Best Mexican Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"One of Mexico’s highly coveted cevicherías made it stateside last year with its first U.S. location in La Jolla. Mirroring its Tijuana, Mexicali, Mexico City, Monterrey, and Tulum menus, the San Diego outpost serves the company’s famed red snapper tostadas, deeply seasoned and fiery shrimp aguachiles, and octopus zarandeado. Diners won’t want to skip the happy hour menu — offered from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday — which includes $7.50 tacos and tostadas, and oysters at $2.50 a pop." - Roxana Becerril

La Jolla’s Best Restaurants and Bars | Eater San Diego

"The well-regarded mariscos restaurant chain with branches in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Mexico City opted to open its first U.S. location in La Jolla. Try the kitchen’s red snapper tostadas, shrimp aguachiles, or octopus zarandeado in a fun-to-take-in dining room — the tropical-leaf-patterned walls and wicker seats give this place an easy Baja California vibe." - Helen I. Getting from Tijuana to Los Angeles I stopped at this cozy cute restaurant where I ordered Tijuana Burito, these were two huge mouth-watering pieces with a cup of coffee. Great taste and cozy atmosphere, perhaps the two most important components of a quiet pastime. And of course, nice and unobtrusive service.

Really really solid place. Been here a dozen times and it never fails. The food is always incredibly fresh, everyone working is so kind, and it’s a cool little unassuming spot for a great meal. Highly recommend.

Chefs kisses to the food and hosts at La Corriente. Best tacos in San Diego. We also loved the complimentary soup and salsas. Amazing!

Great Mexican restaurant in La Jolla. The focus is on seafood and fish. We ordered oysters, grilled octopus and mixed ceviche. Everything was delicious and generous. The octopus was just perfect, tender and crispy, a hard combination to master. The kids also tried the ahi tuna tostada and a shrimp burrito. They were delighted with their choices. Clearly one of the best seafood restaurants we went to in years.

The shrimp burrito was large, and perfectly cooked and seasoned! The oysters were fresh and flavorful! The environment was laid back and perfect for conversation! I will be back here!

We stopped by walking back from the beach just visiting the area for the first time and the hostess was extremely rude, did not make eye contact with us and kept telling us “hold on just a few minutes” which at first it seemed like she had other customers to take care of. We waited until we saw her immediately greet a couple that came in after us, her entire demeanor changed to being extremely friendly and sat them right away so we left. Horrible customer service and overall negative experience - go somewhere else with friendly non biased staff!

Wow, simply amazing. The seafood was so fresh and the red snapper is not just on the tee shirts. We came looking for Ceviche, shrimp tacos, and maybe oysters. The only regret is we didn't have room for the oysters. The owner checked on us at the end, and the bartender is telepathic, can intercept a drink order across the room. If you are in town, looking for fresh and flavor. This is it. Come early if you aren't making a reservation because the word is out and there could be a line. Want a cocktail or a cold beer with some fresh ceviche, this is your afternoon walk in guilty pleasure. Thank you for showing my wife and I such a great time and providing a great experience.

Waiter was new. No problems there. We got there before happy hour ended and was told we could order happy hour but then was told no it expired. When we ordered, we specifically requested our food is put on a separate ticket. When we went to pay, another lady told us they couldn’t separate our ticket. This is what really got us. Liquor can’t go on business accounts! Come on, this is a tourist place with lots of business. After some conflict and a little arguing, she somehow found a way to separate the tickets!! Talk about speaking out both sides of your mouth….
