La Grande Orange Cafe Review - Pasadena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Le Grande Orange Cafe isn’t the most memorable meal in town - or even in the fully functioning train platform it’s located in (that honor goes to its neighbor, Luggage Room Pizzeria) - but it is one of the only places within a 10-mile radius that has a very reasonable corkage fee. And sometimes, that’s all you need." - Kat Hong

I’m glad they have this spot at the airport! I’ve been to their location in Phoenix before, and their pizza and coffee are always good. This time, I grabbed a sandwich, and it was really good fresh and flavorful. A great option for a quick and tasty bite while traveling.

Google
For airport food, I give this pizza 5 stars, it a fresh wooden baked pizza. Took it and ate in the air. Yummy 😋

Google
Price does match quality. $18 for a BLT with guacamole and maybe there was a hint of green to the bread that they were calling guacamole.

We had a great experience here. While on a layover, we decided to grab a latte and some cookies to stay awake. The cashier older lady was tired so she was a bit moody but then she cheered up after asking how she was doing :) it might have been a long day for her. She made our lattes which tasted super good. They also have pizza and other drinks so maybe on a future layover we’ll check this place out again!

I had a short connection at PHX and this is one of the restaurants/ grocers available in terminal D. I picked out a pretty standard looking turkey sandwich from the grocery side and a 20oz Sprite to quickly enjoy before my flight. There were employees all over the place, but not a single one said anything to the three customers standing in the area waiting to be helped. I finally observed a self-checkout and was finally greeted upon approach directing me how to check out my items (no big deal). When I scanned the sandwich, they wanted $19.99 for it. I think a slight increase is expected in the airport, but charging three times what that sandwich is worth is ridiculous. I chose not to purchase the item and got a similar sandwich across the terminal for $12.99 from a competitor. Ultimately, this is a free market and they can do as they please within the constraints of the law, but gouging customers is not going to do you any favors as a business long term.

Google
Flavorless food, expensive, and unfriendly staff. She acted like if she was upset. My eggs had nothing, no salt or pepper available. They charged more than twice of the percentage I chose for tip. I ordered scrambled eggs with fruit (look at the depressing photo of my breakfast).

Waited in the long long and bought soup, only to be told at the pickup spot that they have no soup. Back to the long line. They didn't have my second choice either. Prices are also the usual level of airport insanity, my $29 turkey wrap is the saddest thing I've ever seen. Don't bother waiting in line for salad, the only salad they have is in the chiller case and you can self checkout for that. 🤯

I don't have a lot of dining experience at this airport and the overpriced menu items are a huge factor! However, desperate and having no choice, I made a decision to treat myself to a meal before my flight. This restaurant was conveniently located right next to my gate and, pressed for time, they had major crowds crowds of customers shuffling in and out but I took a chance! One side of this walk-in, order, grab and go had wood-fired pizzas (very thin crust in two kinds only for $15 each no drink, no sides) and on the other side was a very small, simple menu of burgers, sandwiches, even some breakfast items. Ingredients were fresh, and sounded delicious as I quickly skimmed through, plus it was more food for about the same price of one 10" thin pizza. I settled for the California Burger cooked to order, aioli sauce that was the star if the meal, tomatoes, lettuce, fresh slices of avocado, melted cheese, and mayo. The burger was perfected exactly to my liking, bun was warm, fresh ingredients, and it came with fries which were very good! I like mine crisp on the outside, light not dense, and softer in the middle, they were hot, not too salty so I added a little. The meal was to take 10 minutes, it only took 7-yes, I timed it due to my flight boarding very soon! I was lucky to snag a table to sit-good luck with this, it's super crowded! For $15, it was not a bad deal and I actually went back to the place again but ordered a breakfast sandwich (sandwich commuter with fresh egg, avocado, sweet mayo sauce, tomato, lettuce and I had to order fries but still about $16!) It was even better! They offer bottled sodas, water, etc for $3 each-I grab one of these so all in all less than $20. For the airport, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
This is at airport location, bought a simple cappuccino to drink before flight. I had 30 min After waiting almost 10 minutes while there where is was no line, then got the drink super hot, boiling hot , after sitting by gate, being 3rd group to board this expensive drink is not drinkable yet !!! Waste of money and time. Don't get your coffee here.

Yelp
I just wanted to take a moment to recognize Milo who went above and beyond to make sure my order was exactly as I wanted it. Appreciated the outside of the box thinking for my special order sandwich and how she adopted my nice espresso to the perfect consistency with mocha and a squash and on fat milk. Great customer service. While service was 5 stars, I do feel sandwich was overpriced ($20) and the bread was cold and hard to dig into unfortunately.

Yelp
Off to vaca, needed some food before the flight. Of course over priced airport food. Ordered California burger which came with fries. Order comes with fries which was soggy... . Burger is fresh made to order which was nice. Burger itself was not too bad. Definitely not worth the price for what you get. If the burger and fries were around $8 I would have been happy. I would save my money and pass this place next time. Staffs were very friendly which was good.

Yelp
I have heard about La Grande Orange from a lot of friends and finally made it in this past weekend. The store is set up like a grocery store when you walk in, but also has a dine in area, coffee bar, and counter where you can order all of your food at. We had the Kale & Quinoa salad which was very refreshing and had an excellent texture to it. The Kale/Quinoa & Sunflower seeds gave it the perfect crunch. I was excited to try their pizza as I have seen some great reviews and didn't believe for myself that the pizza would live up to the hype. It was amazing, and the crust was delicious too. If there was a little less grease on the pizza I would say 10/10!! I am excited to try some of their other fresh food and the coffee bar as well.

Yelp
Karen was delightful. This is the 2nd time we have had her as our waitress/bartender. She was sweet and customer service was out of this world. She made our trip start with great energy!! She is the glue that keeps D gate together!

Yelp
What a disappointing sandwich. I got this turkey and cheese sandwich with avocado. For 19 bucks, I expected better. It has avocado but it was dark. The lettuce was fresh though but it didn't have much mayo. I was bummed with the quality of this sandwich. Wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
Decided to stop here with my wife as we waited for our flight. Two burgers, two sodas and a cookie came to about 57 bucks. Burgers alone were over 19 each. Not worth the price at all. Burgers were decent at best.. we both got the California burger which outside of the Avacado.. regular cheeseburgers with lettuce, onion and tomato. Walk a little further and there are much better options at a cheaper price point.

Yelp
Order taker asked for tip even though this is to go only (no service). Food took 30 minutes to make. Part of it sat on the counter so it was cold spring that time. Commuter sandwich was unseasoned, but that's just how it is. Croque madame was great, but it was cold from waiting. The wait time here doesn't make sense.

Yelp
Late this afternoon I realized I wanted eggs -- not just any eggs, the delicious French cheesey eggs here at La Grande Orange. I already know how to cook eggs but these eggs are to die for. 5pm is the egg deadline here. Result: PERFECTION. NOW: to get these eggs the same way, order the eggs with a little extra cheese, not too much. Maybe add the Schriener's chicken sausage to be STIRRED IN WITH THE EGGS. Eat them while piping hot. With cottage cheese. That's me. I like the cold Desert? Up to you. Quite simply, there is not a bad choice in the house.

Yelp
Still loving this place. Stop by any time we're at sky harbor. A lemonade and pepperoni pizza were $22. Have really good memories of LGO. My friends and I loved it when we lived in Arcadia.
google avatar

Nate A.

Yelp
I've begun to make it a point to allow an extra 30 minutes or so onto my travel itinerary so I can stop here whenever I fly in and out of terminal 4. While I can't speak to how it compares to the actual LGO in Arcadia since I've never been to that location, the pizza quality is superb and better than most airport fare. The gladiator pizza rivals several of the thin crust styles I enjoy and for an airport the price point is competitive. Good service and a nice bar area to sit in makes traveling a lot less stressful when stopping here.

Yelp
Decent airport food. Pepperoni pizza was very salty (which may be what you like). It was cheesy and huge pieces of pepperoni over a very thin crust covered with cheese. 3.5 stars. Chicken Caesar salad: romaine lettuce was fresh and sweet. Too much Parmesan and chicken pieces (some of you may like this). Dressing was good. I wished they offered it with or without chicken because I ended up throwing most of the chicken away.

Yelp
Stopped at La Grande Orange to get something to eat while waiting for my flight from PHX to LAS. Got a pepperoni pizza. Or what THEY call a pepperoni pizza. What I got was a thin sheet of dough paper with hardly any sauce, hardly any cheese and ONE "big" pepperoni. It was more like a half pepperoni and half cheese. Of course, since I took it, I couldn't exactly trade it for another one. Not that I had high hopes for the other one to look any better. When I inquired if that was what they call a "pepperoni pizza" the girl ringing me up was like, "well... there's a pepperoni on it." I rolled my eyes at her and she kind of chuckled and shrugged her shoulders. 3 of the slices didn't even have ANY PIECE of the pepperoni on it!‍ AND IT WAS $20!!! I get it, I'm buying a pizza at the airport. I'm going to over pay. But dang.... Would NEVER buy anything here again!

Yelp
For being one of the friendliest airports we didn't feel very welcomed when we joined a family member to eat our food at La Grande Orange. We had some family order food from LGO and others from Chick-fil-A, when an employee told us that it wasn't a public eating space and we couldn't eat our Chick-fil-A in the eating area. No other airport employee had issue or mentioned it wasn't allowed. There was also no sign entering the restaurant stating that we could not come in to sit down to eat with other food. Furthermore, she was rude about the whole thing. The store ID was PHXLG001. If there was a zero for a rating I would have used that.
google avatar

Rodolfo A.

Yelp
The service was good but the cost to food ratio is not. I ordered the California burger. Patty was bland, bread was a bit dry. I had to add some ketchup on the burger to give it some taste. The frys were over salted. As I am eating my burger I hear an announcement about the great food sold at the airport. Not the burgers at this place.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
The service was so rude and unhelpful. Anywhere else other than the captured audience at the airport would have fired the guy. One lady had a line out of the store and if more than 2 people were in his line, he sent them over to hers. I'll walk to another terminal before giving $ to LGO
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Sunday AM. They were understaffed and underperforming. Really....30 minutes for a latte?! They're lucky there is no competition in this part of PHX Skyharbor.

Yelp
Usually when I eat at airports, my expectation are never set too high but Le Grande Orange was just disappointing. I was flying out of Phoenix and needed some food and this was one of the better looking spots near my gate. I came with two friends and we ordered by going up to the counter and placing the order. - Ricky Martin Breakfast Burrito The quality of the burrito and contents were quite mid. The burrito consisted of egg, tomato, cheddar, jalapeño, lettuce, mayo, and Spanish chorizo. Two things particularly stood out: 1) the eggs were over cooked and 2) there was pepperoni in my burrito? Maybe they ran out of chorizo and stuffed it with pepperoni instead, as they do also sell pizza. Anyways, this was odd and through off the whole flavor and just wasn't that appealing. When you order, you're instructed that your order will be called out once it's ready. We sat down at a table by the front while we waited for our orders and after almost 20 min, we went to investigate as it seemed it shouldn't have taken that long. We got to the counter to find that our order was never called out and that our food had been sitting for about 10 min, which also made it less warm.

Yelp
I understand that airport restaurants are not cheap, ever. However, this place manages to make the situation even worse. Tiny, low quality, not great tasting sandwiches, without even a side! I don't think that buying potatoes and making fries, or making cole slaw is going to bankrupt your business, FFS. I left feeling like I paid for an extremely expensive snack, not even a full lunch, and I live in San Francisco. Seriously, improve those sandwiches and add a side or two, people might not be happy, but at least they won't be pissed off and motivated enough to leave a bad review.

Yelp
The food was familiar and completely comfort food with all the right textures and familiar flavors! The staff was friendly and quick and I really enjoyed the environment!!

Yelp
Roasted Corn pizza was delicious! We'd never had corn on pizza before and it was great. The service was thoughtful and quick as well! Enough to share with two ppl three slices a person.

Yelp
Something that surprised me about this place is that with a name like La Grande Orange, I expected some specialty orange juice beverages. There was none of that. I ordered a turkey wrap which cost $19.54. While the meal was good, it was too expensive for what I got.
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
This place has the right formula. First off, they have a huge menu and multiple types of cuisines. Everything from salads to burgers to pizza to ice cream to baked goods. The line also moves very fast. The chicken caesar was just OK, the chicken was on the dry side. However, the gluten-free walnut cookie...it's the real deal. Super good! I am making a stop here every time I pass through here just for the cookie.

Melina K.

Yelp
Service was prompt, fun and friendly. Price was extremely fair. Doug and Karen have always made us feel welcome. We highly recommend this airport bar/restaurant

Yelp
We were looking for food at the airport and this seemed like the best option. There was a long line and a small menu of things you can order. They warn you if you order anything off the menu it will take at least 15 minutes. We were going to get a burger, but they would only cook it medium well or well done so we didn't. We ended up just grabbing two pepperoni pizzas that were already made. They have them sitting under a heater, but it's so busy that they were just put out. Of course it's expensive since it's at the airport. It was almost $20 for a personal size pizza. It looked pretty good, but they didn't put any sauce on it. Like literally no sauce on either pizza. It was just a cheese and pepperoni flat bread and it really needed sauce. It has potential if they would actually put sauce on it. We should have stuck with McDonald's.

Yelp
LGO is my absolute favorite place to grab a pizza and a salad. I have eaten here every weekend for the last nine months, it's always been good, but it satisfies all my pregnancy cravings. I love the atmosphere and the shop always has something fun.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Stopped here before my flight for some much needed caffeine. The bar was open and the bartender was super friendly! He made our time pass quick waiting for our flight. My coffee was good and the food the others ordered was tasty. I would definitely stop in again!

Yelp
Good service + margherita pizza - - - - - - - - Our daughter and I visited San Jose, CA, and the Bay area one mid-October weekend. We had a good time. We flew home San Jose (SJC) to Phoenix (PHX) to St. Louis (STL) We need something simple for dinner and La Grande Orange provided that... with very good service. The margherita pizza was hot from the oven and taste and filling. Thank you, La Grande Orange, PHX. ----- ----- -----

Yelp
Breakfast eggs n toast below anyone's standards even Waffle House. We waited a half hour for coffee drinks Service by counter staff no good. The one good thing was the lady working the register. She gets an A
google avatar

Yelp
This place is very fast and efficient. The employees here seem very happy. But the all cheese pizza we ordered here is hella nasty. Very plain, ranch was plain and the dough was chewy. There is really not much to say about airport pizza but I've had waaay better one in hawaii. Doesn't matter anyways. I'll probably never come back.
google avatar

Alexis V.

Yelp
My favorite spot for a gourmet burger. My boyfriend and i chow down every time. I love the different parts of LGO, the cake shop, the bar, the pizzeria, the coffee shop, gelato shop and gift shop!!! been coming here for years.
google avatar

Michele B.

Yelp
Flying out and needed something quick Walked the airport and stumbled upon this lil spot Pizza to order and Margarita made fresh I was impressed Definitely would recommend Not too pricy either
google avatar

Gary S.

Yelp
Perhaps the worst pizza on earth. Burning hot. Nothing sticks to base. Pepperoni good by itself. Could not pay for gelato and go back for it after the pizza.

Matt V.

Yelp
$20 for a "Stacked" turkey sandwich even at an airport is highway robbery. This sandwich was 2 pieces of bread, 2 meager slices of turkey, a little avocado and a stack of iceberg lettuce.
google avatar

Kenny M.

Yelp
It was expensive for a simple charred pizza, but that is the norm at any airport. It actually was better than some other pizza's at "real pizzerias" The staff was professional and efficient despite it having been a dinner rush.
google avatar

Cyndi T.

Yelp
Delayed flight so had 4 hour layover at Phoenix airport with hungry kids. Pizza had just been put in self serve area so got a Pepperoni pizza, Gladiator Pizza, and a cheese pizza. Also picked up a Kale and Quinoa Salad with added chicken At first my daughter thought there were only 4 pieces of pepperoni on her pizza, but found out the rest were under the cheese. The pizzas had good chewy crusts from the wood fire oven. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the salad was. There were big chunks of chicken and the citrus dressing went well with the kale, quinoa, and grapes. Yes airport food is pricey, but this was better than expected. Service was prompt and courteous.
google avatar

Daysi G.

Yelp
This was a lunch time for us before our flight. Of course they were a lot of people trying to get lunch on the side of the terminal. Actually every time I've traveled there's been tons and tons of people at every restaurant no matter where you go on the terminals so I wasn't surprised when I realized how busy this location was. But we were able to get everything we wanted and everything was delicious and I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Nancy S.

Yelp
Note: they don't open for food service until 6:30 am. But they do have grab and go and coffee and lattes starting at 5:00! Blueberry muffin, honey latte and ice cold water works for this early morning traveler!!! Location is convenient for gates D1-8.
google avatar

Georgina E.

Yelp
The Ricky Martin burrito was ok. I wouldn't order it again. It comes with "pepperoni-style" chorizo, so, it's not mixed with the egg. The latte was made well, frothy milk and very hot. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the options there are. There's even a bar open at 10am. I can't try them all, but collectively we will. Enjoy

Lauren ..

Yelp
$24 for a small soggy and bland burger. friend ordered pizza and said it was cold. service took about 10 minutes which is expected.
google avatar

Carrie L.

Yelp
Are you running to make your connection from the opposite end of the airport and have only a few minutes to spare? Well look no further than La Grande Orange. I had 10 minutes before boarding and did not want something prepackaged. I saw the potato, bacon, and cheese burrito at La Grande Orange's hot bar and did not have high hopes, but it was hot and ready. Wow, this might have been the best airport food I've had in the US, or I was really hungry. I think a little of column A and a little column B. The burrito was hot. The potatoes were fully cooked and seasoned. I could visually see large pieces of bacon, not shriveled little bits. I was very happy with my purchase and gobbled up the whole thing, nom nom nom
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
It's airport food so what do you want? As far as pizza goes it's bad.. not much else to say other than it's bad. It is food however and when you are starving it does the job. Very little cheese and even less pepperoni but plenty of grease.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
It's really early (5:15 am); I walk up and ask when the kitchen opens.. cashier says 5:30, ok cool. Wait 15 minutes, go up to order and am told the kitchen will be at least another 15 min before its open. Not sure what exactly changed in the interval, and the later option meant I couldn't order before boarding my flight...
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I just think this is the best at what it does. Homemade everything - great breakfast options. The commuter sandwich changed my life 15 years ago - always try to find its equivalent at home and never succeed. The English muffins are just heavenly. Went back for lunch! Grabbed a bbq chicken sandwich which was delish. Bakery is out of this world. Tons of items to help you gain weight. But it's not just a restaurant. It's a cute general store with an amazing wine selection of 100% top shelf wines and others more affordable options too. Cute gimmicky items for gifts or mementos. Eat in or outdoor. Pizza in evenings or weekends. I go one or two times a trip to Phoenix or Scottsdale- without fail

S R P.

Yelp
Legit good food in an airport? At 8 PM on a Monday? With thoughtful and cheerful staff? It happened at a completely randomly chosen food-court-y place at terminal 4 of PHX! This place definitely hits the spot.
google avatar

Brad W.

Yelp
One of the better muffins ever eaten. This was packed with blueberries and it never stopped. They were baked fresh and semi warm. Coffee was good too. Nice breakfast.
google avatar

Phillip M.

Yelp
Having a BLAST at the bar. The staff and the bartender are outstanding. The bar staff made the delay enjoyable and had the entire place in stitched. The food was fair but you cannot beat the service. If you are in PHX D wing stop by and enjoy your time here. You will not regret it. Also the Kilt Lofter is the bomb!

Yelp
Having lived in Phoenix for close to 17 years LGO always brings back fond memories while living in the Camelback corridor. Their airport location doesn't offer all the great stuff compared to the big store but it's pretty close. LGO without a doubt has one of the better pizza's in the Valley of the sun and their sandwiches also never disappoints. If Phoenix Sky Habor Airport is your pit stop make sure you give them a try. 5 stars for consistently good and reasonably priced food and friendly service. I'll be back. Enjoy and Bon Appetit.
