Texas take on french food. Commercialized and suburbanized. Being here is one part cafeteria, one part assembly line, and one part efficiency at its best.
This place has its fair share of signature items. I'm a big fan of the Cesar sald with baked chicken. Its reasonably healthy (you can make it even healthier if you tell them light on the dressing), as well as the baked potato soup with extra bacon. The Chicken friand and quiches are good, but sometimes hit or miss.
When you walk in, there is a bakery on the right. Shortly past that there is a counter to order entrees. However, if you are looking for soups salads and pre-made baked goods, this includes the baked potato soup, tomato basil soup, salads, quiches, chicken friand, etc you can grab a tray and skip past this traffic jam.
Best part of this place is that it can be pretty fast and efficient. This includes getting single serving lemonades, or mimosa at the cash register. I also remember along time ago they used to have small containers with jam that you could grab. Thats long gone now, and replaced by a nice commercial sized pump for you to jam yourself to your hearts content..
Parking is pretty ample with the Meyerland shopping complex. Escalante is right around the corner so close by parking can get a little tight during rush hour.
It's slightly pricy, and quality is not always consistent. Service is pretty quick and its a decent choice if you are in the area.
Overall 3-4 stars, with good consistency, everything you have come to expect with la Madeleine.
