"The Barrio Logan community suffered a loss when the family-owned and locally loved taco shop ¡Salud! permanently closed its doors last year. The good news is that ¡Salud! fans can now savor the popular tacos that brought fame to the Logan outpost once again by visiting the Becerra family’s new restaurant: La Familia. The new venue replaced a Mexican restaurant formerly known as Tio Leo’s and offers an array of tacos, from classics like carne asada, al pastor, and birria to vegetable and grilled shrimp. The new Mission Gorge location has plenty of high top tables, private booths, and an old-school bar dubbed the Jungle Room for gaining liquid courage with cocktails like the My Time with gin, lemon juice, and elderflower liqueur during karaoke nights on Thursdays. First I just want to say THANK YOU so much Mark!!! I was a little nervous since my little and is so young but Mark was so professional, nice, patient and gentle with my son! Walking in the shop seemed clean and they even had an airplane seat for him. The haircut is perfect and exactly what I expected. We've been coming to this shop for years with the previous owner Marcos.... ever since it was sold last summer my kids have gotten the worst haircuts they've ever had. The guy that cut my oldest sons hair messed up so bad he had to cut all his hair off, and my younger son was only supposed to be lined up in the back since he wanted to grow his hair back out. I would never recommend coming here. This is what $100 gets you

I brought my 1 year old baby to his first haircut to The Familia Barbershop. I was a walk-in and right away I was attended to. I let the guy know it was my baby's first haircut and he pulled up the airplane chair and made him feel comfortable. My baby got fuzzy towards the end, so my baby ended up sitting on my lap. I forgot the guys name, but he was soooo kind and did his best to finish my fuzzy baby's haircut. Overall the customer service was awesome and I would definitely recommend this barbershop! Props to my baby's barber who didn't give up I know it's hard to do your job when a child won't stop moving, but your patience made me feel completely comfortable and I will definitely be back

Had my hair and beard cut here twice, both times by Ayman. Guy does an incredible job. Attention to detail, and really puts in the time and effort to get it right. I drive here all the way from Downtown just to have him cut my hair. Highly recommend to anyone. Affordable and quality, what more could you ask for?!? Thanks Ayman!

Great service! I messaged Marcos early in the morning and asked him if I could walk in last minute. My fault for not making an appointment. At first he gave me times that wouldn't work for me due to a flight I had to catch. He worked it out with one of his barbers. Walked right in and being as I was the only one there I got taken care of in a timely manner. I was also expecting my haircut to be a little pricier since it was an emergency situation but I was surprised with how affordable it was I obviously left a tip. Will definitely be back in the future.

My 12 year old was looking like a shaggy mess. His dad and I have only ever taken him to the barber shops on base, zip-zip, 5 minutes and done. I consulted trusty Yelp to find a barber in our area and chose La Familia because of the great reviews and it was close by. I was immediately impressed with the time they took with each client. When we arrived, both barbers were working on customers, but they didn't rush to get them out of the chair. The barber who cut my son's hair was working on another young man and made sure his hair was perfect before finishing. He made some great suggestions for my son's difficult, double cowlick hair, and both of us loved the final result! Very friendly and professional, worth every penny of the $15 plus tip. My hubby can keep going to the base barbershop if he wants to, but I'm going to keep bringing our son here! Thanks, La Familia!

I took my son (7yo) and Our barber Bao is the man! Great cut and he was easy with the kids. Plus, I've been to several barbershops where they are swearing up a storm, and then on the windows it says "great with kids". These guys are professional - you won't have a bad experience here.

Needed a haircut asap so decided to look for a barber shop on Yelp. Saw that it had 5 stars so I came here. It was a little hidden,in the back corner of the Plaza on 1st and Broadway. The shop is very clean. I will definitely be coming back. I got a Fohawk with a taper on the sides and a beard trim from Marcos.Came out clean! Thanks !

Found this shop a few months ago and I won't go anywhere else to get a cut. The shop is always clean and the barbers are always friendly, the name suits the atmosphere well. Trey is the man that hooks me up and nice with the fades! My hair is super fine and it's really hard for me to find a good consistent shop/barber to go to without having to worry about how my cut is gunna come out, nothing worse than getting a messed up haircut! I'd definitely recommend this place even if you're not in the El Cajon area, I drive from Chula Vista.

The worst haircut I've ever gotten not from the dude name Marcos but from some apprentice chick that had the worst skills I've ever experienced, she not only messed up my hair where I looked bald on top when I clearly told her I'm trying to Let it grow on top, I guess that's what you get when you come into the ghetto, she also overcharged me for a regular haircut $12.00 that's what is on their board , she told me it was $15.00 gave her a $20.00 and asked if I needed change, you don't ask a customer if they need change, you give them their change and wait for your tip. To Marcos, you where cool man and thanks for the welcome into your shop but if you want more customers to stick around I wouldn't give my fresh out of a bad experience from another barbershop to the new inexperienced barbers that want to overcharge at the end for an awful haircut, needless to say wen Home to bald my hair with my own clippers. I mean it looks awful already mind as well!!

I recommend LF barbershop if you're looking for good quality krisp haircuts! Ask for Marcos the owner he's friendly, asks how you exactly want your cut and beard to be done. A lot of other shops charge an arm and a leg but I find their prices affordable. They even offer you a cold drink for free while you wait. Def coming back here again!

Great service! Marco is an outstanding young barber, that knows what he is doing. There's only a few barbers that are good with what they do and he is one of them. Pricing is very reasonable. HIGHLY recommend. They won't disappoint.
