Former Rocky Cola Cafe Space Becomes Gus & Andy’s Kitchen in Montrose | Eater LA

"Before that, the Art Deco corner housed Wally Curry’s retro Rocky Cola Cafe, a '50s-style diner opened in 1988 that became a longtime north Glendale institution — made famous when President Bill Clinton stopped in for a buffalo burger and fries in 1996 and when Whitney Houston filmed a video there — and which closed in 2012; the new restaurant even recreated the booth where Clinton had lunch and echoes the diner's green-and-pink interior, including a Rum & Rocky Cola cocktail that references the former spot." - Ani Duzdabanyan

Came in around noon on a Friday and ordered a banana cloud matcha latte and strawberry milk. My toddler loved the strawberry milk, its super cute presentation and simple ingredients so I decided to treat him to that. My only complaint si that it was $4.40 for a strawberry milk, its just too steep for the portion size. The banana cloud matcha latte was okay. It was $7.60 for the large. It wasn't worth it. I didn't want to dig a star because I think I'm just not a fan of the ceremonial grade matcha they used here. Between the banana cloud and the matcha there was a play dough like flavor to it. The banana cloud tasted natural, not artificial which was good, I think I just wasn't a fan of the combo. Service was good. The girl at the register was very nice and helpful and the drinks came out fairly quickly for how busy they were. I think I'll just stick to the coffee based drinks from now on when I come here.

Always heard good things about this place, and they were right. Had to come twice during our trip. Matcha was good and strong and the banana cream was sweet by itself but delicious when mixed in with the drink. During the morning was nice and quiet but after 11am there will be a line.

Google
Our first time here! Though the long was line, it went by really quick with fast and friendly service! Interior is super cute and aesthetic with even cuter drinks! Menu was filled with many options and we decided on a strawberry cloud matcha latte and an upside down latte. Both were super yummy and the matcha and milk ratio was perfect in my opinion! The latte was very tasty as well! Personally, I would’ve gotten the drinks a bit less sweet but that is a personal preference! Definitely will be back again to try the food and pastries as they were out for the day!

Abby is such a joy!! First time here and loved it. Came all the way from Las Vegas! The La La Latte was delicious. 😊

Google
I gave this place a second chance after they made a mistake the first time but going again today they repeated the same mistakes they cannot get an order correct. This is the second time they have made it incorrectly and also the line is about 20 minutes long on a slow day, where they take about five minutes per customer where this is this is not a quick grab and go coffee location. Atmosphere is nice.

Google
For my first time visit EVERYONE was kind and friendly with great customer service. Coffee is amazing. Will always come back when I am in the area. Forget those chain coffee setups. Pay for GREAT QUALITY and quantity options. Thank you La La Land! ☺️💓✨

Google
Best matcha latte I’ve ever had. The Keith Lee matcha is so good and the strawberry was so juicy both times I got it.

Google
The cutest coffee shop! The look is esthetically pleasing. The baked goods 10/10. Loved it!

Yelp
LOVE. LA LA LA LAND drinkies! The double matcha is my favorite & their coffee is super yummy too

Yelp
Peter was super sweet and gave us great customer service. Coffee was great. First time at this location and won't be the last :)

Yelp
Amazing coffee!! The best vanilla latte not too sweet, trust me you won't be disappointed

Yelp
Stopped by La La Land and overall had a great experience! We tried a few different drinks, starting with the matcha. We ordered it unsweetened, and while it wasn't bad at all, we definitely wished the matcha flavor came through a bit stronger. Still a solid option if you prefer something more mild. The seasonal S'mores Cloud Espresso Latte was the highlight. They were super generous with the cloud foam, and the drink had that perfect balance of being flavorful without being overly sweet. We also ordered the Cocoa Cuddles for the kid in our group. The flavor was really good, but it was surprisingly hot for a kids' drink. We had to wait quite a while before it was cool enough for them to safely drink. Overall, tasty drinks and worth a visit; just a couple small tweaks would make it even better!

Yelp
Didnt feel welcome within the store and the person assisting with handing out drinks was pretty far from friendly as I asked her for utensils. Seating is quite limited inside (3-4 tables with an average of 2 seats each inside, 2 tables with 2 seats each outside) and it can get quite busy during weekends and whenever La La Land does a collab with other brands. As for the drinks themselves, the matcha was actually pretty good and at perfect sweetness with an oat milk substitution and I really enjoyed it - 4.3/5. I will say, however, that it was quite pricy for like the 12oz cup. There are definitely better places out there if you're looking specifically to get a good matcha, but if you're walking around the Americana and want a drink to carry on hand it's pretty solid.

Yelp
Good coffee, but absolutely not worth the chaos. I came on a Saturday afternoon and was excited to bring my friend in for her first time. When I arrived, there was a long line out the door and a huge crowd of people smashed together waiting to pick up their drinks. After I ordered, it took 35 minutes to get our coffee. In total, I ended up being there for almost an hour. Inside, it felt hectic, loud, and completely overstimulating. What made it worse was the nonstop stream of mobile orders coming in. They clearly prioritize those over customers who are physically standing there waiting, which felt ridiculous. Why bother showing up in person if you're going to be pushed to the back of the line? I truly felt bad for the employees because it's clearly not their fault. It's due to poor management and a lack of oversight. Overall, I left more stressed than satisfied. Good coffee doesn't make up for a terrible system and an overwhelming environment.

Yelp
They had my previous review deleted, Yelp sent me a message about it violating its rules, but I literally posted that the customer service was horrible at best because no one looks at you and they just pretty much yell your name and throw the drink onto the counter. On top of that the drinks are way too sweet. Like who's drinking these except the high school kids that come to hang out at the mall? While we were there, there were 2 employees dressed in almost bikini like outfits handing out drinks and working in the back. Highly inappropriate outfits for this type of setting. Not sure if this is a special uniform but it made me and my wife really uncomfortable. I don't think I would come back here

Yelp
Date of visit: November 16, 2025 Selections: Strawberry Cloud Latte with Matcha Ham & Cheese Croissant Experience: Came here to meet up with a friend, who had suggested this place to check out. We came at what I thought was a busy time to only discover later on that there was a whole other level of busy this place could surprisingly get when it was raining on and off during our stay there. The cashier was really patient and nice with me as I asked questions about certain items before placing my order. I ended up getting a Strawberry Cloud Latte with Matcha and a Ham & Cheese Croissant that they heated up for me. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables inside. They did have outdoor seating too along the walls of the place, but seating was damp outside due to the rain. The latte was surprisingly delicious and I was such a fan of the strawberry cream that came with it on top. The croissant was delicious too and I loved how flaky it was and the crisp cheese topping on it. We both loved the merch they had for sale that included hats and mugs and the vibe was nice though it got pretty load with the amount of people waiting to purchase and pick up their orders as they sheltered from the weather outside. Definitely would come back to try their other items!

Yelp
The hype is real with La La Land. It was my first time there and the baristas were very kind and helpful in selecting a drink that wasn't too sweet! Our lattes were delicious and the espresso is definitely of quality. We chose to split the Crookie because... well, why the heck not?! It was really good, my only wish was that it was heated a little more since the inside was cold. But overall, a nice experience! I'll be back whenever I'm in the area -- for an aesthetically pleasing and good quality coffee, give this place a visit!

Yelp
I've come here a couple of times in the past and tried different variations of their matcha, so I was curious to try their coffee. The location itself was quite busy, and although they were moving fast, still had to wait about 10-15mins. Expect a wait if you're coming here. I got the seasonal Charlie cloud drink in a small size and it was very very sweet. Definitely felt like a dessert moreso than a beverage. It was tasty, but I don't think I could have any size larger than the small considering the sweetness level.
google avatar

Braxton H.

Yelp
I ordered the La La Land matcha with their strawberry foam, along with their signature cookie. The cookie was super delicious and shareable in big bite sized portions. The matcha was just the right amount of sweetness and consistency and matched super well with the aesthetic of the place! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed their matcha here, it's not bad, I didn't get a memorable greeting, but she was nice, drinks were quick as well. I like the big bright shop, it's nice to hang out at.
google avatar

Incynthia T.

Yelp
Love the drinks but staff could be a bit more attentive. Manny were focused on the conversations they were having with other employees than tending to actual customers. The place is in a great location though and beautifully decorated

Yelp
I have to say this is the best latte I've had since moving to LA. Unfortunately it's also one of the most expensive. For how small it is, $10 is crazy. I did ask for oat milk (an additional charge, I'm sure) and added cloud (cold foam) but I can't imagine what a medium or large would be. I do really want to go back, it was a great latte :( They did initially make my drink wrong but were very quick to add the cloud, which I'm grateful for because I did pay extra for it and it was really good! The vibes in here were great. It's a little sterile feeling but the music is good and the aesthetic is cute. Not my preferred vibe for a coffee shop but I'd come again just to grab a good latte.
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
The worlds best vanilla latte is a 10/10. I recommend getting it less sweetened. The coffee shop is so cute with a clean girl aesthetic. The service is also great with the employees being so friendly and willing to give a lot of recommendation. Definitely worth trying!

Yelp
A beautiful spot to chat with friends or come for a cute aesthetic experience. Now this is what I recommend here : -An iced La La Latte is your go to if you like a simple latte. It's not too sweet and comes in two sizes which I absolutely love. This is your traditional vanilla latte with a cloud top. - Worlds Best Vanilla latte comes iced or warm (I prefer iced drinks) this is your other vanilla latte, but it is a little sweeter than the La La Latte and does not have a cloud top. You do get more of a vanilla bean taste with this one. - Any other drinks is top tier as well, you just can't go wrong with it. They also really do listen when you say light ice or less sweet. - La La Classic Avocado Toast... the best avocado toast in LA. I LOVE that there are chili flakes as well. Any toast is great here, but this is my favorite. I would come to this location if you do want to experience a more relaxing vibe. It is a shopping center so a wait can be included in this experience, however where are you going in Los Angeles that doesn't have a line? The grove location gets very busy so I prefer this location. Here you will find yourself enjoying a cup of coffee and walking through the cutest galleria.

Yelp
Stopped by for the delicious drinks, cute atmosphere, and positive vibes. Shout out to "Coach" Ella for her cheerful energy! She treated each person that walked through with genuine respect and kindness. BE KIND.

Yelp
Line wasn't that long around this time, usually it is super busy! Came by on a Monday night! Cookie butter cloud latte! Super excited to try it. We also ordered strawberry fields latte! The cookie butter cloud latte was def worth it. I got it with reg milk & decaf. Def coming back to order it again

Yelp
Was at the Americana, and realized I had not been here yet, so decided to do in and try it out. There was a long line but it went fast enough. Staff was very friendly and that goes a long way. Tried the Strawberry cooler and Matcha squared latte. The strawberry cooler has this processed strawberry flavor, which just wasn't that great, in my opinion, and then the tea after taste comes through. As for the matcha, it was far too milky, needed much more matcha flavor, and this was not it, unfortunately. Overall, nice staff, long line but the product didn't match the hype for me
google avatar

Yelp
Tried out the kids combo which I think is a great deal - food, drink, and toy for $11! There are 5 drink options and 3 food choices: avo toast, avo toast with egg, or Nutella and strawberry. The app oddly enough only shows two options at a time when I've checked. I took a star off bc the bread isn't actually toasted so that feels like a misnomer. It was easy enough to place the order on the app and walk in to pick up but beware if you're there for the blind box toy, its whiles supplies last ! I was told they're restocking daily but they also sell out daily so might be better to order in person. Also had the matcha strawberry fields with oat milk and I loved how strong the matcha was. Not sweet which is how I prefer my matchas.
google avatar

Kristina A.

Yelp
The drinks were good, it was really pretty and everyone was really nice. I thought the interior was cozy, there were couches and a table to sit at creating a nice homey vibe. The outside area was also beautiful with lights and a decent amount of tables. I got the strawberry matcha and it did not disappoint. The flavour was a great blend and the texture was smooth, which is nice as some matcha drinks can be a bit grainy. The staff was extremely attentive and worked quickly to get our drinks out.
google avatar

Christian P.

Yelp
Actually really good, to be honest! The coffee and coolers are really good, and the place is clean. They're pretty fast too, but it can get a bit crowded, so that makes the wait a little longer. Still, they make your drinks quickly. I'd just suggest checking the AC -- it was a bit hot inside. Other than that, I definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Gonzalo C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great customer service, great espresso! The latte was perfectly brewed!

Yelp
Eye-catching cups and bright yellow colors drew me in, but the matcha missed the mark. I was in the Glendale Americana area for an afternoon run/walk with Lululemon and saw several people holding bright yellow coffee cups. Their marketing with the pop of yellow is a great idea. The color makes me happy and reminds me of sunshine. I thought I would leave with the same feeling, but the drinks were not my cup of tea. I was recommended to try the Strawberry Fields Matcha, but I've been on a Banana Cream Top Matcha craze that I wanted to compare La La Land Kind Cafe to other Banana Matcha drinks I've tried. Maybe that's where I went wrong, but the matcha should be the same, I'd assume. Starting off with the banana cream top - the banana flavor was so light, almost non-existent. It had a sprinkle of cinnamon on top which overpowered any hint of banana. I didn't get a cute cup, but that's okay. The drink is very small with too much ice for $7. The matcha was gritty. Kind of bummed, but at least I had a good walk.
google avatar

Jing F.

Yelp
I ordered their strawberry matcha and it's very good ! The line can be long but i find that the service is good. The ambience is very cool and trendy! I wish they have one here in the SJ.
google avatar

Maansi S.

Yelp
This is my second time at la la land kind cafe but my first time at this location. The aesthetics are super cute and I loved the heart shaped straw BUT would I recommend this place, unfortunately no. The prices were decent for LA and the drink itself wasn't bad but seemed watered down. I personally prefer grabbing a delicious drink over aesthetics. If you're in it for the gram, this is a cute place to snap a picture.
google avatar

Danni O.

Yelp
Five stars for my matcha squared latte!! This place is super aesthetic and had a long line that moved quickly. Really enjoyed the iced matcha, tasted like high quality powder and was phenomenal with oat milk. Would come back again!!

Samvel H.

Yelp
Very tasty coffee and the stuff is very friendly. I would highly recommend dry clean and the stuff helps.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Not my first time at La La Land, but my first time at this location! The drink I grabbed was good and similar to other locations; however, the wait was a bit long despite it being 4 pm on a Sunday. Otherwise, no regrets here! Service: 4/5 Food/Drinks: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
Pros: Fun drinks, snack foods, breakfast pastries, fun decor Cons: Long lines however, they did move fast.
google avatar

Regina K.

Yelp
So cute, my first time at La La and I happened to have my stitch bag while there is a Disney promo! I got a Strawberry Matcha with Matcha Foam, the baristas were really nice and recommended the Matcha foam over strawberry foam. This was the first time I didn't see a long line so I decided to pop in!
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, but a bit overpriced. $8 for a latte is steep, but Starbucks is almost $7, so I may as well come to La La Land for a better tasting one. It's always extremely busy, so I recommend ordering ahead in the app 15 minutes before you plan to pickup. Their pastries are also good, but I wish they had more options!
google avatar

Blanche M.

Yelp
Cute ambiance, lines can be long. There is definitely a hype to this place, so we decided to try it. They have plenty of drinks to choose from, and we ordered their matcha latte. It was good! I loved how their straws were heart shaped. Line went by in a steady time, but not super slow. This place can get super busy.
google avatar

Michael O.

Yelp
If you want coffee with no personality or community value then by all means come to La La Land. Another heavily invested branded cookie cutter company that seemed to pop up everywhere overnight. If you like crunbl and being "seen" while enjoying coffee that is at best ok then this is your place to go. There are many coffee shops in Glendale and many other community oriented places you can support instead of lining up at a trendy spot. To each their own though.
google avatar

Vickie V.

Yelp
My niece delivered me coffee and a pastry from this super cute place. The aesthetic is so on point! Look at the cute heart stopper on my drink. My latte was perfect, not too sweet and the coffee taste came through just like I like it. I don't know what type of coffee they use but this drink gave me wings! My niece ended up ordering some for herself and she called to say she was super caffeinated! Neither of us added shots to our drinks. So, I guess you're getting your money's worth. The crookie was good but very decadent. There is no way to have that all by yourself unless you are a child who absolutely lives for sweets. Not only is the cookie on the outside, but it's inside the croissant as well. So, you've been warned of the sugar high you will be on if you order this. I definitely want to visit this spot when I'm at the Americana but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to go to the Americana just for coffee. If you're in the area though, definitely stop in.
google avatar

Sheeny N.

Yelp
Cute aesthetic cafe & good customer service! Clean and spacious inside with lots of tables! I tried the La La Matcha Latte and the Cookies n Dream Matcha Latte! I like how the La La Matcha Latte had just the right amount of cream top and sweetness to the matcha. The Cookies n Dream Matcha Latte was slightly underwhelming since you can't really taste the cookie crumb flavor as it's masked by the taste of the oat milk :/ Lines can get long, but it moves pretty fast! The workers here really hustle to get your drinks to you asap! Because it was super hot the day I went, they were also handing out free cups of water, which was really thoughtful!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm struggling to make up my mind about whether I like this place. The gentleman who took our order was excellent, and the line was out the door. He was welcoming and in a good mood. We ordered the La La Cookie, Chocolate Croissant, Iced Vanilla Latte, and Strawberry Fields. The La La Cookie and Chocolate Croissant were more delicious because they were warmed up. The iced vanilla latte and strawberry fields (iced matcha with strawberry puree) were just all milk. We were disappointed because we couldn't taste the vanilla, espresso, or matcha flavors. The wait time was around 15 minutes and the place was a controlled chaos. The packaging is cute, and I want to try a different location. As for this location, I recommend it only if there is no line.
google avatar

Verity H.

Yelp
The coffee here is amazing. Every cup tastes fresh and well-prepared. The staff is friendly and cheerful, and the place has a really cozy vibe. I love coming here to relax or get some work done. Everything feels welcoming, and I always leave happy. Definitely my go-to spot for coffee.

Yelp
My favorite coffee. I buy the beans here too. Magic is my favorite! Love the whole team. Especially Dayna.

Yelp
Dude food was fire my toast was literally 3d i didnt even know avacado vould like be that tall it was so Buss Drink was good and cute cup and there wad this cool light above me but i didnt take pic sorry

Yelp
This super cute coffee is conveniently located at the Americana street facing brand. The inside design is consistent with the brand's yellow concept. There is seating inside and outside. You can also find some fun retail while you are there. Service is good but a bit slow. We had a matcha latte and a cappuccino. We were on a rush so we ordered from the app and stopped by for pickup which was convenient. Definitely worth the try. Coffee and matcha were tasty. I wish the matcha wasn't as sweet.
google avatar

Naz A.

Yelp
They have the best chocolate chip cookie and banana cloud latte. If you like banana cream pie then you would love this drink!! Their strawberry cooler is also very good much better than the Starbucks one!!
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
The coffee here is really good! I always enjoy their perfect latte - this is on the sweet side - but it's literally perfect. And I also got to try a new flavor I haven't tried which is my second favorite now - the banana cream top latte. Definitely a dessert in coffee form. I enjoyed it from start to finish. As always the service here is very good and the staff all have a great and positive energy. This cafe is a bit smaller than the one in the grove and do not have many places to sit. There's also a line out the door, so be prepared to wait
google avatar

Yelp
The café offers a bright, Instagram-friendly space: plenty of natural light, stylish décor, and a clean, welcoming feeling.. try their Avo Toast!!! It's the best!

Yelp
La La Land was our FAVORITE coffee of our entire LA trip!! The cafe itself is so cute we loved the aesthetic! Even the cups were stunning, they came with a heart shaped straw! They specialize in Matcha and Coffee, but they are known for their Cloud Cream, that's sweet and adds the perfect touch to each drink They have so many crazy latte flavors for both coffee and matcha, including Cookies n Dream, French Toast, S'mores, and Strawberry They have tons of specialty Toasts and Panninis both savory and sweet! We had the Breakfast Toast which featured scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, garlic aioli, slices, sweet thai chili sauce and bacon The savory Combo with the sweet Chili sauce was DELICIOUS!! They also have this option as a Panini and for the toast day of GF Brett Their new location, Cafe de La La, has exclusive drinks you can't find at the other locations! We loved how many options they had Have you been here?! #Foodie #FoodReview #FoodieFinds #MustTry #BestEats #RestaurantReview #MustTryEats #HiddenGems #BestRestaurants #FoodSpot #ViralEats #EatThis #foodieztm #foodiesinternationalchat #eatwithfoodiez #foodieexplorertribe #foodandbeverageonly#thf #teamhappyfoodies

Yelp
If you love cozy and good vibe coffee shops you will enjoy this cafe. The staff is ALWAYS kind, efficient, and seems so happy to be there. It made my last visit so enjoyable. I got to try the peach matcha for a collaboration with Rare Beauty and it was sooo yummy. I'd never tried that type of flavor with matcha and it tasted very refreshing. I like that they had a staff member waiting at the counter to call out order names and formally give the drinks to each guest. Also the merch was very cute! I loved looking at the uniqueness of each item. If you know someone that loves this spot check out their gifts! If you want to support a lovely business definitely give this spot a try.

Yelp
This place had been on my must try list of coffees so when I saw it in the area I knew I had to try it! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and the line was out the door and moved at an okay pace. There is some seating inside and a couple tables outside. It's more like a grab and go. You can also mobile order which I would probably do next time I'm in the area. I got the birthday cake matcha with oat milk which was good but I regret not getting a coffee instead. I also decided to try the chocolate chip cookie which you can choose to get warmed up & it was soft but also crispy. The taste of the cookie was very homey.. if that makes sense! If you're in the area, check it out! They have a good selection of drinks.
