Philly’s Best Breakfast Sandwiches

"This Philly powerhouse brand just celebrated ten years at their Fishtown location with the revival of their hot kitchen menu. Among this highly anticipated menu of new and returning items is a fan favorite that has never left — their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich." - George Banks-Weston

Best coffee in Penn Square! The cheese danish pastry was yummy too. My cold brew tasted good. I liked the self service milk and syrup station. The draught latte was interesting! A little milk-forward for me, but my wife liked it. Don't let the line bother you. It moves quick.

Been here several times already. Love the vibes with the city hell view so much. Might be crowded most of the time but I like this spot.

Emerson Perper

Google
This spot is always busy, but there is usually a surprising amount of seating still available. They’ve made good use of the space. Baristas are attentive and accomodating. When I had a concern about my drink, they took me seriously, explained their brew process, and remade the drink for me. What I was worried would be an awkward situation ended up being no problem at all. Oat draft latte is so smooth.

Google
Great coffee! Great City Hall views!

Budi

Google
Very good place to drink coffee in the morning, the staff serves quickly so that the long snaking queue is quickly passed. The taste of the coffee is world class, the view of Philadelphia city hall. recommended place

Google
Friendly staff. They move FAST through the morning line. Vegan breakfast and pastry options, including donuts and cinnamon roll. Cinnamon roll was pretty good - 3/5. Latte was also pretty good - 3/5.

Google
I'm always happy to support La Colombe, a Philadelphia origin café, when I can. I always know I will be getting excellent coffee properly crafted for the perfect café experience. This location, ultra-conviniently located in Center City, has always provided great service and reliable coffee. Their pastries are tasty, too!

Ben Bain

Google
Nice, airy space right across from City Hall and Dilworth Park. Tasty, well made handcrafted coffees. And they have a self-serve area with a variety of sweeteners and dairy/non-dairy carafes so you can fine tune your coffee as desired

Yelp
I've always wanted to try a pastry from La Colombe, and I've finally got the chance. I think I'm more disappointed that I didn't buy two instead of one. This muffin was not your average muffin; it had the consistency of pound cake, but it was light and airy. The lemon curd was sweet and zesty. It paired well with the blueberry, cutting the sweetness, it was perfectly balanced. The servers were very friendly, and the ambiance was pristine.

Yelp
Great coffee in an even better location. The café is clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating inside with few table outdoor. The staff at the counter are welcoming and friendly. There's something special about sipping a good coffee served in a china cup while taking in the stunning view of Philadelphia's City Hall; it's a small moment of everyday luxury.

Yelp
The corporate version of the hipster coffee joint I've been wandering around Philly for a little while, and went yo this coffee spot by the city hall to give it a try. It has a lot of the hallmarks of a coffee joint. Lots of wood and reclaimed steel for seating and tables. But most of their drinks are from a tap, and they prepackage most of their other goods. Their signage is more professional than one would expect for a coffee place, and it's very bright. It's not bad coffee. The latte I ordered was done with espresso from a machine, and it was only somewhat bitter. It wasn't great, but it was better than something like a Dunkin or Wawa. It's coffee if you need coffee. It's built to be rapid fire, and there's little soul left. There's a lot of coffee places to try, so this might be the weaker option to go to. But it's close to city hall it's decent, that may be enough for you

Yelp
Dead in the heart of Philly, maybe a ten minute leisurely walk from Reading Terminal Market. Got an Ethiopian pour-over here in the middle of a chilly Saturday. This place is BUSY so try to get there a bit earlier if you want to stake out a spot for your and your friends to catch up.

Yelp
When walking around the City Hall area, La Colombe is a great place to stop in for a fresh pastry and coffee! I loved the quick service, getting a cereal milk latte on draft (that tasted like Honey Grahams!) and my kiddo was hooked on the iced tea after we walked around a local parade in the heat. The pastry options were awesome, as she had a croissant and I had a delicious strawberry vegan donut! Surprisingly it wasn't dry and tasted great!
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time here and I loved it so much I visited 2 times in my trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful when I was ordering and ensured I ordered the perfect drink for myself. I can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
My cup of cappuchino was amazing. We sat inside, seating seemed ample. Coffee had a rich flavor. Only issue was that the china cup had some chips around the rim. They should retire these cups and replace with new.
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
Stopped by to get some iced coffee but the seasonal strawberry matcha was calling my name. It was flavorful and I did enjoy it, but it had way too many ice cubes, after a few sip, all that was left were the ice. The blueberry muffin was perfectly sized and flavorful
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Solid coffee spot with a couple of cool pastry options. They weren't able to warm the pastries up, but they weren't bad. We had espresso and cappuccinos. They were all good. The place itself is decently, big and convenient.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Had coffee after the car show. Really enjoyed cappuccino in china cups. Plenty of space for seating.

Yelp
This coffee shop is the epitome of the hustle and bustle of a big city. I got there around 10 am on a Thursday morning and the place was absolutely packed, the line almost out the door. It had a sort of energy that got you excited for a new day. I'll be honest... I'm from out of town so it could be an experience specifically of a tourist... but I have an inkling that the energy is contagious and felt by all that walking in their doors. There was a ton of seating, a giant counter where you order, then wait at the bar for your drink. Despite the line being long, they are wizards at getting customers through. I ordered a latte with almond milk. I wish they had soy milk, but it was still just what I needed that morning. My boyfriend also got a latte and we split one of the blueberry pop tarts we noticed when we ordered. The pop tart was awesome! Anyhoo, solid coffee spot. I'd go back.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Not many solid coffee spots on the neighborhood, but this one covers the basic coffee needs. My partner ranks them number one for the area. I definitely put them behind elixir, but still good.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Came here to get some work done but found out they did not offer Wi-Fi after I already ordered. I used my cell phone hotspot which wasn't ideal. The interior was pretty spacious and good for working with outlets along the wall. I got an iced latte that was on point for the hot humid day in Philly. I chose whole milk. They give a long spoon to mix with. The pastries didn't look bad either. Location is right next to city hall and along the bustling street.

Alexandria C.

Yelp
this place is terrible. They do not know how to properly were extremely rude. The was absolutely horrible and there is no ambience because I seen other reviews and had the same experience that the security just asked you to leave or you only have five minutes to drink your drink what the heck

Yelp
Seasonal Draft Latte (20oz) was DELICIOUS and perfect. I think this one was hazelnut, the consistency was perfect - especially on a HOT 90+ degree day. I just love the consistency of La Colombe's coffee, I first discovered this brand at Trader Joe's (canned versions), so I took my mom here while we were visiting Philly! The store itself is really pretty inside as well! The coffee was really fast (I mean, it is on tap LOL).
google avatar

Retna S.

Yelp
La Colombe is my favorite coffee in the city. I ordered decaf cappuccino and it had very nice coffee flavor. My order came out fast. This store can be busy sometimes.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I had no idea La Colombe was from Philly, so during my recent visit to Philly, I noticed this was their local coffee shop and I'm like, what??? Whenever I walk by a La Colombe, I feel as though I just need to go in and get my favorite drink, a latte... it's just so good. It's silky smooth. It's not overly strong, but then I put simple syrup on it. It's the perfect latte.. While I glad NYC has La Colombe, somehow drinking where it originated for tastes slightly better

Yelp
Plus(es) - Great coffee ! I was impressed and I'm very particular about my coffee. Minus(es) - seating was almost non existent. And why was the temperature inside so ridiculously HOT ?? Not warm - HOT !! Everybody there was peeling off layers and layers of winter clothes. I had to keep my heavy sweatshirt on as I didn't have a nice T shirt underneath
google avatar

Shellynn Nicole N.

Yelp
This is a great spot! Had some last minute change of plans this morning and needed to find a spot to chill and get some work done while i waited to check into my Airbnb. The view alone inspires creativity to flow for me and the coffee is great! This place is buzzin but not overstimulating. Chill ambiance

Priya B.

Yelp
Incredible coffee and service. I went there everyday. Never disappointed and made my day
google avatar

Yelp
Best Cafe I've been to so far, egg sandwich was amazing and delicious! I will definitely go there again..
google avatar

Joy N.

Yelp
The Croissants are amazing!!!! I am a croissant snob. Once you had a good one. You can go back to the mass produced store bought ones that you find in the market, DD or Panera. I am only disappointed that I discovered this place on the last day in Philly. I guess I will have to take some to go!!!
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
Great coffee but this location is just very awkward as far as lines go. Latte and cold brew do the trick that the hotel coffee just cant compete with.
google avatar

Johnathan S.

Yelp
Not a bad choice in the morning. I never visited a La Cologne Coffee shop before and while I was in Philly I checked it out with my fiancée and we love the coffee BUT they really didn't have any flavors to the coffee like a classic vanilla or caramel flavor that I think they should add to the shop or menu.... The espresso was delicious and the draft was also good but 3 out of 5 stars overall. I'll stick to Starbucks and Dunkin
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious coffee! Wish we had these on the west coast! Seems to be a popular spot in Philly
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time trying out La Colombe and I'm a fan!! I had the most delightful chai tea latte. If you're looking for a good variety and yummy coffee this is your place!
google avatar

Alma Q.

Yelp
Great tasting coffee and tea. Their black n white is so tasty! Lots of seating, windows, good people watching, and great view of city hall and Dillworth park. Has wi-fi. Good french pastries, croissants, and sandwiches, salads. Pleasant, attentive, informative staff.
google avatar

Eli P.

Yelp
Looking for a breakfast place and our hotel concierge suggested this place. Cute. Good coffee but it's not a breakfast place people. I wouldn't even want to hangout and have coffee here for that matter. Seating is uncomfortable. No food is warmed up even if you request it. No knives to cut your cold breakfast sandwiches. But hey, so comforting to know that everyone in the restaurant is vaxxed but if you're just taking to go, no need to show vaxx id. Not impressed. Not coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
I was in Philadelphia for two days and found La Colombe Coffee which is a gem! This is a good choice to get your morning coffee, express or latte. It's busy, but they do a good job keeping the line moving and getting your order to you. Both mornings I had the latte with non-fat milk and a danish one morning and a chocolate croissant the next. All were good and much better than your average Starbucks.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
I've had their coffee plenty of times. I'm always a fan. This last weekend I switched it up and tried the Oatmilk chai latte. I was surprised it was a cold drink as it seemed to be a fall special. But it was pretty tasty. I was in and out fairly quickly. No complaints.
google avatar

Lauren I.

Yelp
This is it. I've found my La Columbe in Philly. Not only is it close to work, but the service is great. I could actually hear the smile in the cashier's voice when I ordered!
google avatar

Lea D.

Yelp
When asking a client for some local favorites to check out on my recent work trip to Philly, this was at the top of his list. I wound up having a meeting with him there to check it out. I got a draft latte and it was delicious. The place was pretty large and had a decent selection of coffees and snacks. I found out that there's a location near me in Florida so I might need to check it out!
google avatar

Cherie C.

Yelp
Every La Colombe is a special place. I visit every time I'm back in Philly, and if it's available elsewhere I will seek it out, as I did on a trip to DC. In Denver, all we have is the canned draft latte at Whole Foods, an occasional spendy indulgence that is worth the price. This location has fewer seats and tables than other locations, but I always manage a place to sit and enjoy my drink. They make a good cortado, served in a glass--I won't order an espresso drink if I have to have it in paper. I'm fussy that way. The ceramic mugs for coffee are pretty and make the whole experience a bit more civilized, even elegant. I've always loved that they give you a spoon and a saucer, even for a to-go drink, so that you can add sugar or cream and stir your drink without making a mess. On my most recent trip, I had a drip coffee with a workshop blend from Mexico that was so delicious that I would shudder at the thought of adding cream or sugar. It's a high-end coffee experience with less attitude than some third wave coffee outlets. There are always good pastries too, like delicious canelés.
google avatar

Jada G.

Yelp
Despite there almost always being a line, the staff here have better management skills than most cafes I've been to. I'm always super impressed with how rich their coffee (especially espresso!) is and it's a stark comparison to the drivel I usually put in my body. I actually really love the pastries they have (and kind of wishing I knew where they get them from...). There's something for pretty much everyone and at any time of day. The cheese danish is my favorite but anything flakey and buttery does the job for me. Oh, but if you're around during the fall, -definitely- snatch a Pumpkin Draft Latte (or a case if you're feeling hooked) from the refrigerator for probably the best packaged coffee drink you'll ever have.
google avatar

Sabrina W.

Yelp
It was one of those rainy days where I just needed a solid pastry and pretty latte to sip on. La Colombe was able to meet that need, I mean look at that pic! The latte wasn't super strong in flavor, but it did the trick. This was a smaller location so it's not the ideal place to do work or read, but it's a nice place to stop by for a coffee break while walking around center city!

Sushi L.

Yelp
First time in Philly. Coffee is great customer service from the cashier killed the mood and experience. Parking is tricky tho.
google avatar

Liam M.

Yelp
The coffee's good and all, but it didn't even dawn on me that a flagship cafe run by a large coffee company in the heart of Center City in 2022 wouldn't have Wi-Fi. I feel silly for writing this review, but wifi was kind of the main reason I came here with my laptop...
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
The coffee at this place is quite good, second in my opinion to Blue Bottle in quality (I know, it's a chain, but they have really good coffee). The barista at La Colombe offered me a sample of the draft latte in a cute little express cup, which tasted almost like bitter coffee ice cream - delicious. The regular latte I got had nice subtle flavor too. My complaint is that this place is not great for doing work. Most of the seating does not have backs, the tables are a bit too jumbled to feel peaceful and organized. Great for a place to catch up with someone, not so much to study. Nice view of City Hall across the street!
google avatar

Suji K.

Yelp
I like the atmosphere and energy of this La Columbe - it's usually never too barren nor too packed. The baristas are usually pretty friendly and skilled. It's a fabulous spot for people watching, what being near city hall, too. What else is there to say? It's a Philly favorite. Try their unsweetened hot chocolate or an oat milk latte.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed La Colombe draft lattes in the can so I had been wanting to come here for awhile to taste it for myself. I don't know what I was expecting before arriving but I certainly don't think it was the experience I had. First off the place isn't that big but the front counter area is massive. There's minimal seating and it's all very low and small - a table for 2 rather than larger tables. Most of the tables were taken so I'm assuming it's a pretty popular spot. I didn't know what I wanted and I realized there was no menu on the wall. How do I order then? I've never been here before. I finally see a black card about as big as a 5x7 notecard that had about 10 items listed on it and I was able to order that way. The staff than placed a spoon and a plate in front of me and I just waited not sure if I was supposed to wait there or move to the side ... then a plastic cup was placed in front of me. Why a plastic cup when I was sitting in? Why a plastic cup when I was given a regular plate and a regular spoon. Nonetheless I sat down I found one seat available. The coffee was good but different. I do love their draft lattes they're so smooth and delicious but I got mine with oat milk because I was excited for the option, but it definitely hindered the flavor I'm used to. The staff, which there seemed to be a lot of, wasn't super friendly. They didn't talk to patrons, they seemed almost bothered or bored. One guest spilled his entire coffee and the one woman behind the counter just seemed pissed off. I also don't like the bathroom location because here really isn't anywhere to wait for it as it's so close to the counter and other tables and I had two people cut in front of me to use it. I think this space isn't efficiently designed and I was a little lost while there. I don't like going to places where I question every decision. Do I leave my cup and plate on the table? Do I bring it to the counter? Certain things weren't clear or obvious so I feel like they should be explained because not everyone inherently knows or is a regular that knows.

Yelp
This location serves up the tasty La Colombe coffee and drinks as expected, and with a great view! Stopped in two mornings in a row since I was staying nearby and each day got my usual iced latte with a pastry. La Colombe really makes one of my favorirte iced lattes and most of the time, each location is consistent! For the pastries, went with a beignet & chocolate croissant the first day, then a cinnamon danish. Not sure where the pastries are from, but all are very good and make for great snack. Overall, great location, although the staff wasn't as friendly as other locations I've been to.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Believe this is the first-ever location of La Colombe. Not as awesome as the Fishtown flagship, but still reliable. Chocolate chip cookie was decent and my boyfriend enjoyed his iced coffee. Lots of seating, and water on tap per usual.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Nice ambience. I was worried the location would be better for grab and go items since it was right near busy city hall, but the location is nice for hanging out too. draft lattes are great, I'll only say I finish mine in minutes because it's so good!

Yelp
For the past week, I have been coming here more often rather than a competitor's coffee chain. I have found that I not only crave my freshly brewed Corsica, but that it actually tastes like good coffee! It doesn't upset my stomach but it gives me the perk that I need to get going. I had been frequently going to a competitor with bitter coffee, or the alternatives were other cheap coffee or way overpriced coffee at other places. Corsica has become my sweet spot! It's nice that I usually don't need more than a cup, if I do, I get a refill for .75, but just so you know, they have a $1 minimum. As far as other beverages, I like the herbal Turmeric Iced Tea, which is really good. I have friends who rave about the Black and Tan, and the Iced Chai. I also have found that I really enjoy the Chobani yogurt to start my day with, or if I want a pastry, these pastries are the bomb! I am personally a fan of the scrumptious chocolate chip muffin, but it's big enough for 2 portions, fun to split with someone. The ambiance here is relaxed and chill, friendly baristas, low volume music, which is very nice for a change compared to other coffee shops that seem like dance clubs with the loud music, lol! The tables and chairs are nice to relax at, I often bring my paper or knitting. They do have outdoor seating and they overlook Dilworth Park. I'm a fan! A lot of people love this spot because it often gets busy, with only one line sometimes, but it moves quickly. Nice way to start the day!!! Makes me rethink my morning cup of coffee...
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed their canned draft La Colombe Coffee so naturally I'm a big fan of their fresh brewed coffee. I visited the location near the City Hall on a Friday morning and I can imagine this place becoming very busy during the weekends. There are plenty of seating inside and the place gives off a nice, relaxed vibe. I ordered an Iced Summer Haze, which has hints of candied almonds, malted milkshake, and poached pear. The coffee was delicious and gave off a nice aroma. Nice place to sit down and recharge!
google avatar

Marlyn V.

Yelp
I love this coffee spot, and wish there were more La Colombe spots versus just DD and Starbucks. The price of their coffee is incredibly reasonable and it is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. We have come here several times when in downtown, especially to warm up during Mummer's parades and Christmas Village shopping, and have never been disappointed. I also love that they serve you with real spoons (and real mugs) and explain to you the coffee if you are not familiar. The whole vibe in there is very chill and not rushing you out like a Dunkin or Starbucks. Overall I highly recommend this spot, especially if you are in the area and need to warm up with a delicious cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

Austyn Y.

Yelp
As someone who is very picky about his coffee, I'd highly recommend any of the coffee on draft. No additives needed (sugar, honey, cream, flavors, etc) needed. I also appreciate that they are a a shop that's all about their roasts. Caramel this raspberry that with the sugar syrups. A co-worker got their seasonal Cherry drink yesterday and she said it was immaculate. Two raving reviews from us PNW peeps. Thanks again!!
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
We stopped by here for a quick tea and coffee while walking about and exploring the area. This place has a beautiful view of City Hall, and some prime seating to enjoy people-watching while resting your feet. We were lucky to nab a table since it does get busy. I know it's known for coffee, but having already had a cappuccino that morning, I decided not to push it, and tried some jasmine oolong instead. It was fragrant and delicious. My friend enjoyed his Americano quite a bit, describing it as "full-bodied." I appreciated the interior and vibe of the place, including the cool tables. Everyone working there was very nice. I would enjoy stopping by again when I'm back in the area!

Yelp
Strong, flavorful coffee. A bit on the pricey side, but you can think of it as a treat to get your started.
