It doesn't get any hipper than this new cultural space located in a renovated theater. From exhibitions devoted to digital monsters and skateboard culture to concerts by indie bands like Stephen Malkmus and the Jinks, this is just about the coolest venue in town.
Everything is super high-tech and modern but the space still retains its old gilded glamor. I recently saw ex-Pavement frontman Malkmus play, and while the concert was far from memorable I absolutely adored the concert hall with its super acoustics, clean, visible stage, great lighting and easy access.
The whole experience, from the welcome at the entrance, beautiful bar area and organized coat check that wasn't a chaos scene like most places after the show, made going out to a rock show seems all rather civilized. Just a tad more grit would have made it a bit less bizarre. In five years, it should be just perfect.
