I stayed the night here while riding the Via Francigena on my bike. I loved it. The hostess was warm and gracious and responsive. She recommended a place for dinner and made the reservation for me. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Good shower too. And a generous and excellent breakfast! This place was great. And a secure place for my bike.

We stayed here for one night as part of an 18 day trip to France. From the outside of the building it doesn't look anything special but as soon as the door is opened you will be very pleasantly surprised. Lovely stone sweeping staircase and Arlette's apartment is huge and very tastefully decorated. We stayed in a room overlooking the street and it was very atmospheric. Arlette is a delightfully charming lady. She speaks good English and is very attentive. She has a small restaurant in town which we ate in and it was very good. The room was very comfortable with a very modern bathroom and lots of quirky features and object d'art. The breakfast was lovely with 3 different types of bread which were all delicious. Arlette was very good company at breakfast. Pontarlier is a lovely little town and this was special B&B to stay in. Highly recommended.

Don't be put off when you arrive at the La Maison d'a Cote for what lies behind the door is pure elegance, charm and chic in Arlette's 19th century apartment. Our bedroom was spacious, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The pillows were great. The bathroom equally so with a powerful shower, claw foot bath and sumptuous towels Complimentary toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. Excellent wifi signal.||||Arlette was a charming host and her breakfast table inviting with a selection of breads, home made preserves, yoghurts, fruit, cheese, etc. Thanks to our Google French/English translation app we were able to understand each other quite well.||||We also dined in Arlette's restaurant - a stone's throw from La Maison d'a Cote. There were also plenty of other eateries in the town.||||Definitely one to tick as a 'special place to stay'.

I understand what others have said about the outside of the building, but I really liked the character and style of the outside - it all seems to be part of the bigger picture. It is literally 20 yards from the very characterful high street, opposite the square leading up the the church. It's all part of the charm; location, architecture, local atmosphere...||||The main door from the street leads into the main entranceway - the sweeping stone staircase is like a scene from an old, classy movie. The apartment inside is large and has been perfectly decorated and styled by Arlette. No detail has been neglected and the room made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Brilliantly styled and designed en-suite too! I learned that Arlette is in demand for her professional interior design service. I think she should publish a book on it!||||The breakfast was as excellent as everything else. Arlette was very charming and extremely helpful offering excellent hospitality at all times. If you are planning a visit Pontarlier I highly recommend La Maison d'à Côté.

We visited in June as part of our motorcycle trip around France, Arlette is a wonderful host who made us feel extremely welcome for our two night stay. The property is stunning and can only be described as first class. The breakfast is freshly home made and just superb and Arlette I so friendly it was a pleasure practicing our French language with her. We will certainly visit again next year and its location to the town is excellent, thank you Arlette, Chris,Simon and Phillip

Madame Laude is a delightful lady who cannot do enough to please. We speak very little French but she is constantly trying to improve her English. We stayed in a room in her house which was on the second floor which was tastefully decorated with old French items. Breakfast was included and served in the French way so coffee out of a bowl. All the preserves are made by her and the cheese was locally produced. It is right in the centre of town but be careful if, like us, you are there on a Sunday as the only place open is the Poste Hotel. Food was adequate in the hotel and the service was good but it wouldn't be somewhere Id really recommend.

As has been said below, do not be put off by the outside appearance. Our room was full of French elegance and quite spacious. Arlette was very accommodating in overcoming our wifi connectivity issues. She was also a font of knowledge with regard to the local area. The local area is full of great scenery and delightful country roads. The apartments are well located in the town centre with many eating options close by. Arlette recommended the Café a Ponte, a short stroll away, and we were not disappointed. The breakfasts were a French adventure including the delicious breakfast juice created by Arlette. We were sorry to leave this morning as Arlette had made us feel so welcome. We would absolutely recommend this accommodation and we would have no hesitation in staying again. Thanks Arlette.

My husband and I spent three nights at Arlette Laude's wonderful B&B in the Doubs department at Pontarlier near the French/Swiss border. She has created a unique and lovely space in a former single family dwelling (late 18th/early 19th century). Her design sensibility is delightful...a charming mix of the antique and modern. So many of the touches seem curated by an expert and I absolutely loved all the antique linens and the other textiles. She prepares a wonderful breakfast in her modern kitchen/dining space with fresh squeezed juices, a bread selection that only the French seem to do as well, homemade jams and a special baked item or similar each morning. And every morning we were there we enjoyed a different set of antique china. She has two bedrooms at the front of her apartment which allows guests access when she isn't home...you will have your own key to the door and there is a code to access the building. Our large bedroom (almost a suite) is in the back part of the apartment. We also peeked into the front bedroom, smaller than ours, but with a more modern design and I loved it as well. Both are really very luxe. The other couple there with us were Irish and an absolute delight to chat with at breakfast. Arlette joined us as well for much of the chatting and we had lots of laughs. I really just wanted to sit at the table all day! Arlette previously owned Restaurant Côte Pont, beside the Doubs river which runs through Pontarlier. I had thought she still had the restaurant and requested that she reserve for us. She had done so and explained that she sold to her former server and the chef remained as well. Please see my separate review for this restaurant. Should you ever have an occasion to visit this lovely area of La Belle France, stay at this B&B! I am sure you will not be disappointed.
