LA FLAMA Culver City

First time today, I love it. We love it. We will be back often Everything is amazing. The cecina burrito is HEFTY (I wish they had al pastor but this was a great recommendation from the very friendly staff). Asada torta tasted wonderful. Chorizo quesadilla was everything I needed it to be. The salsa rojo has a smokiness that I'm in love with, Salsa Verde is very flavorful; both salsas are a little thicker (which I LOVE). Menudo on the weekends - thank you, La Flama

Chips we were served were stale. We got the chilequiles con asada and the rice tasted like it was just out the microwave, the chips for the chilequiles were also stale and the asada was dry. The drinks were good, the salsa was good, but overall I wouldn't come here again

This was my second time at La Flama. Loved the food the first time so I had to go back. I was super impressed with the mole chicken plate. The chicken was soft, not rubbery at all. I personally think that if you can cook chicken excellently, you have a pretty good grasp of cooking most meats. Also, they accept CalFresh/EBT for groceries and the prepared entrees. Huge bonus for anyone who has some extra CalFresh dollars to spare!

I have not tried their food but I have gotten meat and other stuff. Their cheese is amazing! The service is good and they have plenty of Mexican items you can’t find anywhere else. One of my favorite places!

Beware, we bought tamales de raja and mole and as I was cutting a piece I noticed a long hair. Unfortunately my partner had already ate one. I called to notify the store and the woman on the phone stated that I would get a refund back however I felt as I was being accused of faking this hair thing. A few minutes later I got a call back from la flama, requesting me to take the tamales back for proof. Lady I have pictures and no need to lie. I’m also in Hollywood which for me it’s out of the way to drive back to Culver City. So make sure you guys check your food 😩

The place is not appealing, but the huevos rancheros are the bomb, so good a bit spicy if you are not used to the heat.

The food was absolutely delicious! The tamales instantly reminded me of my grandma --the masa was perfect. I tried the rajas con queso and the red chicken, both amazing. The micheladas really hit the spot (they're the Tuesday special for only $8!), and the chamoy dulce strips on the side were incredible--so good I took some home. The spicy habanero salsa had a serious kick and paired perfectly with the taquitos and tamales. They also have a charming little market with spices, snacks, dulces, and merchandise. I picked up a super cute bag and wallet while I was there. 10/10 recommend! Very authentic flavors, wonderful service, and such a great overall experience.

La Flamq is a really cool spot on VENICE Boulevard and they kind of do it all is the best I can describe it. But they play good music,there's tons of seating and the service is good. I got the bacon, breakfast torta and it was pretty good. I wish it was like easier and I wish the bacon had more potency because it didn't really seem like it was there but the egg avocado the white mayo great touch great concept. I just wish the flavors were more bold. But it was affordable and good..

I was craving a Breakfast Burrito so I gave La Flama try. I ordered the Breakfast Mexican Burrito. First off the Burrito was on the small side. The Burrito wasn't very flavorful. I had to add salsa for more flavor. Maybe their other Burritos are better than this one and worth a try. But overall I was not impressed at all.

I like supporting independent, locally owned businesses and also like to eat where the locals eat. La Flama is a grocery store, butcher, and restaurant. You order at the cashier and the food is brought out to you. Nothing fancy, just good simple Mexican food. The tacos and black bean paste over Spanish rice were good while I watched fiercely competitive Mexican soccer on the many TVs. Check it out!

I stopped by here for Cinco de Mayo supplies. I have bought Black Mole paste here before and it is excellent, so I picked up some of that. The large corn tortillas were still warm and so soft, my husband opened them the minute I got home. I also bought salsa, which I am excited to try based on the other Yelp reviews. Very helpful and helpful pleasant staff. Just a small market, but excellent quality.

Family owned. Latin food. Gifts. And more. Great staff and nicely arranged products. You would feel the Latin flare by simply entering the place, where greeted with international music.

For the love of God turn down the music! Full blast house and reggaeton so loud you can hear it across the street playing day and night. Will never actually go here out of principle until they stop playing their music obnoxiously loud.

The food is amazing authentically prepared with employees that care for their customers! Jessica specifically was very hospitable and catered to all of our needs, including assuring that members of our party with special dietary needs could still have a great meal.

Duuuude, just try this place and I guarantee you will become a fan. On the really real...just the bean & cheese burritos alone will show you how much care they put into the most basics of basics. --- Graduate up to some Oaxacan style enchiladas and you will be golden. Salsa is off the chain... Service is cool. Chill. If you look like you speak Spanish but don't, you might get some hateration...but never a smaller burrito El jente en la cocina will still represent for you. No worries. Prob the best Oaxacan spot I've had in LA for their actual food. No joke.

Food & service is always good but yesterday I came in a customer asked the chubby cashier for prices & she was telling the customer with attitude . I was disappointed but I still purchased my items hopefully they get better at their customer service.

Ordered through postmates and as you can see there was hardly any meat at all and what meat was there was completely inedible.

Between you and me, I'll bet the savory stewed mole chivo, (goat stew) weekend-only soups like menudo, and Oaxacan tamales with black beans and rice is better than the pizza here. The market is filled with handmade and imported treasures like hand-embroidered quilts, blouses and linens, rattan baskets, clay pottery and old-world culinary items to help you make your own from-scratch food. If you grind your own spices with a mortar and pestle, this place is for you! The fresh fruits, herbs, and vegetables have that fresh-from-the vine appeal. Hand cut meats are bargain priced, marinated or non marinated and very fresh. Real world travelers will love perusing the hard-to-find imported groceries from around the world, such as beloved spicy chilled grasshoppers, rare meats and offal. I love that stuff too! Mermelada de fresa con mezcal (homemade strawberry marmalade with mezcal, salsa chamula (extra spicy!) gelatia de mosaic de vanilla, or smoked tea gelatin with nance, melon and red grapes. Handmade sopes. Fresh chocolate mole, handmade flan, five stars, five , five ! Everyone who works here is super nice. Newcomers will be given a warm welcome. Breakfast is served all day. I love the Huevos Rancheros. Savory stewed tomatoes, sweet onions and chilies on top of over easy eggs, served with creamy black beans, rice and corn tortillas. Anything you order with mole Will be good. Choose a unique fruit drink or real-sugar cane soda, from the cooler, or order a fresh fruit drink from the register. One of my favorite things about this market is the tiny single serving-sized handmade Mexican desserts. I left a few in a friend's fridge. They were gone quick! Delighting a senior citizen pal with easy to eat sweets, and an easy clean up, makes me smile.:) Hidden gem doesn't cut it. This place is better than that. I hope you come here with an open heart ready to find something special, and leave with a new reason to smile!

I live just a couple of blocks away and have wanted to go back there since I bought tamales for New Year's Day. (they were great.) My friends from Texas were in town, and I needed a breakfast place close to fit 5 people and very reasonably priced. These people know Mexican food and everyone loved what they got. "these burritos are HUGE!" Coming from Texas, where everything is huge... I had the Heuvos Rancheros. I had scrambled eggs on a corn tortilla with their signature tomato salsa, rice, and refried black beans. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'll be back. I still dream of their tamales.

First time here today and I just left after waiting over 30 minutes for a simple taco plate. I was the only one inside and the only to-go order and all the staff saw that I was waiting. I gave them the benefit of the doubt before I finally walked up to the counter and asked about my order. The person went to the back to check and it was already put aside. Literally none of the staff approached me or called out my order name. I only stopped in to get a drink I had been looking for and I decided to get some food, but I will not return.

I'm always on the hunt for good hole in the wall spots and this delivered! Love walking into places where you know the food has been prepared with love and homeliness. We got the 3 meat platter and were so full! I liked the chicken and chorizo the best, found the carnitas a little dry. The tortillas were soft and warm, and the beans and rice delicious! Salsa were flavorful and I blame my own spice tolerance for finding them slightly hot. More of this menu to eat, and definitely more of the groceries in this store to explore.

For all your ingredients needs from Oaxaca and food, I recommend La Flama. Both a store and a kitchen with outdoor and indoors seating. I tried their chicken burrito and it was a generous size and good! Asked them if they can add mole inside and they did. Their horchata was homemade and delicious!

La Flama is actually more of a market indoors, despite its appearance as a restaurant on the outside, and the patio with nice seating. Yet, despite operating as a market in its interior, the service is incredibly friendly and just delightful. And there are also a few tables inside at the front of the store, for those not wishing to dine in the covered patio. I ordered their tlayuda, which is a very generous size and comes with one container of milder green tomatillo salsa and a hotter red salsa. More than just the one lonely slice of tomato in the center would have made the dish a more ideal variety of juicy textures with each bite, but as a whole, it was nonetheless still good, with the tortilla base being the most expertly executed part.

Decided to go to the Flama for breakfast. As you walk in there are tables and it's dark like a bar setting. You have to walk all the way into an area that has additional tables and Mexican products like a store. The person in the front asked us to look at the menu and then place order and pay. This place is super fast food casual with yummy food. The portions were big and the service was good. I did see that they sell alcohol beverages too.

By far a great place to go on the go. Been here once and definitely super authentic Oaxaca food, super friendly staff with a perfectly clean seating area good music and they had some copal burning which just perfect for a peaceful environment for a quick meal. Not to forget about the little store inside where you can get plenty of Mexican traditional ingredients.

La flama was such a great experience Translation of La flama is the flame and that's exactly what it is, the food is straight fire. Oaxaca is known food their tasteful foods and that's what you will get coming here. I came to California from Oregon and had to come here because my family is from Oaxaca and had to make sure the flavors are all there and it is highly recommend!! Thanks you to the staff for giving such high customer service!!

I recommend this location. Very unique than any other Mexican restaurant. Inside includes a small store where you can buy fresh produce, coke drinks, small selection of fresh meat, and small selection of canned food, chips, housecleaning supplies and treats. Staff is great and friendly. Good is amazing. I LOVE THE Tlayuda plate. I recommend asking for extra cheese and all the meats. So yummy! I recommend it to share with two people. This is my to go place for anything. From food to any quick household items!

Enjoy the food as well as the merchandise. However the cup material must be upgrade my co-workers and neighbors had the same issue . And is really hot!!!!

I was really uneasy at first since parking was hard to find but I parked at shopping center and ordered the mole plate, the mole itself was mmmmmmmmm so so good. The chicken tho was old hence my three stars The service was very good very nice people, I'm sad I could only give them 3 stars because the place has potential for fresh food I had put 5 stars but I have to be honest because I use yelp a lot to eat

This is a small "hole in the wall" serving up authentic Oaxaca style Mexican food and is also a small grocer. You can stop by and pickup some staples like their black beans oaxaqueños or their home made salsa and tortillas in the store and get some food from the tasty restaurant. They also have imports from Mexico and small housewares. I pick up candy and spices too, basically anything you need from a Mexican grocer. We love to go there for breakfast and have their burritos or huevos rancheros with some cafe de la olla (Mexican sweet cinnamon coffee) served in handcrafted cups and flatware. A great addition to this neighborhood! Give them a try.

Super delicious Mexican food in a convenient location! Stopped for a quick lunch at La Flama and I'm glad we did. I shared an order of carne asada and chorizo tacos with my partner and both of them were very good. They were served nicely plated with limes, chips, and a red and green salsa. Everything was delicious and really flavorful, these tacos were definitely some of the best I've had in LA! They were also very affordable. There is a mini supermarket inside, and covered seating outside with several tables. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and came to check in on us a few times, making sure we had everything to have a pleasant meal. You can tell that this is an establishment that prides itself in its quality of food and service, which are the best kinds of places. I'd definitely recommend La Flama to anyone in the area or traveling from out of town.

Omg. Amazing. Everything here was fantastic. The tacos were some of the best tacos I've had in LA. There's not a huge selection, but you really don't need one because the ones they have are so good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there's a patio in the front where you can eat comfortably. The grocery section is small but well-stocked with all the staples you'd expect from a Mexican grocery. I bought some salsa that turned out to be amazing and I will definitely be coming back for more. Definitely recommend this place!

I don't know much specifically about Oaxacan food but have definitely been here 3x this week since they opened because the food tastes THAT good. La Flama is good for a quick bite but it also has groceries and other imported goods and what looks like meat section in the back if you want to make your own delicious meals at home (but why do that when you can just order it here!) Staff is super friendly, though sometimes hard to hear over the music, sanitation glass and everyone properly following covid protocols and masking up. This is not a bad thing as they're clearly following the appropriate safety measures. Started with the tlayuda, worked our way through the burrito menu, and now we're trying out the tamales. Zerocomplaints just a happy belly all around! Current jam is the bacon bits burrito + avocado but close second are those mole tamales.

Oaxacan food is a must and if you want to try it come here! This place is great! It's like being transported to Oaxaca for real. All the authentic dishes and even doing straight up OG California classic breakfast burritos and taking it to the next level! I don't want to sound like a sellout but the burritos are a must here!!

La Flama! I thought this was like a taco shop lol. Turns out it's much, much more! It's sort of like a Oaxacan bodega vibe? Like they very much serve food, but you can also shop at the grocery, buy tamales to take home, get some paletas, etc. Very cool to check out, especially in the middle of Culver City I think this place is an overlooked gem. It is super hard to park right next to La Flama because it's right off Venice which is a crazy busy street and the side street is always full, but you could possibly try parking across the street in the shopping center? I haven't risked it, though. BUT WHEN YOU DO GET PARKING COME TRY IT OUT. I got a chicken torta and horchata - both were very solid! The salsas that came with the torta were insanely spicy, so I didn't use them but that's good to know for those of you spice fiends out there. I would love to come back and try more of their food. Highly recommend!

i walked here from my apt the other day and it was a great reward at the end of the walk. just came back from cdmx and needed some real food. this place came through. got their chilequiles with carne y pollo mixed and shared a plate with my friend. he got a mango juice, i got cafe de olla and we both got concha too. for the both of us to eat that super full meal was like $21. they take card. there's even a market inside for groceries, spices. frida merch, traditional clothes and some meat for sale.

The environment is awesome friendly staff. Food is really good. I really enjoy going to that restaurant

The service was great and the food was amazing, it felt like home. The chilaquiles were the perfect amount of crunchy, not soggy which I loved! I asked for no meat and they gave me an extra egg :) The yolk was runny, i loved it!! Horchata was also so good, I wish I would've gotten a bigger size. Not pictured, we took two small tubs of Leche Quemada Ice Cream!! It's also a small market inside which I really liked to look at while I waited for my food! :D

I live nearby La Flama, noticed it for the first time driving home the other day, looked up Yelp reviews and decided to drop by two days ago to check it out. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall place with a counter in the back of a small market where they serve Mexican dishes. The workers spoke very little English and I had to resort to my so-so knowledge of Spanish to be understood but surely would have managed if all I had was my phone translator to ask for a fork (tenedor). I ordered a shrimp taco dish. Three were served in small soft corn tortillas but they were stuffed to the point that they were difficult to keep together when held in my hand. Hence, the request for a tenedor. Nevertheless, I do not often write reviews and am giving this place 5 stars because they were incredibly delicious and a perfectly filling quick lunch! With that said, I pretty much only know Cal-Mexican food, since I grew up in LA, and ate my first gringo taco in the 1960s but it is my favorite cuisine and I owned a gringo Mexican joint years ago when I lived abroad, so I don't take writing such reviews, or receiving them, lightly. I live by them and try to discern which ones I can trust as reliable. So, this is my contribution in kind.

Brand new Oaxacan restaurant and grocery. I ordered a tlayuda mixta for lunch, which was delicious. If you've not had tlayuda before, consider eating it here! It's sort of like a pizza-sized tostada, topped with black bean paste, cheese, shredded cabbage, tomato slices, avocado, and meat (optional). With tlayuda mixta you get an assortment of meat; mine included chorizo and tasajo (dried beef strips). Service was friendly and prompt. Give this place a chance!

I hate how everyone always says "world's best" or what have you in these reviews. I haven't travelled enough to say. But I've had a lot of burritos around LA and having just finished my third one from La Flama, I can say it's my favorite. (Pollo with everything, if you're curious.) Just an absolute perfect melding of flavors and generous portion sizes. Fresh chips, excellent salsas. I've also had four of the tacos, they were all great. I want to try everything on the menu now. Courteous staff and food always ready on time for pickup orders. Bonus, they have a grocery selection with lots of good stuff. The baked goods look amazing and are next on my list of things to try.

I've been looking for an authentic Mexican place in this area and have yet to find it until now. Got the chorizo torta and it was delicious. Both the green and red salsas were very flavorful. This place is also a mini market carniceria so I will definitely be back to try their carne.

DELICIOUS: Just finished breakfast with a frien. Both had Huevos à la Mexicana. Great way to start the day. Looking forward to coming back and trying their lunch and dinner entrées.

Oaxacan isn't normally my thing, but the tlayudas come out very quickly and are pretty tasty-- at least to my decidedly not-very-familiar with Oaxacan food taste buds!

This neighborhood Oaxacan grocer/bakery/deli makes the best breakfast burritos I've had on the Westside. They're filling, delicious, full of fresh ingredients, and won't cost you $16 like most of the fancy brunch spots in town. That's all I've had here, but they're worth a whole review on their own!

La comida está riquísima ! I tried barbacoa yesterday abs it was so good! I work down the street from them so we are alway getting food from here! Keep up the good food !
