"Acclaimed Houston restaurant Riel is popping up at Le Madeline, the new contemporary Vietnamese restaurant in Quincy, for one night only on Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. Chefs Ryan Lachaine (the co-owner and executive chef of Riel) and Peter Nguyen (former Riel employee now leading the kitchen at Le Madeline) are putting together a five-course menu that melds Vietnamese flavors with the Texas gulf coast in dishes like tempura fried oysters with kimchi hot sauce, a surf and turf pho, and more. Tickets are $125 apiece, with drink pairings available for an additional cost." - Erika Adams

Always a lovely experience at La Madeleine. This particular visit we picked up some brunch—Country French Breakfast and Croque Madame. We also picked up some coffee crème brûlée. Everything tasted fresh and phenomenal. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and made the environment comfortable (even in the short time we were there waiting on our to-go order).

Google
French bakery and cafe in Meyerland square I tried their Croque Monsieur (like a grilled cheese with ham). The sandwich was OK but the side salad it came with unfortunately had wilted veggies past their dude date. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Google
It’s a shame how badly this location has gone done in customer service and quality. The bakery is never fresh and they look at you crazy when you ask for your pastry to be warmed up. I love La Madeline and their food is usually so good so it’s really sad to see this location not live up to their standards.

Google
I love their almond croissant and turkey baguette. They are AMAZING 😊 La Madeleine in Meyerland is my go to place when I feel like having a sandwich or an almond croissant (I can’t get enough of them).

Google
This place was kind of a let down, considering I’ve been eating at this corporate restaurant for a while in multiple states. First they hid there bread, kool we where still able to get some, then we where there at 7am when they opened, the food was clearly not made fresh, the food was still cold in the middle to the touch, then my wife’s dish was served with hair in her eggs! Not impressed at all!! we thought that going there first thing in the morning we would get nice hot food that was just made!! This was clearly not what happened. Definitely not worth the money!!

This is one of the places I really enjoy when I'm in town. I love the chicken salad on croissant, it is absolutely scrumptious. Don't leave without grabbing dessert: the fruit tart, creme brulee and lemon tart are my faves. Social distancing dine in is available or carryout. This is a great spot for a late breakfast, lunch and dinner. I enjoy dining especially for lunch.

Google
Their avocado toast is the worst I have ever had, and their chai latte was incredibly bland with what looked like an accidental lid-popped cinnamon spill on top instead of the usual amount. The white toast was very small, hard, and crunchy, and the avocado was spread very conservatively. I am also a vegetarian and found a small shred of chicken on the lemon slice that was plated with the avocado toast.

Google
Another one gets five stars because the food is delicious and the restaurant is amazing. I really enjoyed my first time eating there. I'm really impressed with this restaurant.

Yelp
Love walking into this restaurant! This place really gives you the feel of a French Cafe and is great value with the quality. The staff are friendly and the displays are attractive. I love the chicken friand, with its flaky pastry and creamy filling. The mushroom sauce is also so tasty. The chocolate tarts, crème brûlée and of course, sachertorte are just delicious! A dining experience you will enjoy!

Yelp
A great combo: chicken Caesar sandwich with tomato soup. The soup has always tasted pretty basic and tarte on its own and the sandwich tastes subpar by itself, but both together - it tastes better.

Gary T.

Yelp
First time in about 20 years of driving past. Was really impressed with the quality of the ingredients and how quickly they got our food ready. Desserts (Napoleon, eclair) were worth it.

Brenda A.

Yelp
Ate brunch, had a quiche and French coffee. The cashier did let me know if I do the survey on receipt get a free pastry, yum yum. Also got a jar of their tomato basil soup for dinner can't wait to try.

Leslye C.

Yelp
I ordered the creamy pesto pasta for takeout. The to go portion is laughable... this looks like someone ate half of it.

Julia B.

Yelp
The food was and is always good. The salad was fresh, the soup delicious and the bread soft with a slight crunch on the outside. The service was so so. I stood there in front of the salad station for a while and there were 2 ladies talking and did not acknowledge me. After a bit a male who was farther down asked me if I needed help so I said I would like a salad. He talked to the ladies in Spanish then they came and helped me. The older lady at the register was very friendly.

Gail S.

Yelp
Very disappointed ... they didn't listen today when we placed the order ... Went to get bread. It isn't out like it used to be. They gave us some bread wrapped in plastic, but g-d only knows when it was baked .. Definitely not today. Gave us end pieces and it was so dry. Did go back and get more, but it wasn't much better. Asked for tomatoes to be put in a separate plate -- nope on same plate. Used to be good - must have had to make a lot of changes, and COVID isn't like before, and they are back to not putting bread out .. At least give the customers fresh bread.

Susan A.

Yelp
Check your boxed order For the special box of 6, they dumped the worse of the croissant batch onto your box from the back. Not worth the 10c discount!

Yelp
This location in Meyerland used to be my favorite until today. I ordered the grilled cheese with the small salad with the dressing on the side. I made my order through Yelp. Over the past few months the people at La Madeleine no longer update the order on time and your food sits on the shelf getting colder unbeknownst to you because they haven't said that the food was ready through the software. Since I already knew they've been doing this I went ahead and walked up to the pickup cashier and asked for my food - ahead of time. My food was sitting on the shelf already getting cold. I thought that was going to be the only problem today but then I opened the salad. Usually I don't even eat the salad. I usually put it in my refrigerator and it sits there until it wilts and then I throw it away. But this time I decided I needed to eat the salad since I really shouldn't have been eating the grilled cheese sandwich since it's too many calories & lots of carbs. At first I thought there were bits of peppercorn on one side of the salad, but one smashed between my fingers when I investigated it. They are mouse poops on the cheese in the salad. Absolutely disgusting! I am now wondering if the little round black balls and turd-shaped pellets on other food have been mouse poops or bug droppings all along! To try to alleviate my increased panic, I googled their images for their salads to see if they normally come with peppercorn. Nope. This place needs to be shut down!!

L Tamara W.

Yelp
The food is mid. Ordering process is confusing and it's not really that clean. They obviously don't want your business because they cover the outlets and only allow you to charge your computer outside. This is NOT like other cafes where they welcome you to stay, study, meet and ultimately spend more. During daytime hours the store is empty and could benefit from people looking for a quiet spot to get work done. Skip this place.

Yelp
Great restaurant and great service and food! I live this location because I get greater as soon as I open the door as I walked in! My favorite place to eat and have a good time!!

David N.

Yelp
Another great La Madeleine experience with friendly faces and customer service. The parking lot is adequate for the restaurant, but the parking spaces are small. The service is similar to other locations which is great. I had the cranberry wild field salad with optional chicken. Tasted great. The jam now comes in a pump machine and no longer in small containers. The jam is very runny compared to before. I assume it has to be more liquid to be able to pump out more easily. Will return!

Yelp
La Madeline's French country appeal and delicious food makes it a favorite for us on weekend mornings. The quiches are delicious and I need my potato gallette fix every now and then. The employees are always happy and friendly. I've never had reason to complain. Don't forget to grab a jar of their incomparable tomato basil soup to take home with you.

Eldhose T.

Yelp
The first time I visited here was back in 2019. A Co-worker introduced me to this place. Never went or had any French food before or a French Restaurant so this was a great opportunity. Loved the food when I experienced it and took my family there to visit again. Recently as of this past week , went and ordered food for coworkers to kick in for the new years. I tried the holiday sampler this time and I really enjoyed it. Next time I go to La Madeleine's , I'll have to order the Pasta which got me hooked into this place to begin with. Highly recommend it - eating indoors is great, the atmosphere and setting is amazingly done. The Bakery has a lot of great options and I highly recommend their Special Tomato Basil Soup - I bought the large jar of it and it is absolutely delicious. Worth every penny.

Yelp
Please be advised this restaurant apparently CANNOT get a delivery order correct. Two nights ago four of us ordered meals yet they totally neglected to put my puff pastry stuffed with chicken in the delivery bag and we had to drive to the store to get it. Sorta defeats the purpose of ordering through a delivery service. Today two of us ordered sandwiches, mine was the French Dip and it was delivered without the au jus. Very dry and not appetizing at all. I have no problem with DoorDash but la Madeleine personnel can't fill a simple order. Food is good but being unable to fulfill a simple order discourages me from ordering from there again. Buyer beware!

Barret L.

Yelp
My mom and I like to go here all the time for a light lunch and quick catch up. It is a great atmosphere for chatting amongst friends. We love to get either the Salade or Cafe Sampler plates, because you get a small portion of 3 different things instead of having to choose just one. And we always get their Mango tea! It's very good. Fun place to go when it is cold outside, because they have a working fireplace in the center of the dining area. Be sure to check in when you are there! I got a free small pastry with my check in. They also have their own app that you can scan to get points, so for the Yelp Check In freebie they will need to call a manager to clear the cost of the item.

Yelp
Our kids love this place so we did a little gnoshing here. I copied my wife and got a 3 way meal deal, a salad, half a quiche and soup. The salad was fresh and tasty, the spinach quiche was very good, and the onion soup was very good, they did put too much cheese and croutons on top....still very good. My son got a hot turkey or chicken sammy that was amazing, i'm copying him next time. Check in on Yelp for a free torte.

Connie F.

Yelp
Definitely sign up for their emails and their birthday/rewards program (use the app!) I love getting a sweet treat from the bakery every year for my birthday. :) We especially love the fresh fruit tarts and the sacher torte parfait & cake. Everything is good though! The tomato basil soup, quiches, strawberries romanoff, and chicken friand are so good! Right now I am really craving the holiday feast sampler and the turkey cranberry croque. They have free bread with jam and butter. If you can't pick just one, get the cafe sampler! The employees have been lovely every time we've gone. Since this is in Meyerland Plaza, there is plenty of parking.

Mimi L.

Yelp
This location needs a corporate visit asap!! You come in and there is not a sign to let customers know where to order and All the service providers look at you and walk away!!! I went up to the cashier to place an order and wasnt even greeted! There were flies everywhere and the teas tasted horrible. Atleast it was clean inside that is all I can say!

Yelp
Texas take on french food. Commercialized and suburbanized. Being here is one part cafeteria, one part assembly line, and one part efficiency at its best. This place has its fair share of signature items. I'm a big fan of the Cesar sald with baked chicken. Its reasonably healthy (you can make it even healthier if you tell them light on the dressing), as well as the baked potato soup with extra bacon. The Chicken friand and quiches are good, but sometimes hit or miss. When you walk in, there is a bakery on the right. Shortly past that there is a counter to order entrees. However, if you are looking for soups salads and pre-made baked goods, this includes the baked potato soup, tomato basil soup, salads, quiches, chicken friand, etc you can grab a tray and skip past this traffic jam. Best part of this place is that it can be pretty fast and efficient. This includes getting single serving lemonades, or mimosa at the cash register. I also remember along time ago they used to have small containers with jam that you could grab. Thats long gone now, and replaced by a nice commercial sized pump for you to jam yourself to your hearts content.. Parking is pretty ample with the Meyerland shopping complex. Escalante is right around the corner so close by parking can get a little tight during rush hour. It's slightly pricy, and quality is not always consistent. Service is pretty quick and its a decent choice if you are in the area. Overall 3-4 stars, with good consistency, everything you have come to expect with la Madeleine.

Kim H.

Yelp
I got my food to go. It's full of goodies and gift choices too. I got my food to go. They need a bit more help in this area. It gets backed up. Sampler plate is a great choice and gives you a taste of what they have to offer. The potato soup was good but not rich and creamy. The chicken salad was perfect and the fresh strawberries and romalaude sauce topped it off.

Monique M.

Yelp
I love the food at this place but it is seriously going down. The drinking glasses are extremely dirty, I then asked for a plastic cup and lord and behold it too was dirty. A man sitting next to me never got his food, they forgot until his entire party was done eating.

Michael M.

Yelp
Don't bother coming to this location to work on your laptop unless your battery is well charged. They covered up ALL the outlets in the dining area. It used to be a good place to come in the afternoon, but there are other places nearby.

Joey J.

Yelp
The staff who prepares complimentary bread bags didn't have any gloves on. He touched all the breads then counted some cashes from this pocket. And continued the packing. He also ran the food and cleaned the table. Whether under the Covid situation, food sanitation is always important to the store. Why would you do it just to show but the germs have been spread thru your employees.

Charles M.

Yelp
Some really good pastries and coffee products. I love the decor and the atmosphere. I think you pay for the name. I went to the bathroom and felt like I was in a French chateau. Then I heard this woman saying numbers in French on a recording. That was scary! She continued to say that now you can speak French! The food is made from scratch but this is a chain. I've been to one in several states like northern virginia around Alexandria and there use to be one in Silver spring, but it closed down before I could patronize it. I'll be honest I was looking for DD or Starbucks but I settled for this place because I was falling asleep behind the wheel and needed some caffeine.

Sarah G.

Yelp
The Mardi Gras Danish? The soft crumb of a danish with a crisp bottom crust, the just right cream cheese filling, and the sparkly sugary colored topping....Delicieux. Never again purchasing a huge king cake. I'm buying fresh Mardi Gras danish, each just right for one serving. And beautiful on a tray for having friends over for Mardi Gras brunch.

Kim T.

Yelp
Always love this quick bite to eat. They serve the freshest breads and dishes. My ultimate favorite is their savory pastry, Chicken Friand. Delicate flaked pastry with delicious mushrooms and juicy chicken. I also enjoy their Chicken Caesar Salad. You can even purchase their salad dressing and bread crumbs. I also love their Pesto Pasta which has penne pasta sautéed in their house made pesto cream sauce topped with fresh diced tomatoes. I absolutely LOVE their Mango Breeze ice tea. Perfect for your meal.

Mike C.

Yelp
Country breakfast was 4 stars great! The issue is cleanliness and upkeep. The floor was dirty and the bathroom needs to be completely renovated. I will never understand why most restaurants ignore their restrooms. The condition and cleanliness of restrooms is just as important as the quality of food!

Kelley J.

Yelp
The staff are SO nice here! And the manager sometimes goes around and asks how everyone is doing and he's really nice too. Because of the employees and manager they give me a neighborhood bakery vibe sometimes. I really wish the food was better though. For some reason, foods here are a little colder or less seasoned tasting than other locations. Pastries are pretty good but they're the same as any la madeine. I recommend the fruit tarts, lemon tarts, and the chocolate cake!

Stephanie R.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill. I have been eating their food my whole life and I have never had their salad be this disappointing. I got a chicken Cesar to go, the lettuce was brown and wilted, the chicken was gummy and there were large chunk of soggy bread. They used to have flavorful roasted chicken with crunchy croutons but I guess they changed when ingredients. I wasted $10 on this salad, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Chris M.

Yelp
Don't waste your time. I ordered the scrambled eggs, came out looking like Afghanistan, bombed out and depleted. Seriously, look at this hot mess, won't be coming here anymore. What an effing disappointment, my dog scored this morning though. Any recommendations for breakfast in the area?

Gail S.

Yelp
Was okay. Received my eggs with Pam spray and it came out very greasy. Disappointed with the way they do the bread now. I appreciate how they bag the wheat and white bread, but you Have to take a bunch before finding what you want, I accidentally left an envelope on the table with a bunch of coupons and when I called there they claim they didn't have them. That was very upsetting

Aisha I.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place and the owner/manager! I bought a large fruit tart for a small celebration at home but it turned out to be a bit off and didn't taste like it usually does. After serving it and everyone rejecting it, I was a little hesitant but I decided to give the restaurant a call. I spoke to a lady who handed the phone over to the manager and he asked me to bring it back the next day! So I did that and as an exchange, he gave me mini fruit tarts and even threw in some extra ones and said he felt bad for my experience! I was very surprised and happy and I totally appreciated his customer service! I was a regular customer before but I am definitely a life long customer after this delightful experience! Thank you for being polite and understanding towards this experience! :)

Susan K.

Yelp
Saying a big thank you to the extraordinary service Diane provided at our gathering today at hwy 6/290 location. La Madeleine was my Mother's favorite restaurant. She passed away on Feb 5 and I thought it a fitting place to remember her after her service. Diane was the perfect host. Attentive, respectful and the highest praise for her knowledge and customer service excellence. You all are fortunate to have such a personable and gifted manager on your staff. SHE IS A GEM!!!

Dina D.

Yelp
Great chicken salad and better customer service today . I will give this location another chance

Shelene L.

Yelp
Enjoyed a great dinner here by way of a BOGO app offer. If you haven't signed up the the La Madeleine app yet, I highly recommend that you do so ASAP. The dinner deal that I utilized was only available through it. What makes it even better is the fact that customers aren't required to pay through the app. All forms of conventional payments are accepted. I ordered the balsamic marinated chicken with rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. Yum! And it was under $10. My friend ordered the bow tie pasta with pesto cream sauce and shrimp. She really enjoyed her meal too. It ran about $12 and is still a bargain. Both servings were plentiful and served piping hot which is a huge plus for me. #AppsRule

Yelp
So easy and doesn't feel like fast food. Great salads and atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Good choices and easy for take out.

Jerome W.

Yelp
Well-cooked and well-seasoned food is available either immediately or within 10 minutes of the order. Take-out service is packaged well and delivered promptly at pickup time. Staff are friendly and responsive to special requests. Outdoor tables and dining areas are well-maintained. Wish I felt safe enough to eat indoors since I like the interior, country-ish decor.

Yelp
We normally go to the La Madeleine off Westheimer at Carrilion center in Houston, Texas. Today we tried the one on Eldridge and Briar Forest in Houston Texas. Although the food was good the service was terrible. The person who took our order did not greet us when we entered. Twice I went to the counter to get assistance. There were four people behind the counter and no one came to assist me. I had to go to the register to get someone's attention. They were not friendly, courtesy or welcoming. They acted put out that they had to help me. When the food arrived, I told the server which was mine and he still gave it to my husband, when we exchanged my plate, he put my husbands plate by me as well and walked off. It is hard to believe these are the same resturants. We have always received great service at the one at Carrollton Center. They are so customer friendly and welcoming. If you are expecting good customer service when dining, do not patron the one on Eldridge. We will not visit this one again. Very disappointing.

Tracey D.

Yelp
I called in my order and the person over the phone said my food would be ready in 15mins. I was stuck in traffic and arrived 30 mins later. I told the clerk my name and she repeated my order and I paid. She looked around for my food and couldn't find it. No one ever made my food so I had to wait an additional 15mins. As I was waiting for my food, I looked up and saw a roach crawling over that to go containers on a shelf. I told the clerk but of course by the time she looked the roach had crawled underneath the bottom container. Yuck! I told her there was a roach under the containers. She looked embarrassed, stared at the containers for a moment then went back to doing whatever she was doing. I hope that roach doesn't make it into anyone's food. I still took my food to go but I won't be back. The bread on my sandwich was burnt.

Yelp
Table sniping! Get your glasses on, purse in hand and be ready to fight another 'lunching lady' for a table. This place is a mad house at lunch and there is limited seating. So, you end up standing and sniping tables. 6 of us were meeting for lunch here, so I first grabbed a two person table and realized I was being silly. So I threw that one to the wolves and looked around. Then I found a 3-4 person table and thought I was making progress.... Eventually I got two tables together... SCORE! Well, 20 minutes of table hopping and I could finally get my food. (The curse of the perpetually early person.) We took turns ordering so someone could guard the prized table. I got the chicken Parisian sandwich with chips. The chips just aren't my thing (left uneaten). The sandwich was good, not great, but good. Other people at the table ordered salads. It was a bit of the tail of Goldilocks... One person ordered a small salad and got it. Another ordered a medium salad and got it. The last person asked for a small salad and got one big enough for the table (she had no idea what happened but left a lot uneaten). The food was ok. It's interesting how La Madeleine is really a cafeteria disguised as a french bistro. I liked how the whole place is themed down to the Hispanic lady cleaning the table in a beret and the Ren Fest looking bathroom. I was impressed with the speed of the food. It is simple food, but I was pressed for time after table sniping for 20 minutes. I was able to order, get served, and eat all in about 30 minutes. I was impressed. Now... we could tell a whole other story about parking spot sniping. This place has challenging parking at prime lunch time. The rest of the time I think it's ok.

Diana A.

Yelp
Ordered their trio today, quiche, tomato basil and side of fruit. It was a full breakfast and took fruit to go. They also serve mimosas on Sundays. Plenty of seating available starting by two, four, or more. It does get somewhat chilly so bring a sweater. Available outdoor seating also. Staff is friendly and helpful especially morning weekend group.Music is also good. If you want to practice French there is an option for it as you head to the restroom. There is also a nice fireplace that is on during cool weather.

Yelp
Terrible experience getting Thanksgiving dinner today. My mother and I wanted to order the basics (turkey and stuffing) and are cooking some things at home. I'd ordered La Mad thanksgiving plate several years ago and it was good. This time I had a TERRIBLE experience. Synopsis: Trouble ordering on app; called in order; lost my order; long line crammed in small area & no social distancing; order wrong; only got 3 oz turkey; substitutions not communicated; gave us strawberry jam as "cranberry sauce"... In detail: First I tried ordering through the app. Could not get it to take 11/26 pickup. So I called on Wednesday afternoon (11/25) and ordered two holiday sampler plates and said that I will take their default green bean and stuffing as sides. When I got there today (11/26) to pick up, there was a long line all crowded into the small entry area near the door. The dining area was essentially empty. They did not spread the line out into the dining area, so people can social distance. It was one person against the next. I asked if I ordered yesterday, can I just pick up the order or do I have to stand in line. Apparently they did not have my order, so I had to stand in line. When I finally got to the front of the line and ordered, they charged me for plate and dessert. I said I just ordered the plate (we had prepared dessert at home). Then I had to wait longer. When I finally got my bags, I did not look because I just wanted to get out of there. I was in that crowd near the door for about 30 minutes and I have an very elderly mother. When I got home, I found they had given me broccoli instead of green bean and rice instead of stuffing. We had two small pieces of turkey per serving. Each serving of turkey weighed 3 oz! I guess I got the diet Thanksgiving dinner. The broccoli was so under cooked that we put it on the stove to cook more. Never again. See the picture of the turkey on the scale showing 3 oz. I hope I don't get the Covid-19 in the next 14 days. We will be counting out the days. Addendum: I used only the mushroom sauce for lunch. In the evening, when I put the "cranberry sauce" on my dinner yams, that red stuff turned out to be strawberry jam - they cheated all the way around. If they ran out of stuff, they should have been honest and told us what they were offering and given us a choice of taking it or not.

Carlin T.

Yelp
Only reason for 3 stars is because it was a free birthday dessert. I tried the napolean and I ended up just scraping out the inside strawberries and custard, which was at best very so so. Presentation may be appealing but the taste is lackluster.

Andres G.

Yelp
The crepe egg omelette was delicious the service was great as well. We will definitely be coming back to try the pastries.

Michelle D.

Yelp
The food and service are consistently good but their table tops are sticky with a lot of build up - they need to be more than wiped down (which they do.often) they need to be scraped and deep cleaned. We switched a different location solely due to the unappetizing table tops.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Pretty cool spot. Came here with my aunt for a "quick" breakfast/lunch to chat. All the food was delicious and I was stuffed. Customer service was fine, the place was clean, and even the presentation of food was nice. I would certainly go back.

Vicky B.

Yelp
I love their food. Always fresh, always delicious! The atmosphere of a small french cafe is so inviting and welcoming! I love going with friends to just enjoy a nice cozy lunch and service is always great! The staff are definitely friendly and they asked if I wanted anything right when they saw me standing in front of the dessert counter. I ordered their Strawberry Napoleon to save for the next day. I love the cream but the pastry itself was so hard, I couldn't break it with my metal fork. I had to pick it up by layer and eat it like a cookie. It wasn't flaky but kind of hard like a baklava. But the cream with the fruit was good. I'll definitely come back here for their soups and pasta, but maybe not their Napoleon. I'll probably stick to their mini fruit tarts and parfaits next time since I usually order their fruit and chocolate parfaits.
