"La Guadalupana—often shortened to “Guad”—is one of Montrose’s most beloved institutions. The Mexican and lunch cafe opened in 1995 and seems to be mythically passed down as the mid-morning meal cafe of choice for any 20-something in close proximity. That’s either due to the aromatic cinnamon coffee or the Guad’s fabled hangover cure, the vampiro, a carrot-orange-beet juice comb best consumed in one big glug. Add on a plate of over easy huevos rancheros or enchiladas verdes blanketed in lettuce, and you will be pleasantly satisfied for a few hours, or at least until starts at a bar nearby. Or grab some breakfast and fresh pan dulce to-go for an early morning commute. " - Chelsea Thomas

The food is horrible. The size of the sopes are too small, for $4.99 is too expensive. After you place your order, be prepared to wait at least 1 hour. The prices of the menu are off. They charge you more than the prices printed in the menu. In the end, when you leave that place, your clothes will smell like grease. DON'T WASTED YOUR, MONEY, AND YOUR TIME.

Google
First time here - I am eating a delicious croissant breakfast, made to my needs (no peppers, no onions), together with an equally delicious and gentle coffee latte. Charming staff and a visit from cute Trancito Diaz, the owner.

Celina Torres

Google
Had breakfast, it was delicious and very satisfying, they had hand made small flour tortillas! Everything cooked perfectly delicious. Ice coffee with a hint of cinnamon, aqua frescas delicias! Delicioso, delicioso, delicioso!!

Google
It is indeed a hidden gem. I got the chilaquiles rojos with Guisado de Pollo. It had a great taste, spicy indeed. My only complaining was that it is only Chilaquiles and beans, anything extra it’s more. The Machacado was also delicious. Would have been nice if there were more sides included, as well for the tortilla to be homemade. The desserts looked delicious! We did end up getting 2 bread, it was good. Tasted like any bread at the bakery. Would definitely come back to try other stuff.

First time here, tried it on a whim. Had no idea what to expect and it was AMAZING. The food has the perfect seasoning, the almond croissant is a MUST. I will absolutely be back

Google
10 out of 10!! I first visited La Guadalupana about a year ago & always want to come back. Everything meal I have ordered has been delicious and never disappoints. The chef is also so kind and you can tell he truly takes pride in what he does. I have recommended so many family’s members to this restaurant. Definitely recommend! (:

Google
This place is excellent! Super clean, with lots of light, comfy nice chairs, we enjoyed ourselves so much, the service is also exceptional and you will have the chef coming to your table to make sure everything is right. They have a selection of freshly made juices, the pozole was the best I’ve ever had in Houston, GET THE POZOLE, you won’t regret it! Flavorful, not too spicy and not too plain, with the right amount of meat and hominy. I also ordered a Chile relleno which was ok, not the best, and the breakfast that my partner ordered was very fulfilling. Their signature coffee tastes a little too burned for our taste but it wasn’t that bad and they specialize in gourmet desserts and pan dulce Mexicano. We are coming back! We loved this place and are glad we ran into it.

Google
We’ve been to the Montrose location many times, which is across town from us, so I was excited to hear a Pasadena location was opening. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but the almond croissant and coffee are to die for! Also, these are my 5 yr olds favorite pancakes, he cleared his plate!

Yelp
Not only was the food great the service and attention was beyond expectations. The chef was so personable and friendly.

Kristina A.

Yelp
Great lunch spot. Food was flavorful and served up hot. The staff was very sweet and attentive. Low key and classic Mexican food. Can't go wrong with that.

C A.

Yelp
Unless they have changed, they do not have vegetarian options. I don't eat meat. It apparently does fairly good business, I generally see cars outside of it.

Andy H.

Yelp
Excelente servicio, el personal muy amable y atentos y la comida muy rica, el pan y pósteres son caseros al igual que las aguas frescas, el lugar muy limpio, tienen un ambiente muy agradable, muy recomendado!

Yolanda J.

Yelp
The food service and ambience was superb ??? The shrimp and spinach quesadillas were .

Yelp
Everything about this place I love. The food is amazing, and so is the postres It's a bit pricey but I'm always down to spend money on good ass food. The staff is really friendly, and the chef comes out to check on everyone too. I wish they were open longer The mole is really good, no complaints at all, I always get the Migas and they are crunchy and spicy. Everything was great I found a new spot.

Grace D.

Yelp
Okay giving it five stars although I think there are a couple of things they need to work out. None of the issues are related to food. The food was really good but maybe it's me, I thought the portions were a little on the small side. In my perfect world, they would have just one more server because they seem to be shorthanded. The food did come out as expected, but to get more coffee and even the bill it was a little slow. It seemed like the chef had to do some busing of the tables. He was very nice and accommodating. The place is very clean and I would definitely go back.

Omar J.

Yelp
Great coffee and food. Service not so great, but food was good. Environment was acceptable as not many people were there. However, shortly after we arrived it got full.

J Carlos G.

Yelp
There is a good place and great service.very good food.Very good place and very good atmosphere, very tasty food and recommended for everyone. My favorite food is breakfast. Chilaqiles with meat and the coffee is very delicious with cinnamon. I recommend it...and you will see the person with the hat...

Erik G.

Yelp
Soo I was super excited to see that La Guadulapana (IYKYK) is now in Pasadena ... was In the area and came in to try it ... FANTASTIC!!! Same great food and service, coffee is AMAZING. The best part is that it's not overly run with gentrification... So if your in Pasadena come give them your business such a great little local spot!!! PS the are DELICIOUS !

Melissa M.

Yelp
The owner is probably one of the most sweetest and most attentive person I've encounter as far as being a restaurant owner. He makes you feel welcomed and if he sees you waiting without a drink he offers you his delicious coffee. Coffee was amazing it has a hint cinnamon. Good was delicious too! Will be coming back and bringing my friends too.

Erik G.

Yelp
Delicious!! Used to frequent the original restaurant in Montrose but recently moved to the Houston hobby area. What a pleasant surprise to find they had expanded out this way! Those owner was super friendly and she came out to greet and speak with us. We will definitely be back! Migas and the omelette especial were incredible. Not to mention the churro's for dessert!

Graciela G.

Yelp
First I want to start off by the location is almost hidden because it's a bit away from the other business but you won't miss it . Coming in the environment feel welcoming and clean. The waitress really nice and on top of everything. I decided to try the carrot juice, let me tell you that carrot juice it's freshly made really good & they don't add sugar or anything else to it so that's really good if you like fresh natural juices. The omelette and hue is rancheros had a really good flavor and the sauce was good But too watery, almost feel like I was eating soup. I feel like they should make the sauce a little bit more thick and that should fix the problem. The dessert let me tell you they are good ! The raspberry chocolate cake is well balanced not Overwhelming at at all !! The flan it's delicious it has a twist I believe that it has some type of almond in it but it's well combined . I'm general I would most likely recommend this place.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday and it was amazing! I got migas with bacon instead of chorizo and the guadalupan mocha latte. Oh my goodness, so delish! Did not disappoint!

Lyndel B.

Yelp
The Food was made fresh to order and was delicious. This place is a hidden gem! The service was great too. The dining area is very clean and has a warm vibe to it. This food will remind you of your grandparents. The desserts are delicious too! I highly recommend the almond croissant it has a layer of almond paste in the middle that was unexpected and delightful. I will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
I had breakfast there once and I liked it. But today I went with my husband and had milanesa. First of all it was a very small piece, with a tiny portion of rice and fries that looked like the frozen ones. I thought ok, maybe it will be delicious, I don't care if it's a small portion. But as soon as I tasted the milanesa I was disappointed, it had a horrible taste and looked undercooked. That's was so sad. But I went on to try the rice and that felt and tasted like rice that's was left over and got very dry in the process of reheating it. So I was left with the frozen fries I had some of them because I was starving. My husband had a gordita with steak in it, but couldn't find much of the steak at all it was all full of lettuce and the gordita it self was chewy. I wanted to like this place so much because I know it's own by a chef that seems to be a very nice person. But I have no idea what's going on? I am not a Karen or a mean person so I didn't complain. But I wish they improve their food so that their business grows.

Lisa S.

Yelp
What a great place right in my neighborhood!! Such good food! Had the Chilaquiles and they were wonderful. Loved their cinnamon coffee and even took some pan dulce home.

Al U.

Yelp
Loved their food!! The workers there were very kind and just provided great customer service! The torta I had was like no other! The bread was delicious and it made me want to order a second one! I'll definitely be back for more soon!

Ilian G.

Yelp
If you're looking to eat the most disgusting "tamales" this is the place to purchase some. I wouldn't even call them tamales honestly this is the worst tasting thing corn flour w tasteless chicken inside ever. To top it off each dozen is maybe a little over $20.00

Mr C.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Great place to go have breakfast. Staff is super friendly, place is immaculate and the coffee and Mexican bread is the best I have ever had. Highly recommended.

Margaret Z.

Yelp
Food was very tasty. Will definitely come back. Also the offer fresh bakery goods. Conchas, croissants, cakes and muffins

Anahí D.

Yelp
We tried this cafe for the 1st time and it was great. Great food, great friendly staff and the sweets were awesome.

Miguel R.

Yelp
Great food and service. Owner is very attentive. The huevo rancheros We're very good. Their coffee taste like café de olla. A variety of pastries to chose from.

Kristi P.

Yelp
What an awesome unexpected surprise this new spot is! Took the family there for lunch. Not your typical Tex-mex but more traditional Mexican. The chicken mole was the best I've had anywhere. The Guisado was excellent. Also tried the Pechuga Poblana which had a Parmesan cream sauce. Yum! On the bakery items we took some things to go and they were delicious. The owner/chef brought us a just baked almond croissant. Wow it was amazing. They have a great looking breakfast menu too so we will sure return for that. So happy to see something different in this area!

Catherine L.

Yelp
This place is the BEST! The steamed bass with vegetables is incredible. The beans are velvety and perfect with the rice. I've had the flan, and it's the most delicate, silky flan ever. Just perfection. All the pastries I've had have been so good, and I am so excited that this place exists so close to my office. I will be eating many lunches here. The service is incredibly friendly, and it's a delight to walk in the door. The coffee and hot chocolate are also must try items.

Esmeralda L.

Yelp
Salsas for the chips were incredible! Super delicious and not so runny. I'm used to white pozole but this pozole was really good. A bit on the spicy side but it has pieces of meat and avocados. The owner is very nice and attentive since it was my first time here. I will for sure come back again!!

Gerardo R.

Yelp
Ate breakfast and had the migas, they were delicious along with the vampire drink. Wife's rancheros plate was just right and she enjoyed it.

Robert G.

Yelp
Fantastic food fantastic people. We ate there this morning and the food was delicious. The only thing better than the food was the service. We didn't have to wait on anything. We were able to sit where we wanted and the food and drinks came out quickly. What we really liked was the family atmosphere. One person might bring you the food another person the drinks and then someone else might ask you if you wanted something else. They all worked together as a team. Jacob our waiter was tremendous. He is very helpful and complimentary.

Sarah B.

Yelp
We found our new favorite spot!! Our experience was a pleasant one all around. The service was absolutely amazing and the food was unlike any other in the area. You can tell when food is made with love and it definitely is here. We can't wait to come back!

Cecilia M.

Yelp
Great food! And they always provide great service. Always super kind and the food taste homemade. It's delicious!

Gisela R.

Yelp
A location close to my side of town and very delicious food. I highly recommend it. If you been to the original location in Dunlavy, you will enjoy your food very much. We went there for breakfast, can't wait to go back lunch.

J A.

Yelp
The food and service is amazing! Thank you for the warm welcoming and can't wait to try it again.

Marisa E.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast, very clean and so delicious!! Will definitely be back again!! Staff was super nice too! Highly recommended!!

Ray F.

Yelp
The best Mexican breakfast in Houston! I feel like going everyday. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Even the drinks coffee and horchatas go hard!

Edith T.

Yelp
Fan of the Montrose location but this one is in our back yard! The staff is SO friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious and their tres leches is magnificant! So delicious!

Elvira D.

Yelp
I've been here several times now. The food is delicious. The coffee is excellent. The desserts are beautiful and scrumptious. I want to taste them all! And the service is the best.

Melinda A.

Yelp
Guadalupana absolutely blew me away! We had their Asado de puerco and chile relleno, both absolutely delicious! The puerco was super tender and the sauce was so flavorful! The chile relleno, oh my god, FINALLY I found a REAL chile relleno!!! Breaded stuffed with quest fresco smothered in delicious red sauce with lots of cilantro I was so sad when I moved here to Pasadena and the Tex mex chile rellenos were basically stuffed bell peppers except in a poblano guadalupana restored my faith in rellenos! And don't even get me started on their baked goods, oh man they were heavenly. We had the almond croissant and the blueberry muffin! The croissant was so decadent, almost like it was filled with a sweet butter, but it wasn't??? Absolutely mind blowing delicious. Also the muffin was super moist and absolutely yummy. 10/10!!!

Gerrit S.

Yelp
So fresh. Everything tastes homemade. Really excited to have this location near us. We had breakfast tacos, enchiladas verde, and a tostada. Everything was great. Can't wait to return.

Scott P.

Yelp
We are from New Orleans and visit Houston frequently. We always try to eat at authentic Mexican places when we come in town. We came here accidentally after some bad directions from my sister in law and I'm glad we did. Everything was delicious. The signature coffee is great. The breakfast torta was too. But the chilaquiles were outstanding. I got them with both sauces, a couple of eggs and some chorizo. Some of the best I've had. Definitely recommend this place.

Irina T.

Yelp
This place is so good. I've been there 3 times and every time I am amazed how good the food is. The owner is so friendly and the ladies are very attentive. It's definitely a nice little gem in Pasadena. The coffee is so smooth and delicious. There is something about the tacos that are very tasty. The sweet bread is all made there and is so good! Is definitely my favorite breakfast spot.

Rene E.

Yelp
My wife & I decided to try it for the first time for breakfast. It has been open for a while but we hadn't been able to go. It was delicious we will definitely go back. Great Customer Service, good portion of food & very clean (Covid safe). I highly recommend it & will go back for lunch to try it. I'm sure the food will be amazing just like there breakfast. Thank you for the delicious food & hospitality.

Kasper G.

Yelp
If you want to find a hidden gem in Pasadena for pan dolce (Mexican Sweet Bread) minimum selection but done to perfection and morning Mexican favorite breakfast entree's (Huevos Ranchos, Chilaquiles con Huevos, etc...) You have to stop. Staff was extremely friendly and food was great.

Gloria C.

Yelp
This was our first trip to this place because we read a good review on yelp. I will be honest about my review. The flour tortillas are homemade, and delicious. We paid $2.50 for an egg and potato taco, and it was worth it. They brought our order out to our car, and the girl was very friendly. We will be back again.

Janis B.

Yelp
Finally after 3 months our Sunday School class was gathering and I wanted special cakes decorated with a "mask" and "social distancing" to acknowledge the virus impact on our lives. Chef Diaz created a Tres Leches cake with a world view wearing a mask. He also created a Chocolate Expresso cake with all the social distancing practices: wash your hands, soap, sanitizer spray, 6' apart, the Covid 19 symbol, and "Think WE not ME on the cake. Perfect! The delightful, thoughtful, delicious cakes were enjoyed by all! Thank you Chef Diaz and La Guadalupana#2. Janis Bailey

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Wow! The almond croissant is amazing, and the cheesecake was so creamy. The coffee is delicious! I am trying not to eat everything I bought in one sitting!! Can't wait to go back for a meal, of course we stared with deserts!

Albanny G.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast, staff is supper friendly and nice! The food was amazing! If you're looking for true Mexican cuisine this is you place 10/10 recommend!!
