Hands down the best meals and value in Denton. Queso is the best I've ever had. Super flavorful. Shrimp cocktelle is huge and the best flavor. Ceviche is enough for many. Aztec tacos with before and nopales on blue corn are fine dining quality. Their breakfast are top notch! Love this place.

Google
We came in kareoke night. It’s an ok place. We only tried the birria tacos, they were ok. The salsas are not all that. We also ordered the horchata and Jamaica. A bit sweet. Overall, ok.

Google
Everything about this place is delicious, but the highlight of it all was the menudo, the birria and the golden tacos! The churros and drinks were also amazing. I will come back here to try other things on their menu…

Angelica J.

Google
Authentic, delicious food & drinks! I’ve tried several items on their menu and it’s all been great. One item that we love and you don’t find easily are the Enchiladas Potosinas / Enchiladas estilo Rio Verde. They have a pretty wide selection of dishes to choose from but I’m sure you cannot go wrong with what you pick.

Google
This was my first visit here, but it won't be my last. I ordered the barria tacos, and even though my stomach doesn't agree well with grease at all, I definitely enjoyed every bit of these tacos while I ate them. The salsa (very important thing to me for any Mexican food restaurant) was on point, flavorful and had just enough heat. The meat for the tacos was tender and juicy, could've been shredded a little better so I didnt pull big chunks out at once, but other than that, best barria taco I've had. The broth for dipping was also very flavorful. I had their Jamaica for my beverage and it was great as well. didn't get to try any adult beverages while I was there, but can't wait to go back and try them. Judging by the decor of the place, they have a lot of confidence in their product and I hope they are around for a good long while. Oh and they gave me my chips and salsa as it was my first time visiting. That was very nice of them!!

Google
Reasons for four stars are the chips and salsa are an extra charge and to add insult to injury, the chips came out of a bag. The churros were good. I wish they were fresh made. Fresh churros don't need creme inside and a carmel drizzle. We had quesadillas and tacos. Wow, homemade tortillas. Delicious. Fair prices. Great service.

Karen Chavez was so awesome! She didn't rush us or pressure us to order. She suggested great food and the Food was Delicious! All of it! Her assistant was a sweetheart. The manager Lisa was also very sweet. Thank You Karen Chavez for our great service. Love Selena Quintanilla Perez cousin, YANCEY Quintanilla

Google
This place came highly recommended and unfortunately I was disappointed. We placed an order for the Golden Box. $38 for ten tacos that were missing the onions and cilantro. The tacos were soggy and cold. Thankfully I had made some pickled onions last night so that helped. Typically our go to place for tacos is in Dallas (have yet to find any comparable in the Denton area). I gave the food a two star because my son liked the meat but the birria sauce tasted like straight up grease and beef broth.

Yelp
This is my ISH!! I love La Fondita it's literally my favorite whole in the wall Mexican food in the DFW. The food is always on point and they update the menu and specials almost weekly. I usually stop in and grab a margarita while I wait on my food. The vibes inside are low key but very vibrant and fun. They have Karaoke every Friday and most of the staff will sing songs and they do amazing. If you're looking for a place that has it all good food, great vibes, great service, and great prices then sprint here asap. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We came here for lunch after a friend who loves authentic Mexican food recommended it. Angeles sat us down right away. We ordered the Aztec Taco Plate because it had Nopales (cactus). They were delicious. Angeles made sure our waters were filled. The atmosphere is really neat with a bench to take pictures for Instagram. They even have a bar that you can order drinks from. Over all, the food was delicious. The atmosphere was really cool and was half "hole in the wall" and half "hipster". They did a great job decorating. I will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Excellent every time!! Their green sauce is amazing! I buy 1 jar a week to keep at the house. Cheese enchiladas- my friend and husband insist theirs is the best they have ever had. Great queso and guac is THE BEST!! I tried the margarita trio. All 3 were great. Went back in for seconds for the mango margarita. My sons get the birria tacos and SCARF THEM DOWN!! Stop in. You won't be sad!

Yelp
Everyone in Denton raves about La Fondita, and it's fine for a quick dinner, but not the best Mexican spot in town. The first time was great, but after a few tries, it's been inconsistent. The golden tacos and consommé are good, but the meat's never as tender as you'd hope. The salsas are just okay. Overall, it's fine--nothing special.
google avatar

Rosie O.

Yelp
Everything was De-Lish!!! From the red pozole, gorditas de rajas y queso, queso & frijoles, and lengua. The aguas frescas and Pena (alcoholic beverage) was great as well. I love the decorations and that they had the Cowboys playing on the big screen. Service was courteous and helpful! Definitely recommend if you're looking for authentic Mexican food. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I know this restaurant has many great 5 star reviews so I'll get to to the point. I found this restaurant last week and decided to try them out. The inside is nice, there's a few TVs and one huge one in a karaoke/DJ area. There's a bar inside as well and plenty of seating. Inside the ambience is pretty cool and there are lots of art. This is a good spot for larger parties and to catch a sports event as well. I ordered the kids cheeseburger, 2 beef and chicken enchiladas, the birria tacos and two drinks, a Mama Mangonada Rita and a frozen mango margarita. Kids cheeseburger: My son enjoyed his burger. It was a decent size and came with fries. And was very tasty. Birria Tacos: my wife ate these and she said they were very good she also liked the dip. I tried some and they were flavorful. Enchiladas: my daughter and I didn't like these. I didn't like the texture of the tortilla they were ok thick and a bit in the grainier side. The flavors was average. The beef was just meh and the chicken was below average. The chicken was flavorless. The accompanying sauces and queso was just okay to me. I also felt the rice and redried beans was small for the price. I had came here because I had a craving for enchiladas but I was disappointed. I won't be back because of this. It seems like some of the food is good and some can be hit or miss from my experience and reading some other reviews. Drinks Mama Mangonada Rita - my wife enjoyed this margarita as it's her favorite and it was made well. Mango frozen margarita - I didn't enjoy mine I didn't taste the alcohol and it was too sweet to for me. This was another disappointment me.

Yelp
Yummmm !! We came here HOPING that it was great authentic Mexican food, and it was !! Thank goodness! We just moved to Denton 3 weeks ago and found this place last week and so happy we did. We moved here from San Diego soooo we DEFINITELY have been on the search for GREAT Mexican food. Not Tex-Mex ... stuff. My kids had the Birria taco and they loved them while I had the golden shrimp tacos. Yummmm ! Me and my oldest traded a taco and she wished she got mine. Bwhahaha We had the best horchata that we've had in a long time! The waiter said they're trying a new recipe and they nailed it. Well will definitely be coming again.

Yelp
La Fondita Denton has a large menu with options for everyone. Prices are affordable, the food is good, and the service is great. This is a great spot for a relaxed night out. The Sopes are pretty spectacular, torta is good, and tacos are standard. Definitely give La Fondita a try if you're looking for a new Mexican food spot or just in the area.

Yelp
Great service, food is amazing. Best mexican food in denton. Easily a gorgeous interior, family friendly. 20/10 for me

Darby M.

Yelp
Angeles G took great care of us for our first time in. Very large menu to choose from all great options! Huge portions! All the sauces are delicious especially the green sauce they bring to the table. Didn't know what the happy hour deals were until we got the check and it was at the bottom. $4 cheese cup and $6 margs. Great ambience had football on the tv that's always nice. Hope you go check them out

Yelp
I order from here like once or twice a week I LOVE La Fondita. Authentic Mexican food is my favorite kind of food and I'm very picky about it. Anyway, the people there are so friendly and the food is always great. I've never had a complaint or issue with their service or food. AND, I've ordered from them at least 30-40 times since we've moved to Denton and they've never gotten an order wrong. Also, did you know it's like a party inside? I always order on Door Dash or Uber, but one time I picked up and it was live music (maybe karaoke) and the vibe was so fun. Super great local spot for the best Mexican food, dare I say, in all of DFW! Cheers to the crew at La Fondita, and thanks for always being on the ball!

Jonathan T.

Yelp
Fajitas are great, rice and beans bland. They charge for chips and salsa which is fine but they tasted like store bought chips. Parillada still worth another visit..

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Went on a Friday, first time. Did not know they did karaoke. Waaay too loud for this small of a place. Food was fantastic though. Will be back, just on a different day.

Yelp
Found our new date night place. Great queso, margaritas frozen are outstanding. Staff is full of energy and we always enjoy sitting at the bar. Thank you for making date night fun.

Yelp
Never had La Fondita before today, but I have family that loves this place so we all decided to go and have a to go order. We did the Golden Box since you can get 10 or 20 tacos in one box. Also comes with cilantro, onions, limes, and the beef broth. We also had them add the green salsa. And let me say, this Golden box did not disappoint! The tacos were amazing as well as the broth and salsa. They definitely hit the spot! We also got some cookies to go that had strawberry jelly in the middle of them. A perfect way to get a little sweetness in at the end of your meal. All in all, great food and I hope to try the pozole one weekend soon!

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food restaurant with amazing Menudo, homemade corn tortillas. I haven't tasted anything that wasn't just delicious. Chelse our service very amazing !!
google avatar

Meghan L.

Yelp
I ordered this food through DoorDash, and my dasher kept telling me they wouldn't give him my food. That it had already been picked up. I called the restaurant, and they told me to contact DoorDash. The dasher, and myself both contacted DoorDash. And they said to contact the restaurant!!! I called yet again, and I asked her what was going on. And she pretty much said someone stole my food, and in the middle of me talking, she then hung up! I will NEVER order from here again. Nor will I ever step foot in this restaurant AGAIN. How do you give my food to the wrong person? Waiting an hr for my food, and then I call, and you hang up while I'm still talking.

Yelp
We are from Southern California, with arguably the best Mexican food. La Fondita is the closest thing to home, we have found. It's authentic, hot and delicious EVERY time. Minus one star because the "Al pastor" is NOT authentic and it's not good. Also because they don't keep their onions and cilantro separate for those who don't enjoy cilantro. We eat here constantly and will continue to do so as long as they don't change anything! Every single item we have tried is delicious. I especially love their carnitas. And the red salsa packs a punch but the flavor is amazing.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Very reliable food. I think it's one of the closest restaurants to the ones we ate at in the Rio Grande Valley (though still no botanas!) Carne asada street tacos are delish!

Yelp
I lost count of how many i came here but this is my first on my 5 top favorite, i love going here with my parents, im so picky with my foods but its really cool place !! I actually came last Saturday and i ate enchiladas of chicken with queso sauce, rice & beans and of course can't forget horchata!!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. Their guisos are all to die for - my go to is the guiso de puerco con nopales The service is great! Their servers are friendly and welcoming, always looking out to make sure your dining experience is great. Fridays is karaoke night! If you're a free soul who likes to sing you gotta be there. We definitely eat there more than we like to admit
google avatar

Kelsey T.

Yelp
Food was crazy good, the prices are so great for the portions! Also loooooove the happy hour. My friends and I are absolutely becoming regulars
google avatar

Yelp
such a cool vibe from the time you walk in to meeting the staff. food wad amazing and the staff was so friendly and helpful in helping to decide what to order.

Yelp
This place reminds me of the authentic Mexican food I would have when in Los Angeles, great atmosphere and wonderful service. I will be back.
google avatar

Warner Kimo S.

Yelp
Oh my inflation is why we look for affordable good food. This food is great. They are fresh and delicious. A cut above and the queso fresh.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice, the art work was vibrant. Service was extremely slow despite there being a lot of staff. The bar was very busy. We ordered the queso for an appetizer and it came with chips and salsa. We ordered the Barria taco combo but found out it didn't come with consommé. The waitress suggested a different menu item that was 3 tacos w/cabbage, cilantro, onion, lime and consommé. For an entree, it was not filling as it was only three small tacos. The meat was tender but didn't have much flavor without the consommé, the consommé had a hint of cinnamon but you couldn't taste any of the signature peppers that are typically front and center in Barria tacos. We also tried the elotes, it was made from canned sweet corn but was not very flavorful.
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Updating a few pics after they added into the restaurant. There is a place to sit at the bar and watch a game. Oh, they added a bar. The Juarito wall is super cool.
google avatar

Sir Remi B.

Yelp
This place has wonderful food and a great variety. Something for everyone. This is a 20 minute drive for us and we pass probably 10+ other Mexican joints yet this is the one that ALWAYS SATISFIES. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Back again for another serving of the Golden Tacos, picture included. They are consistently fresh and delicious!!! Glad I drove an hour to come back for more.
google avatar

Jamie D.

Yelp
We love La Fondita! The sour cream chicken enchiladas are the best my husband has ever eaten! I tried the flautas and they were delicious too. Queso, salsa and quacamole are top notch and delicious. Churros for dessert were delicious too. Just go, you won't be sorry or hungry when you leave.
google avatar

Darlene V.

Yelp
We ordered the Birria tacos and the nachos. They were both delicious. Also had the queso that was great too. Highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going here since they opened; they got the best poloźe in town. But everything is good happy to see there growth
google avatar

Yelp
Food is always so fresh and good. Also has the sweetest staff. Green salsa is drinkable!!!

Yelp
What a great place. Great service, great variety on their menu, and the real deal Mexican (not Tex-Mex) food. We've been there twice in one week so for us, that says a lot. Most recently we went on a Friday night and they were doing brisk take out service and all the tables were full. We only waited a few minutes before being sat. They had tons of staff and we met the husband (from San Luis Potosí, Mexico) and wife (from Guanajuato, Mexico) team owners who were hustling all night. It was great to see. We've tried the golden tacos de birria, California burrito, camarones à la diabla, some sopes, and everything was excellent. They serve breakfast tacos all day too! With karaoke on Friday nights and music and dancing on Saturdays, it's a great neighborhood spot. A must visit.

Mike E.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. When we arrive the restaurant was about half full. I ordered the enchilada plate and my wife ordered an egg burrito. The service was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes to get our food - way too long for standard menu selections. Again - they were not very busy. After waiting over 20 minutes I inquired with my waiter who inquired from the kitchen. Customers who had came in after us had already received their food. The kitchen staff was clearly unhappy with our waiter for something he either did or forgot to do and the waiter looked very embarrassed. Not sure if he forgot to put our order in or what happened - he never came back to give us the status. At that point I was ready to walk out. Not only was this taking forever but no-one had the decency to let me know what was going on. My wife talked me into staying so I asked another worker if he could check on our order. This guy actually went into the kitchen so I felt like we were making progress. Finally, still without any kind of update or explanation our food arrived. When I inquired as to what happened he said the enchiladas just took a long time...??? I then asked if I could get a complimentary beverage for the inconvenience of having to wait over 30 minutes for our food. Our waiter said he could not approve it and would need to call the restaurant owner. LOL I felt that he was a lying and I asked him to go ahead and call. Almost immediately a pleasant woman came to the table to ask what was going on to which I recounted our saga. She too denied the free beverage. Unbelievable. I understand that the restaurant has the right to deny these kinds of requests but it seems like it would have made more sense to spend a few cents on a soda to appease a customer that had a justifiable complaint about the lengthy wait than to lie to him, lose him for life and have him share his bad experience with others. As I told them, I will not return. So the moral of the story - don't order the enchiladas??? And if they can't handle this order when they don't have many customers I would definitely think twice about going if they are busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Great chips and salsa. Fajitas were perfect. Can't wait to try the ceviche and sopes.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant has very good authentic Mexican food. The actual establishment is very clean and their decor is very nice. Friendly staff and great food at reasonable prices!

Mendy P.

Yelp
My family an I decided to try this place as it was recon on Nextdoor. The food was average/bad. All the rave about the Golden Tacos are not good at all. The rest of my family said they wouldn't come back that their food was not all that good either. Then to top it off they had 1 server for the entire place so getting something was next to impossible. I would not recommend going here.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Love this place ao much! They serve both traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Their salsas are housemade and delicious! Perfect neighborhood place to get wonderful, inexpensive food

Yelp
Yeah, I can't believe it either. A strip mall joint serving up some amazing, local Mexican food?! It's a small place, just a few tables inside, but when you call for takeout, it's ready in the 10 minutes I get there. That's just enough time for me to grab a Jarritos Tamarindo Mexican soda from the cooler. The owner was packing up my food so I didn't stop to check it. We ordered queso, chips & salsa and guacamole. I had the Camarones a la diabla (spicy shrimp) that came with 3 handmade flour tortillas, rice and lettuce with pico. My hubby ordered the build your own burrito with grilled shrimp, rice, beans, fully loaded with extra sour cream. I raced home to unload two bags of chips, two containers of homemade salsa, guacamole and everything else. The shrimp are not small and my hubby couldn't finish one half of the burrito. We determined we could've split either dish but equally determined to polish it off. I opened my container up. Totally delighted as the shrimp were swimming in a promising spicy sauce - as advertised - and removed all the tails. In retrospect, we did not need to order salsa or guac. I shoved that in the fridge for a snack later. We both like spice and the diabla dish did not disappoint. I ended up eating all 3 tortillas. Loaded with shrimp, rice and the lettuce mix to cool things off. The rice is delicious on it's own but I did not waste any sauce. It is considerably cheaper than going out to a restaurant and adding margaritas to the mix! I can't wait to try the weekend options for posole but it will be hard to pass up the diabla for sure. Well, what are you waiting for? Go there. Get some. Life is too short to eat boring food!

Yelp
Great place to eat. I love the idea that you pick your own table. Each Table has a number so after you enjoy a great meal you do not have to wait for the waiter or waitress to give you your check. Just walk up to the counter tell them your number and pay the bill. Now with the food. I ordered the Chip and Salsa. very good and plenty. For my entree I ordered 3 street tacos 2 al pastor and 1 Chicken. Comes with Meat, cilantro and onions only. Freshly made and plenty of meat in each Taco. My wife ordered 1 shrimp quesadilla and 1 chicken quesadilla. Both very large and nice mixture of meat and cheese. I forgot to mention that with the street tacos they bring out a bottle of red salsa and Green Salsa. The red salsa was my favorite. has a good spice to it. Now we go once a week. It's a must try.

Yelp
My friend who loves authentic Mexican food recommended the restaurant and it will be our go to place now. The server was great. I got the special last night and it melted in my mouth. Everyone in my party saw how great it looked and there was so much food everyone got to taste it and I still was stuffed when I left. Their plates were clean when we left so they liked it too. My daughter in laws family loves Mexican too and she said two thumbs up when we left. I love that it is a strip mall place that is a hidden gem. The drinks were great too. I love that they make their own corn tortillas. So, if you are used to store bought or other places you may not be familiar with the texture or thickness. But that just adds to the authenticity. I am looking forward to going again and maybe on a night they have music. I heard that is fun. Kudos to the whole team. You make the dream work.

Yelp
La Fondita has become my favorite Mexican restaurant. I've tried quite a few dishes, they have so many good dishes. Their regular tacos are great, the golden tacos has become my favorite lately. Their tortas are good as well. They have an unusual pork stew that I haven't seen elsewhere which is so good. On weekends they have very good different specials that they seem to alternate like Molcajeton, carne asada especial etc etc. The only dish I haven't liked as much is chilaquiles but to be fair, I'm picky and I haven't found any place in Texas that had a chilaquiles dish that I liked. Their service is always good and consistent. They have constantly improved it, the restaurant has nice decor now. It's a solid five star restaurant in my book.

Yelp
Great hidden gem of authentic Mexican food! Loved the decor and setting, and the food was delicious! Fantastic staff, and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Food is epic in taste and amount. Always great and never disappoints. The nachos come in a pizza box and birria tacos are the best

Yelp
Man, I needed a quick bite at about lunchtime and looked up La Fondita. Boy, am I glad I did! I had the three enchiladas for 9.99. They were stuffed full of beef (not ground) in corn tortillas and I ordered the chili sauce on top. They also have sour cream or queso. It was really, really good. And the salsa verde they serve is nice and spicy and good! It was served with a good portion each of refrieds and Mexican rice. Good food and a good value!

Jaan H.

Yelp
Atmosphere was very fun. Interesting wall designs with lights on Mexican sodas, decorations and artwork. Food was a lot more than we expected and was delicious. Fun place

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and the food and margaritas are great! Authentic Mexican food! Love the ceviche tower and the mango margaritasI'm positive I'll be a regular!

Yelp
Not too bad at all authentic Mexican food.. we tried the steak tacos the quesadilla and the house special that night - the chips and salsa are so great they do however charge for chips and salsa unless your order the queso which we did and the queso was great also! I didn't care for the steak quesadillas or tacos they had an odd taste to me.. the rice and beans were not too bad at all and the tortillas was outstanding! Homemade and so good we ordered a dozen to take home.. Service was fabulous. My husband says the flan was very good although I don't eat so cant speak personally.. Not a fancy place .. I found the prices to be a bit high compared to others in the area that are similar .. I'm going to try it again to re review the steak..
