Yelp
TLDR; a good fromagerie to get some cheese along with some meats/fruits from other shops and have yourself a picnic and champ de mars. i recommend having an idea of what cheese you want to purchase, or at least the type, because the employee seemed impatient with us while we were deciding.
my friend and i decided to walk down rue cler to pick up food for our quintessential eiffel tower picnic. we ended up purchasing two types of cheese for our lunch, as well as some meats, quiche, and grapes from other shops (see my other reviews).
// store, service //
this shop seems to be widely regarded as the main fromagerie in the area. they have a wide assortment of cheeses to choose from. i am not too knowledgeable when it comes to cheese, so i cannot compare prices with other shops, but the cheese seemed to be good quality.
we wanted to get recommendations from an employee since we weren't sure what would go best with our meats and grapes. the employee who helped us said comte was the most popular french cheese and gave us a small sample. when you decide what you want, you guide the employee to cut a desired portion and then pay for it. we asked for other recommendations, but the employee was fairly impatient with us and said he didn't know what to tell us. it felt like he was also rushing us to pick and order something, which was not the best feeling (it honestly rushed us in ordering less, whereas if he treated us better we would have ordered more). maybe it's because the language barrier or we were clearly tourists, but he seemed irritated that we asked him for recommendations.
// comte and brie cheese //
we ended up getting a slice of comte and a slice of brie. the comte is sweet (easy to slice) and we really liked it with our baguette and meats. the brie was creamier (easy to spread on bread). two small slices came out to around 3-4 euros.
