Trendy Mexican restaurant serving tacos and other comfort eats, plus live music, and a bar next door.
"The wildly popular taco truck is now open at its new digs, outside the Aloha Club bar in the heart of the Fruitvale district. Its claim to fame was as one of the first spots in Oakland to offer quesabirria tacos, but also its menu packed with other crowdpleasers: seafood items like ceviches and aguachiles, loaded baked potatoes, and giant, quesadilla-like “pizza mulas,” which you can also get stuffed with birria if you like. The truck is currently open Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Call in, walk up, or get delivery via DoorDash. If you order food, the Aloha Club patio is also open for outdoor seating." - Luke Tsai
"If you want birria on, well, everything, hit up La Grana Fish. The taco trailer parked behind the Aloha Club in Oakland’s Fruitvale makes everything from crispy birria tacos with ramen to delicious birra vampiros to a pizza mula de birria, which is basically a giant birria-filled quesadilla you need in your life this second. If you want a quesataco but with other proteins, you can request asada, chicken, and shrimp." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"The wildly popular taco truck is now open at its new digs, outside the Aloha Club bar in the heart of the Fruitvale district. The source of customers’ enthusiasm has mostly to do with La Grana’s quesabirria (it was one of the first spots in Oakland to offer the cheesy, consomé-soaked birria tacos), but also its menu packed with other crowdpleasers: seafood items like ceviches and aguachiles, oversized “pizza mulas,” and a lineup of loaded baked potatoes. The truck is currently open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. If you order food, the Aloha Club patio is also open for outdoor seating." - Luke Tsai, Janelle Bitker
"La Grana Fish recently found a new home behind The Aloha Club in Oakland’s Fruitvale, complete with plenty of picnic tables and outdoor seating. And if you’re in search of a great fish taco (we always are), get here now. They’re light and crispy, and feature a red onion slaw and a mild chipotle aioli. But if fish tacos aren’t your scene, they also have vampiro tacos, tostadas, and a fantastic quesabirria, which you can get filled with nearly any type of meat." - Lani Conway
"Newly embedded in its new spot adjacent to the Aloha Club bar, one of Oakland’s most popular taco trucks is now slinging quesabirria in the heart of Fruitvale — on weekends only for now, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also on the menu: loaded baked potatoes and assorted seafood tacos. Call in, line up (with six-foot social distancing), or order delivery via DoorDash." - Luke Tsai
