Google
Amazing taqueria. I swing by every time I pass through Fresno. I just heard they have been around 40 years!

Google
And when I spotted the La Elegante Taqueria...Man-O-Man I knew right then and there were I was going to eat! I've heard about this joint before, it was my pal Hector Gonzales Gonzales that said next time you're in town you gotta do 2 things..#1 you come and get me, and #2 we go to La Elegante Taqueria for the best tacos in Fresno! They were Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Google
Food is super super mid, came with salsa in a very small portion asked for more and got ignored by waitress. Kept getting brushed off by waitress, she continued to attend everybody around us except us. Place is super cramped. STINGY WITH EVERYTHING.

Google
This place seems to be a city favorite depending on who you ask. Decided to try it out with all the hype and it isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be in my opinion. These are some pretty pricey tacos I don't know if I would go back. Tortilla seemed to have been sitting on the grill way too long. Staff seems to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Very small place so you will be waiting for a seat if you go around lunch time.

Google
Best tacos in town! Their adobada is the best! I just wish they had more parking, a larger, less cramped location, and were closer to Clovis.

Google
Fresno's shining star for Mexican food. Ordered the Carne Asada taco plate and 2 more tacos for the wife. First off, the portions are very large. The tacos come with an insane amount of meat and are very filling. Now to the flavor. STRAIGHT FIRE. The taste of the food here is too good to be true. Some unique features of the tacos are that they have guacamole salsa as well as the red salsa. The side of rice was exactly what I am looking for. Dine in and enjoy the friendly service or take out. You've gotta try this place!

Google
Low-key traditional street taco style food. In my opinion one of the top taco shops in Fresno. The food is fresh and maintains that authentic mexico taste.

Zosima Tarusin

Google
La Elegante Taqueria serves authentic, flavorful tacos that truly stand out. The casual vibe and quick service make it a great stop for a satisfying meal.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite taco spots in all of Fresno. It's a small place inside, but don't let that fool you. The service is fast and the food is always fresh. Every time I've gone, my order has been out in about 3 to 5 minutes, and the quality has been consistent every single time. The asada is legit; tender, full of flavor, and no fat or gristle to worry about. But the real winner for me is the lengua, especially in a torta. The way they grill the bread is something special and adds a signature touch that really sets it apart. Easily a 5 out of 5 for me. The only thing to note is the price per taco is a little up there, but with how everything's gone up lately, it's to be expected. Still completely worth the drive and wait if you're looking for real, authentic tacos.

Yelp
3/28/25 Getting lunch! 2 Asada Burrito bowls ordered. They do not have chicken. FYI. The worker said it would be ready. I went to pick it up shortly later. Arrived. Greeted. Order ready and received. Paid for it and wished a good day! Appreciated! Small restaurant. Nice. Calm. Clean & safe. They have booths, a bar & table with chairs. Lunchtime! Asada Burrito bowls ordered was DELICIOUS! Lots of flavor and the hot sauce included made it even better! Fresh & tasty!! Mother said hets was REALLY Great!! 1/2 is plenty! Another meal for both of us! Good service & GREAT lunch!! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
For generations, a family favorite for authentic, bold-flavored Mexican food. The tacos, tortas, and burritos prepared at this tiny Chinatown gem are considered some of the best in town. They have been prominently featured on ABC30 Dine and Dish. The Fresno Bee voted them the Best Tacos in the Central Valley for 2024 (and many years that proceed that). Patrons rave about their carne asada (beef steak) tacos, burritos, tortas, menudo on the weekends, and adobada (marinated pork). The menu consists of traditional, simple but very flavorful dishes. Tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, meat plates, and Mexican-style soups are some of the dishes on the menu. The prices are very reasonable. The food comes quickly. The menudo is as good as advertised. The tripe tasted clean and was tender and chewy. The broth was flavorful. They will give you more stacks of tortillas if you ask at no additional cost. The tacos start at $3.23 and are served with guacamole, onions, cilantro, cabbage, and chiles on warm, soft corn tortilla shells. The taco combos come with two tacos, a side of whole (not refried) beans, rice, and sliced cucumbers. Each taco comes with a sliced lemon wedge. You will be charged extra for cheese, $0.75. The adobada was good but I did not love it. I enjoyed the juiciness and flavor of the carne asada more. The salsa is fiery hot, tangy, thick, and has a subtle sweetness. They put just enough on the tacos. Any more and it would be too spicy. Service seemed hurried but this is because they are always so busy. The servers are friendly and attentive. They might need extra time to get back to you. The restaurant is small and seating is limited. It is the most popular lunch spot in Chinatown, so expect long lines and wait times during lunch hours throughout the week. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM - 2 PM. Closed on Sunday and Monday.

Yelp
I've always heard great things about this place but just never had the chance to try it. Their hours are kinda odd. But let me tell you, these are the best tacos in Fresno. Hands down. The usual taco comes with your protein, avocado sauce, red salsa, cabbage, onions, cilantro. They give REAL avocado sauce. Most places just blend squash and try to push it as "avocado salsa," it really gives the tacos something different. They also give cabbage! I love cabbage in my tacos, adds a good crunch and sweetness. And the way they cook their tortillas, they get this nice crust on the outer part. The asada was amazingly seasoned. Everything just worked well together. This place would have gotten 5 stars but I'm not a fan of the beans and rice. I was expecting more of a refried beans and rice but it's really boiled beans and rice. I felt like they lacked a bit of flavor. I also wasn't a fan of the cabeza tacos. I was just expecting more. It was kind of gamey, also kinda lacked flavor as well. BUT regardless, the asada tacos were so good it cancels out everything else, that's how good it is. A definitely must try. I know their hours are odd. But you have to make the trip out.

Yelp
La Elegante was just La Ele-OK for me. I was not impressed. It wasn't bad. But it didn't live up to the hype. I may have ordered wrong? Idk how you can go wrong with tacos at a taco shop. But the other patrons were ordering a wide variety of things off the menu. Maybe I'm just not a fan of my tacos swimming in creamy guac-sauce. I could have done without the sauce altogether. The food seemed to be good quality and well prepared. The seating situation gave me anxiety. So packed, I had to wait outside while waiting for my to-go order. Maybe I'll give it another go someday.

Yelp
Just an FYI, this is based on one visit- My review may change down the road. I finally was able to make it to La Elegante after I have been told by my coworkers and friends that they have the best tacos. I used to live near Clovis and tacos in the south or west side of town are just better. It is in the west side, E and Kern street. Upon arrival, it was very hole in the wall. The tables were filled and there was a line out the door. We decided to eat there sat on the bar stools. Service 3.5/5: It looks like a family run restaurant and hole in the wall, but they were decent and fast. Food 3/5: We got the combo plate for $12 each with one asada taco and one adobada taco and rice and beans on the side. Let me break it down: Tortillas- Tacos came wrapped in two medium size corn tortillas, my tortillas were crunchy, my husband's were not. Made me feel like I was eating a crunchy taco from taco bell and I prefer soft tacos. Beans- Bland, tasted boiled and not refried? Rice- Had cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers. Too much going on and the tomatoes and cucumbers were thrown all over the best part of my meal which was the Al Pastor taco. I like my meals more simple. Tacos with cilantro and onions (I did leave the salsa and guac on my tacos) I prefer my mexican rice and beans with no fuss. Al Pastor- After picking out the tomatoes and cucumbers out of my al pastor taco- It was very good. It is the best al pastor I have had in Fresno. I hated that they covered the best part of my meal with those items. I would have went to Taco Bell if I wanted a crunchy taco with tomatoes. Asada- My asada taco tasted like a cross between a street taco, robertitos and Taco Bell. Not my favorite. The salsa in the tacos were okay. Not as spicy as I liked. Price- With tip and tax, it came to about $35 for lunch for 2. A little steep. Overall- Our spot is Don Tacha because we can get a few simple street tacos and rice and beans for only $13. However, if we had a really bad craving for Al Pastor, we may make it over here. I was just really thrown off with the diced tomatoes and cucumbers all over my food.

Yelp
El chile/salsa que le ponen a la comida, it's delicious!! The service with the young beautiful ladies is exceptional, excellent customer service skills no matter how busy they are. Restaurant managers should swing by and take some notes on how this restaurant treats and welcomes their people! From Gema

Yelp
Delicious & satisfying, time after time. A "destination" restaurant, especially now that highway construction to accommodate the high speed railway makes getting there more challenging. But worth the effort. My go-to order is the Carne Asada Taco Plate. The meat is well-seasoned, lean, tender, sliced into short strips, with thin-sliced cabbage, just the right amount of a spicy salsa-guacamole sauce and contained in doubled soft corn tortillas. The whole beans and rice accompaniments are also yummy. A couple of slices of fresh cucumber give contrast to the savory heat. Taco perfection, IMHO. Other menu items, burritos & quesadillas, are also high-quality, but I'm addicted!

Yelp
I came to ale Elegante Taqueria several times most recently on 2/17/23. The Al pastor tacos are delicious 9/10 (just wish their tortillas would be homemade). But their food is out of this world as for tacos!!! I did ask if the Al Pastor was pork and I was informed it was as they mostly have beef, pork and goat items no chicken. The Al Pastor is my favorite and the goat was pretty good too! I even got the dude a burrito a few days ago. The Al Pastor is hard to believe it's pork!! As it's so juicy, mouth watering delicious!!! They do have dine in but limited seating and counter top seating too! It is small inside and staff is always friendly. A nice homey feel. Catering to Spanish speakers and non Spanish speakers as myself ...I can't ask for more than this place!!! This place is always packed but they whip out orders so quick as they are prepared for the rush. I usually come in close to closing time and today during the rush for the first time I was in and out within minutes. I always tip them really well. My order has always been 100% accurate!!! I am really impressed by this place. Since I'm working in the area now this is my go to spot for tacos :D I'm always craving them!! Parking is a hit or miss but I usually find parking. Overall, this is probably my favorite taco place in Fresno. Two Al Pastor Tacos is $7 which is not bad. They are huge and filling. Did I mention delicious? I can tell this restaurant works hard and take pride in their food 100%. Flavors are addictive and right amount of spice. Overall, I will be back!!! Great service, delicious food and cute inside. Location is perfect too!!!

Yelp
I've been going here for over 15 years now. I first discovered their taco truck with their father, who was so sweet and kind. It wasn't until much later that I discovered their restaurant location. The food is honestly one of a kind and so delicious. The best tacos, burritos, quesadillas, all of it! The service is great and usually pretty quick. The restaurant is small but I can say it's cozy, you definitely feel it's a family restaurant. So glad I live closer again so I can have it more often!
google avatar

Paola L.

Yelp
It's easy to drive past La Elegante as it's a small location in the middle of other businesses but do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a takeout only spot, no eat in. They are however extremely efficient and have your order ready faster than you can scroll through your timeline. I've tried the tacos and the torta, both were so good I didn't get a picture before I started eating. I usually get the asada and adobada. Both are well seasoned. The tacos here are a hearty portion much bigger than most taco trucks. Check them out for a quick lunch in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Best tacos in the entire world...for real though. I've been throughout Mexico and LATAM and this is THE BEST!

Mary M.

Yelp
was going to tamale Mama"s but they were closed so put in Siri closest Mexican restaurant and la elegante came up it's just a little whole n the wall but m glad I found t. I ordered taco comb. the plate presentation was really good. I wish I had taken a picture. The flavor was very satisfying I will come again and bring my daughters for sure. customer service was courteou again I'm saying I will be back.

Yelp
Hands down the best Asada tacos in town. I make the drive just because they are so good. Staff is friendly and service is fast.

Yelp
Some of the best tacos in Fresno! If you didn't know it was there you would drive right past it.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Small storefront that's easy to miss but don't skip it! Their tacos are all delicious and their quesadillas are the best. They're super packed with meat, cheese and rice. I'm a fan of their red salsa. The food comes out pretty quickly considering they are always super busy during the lunch hours.
google avatar

Yelp
We had very tasty carne asada tacos from here... Definitely to-go. Lots of homeless and seedy chracters here. We almost didn't stop... But the food made up for the challenging environement...

Yelp
I been coming here once a month for the past 10yrs. And I will never forget the owner told me they were closed even though I was there 5 min late. And I had brought my nephew that was visiting from NYC and was anxiously waiting to try Fresno Tacos. And I guess I must have had a really sad face because the owner came out after us and asked us what we wanted and we said "Just a couple carne asada tacos." He said "ok, come in". We were so grateful that he did this for us. My nephew was vey happy. We ended up ordering 8 tacos lol. And they were well worth it. Asada was very flavorful. and tender. This particular episode happened 5 yrs ago.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Solid spot in a rough area. Carne asada was solid and adobada was flavorful. Very fast cooking time if you are in a hurry. Not exceptional but won't be disappointed
google avatar

Lorenzo H.

Yelp
Asada tacos are very tasty. Well seasoned. Flavorful. Salsa was spicy but good. Horchata homemade and worth it.
google avatar

Carl T.

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in Fresno. You won't be disappointed with the taste of this food. But be careful it will ruin you. Because the other taco stands won't cut it anymore.
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
This place it's such a hidden gem I've always loved their burritos and tacos. I used to come often when I worked in downtown. It's been three years since the last time I visited this place. I happened to be in downtown and decided to grab some late lunch with my brother. It was about 2:00pm and they were closed :( However, the owner was so kind, he let us in and took our order This is what I appreciate in small businesses..... their service and willingness to make the costumer happy. I wish I had taken pics of my food lol But it was so good I forgot to. De finally 10/10 in both food and costumer service.
google avatar

Whitney G.

Yelp
The outside looks pretty sketch and not typically a place I would've stopped to try, but thanks to all the great reviews and social media posts, I'm so glad I did!!! The service was so fast and food was hot and fresh! I mentioned that it was my first time there and the server even brought me a sample of all the different meats! I will definitely make it a new regular place!

Steve B.

Yelp
Friendly excellent service and delicious assortment of food ! A real find traveling from LA
google avatar

Sareang N.

Yelp
Second times a charm! I tried going to right before Christmas and they were closed, but I was so glad they were opened today! I ordered two asada tacos and a limon agua fresca. Their service was friendly and quick, I did not have to wait too long after ordering for my food. Hands down probably one of the best tacos I've had in town! I'm disappointed that I didn't try them sooner. The tacos are fully loaded, great size and has lots of flavor! The hot sauce that the have on the tacos has a good kick but was amazing! If you can't handle a little heat, I'd recommend having it on the side instead. Looking forward to trying more items on their menu on my next visit.
google avatar

Joel C.

Yelp
I always order the Asada Tacos with everything. Salsa always has a higher kick than most places, so order on the side if you can't handle spice. Agua de Tamarindo is the best one in town for me. Very rich in flavor. Very small place and it's usually packed. I'm not going to sit here and tell you their service is phenomenal, but it works me. They have always treated me Ok, they're just busy all the time so don't expect them to be babying you inside their place.
google avatar

Marisela S.

Yelp
How have I never done a review on this place!!! THE BEST TACOS, hands down. I have been here soo many times I can't even tell you and they are the same every time, if anything the spice maybe be a little spicier or not as spicy, but man they are good. It is not in a great side of town, but something about this street, because Chef Paul's is just down the road and that place is bomb too. I always get the adobada tacos with everything on them and they usually give some lemon wedges and cucumber on the side with extra sauce and it is just mouth watering. We had to go there today for National Taco Day and just amazing. I don't have pics because we literally just opened them and ate LOL
google avatar

Phillip C.

Yelp
Authentic and great tasting food. Staff was friendly service was quick and the horchata was delicious as well. Wasn't familiar with the area but the restaurant was easy to find.

Edith P.

Yelp
This review is based on one time visit. Passing by Fresno and ended up at this taqueria. Overall the food is awesome. So simple yet very tasty. I ordered asada tacos and asked for the meat to be extra crispy. To my surprise the meat was on point. I also really enjoyed the horchata as well. The service was super fast. There was a lady with dark curly hair up on a bun that was very friendly and we loved her service. Now this is why I'm not giving the 5 stars... on the other hand there was this other light curly haired lady with her hair also up on a bun and had a net hair on that was not customer friendly AT ALL. She had a bothered look on her face and her choice of words with other customers were not the best. No smile and she was not inviting BUT hey we are only human and maybe she was just not feeling well or having a bad day, which happens to all of us. In my opinion, it's just vital to be conscious of your customer service especially working in a place like this. This is just my opinion of what I saw today. Many blessings to this business and to all! A smile goes a long way.

Yesenia M.

Yelp
Deliciousness coming from an actual authentic customer. Best Mexican delicacies with authentic flavor, brought my mom here for mother's day and she waxed her plate clean! Superb customer service, very fast and easy to order. They give you your plate literally in 5 minutes (for those that have limited lunch time THIS IS FOR YOU!) Ambience is great, everyone respects eachother!
google avatar

Gabriel C.

Yelp
I've always heard about how good the tacos are here so I decided to come by and grab some tacos. I ordered 4 tacos, 3 asada and 1 adobada with everything on them. It cost $14 for 4 tacos so $3.50 a taco but they were worth the price. These tacos were so damn good I wished I ordered more! I will be coming back again soon.
google avatar

Reg S.

Yelp
There's a reason why there are people outside waiting to get in. The food is Authentic and delicious. Parking can be a problem and because it is a small place with limited seating, get there early.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Could this be the best Mexican food in Fresno (and even in the Valley)? Quite possibly. I absolutely LOVE La Elegante, a cozy Mexican diner located in Fresno's China Town, and you should seriously consider it if you are craving some real, authentic Mexican eats. Here's why I love it: The food: So, so, sooooo yummy! I would say that the real star of La Elegante is their torta, but they also have amazing tacos. The tortas are HUGE, piled high with meat and toppings. I really like the carne asada here, but the adobada (pork) is great too. The torta bread, veggies, and salsa are all fresh and tasty as well (I get mine without cheese). The tacos are also pretty great: they come in a mostly traditional preparation (small corn tortillas, onions, salsa, and cilantro, but with tomatoes added as well). They also make a mean menudo (although I've only sampled it). The drinks: No beer or alcohol, but they have all the essential Mexican non-alcoholic favorites: Coca-Cola de Mexico, aguas frescas in about 5 different flavors (try the piña), and many other cool refreshments. The service and inside: I love the traditional diner feel of this place: you can sit at the counter and watch the master chefs cook up the yummyness, or relax in a booth. The service is fast and efficient (although I did wait for about 5 minutes to pay), and even though the lines can be long, they move people through pretty quickly. The bathroom is very clean, and there is air conditioning. In summary: why aren't you eating here yet?!?

Jen S.

Yelp
I love the food. I am disappointed though because we have been 3 times and they never have short ribs. If you don't have them get them off of the menu. We live in Coarsegold so it's a long drive.
google avatar

Drew M.

Yelp
Worth the wait!! I have been going to Elegante for over 20 years and have NEVER been disappointed by any of the items I've tried on the menu. Don't know if it's the cabbage the guacamole sauce or the salsa but SOMETHING in their tacos keeps me coming back
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Fast service food was good but not better than a block away at Esperanza Cocina, I had to try them cuz I kept hearing they are good. I'll pass from now on.
google avatar

Tamny B.

Yelp
The food is excellent, I love their tacos, they are cooked right in front of you, I love to sit at the counter, the owner & staff are all friendly! It's an authentic Mexican restaurant, one of our favorite

David R.

Yelp
Good tacos The hot sauce is spicy It's busy during lunch but best tacos I've had A+
google avatar

Heaven S.

Yelp
I always come for a torta plate and a extra plain Spanish rice plate and it never disappoints . I atleast come here 4x times a week lol I can't stay away from their food.
google avatar

Marco A.

Yelp
I mean, it's the best Taco in Fresno. Hands down. Been searching Fresno for the best tacos for years, and can't find one that Tops LA Elegante. Simple. The staff is the best. They are kind, attentive and simply throw it down. You gotta be real Fresno just to find the place, but the best tacos in California are in Fresno.
google avatar

INDIRA S.

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant and it's taco truck. Tacos are different from what you are used to. Took me a while to appreciate its authenticity. I have been a customer since the 80's.
google avatar

Ian P.

Yelp
Had 4 tacos with consumé. Birria, cabeza, adobada, and lengua. All very great loved em! Great customer service as well and good happy people all around
google avatar

Ted N.

Yelp
Better than San Diego and Los Angeles combined. Real tacos are at La Elegante in the heart of Californias Central Valley.

Jasmin G.

Yelp
Can you believe that I paid $10 for this oily small burrito. I haven't been here in months I use to praise this place because of their good flavoring tacos but I am upset their prices have risen and then I get this little ass burrito and to top it off this small salsa. I will no longer be coming here. For $10 I can literally go get a whole combo somewhere else. I notice it hasn't been busy like it use to and now I see why. The flavor is there but they are getting real stingy and they rush you for everything

Olivia M.

Yelp
The best tacos in town! Gives Mexican homemade cooking competition. Food Network needs to put it on Drivers Diners and Dive!
google avatar

Gladys V.

Yelp
Best Tacos!!! Amazing customer service and feels homey. Thank you so much Abel!! Carne Asada Tacos
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Absolutely the best taqueria in the Central Valley, hands down. Every item is made ready to eat, without having to add anything extra, with the perfect combination of salsas, fresh ingredients, and different meat choices. Past winner of "Best Taco", and it definitely shows. Their Chile Verde, Birria, Cabeza, and Menudo meals are definitely rivals with best in the Central Valley. Definitely go and see for yourself!
google avatar

Scorpio S.

Yelp
The best Mexican food I have ever had. I got the burrito and although the portion size isn't the best I take quality over quantity. So bomb omnggg
