We didn’t stay at the Fontainebleau Hotel but decided to try La Côte based on good reviews, the location, and the menu photos on Google Reviews. Unfortunately, the first impression wasn’t great - the hostess was very unfriendly, greeting us with complete indifference. The restaurant was almost empty (only 3–4 tables occupied), yet she simply walked us to a table, said “Enjoy” in the same indifferent manner, and left.
Our server was more pleasant and explained some of the menu items. We ordered half a dozen oysters - they were very small, and worse, each one had several shell fragments in each, so you have to eat them very carefully. The chicken kebab was very good; however, the price listed is only for the kebab itself, with no sides included. The tabouleh, which was still interesting to try, the waiter suggested as an accompaniment was an extra $13. Also, the side dish shown in the Google photos (with cucumber salad and rice) is no longer offered.
Another issue was with water service. We were only given a single glass of water at the start and no refills, even though I didn’t order any alcoholic drinks and easily finish two glasses of water during a meal, especially in the heat.
One more downside of dining outside: as soon as you leave your table, birds flock to it looking for leftovers.
Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service, especially the hostess, leaves much to be desired.
