A Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to the Loire Valley | Eater

"You haven’t had goat cheese until you’ve had it in the Loire Valley. From Sainte-Maure to Valençay, Loire goat cheese is famous the world over for its grey ash and irresistible creaminess. The certified organic Le Cabri au Lait farm makes artisanal goat cheese with traditional methods. There, you can experience goat cheese making for yourself. Not only does the farm offer cheese-making workshops, but it also lets you feed the goats and tour the grounds. Guided tours of the farm are available from February to November. You’ll learn the history and production of goat cheese in the region and the cheese-making process, walk through the goat pasture, and taste some yourself. You can also tour the garden, filled with flowers, herbs, and medicinal plants, and there’s a shop on-site where you can buy the farm’s cheese alongside local products like wine, honey, and jam." - Lee Musho

Spent a fantastic half-day experiencing life on a goat farm! We pitched in on daily chores and even got to help make the goat cheese—really fun and informative. Owner speaks very good English. Thanks for the unique and memorable day!

Went during kidding season (late Feb) for the class "La Magie des Naissances des Chevreaux" and had a great time. The host, Claire, was an excellent guide and led a very educational tour. Most other folks on the tour were locals with their kids or grandkids, all of whom (parents/grandparents included) were excited to see the goats and learn about cheesemaking. We were the only English speakers on the tour, but she always took the time to bring us up to speed and take our questions. Hard to say for sure since I don't speak French, but it appeared she did a great job with the kids. And the cheese was good too! Fun for everyone - would definitely recommend.
