just lost card or possibly gave it to someone else. Absolutely unprofessional and shady it's a shame with good drinks and food the server SUZIE was unprofessional and rude and could care less that they just lost my friends card. Will never be coming back MIAMI locals beware of this place very shady and just all over unprofessional. It's a shame it's attached to an establishment like KUSH. The MANAGERS NAME WAS CHRISTIAN and and decided to be a manager after 25-30mins into the ordeal on top of that he was the original person that lost her card THE MANAGER. Waitress SUZIE in photo was attached to this review had a nasty attitude and was annoyed we were even bothering her about this ordeal. She said to me and I quote after I told her we've only been her for 15 mins that she heard me the first time. Can't believe a place like this exists. And on top of that she said oh let me ask my manager he probably left your card in his POCKET! Absolutely sketchy!!Miami locals beware go somewhere else. They took my friends number and said by the END OF THE NIGHT they'll get back to her.

The atmosphere was awesome and the service was even better. They really ran with the Hialeah theme and it's so authentic! Great place for drinks, laughs, and fun!

Google
One of my favorite place for cocktails. I liked their flamingo cocktail and ya tu sabes, their version of old fashion. The restaurant is part of the Kush family. Awesome food if you’re hungry as well.

Yelp
So, if you're in Hialeah tonight, and looking for a speakeasy, you may want to avoid this place, cuz you won't get in. Pulled up to a seedy looking building going down an unlit street and found a small crowd outside the door, so this must be the place, but... "It's closed," we were told when reaching for the knob. "They just kicked us out and said they are closing early today."

Soraya R.

Yelp
I visited this place through a special group "Miami Moms Collective". The place is small and great for couples, girlfriends nights and just to have a very creative drink. Highly recommended and it's located in the LEAH Design District.

Yelp
Always a great time at la cocina! Took my husband for the first time for some early evening drinks and bites and our bar tenders were absolutely lovely! We tried their croquetas and unlike your tradition croquetas, they were delicious! The ambiance, great and fun selection of cocktails, and service will always have me coming back for a chill night out. Ps. They have Salsa nights on Thursdays and I heard it get packed with salsa lovers!

Yelp
Been here many times before. get ready. Unbranded closed around the corner and I bet this place will get busy. The "playbill" definitely needs revamping so the least expensive drink is13 bucks. Yes the drinks are yummy but we need something not so upscale for us locals. Maybe a happy hour?? Anyway. Drinks are great thank you for being in the area

Yelp
If you are looking for a bar that represents the Miami Culture La Cocina is it. Located in Hialeah this small bar is full of Miami-themed aesthetics, even the bathrooms are great for pictures. One of the drinks I had is The Piñaso style. Jupiña is a Cuban pineapple soda that is very popular in Miami. You can always find it in a local bakery or Latin restaurant. Is perfect to pair with your pan con croqueta or Frita style burger. At "La Cocina" they decide to spice it up and add Tito's calling it "Piñaso".

Yelp
I have to say, drinks were absolutely wonderful! I had the "Que cute" drink and it came with a piece of guava on top. YUM! The place is very aesthetic and has funny Cuban decor all around! However, the space is very small. If there is over 20-30 people it is uncomfortable and tight. If you're not ok with tight spaces, I suggest stopping for a quick drink here and checking out the Unbranded brewery that is walking distance from here as well. Also, be aware, there is a strange crowd that goes to this place

Yelp
I ended up at La cocina coctelería thanks to Yelp. I was in Hialeah and I was looking for a place to have a drink. I saw the reviews and the pictures that other patrons posted and it immediately caught my attention. The place is very small, which is the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars. It is such a great bar but it is very limited. The drinks and the music were great. Super cute cocktails.

Yelp
How is this place not packed on a Saturday night?!?! Blows my mind! I literally fell in love with this place. It's a cozy, hidden, Hialeah inspired bar behind a restaurant. I mean from the moment you walk in, you have to laugh. This bar is so well designed and thought out. If you are a true 305 person, this place screams nostalgia. I am talking about Walter Mercado in the bathroom, Dr. Ana Maria Polo Frame, and Sabado Gigante memorabilia. Let's talk drinks! MY FAVORITE! The drinks are tasty, well thought out, and the presentation--well Instagram worthy. My table ordered so many different drinks but my top three were: 1) Pata Sucia (Served in a pink para such cup) 2) Pinaso (Served in a Jupina soda can) 3) Mucho Mucho Mezcal (Served in a Walter Mercado Candle) Now on to the food! Listen, I did not expect the food to be good. It's a bar, but I was wrong. The food menu is SMALL but they are really serving quality over quantity. The fried pickles are so tasty and they come two dipping sauces. The yuca fries are yummy. The star of the night was their croquetas. Four to an order, two of each kind: pastrami and corn beef hash (I think). I was not going to order them but I am glad I did. They were so tasty and pretty big croquetas. They serve them with two dipping sauces and of course some crackers. This place is truly a hidden gem. I highly recommend it!

Rachel P.

Yelp
This is definitely one of my favorite cocktail bars! I love that everything is Cuban related theme. I love that they thought of every single detail! From the caso cerrado projector to the bathroom walls. The cocktails are so creative and delicious. I was able to try a couple different ones and I can say I was not disappointed. The music is great too! However, I was surprised to see that this bar was not very large.

Shelly J.

Yelp
Cute hidden gem in Hialeah, my hometown. This cute place is nice and cozy. Although, my family is mostly Puerto Rican this place is a Cuban Restaurant, but hey, we are neighbors. I love the cute decor, reminds me of growing up in this area, a long time ago. You'll love vibe, the music, mostly reggaeton will get you moving and grooving. Bathrooms are cool too. Men's bathroom from what my ex at the time said are funny you'll have to see for yourself. You'll see Walter Mercado lol something my mom would have loved. Definitely a nice chill spot for happy hour. My favorite drink, The Papi Chulo. Vodka, Gin and Cucumber. Another favorite is Ya Tu Sabes, (You already know) delicious!! And you have to try it! Now one of my favorite Spanish foods is croquettes. Basically it's like a deep fried nugget but 10x, pack with a lot sazon and flavors. The pastrami nachos are ok, but I wasn't getting that wow factor. I must say they do make a good coquito but not as good as mine. Their Jewban is good. This place is more of a bar, so don't expect a full course dining experience. Service is great, parking not so much. Take an Uber!! Get here early!! It gets packed!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Such a cute little bar hidden in Hialeah. Great food, drinks & service. I highly recommend the black bean burger, their fries and fried yuca! Absolutely delicious! The PIÑASO drink is a cute idea, not really a favorite and the bubble gum vodka drink was a bit too much bubble gum for me. I am looking forward to going back and trying their other drinks!

Karen R.

Yelp
My first Yelp Elite event and what a fun experience. This bar is very home-y, the aesthetic gives me as a Latina, some nostalgic vibes from my upbringing like the Jon Secada pillows and the caso cerrado on the screen. The staff was very accommodating to the big group of hungry and thirsty Yelpers like myself. I loved that after the event was over, the staff was open to my friend and I buying other drinks after (I'm sure they were exhausted) but y'all know how that "just 1 more drink" is. Great event with friendly people at a welcoming bar. Can't wait for more events!

Maria R.

Yelp
Food was great, the cocktails were creative and delicious, and the service was perfect. The restaurant's decor and ambient was fun and refreshing. Very happy to have discovered this gem and we will definitely return.

Angelica A.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night at 9 pm and it was pretty empty so we sat at the bar and ordered. I had the tiki tiki music (not pictured) and it was delicious! Piñaso was good too but jupiña is so sweet I couldn't finish it all. The ambience of La Cocina is great and as a Cubana, I loved it so much! Parking is a bit limited and the place itself isn't very big. But we had a great time and left after about 45 mins - 1 hour since it started getting crowded.

Kat G.

Yelp
Great food and drinksssss. All of it, very small but super cute. Service is great, the music could be better:

Marilu F.

Yelp
It looks like Hialeah is finally getting with the times. This cocktail bar opened up a few months ago and it's already pretty popular. I mean, how can it not be? The owners of this really tailored it to the crowd. Small it may be, but going in, if you're Cuban (and more generally Hispanic) growing up in Miami (more specifically Hialeah), this place will speak to you. Caja China signs, the Cuban flag, a belt, even reruns of Caso Cerrado. It felt just like home to me. Not to mention the blasts of reggaeton. Oh, and if you have to go to the bathroom, prepare to see Walter Mercado himself. He's plastered all over the walls. You'll be there wondering if he's going to all of a sudden tell you anything about your zodiac sign. Seriously. I was wondering if I would think to myself, "Sagitario." Décor aside, they offer food and drinks. Didn't try the food, but I did try their version of an Old Fashioned, which they call Ya Tú Sabes. I legit loved it. It was smooth, the right mix between whiskey and bitters. My friends and boyfriend ordered a variety of drinks including but not limited to the Pata Sucia and some coquito. Truly they have something for everyone. I do have to say, though, that if you've never been - definitely go, but use Uber or Lyft. Parking is questionable in the Leah Arts District, and what little parking is around, seems to be worthy of a fight. It's just not worth the stress. Also, don't go in a rush. Service was slow as molasses (mind you - the waitress we had was nice and friendly). I think it's just that the secret's out about this place. That, and well, Unbranded Brewery is nearby as well. Oh, and a bit of surprising twist to this fun Saturday night - we met DJ Laz. He seems to frequent the place if his photo by the bathroom wall is any indication. Incredibly pleasant man and a great cocktail bar! This is exactly what Hialeah needed. ¡Salud!

Leila R.

Yelp
What a great find for food, fun, and cocktails in Hialeah! They have an incredible HH & amazing cocktails (the Ñoooo Que Bueno was the all around fav!), a good local beer draught selection, and a great ambiance + decor inside. They make a strong HH Cuba Libre, for $5 u are getting your money's worth! They also have good HH food offerings, and again for $5 their cochinto con piña tacos are a delicious steal! Standout service! We were doing a meet n greet w/the Cuban Abuela next door and they came to tell us it was our turn, but I had already put in my order. The absolutely fantastic bartender brought me my tacos next door while I was in line!? Just wow!! Cannot wait to come back!

Jazmin G.

Yelp
For Christmas I always ask my friends to share experiences with me rather than get me gifts. Visiting La Cocina Coctelería with my cousin is one of the highlights of my Christmas this past year (even tho we ended up coming after the new year). This is literally a hole in the wall in the warehouse district of Hialeah. Like leeeterally right down the street from the Hialeah Expressway and about 4 minutes from Hialeah Hospital. I can totally see this becoming THE local bar for anyone and everyone who lives in the area. The parking kind of sucks, but again, it's in a warehouse area so it comes with the territory. When you walk in, first thing you'll notice is the hayooooge Ñoooo Que Barato sign on the wall and red flood lights. There's a caja china lined wall on the opposite sign and tons and tons of Miami style decor everywhere. From the back splash of the bar being Abuelo wafer tins to a sign on the bar that says "No Patas Sucias". This place is allllll about the Gram. If you're looking for a place to get a meal that isn't a burger, this probably isn't the place to start. Although you can start here with a bunch of fun things "para picar", but don't come here looking for Abuela's arroz con frijoles or anything like that. The croquetas aren't my fave but they're okay, the Pastrami Nachos are more my scene. They're sooooo good! The Kush Frita Burger has to be one of the best burgers in Town too. All in all the finger foods are great here and the service is fantastic, but the real highlight of coming to La Cocina Coctelería are the dranksssss. They're all super good right down to the shots or Coquito. Pero like, for real, they leeeeterally blow your mind. All in all, super fun little spot. Would definitely come to pregame here if I'm going somewhere else nearby. Love it. Shout out to Joseph and German for being so damn cool with us too.

Nicole P.

Yelp
This spot gets all my love!!! I had an amazing time, the ambiance is absolutely perfect. The decor is so great and makes me feel all warm and Miami inside. The cocktails have fantastic and hysterical names but the best one was the "Nooo Que Bueno" its soooo good and comes with a shot of cafecito and a lady finger cookie! It was awesome and I cant wait to have it again. Its my new fave cocktail, they have Happy Hour monday-friday and i will be trying that out next time as well as their food which looked perfectly delicious! You have to go and get your ultimate Miami vibes on!

Lynette B.

Yelp
Guao! Anyone who grew up in Miami with Cuban family will feel right at home in this place. Love the cozy vibe and La Caja China wall. Also, I was mesmerized watching Caso Cerrado with no volume. It really lets your imagination run wild as to what the heck is going on. Everything was so meticulously curated - the decor, the cocktail names, the food. We ordered the Pots & Pans and the Ya Tu Sabes - both delicious. Then we tried the pastrami nachos: a hearty amount of food. Messier than I would have liked, but the nice chunks of pastrami really went well with nachos. Who knew?! The have a well lit parking lot in an otherwise dark warehouse district. Service was good and the music was awesome. Definitely a nice place to hang and reminisce.

Yelp
Bro, pero like I've been meaning to come here for as long as when Miami Lakes was full of cows..I finally got the chance to stop by yesterday to pregame for a Halloween Party (side note: I believe they had a special 'Tricontri' cocktail) In true Hialeah tradition, this was essentially "un eficienci" built into the institution of the remade Stephen's Deli. It is a cozy space, so it's great for small parties or even solo drinking. Without even going to the drinks, this has to be the bar with the BEST late night kitchen in Miami. Das right meng, you will be fed portions and flavors that put your abuela's cooking to shame. I ordered their frijoles negros (black bean dip) expecting a hipster size dedal of beans. Bro, I got tremendo plate of black beans with pico, a dash of spicy something and crispy chips. This was like you were eating for all the hungry kids in Cuba, like your parents used to guilt you into eating. Someone else ordered a LOADED pastrami sandwich. So basically you won't go hungry. You know what I like to drink; the "ño que bueno" (Damn, it's good) Truth in advertising, it is! This was basically a Rum Old Fashioned, with vermouth and a cafecito shot in the old school paper cup and with a mini clothespin. Oh, and since I was pregaming I also ordererd their coquito in a Cuban coffee cup. The famous Walter Mercado mural wasn't in the men's room but it was decorated with clippings of old Hialeah newspapers and the Hialeah spiderman. They also sell various memorambilia as well.

Óyeme, se la comieron! Hialeah, te pusisteis las pilas! It's like they took a colada to the face and went on a creatively nostalgic approach to the scene that's represented within the Leah Arts District. Chancleteras are allowed sin pena so feel at home. Although, you can totally dress up and not be out of place either. It exudes Hialeah pride de cabeza a pies. Every crevice of this establishment has been revamped offering a cool spot to soak in the culture and neighborhood flair within the City of Progress that's on the rise. Serving specialty cocktails and menu favorites from the movers and shakers behind Kush along with the vintage presence of the NY Deli it has served as for decades brings the attention to how something classic never goes out of style. Reuben Croquettas? I wasn't prepared for that level of excitement. The onion appetizer dipped into the garlic sauce was decadent. We enjoyed it outside on the enclosed terrace with another order of the Guava Frita. I mean...it's a classic. The drinks were all named after super cute sayings that we all leeterally can't escape. Walter Mercado is in the bathroom? Oh, this place truly went the extra mile. I've never been prouder of Hialeah. This was a beautiful moment. Natalie was our server and she was whipping out those drinks quicker than we could drink them. The service is great and the location finally brings a focus to this perpetually dull region of Hialeah with promises of puro banquete. Dale Hialeah4Lyf

Yelp
Ay Dios Mio - Matt Kuscher knocks it out of the park again. If you haven't been to La Cocina, you need to stop what you're doing and go. You walk in, and you're transported back to 1980s Cuban-American culture in South Florida. I came on a Sunday for a drink with my better half. With drinks like Pata Sucia, El Burrito Sabanero, and Ya Tu Sabes, you can't go wrong. They even have a secret drink menu and have shots of Coquito :) We didn't have any food, but I definitely will plan on it next time. Our bartender, Pepito, was super attentive and knowledgeable. What I appreciated about the bartenders is the detail they use to create every drink. It's not just thrown together, it's a masterpiece. Now, let's discuss the bathroom. The ladies bathroom is decked out head to toe in Walter Mercado memorabilia. It also has the 1980s tile from every Miami house. La Cocina isn't large and it's pretty hidden, so look carefully. Since it shares space with Stephen's Deli next door, there is ample parking in that parking lot. In the words of any Miamian, "No, yeah, you literally have to check La Cocina out!"

Yelp
Great Hialeah gem! Went here after karaoke night for a close friend's birthday. Tried a few of their cocktails while friends ordered various ones from the menu and not one cocktail had disappointed me. We were really hungry though and kitchen had just closed when we arrived. Whoops. Aesthetics is gorgeous and fun, with vibes of Miami Vice x Modern Cuban x South Beach. Despite the small space, there's enough seating/tables. Women's restroom is very decorated of all things Walter Mercado. I'd come again for the fun vibes and to try the food and more drinks!

Yelp
The hype for La Cocina was real! I had to visit with a friend who was in town visiting. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. They had a few waitresses and the wait for drinks was not terrible. The decor in this place is great. Very Miami and very Cuban. Loved it so much, that I dragged some friends after brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was so much better because we got to try a number of drinks and really take in the decor. Their patio area is really cute with rocking chairs, dominoes, and a makeshift bar made out of hialeah garbage cans! I can't choose a favorite drink but the Ya Tu Sabes, Pata Sucia, and Piñaso are high up on the list. Also, the pastrami nachos are delish!!

Yelp
Pros: What a Miami gem! Love the decor and vibe, the drinks were delicious, the music was great, and the patio really took me back to my Cuban inlaws yard. I tried the Que Cute and La Griga, both fantastic, everyone loved their drinks. Will definitely return.

Yelp
I will definitely be writing a revised version of this place when I can go for longer and have some of their food as well. The place was really cute. Loved all the Miami/Cuban inspired dessert. It is a little on the small side, which was a little annoying because the place was packed but what can you do?! I will come back on a not-so busy day as I went on a busy Saturday night. The cocktails are great! I am usually not a fan of cocktails bc I like to keep my drinks simple (vodka/soda) but I had to try one of these bc frankly they were just so cute and interesting. I had the Jupiña one (can't rem the name) and it tasted just like Jupiña and vodka. Very sweet for my taste, but I knew that bc Jupiña is very sweet. My sis had the Brujeria and she loved it. All in all this place has a lot potential especially if you live in the area. Cute local spot withe charm. I will be back to taste the food and really just hang out for longer.

Yelp
Cool decor and love the creativity with the menu names. Even the bathroom is amazing (see pics)! Food was good and I enjoyed the beer I got and I don't even like IPA's. The frita burger was nice with the slice of guava in there and the fries were generously seasoned with salt and pepper. Regular burger is a double and also yum. Menu is lacking descriptions though. A few other issues though - it was really hot in there. My friend and I were sweating. No fans or AC it felt like in Miami August weather Also they were clearly short staffed with only 2 servers/bartenders and I had to ask for water a few times cuz they forgot I had asked. There was quite a while where there was no server to be found at all. Also 20% gratuity is automatically included even though we were only a party of 2!

Yelp
What a beautiful place curated with amazing Hialeah classics and Cuban fun! This place was surprising not as busy as I imagined it to be. The people working there are fun, interactive, and make you feel a part of the Hialeah culture. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy my roots!

Yelp
Nice little spot with great craft cocktails and delicious finger foods. Every corner is decorated with traditional "what you see in Hialeah" items. Even the bathroom has little hidden jems inside ;). They have a good selection of varied music playing in the background and a projector that was playing "caso cerrado" when we were there lol. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and attentive. I had an excellent time! Very impressed with the first cocktail bar in Hialeah. Will definitely come back very soon. Hopefully they'll implement a happy hour menu soon We got: Elena Ruth (amazing) and burger. Pots and pan (my fav), Que cute (bff favs), tiki tiki, sn If your Cuban, you must go. Dale!

Yelp
Can't go wrong with la cocina. The drinks are fantastic and I love the homey atmosphere. This is the epitome of the Hialeah/Cuban culture with Caso Cerrado playing in the background and Walter Mercado decor in the bathroom.

Alyssa G.

Yelp
Everything from the food and drinks to the decor is on point with the "Hialeah/Cuban" theme. I tried the piñaso as well as some other cocktails and they were all amazing! The charcuterie board was a bit lacking, but refreshing in that it wasn't basic. Super cool hidden gem.

Yelp
Hialeah in the house!! haha Finally I made my way here! I don't go to Hialeah that often. My friends are always laughing at that LOL. I had a wonderful time and experience. Here's what I had for food and drinks: Drinks: - Pata Sucia cocktail - Scotch, Coconut Water, Orange Simple Our version of a Scotch And Soda. **side note for those that don't speak spanish. Pata sucia means dirty feet. This is a term given to people that remove their shoes in public. haha. - Piña Colada cocktail - ** Pina colada means strained pineapple Food: - Elena Ruth sandwich w/chips - Sandwich is made with Turkey ham, bacon, cream cheese and strawberry jam. - Black bean dip - served with pico de gallo, and yellow corn chips. The food and amazeballs!! The piña colada was outstanding. The Pata Sucia drink was just ok for me. But that's just my preference. Talking about pata sucia, this was witnessed first hand last night. Even I took part in the action (look at the pics attached). The service was pretty good and the employees were all really nice. The decor was very Hialeah friendly and appropriate. The music was on point. The establishment and the bathroom was clean as well. Overall great night! The only reason I'm giving this review a 4 is because there was a decoration that kept falling behind us with a hanging screw. Someone could have gotten stabbed by it.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a birthday and let me start by saying that the bar is literally a hole in the wall. We had to sit outside because there was no space inside. Our waitress was never to be found. We kept asking for them to play the same music they were playing inside, outside so we could also have a good time yet they never did. The drinks were not good, just cool looking. Let's just say that we left within the hour and will never go back.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things. My bartender Andrew guided us through an array of cocktails. Atmosphere was very cool. I live in Miami Springs so definitely a spot to check out. Food was also very good. Phenomenal..def my new spot I can't stay away...Andres is my favorite bartender..dragged my friend here. Been here 5X and the drinks are phenomenal. Hopefully this place stays around for a while

Yelp
HerMaGerd!!! From the moment you walk in you're transported to a magical place. Super happy there are no windows here, you can easily loose hours here eating and drinking. From the outside the space doesn't look like much until you walk in, from the floor to the ceiling to the bathroom to the murals there are details EVERYWHERE. My waiter was so nice! He kept coming over just to make sure we were comfortable without being overbearing. Even though the place was packed you can tell people were having fun and being well attended to by the staff. My drink was super delicious but definitely coming back for food! Side note: parking in the lot in front of the other business.

Yelp
The food is probably the worst thing here. Bean dip was cold and chips were stale. The burger wasn't a big deal, my partner described It as a checkers burger (surprised because we've eaten at kush and he loved their burgers). Lastly, the croquetas were not the best, they were empty inside and kind of cold. I like warm croquetas , personally. The fries were delicious and the execution was great. Decoration and drinks is why you should go here. You'll have a great time taking selfies with all the crafty ideas places on to each wall, from caja china, bricks, lotto tickets, Walter Mercado and much more! Plus they have fun pillows which have hidden pictures and messages designed inside. I love how everything represents the culture. I took the "hialeah quiz" and got a 9 out of 10. If you're looking for a great spot to enjoy happy hour with a date or a few friends, make sure to check It out... it'll definitely make for a great conversation piece.

Yelp
La Cocina what a great addition to the Leah Arts district!! Everything we hoped for. Delicious drinks, my favorite soda the Jupina now as a cocktail the Pinaso! Beautiful decor and touches the bar is reminiscent to La Bodeguita del medio Habana Vieja the patio to y dads Cuban porch. I had the jewban sandwich generous size and delicious. Great Friday night hot spot!

Yelp
Came here last night for the first time. What a great experience, especially if you're from Hialeah. They had every little detail down. The drinks were off the chain and so was the food. It was very packed and a little hot, but nothing too crazy. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Loved this place, so much fun super awesome vibe .. the deco is hilarious .. came here with my hubby and my brother we were very curious since i believe there no such thing as a cocktail bar in hialeah so We were looking forward to see what was la cocina about and amazing, the drinks name are super fun we got to enjoy the piñaso , brujeria, tiki tiki music and the super fruity bro also ee ordered a blue long island which is was super good too for picadera we had the reuben croquetas and the elena ruth sandwiches everything was sooo good and the service was spectacular i will definitely be back..

Yelp
Love the decor! Finally a little gem in Hialeah. The drinks are all great and the Frita burger is .

Yelp
Bro! This place is like a South Florida 30-somethings childhood wrapped up in a Galleta tin can. The level of detail that was put into the ambiance is commendable. The music was on point! Like someone stole all my mixtapes and made them into one playlist. The blooming onion was the perfect partner for a good piñazo (ask for extra sauce- trust- you're going to want extra sauce) At first I wasn't sure about the nachos but they ended up being a hit. Coming back here with con el familion completo stat!

Yelp
Get the French fries.... they're amazing! However, don't expect La Cocina to be too much like the Lokal... that's the mistake we made. I was thrilled at the thought of a version on the Lokal or Kush closer to home. Here the menu is much more limited... particularly the beer selection. The theme here is aimed more towards Mojitos... which makes sense, I guess.Inside, the space is quite small, and the music is very very loud... you won't be able to have a conversation. In fact, we moved outside to the very cool little street side patio. The music out there was so loud that I wondered if the houses across the street don't have an ongoing battle with them- I know I'd be pretty unhappy! But the waitress- who was amazing- cheerfully agreed it was too loud, and, thankfully, the volume could be controlled independently from the inside. Don't expect the scrumptious grass fed patties of the Lokal here... the burgers are thin and fried. But still good, although way over salted. When we were inside I ordered a glass of the only beer they had on tap... a dark ale. Unfortunately, they ran out before I could get a second.... surprising since we were there for an early dinner. But, again, I'm guessing beer isn't the drink of choice here. The patio area is very cool... with some very entertaining design elements (look at the window panes!). They even have an old TV console with built in record player... it would be cool if they had that up and running! Someone needs to put the window box plants out of their misery... Although the ceiling fans are probably necessary... you'll definitely feel like you're rushing to eat before things get cold. There are lots of fans, and they were on high. Thanks to this outdoor patio, though, we were able to have a nice dinner. But this is, in the end, my least favorite of these sibling establishments. It definitely isn't on par with the Lokal or Kush.

Yelp
Disappointed:(. I loved this place the first two times I came , around the time when it opened . Today we ordered the Tremendo Charcuterie which we had been looking forward to have because it was so good and unique . It used to have galletas , a bean spread, different types of cheese etc( see before picture). The board today came with no crackers, no spread , sliced cheese (come on!!) , tiny pieces of pastrami just thrown on the plate and the mariquitas that we got were the last crumbs from the bag! -just poorly put together and nothing of what it used to be. I wish I had taken a picture for comparison. Even if the menu slightly changed , the charcuterie board looked like it was put together in a rush by a kid and was made from the left overs of Stephens' deli. We brought some friends today and we told them we HAD to order the charcuterie. There was nothing "Tremendo" about it. We were pretty embarrassed to have suggested it . We literally looked at it and wondered if we had gotten the wrong order. The drinks (pots and pan , Moscow mule and Quinceañera (zero proof ) were ok not as good as they were before, did not look as cool as they used to and tasted just like anywhere else. I hope this was a "one off " because we loved it here before but it's pretty disappointing when restaurants lower their quality so much .

Yelp
I will start their review with our service and how amazing it is. Starting with the guy at the door which later on I found out was the actual owner. He was extremely welcoming and nice along with the waitresses/waiter. Very attentive and explained their complete unique Hialeah touched menu. I had the Piñaso and Pata Sucia and my friend had the Lucy Lopez and both were delicious. We also tried the croquettas, another yum. All the details were so thought out. And you know only in Hialeah will the be showing Caso Cerrado in a bar. Definitely returning!

Lizbeth E.

Yelp
La cocina has so many positives. The attention to detail is mind blowing. Every drink I have tried has been made to perfection. The Ruben croquetas are my favorite snack to order. Bathrooms are beautiful and spotless. I have one big problem to report; the service. We sat and waited for what felt like forever and eventually had to go to the bar and order. This happened all night. Yes there was a waitress going from table to table but seemed to skip ya each time.

Greter G.

Yelp
La Cocina is such a great place, is kind of like a cocktail bar, you should visit it and try their drinks. 100% recommended

Carly M.

Yelp
This is the most Miami place you will ever see! And I love it! The attention to detail is out of this world. Lotto tickets, Caja China, casa cerrado, Walter Mercado and sooo many more gems featured at la Cocina . The cocktails are delicious and unique with lots of Miami staples. My favorite was the pinaso . They offer bites from Stephens deli like Ruben croquettas and pastrami nachos. I'm itching to go back and try the rest of their drinks and snacks!
