Everyone keeps telling me to go to La Lupita and Incan see why they love it so much. The combination of restaurant design, cool environment, and live music is very inviting. The food and service were fine too.
On the night I was there, the three men band was excellent. They played a mix of rock and grunge music that I grew up on in the 80s and 90s. The highlight was definitely when they played a moody "Hotel California."
As for the food, it's a bit too much fusion for me. I would have preferred more traditional taco flavors, rather than all these added ingredients. Nothing was bad, all quite good, but everything felt like a blur.
Pibil Suckling Pig was my favorite taco. Cheese Crust Al Pastor was interesting, but I prefer it on a soft tortilla. Duck Mole was a bit sweet, but quite tasty. Beef Tongue was okay and Lamb Barbacoa was not as memorable as one I had at El Perrigon. Skip the Mushroom & Cactus next time.
Other than tacos, we had two appetizers. The Peruvian Ceviche was forgettable, but the Miso Clam was delectable. Maybe a bit too much butter, but tasted great. I would reorder that any day.
Lastly, should have stayed away from the desserts. The churros was too crunchy, not chewy at all; while the flan was really sticky and not smooth whatsoever. Am I missing something or were they simply done wrong?
For what it is, a hip and trendy restaurant/bar, the price were quite reasonable. The bartender was friendly and so was our server. Guess I would come back and try some other tacos since there is such a large selection.
