Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The team behind Tacos Extranjeros at Fair Isle Brewing has started a new seafood pop-up at the same location. It’s open Thursday through Tuesday, serving dishes like hamachi and tuna tostadas, aguachile, queso dips, and charred poblano clam chowder." - kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

La Marea's seafood tostadas pair well with fancy beer - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"There’s a tostada pop-up happening almost every night at Fair Isle Brewing, and it makes for worthwhile snacking alongside the brewery’s complex saisons. The hamachi version is the best one here—buttery slices on top of a smoky albacore salad that adds a welcome balance to the tang. And we also like the tasty peanut salsa macha in the mixed seafood version. Other dishes aren’t quite as successful, like the tuna tostada with fish that’s sliced a bit too thick, and aguachile with bland scallops. But for those looking to mix things up from the usual brewery burger night, this is a solid choice. Keep an eye on La Marea’s Instagram—the folks behind Tacos Extranjeros run this operation and mix things up often. Food Rundown Mixta There’s a lot going on in this tostada, including pieces of shrimp and octopus that do a nice job soaking up the salsa. It’s messy and a little difficult to share, but still worth ordering. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Tuna Not a bad bite by any means, but the fish is too chunky. The sauces sort of get lost in the mix. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Hamachi There’s more thick-cut fish here, but it gets along well with everything else, particularly pops of pleasant smoke from an albacore salad hiding underneath. photo credit: La Marea Aguachile De Callo The aguachile itself is minty and refreshing. However, the scallops don’t really pull their weight, even though their weight is literally tiny bivalves. photo credit: La Marea Chips, Salsa & Queso The queso is like edible velvet—we just wish there was a bit more heat. The move here is to order the sturdy chips with a side of La Marea’s fiery habanero salsa, which isn’t for the faint of heart, but is fantastic. photo credit: Gabe Guarente" - Gabe Guarente

Google
Excellent Mexican food, but it's damn expensive. I paid $60 for three items. They were all pretty small and my partner and I both left still pretty hungry. But man, it's tasty. Really unique flavor combinations balanced perfectly. They warned us that some items are a little spicy, but they were just right.

Scallops in mango cevechi sauce and chips is bomb!! The Hamachi and Tuna is 3.7. It's a casual place and fresh seafood. i would come back for the seasonal menu. Love it.

We ordered the entire menu and I’m salivating again just thinking about it! They are serving up some of the most authentic Mexican flavors made with love and impeccable care for fresh ingredients. The skill and passion Bo brings to his menu is his own, and the love and excitement of what both Liz and Bo bring to their work is what keeps bringing us around their table! Saturdays they serve up a bagel worth getting out of bed for: pillowy Toasted sesame bagel from Backyard, topped with Bo’s secret saucy, creamy and spicy smoked albacore and salsa macha cream cheese bagel 🤩👀, need I say more? Bring your iced coffee and Take. A. Seat!

I’ve been a regular since they started making tacos about a year ago, and I’ve been loving their switch to mariscos (seafood in a Mexican style). They do oysters every Monday, and I’ve realized that oysters should really always come with a passionfruit sauce and lime— it’s the perfect kick of fruity sweetness and acidity. Alternating that and the aguachile makes me feel like I’m on a beach. The hamachi is what I go with if I’m craving something a little less spicy, it has subtle hints of savory and salt. The ahi tuna tostada is the thing I basically always order— it’s spicy, savory, delicately flavored. It’s a really good balance of smoky, fruity chile morita, with top grade tuna. It’s like a nice sashimi dinner but with additional complex flavors. One thing I’ve loved in the year I’ve been coming is hearing a lot more Spanish as they get more buzz, and watched them grow into their community. It’s a nice place to talk to people at the bar and spend an hour or two.

My wife and I decided to make a trip over to Fair Isle brewing to try out La Marea. We have been following them on instagram and finally made a trip to try out the food. We are super happy we made the trip because this food is amazing! My wife took her first bite of her tuna tostada and said " this has to be one of the best things I've ever had" and she wasn't lying. That tostada was amazing and had so much flavor! She ended up going back for another one. I ordered the Mixta tostada and the aguachile with Scallops and passion fruit Habanero. The mixta tostada was so good and the flavors were insane. The aguachile was really good too. I wish it was spicer but the habanero and passion fruit was really good. We sat at the bar and the chef was talking to us and telling us about his journey from pop up to full time kitchen for fair isle. Very excited to see what other food items they come up with because they are making some great food! I can't wait to keep coming back for delicious beer and even more delicious food!

Google
This is the most delicious seafood I've had in Seattle! The flavors are all distinct yet meld perfectly so you have a flavorful bite every time. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared with care. The hamachi tostada has smoked albacore and a spicy salsa macha. The aguachile also blew me out of the water. The scallops are tender and balanced against the spicy ají amarillo and the brightness of the passion fruit. It's a celebration of the culture and ingredients!

Google
La Marea is definitely the best gourmet seafood in Seattle. ❤️ Great flavor, great service and owners are really kind. We tried the scallop aguachile, the hamachi tostada and the tuna tostada. Beyond tasty 🤤 For latino people that value the personal treatment since we always like to come back to the places we like THIS IS THE PLACE! Their dishes change so you will never get bored of the same here 👏

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday to enjoy their happy hour oysters ($2 per oyster) which I learned about from Tiktok. You can order them by the half dozen or by the dozen and they come served with two different sauces. One is a spicier red salsa and the other is a mango sauce. The mango one went so well with the oysters and I'm delighted to have been exposed to a new flavor combo that I enjoyed so much. I also tried the scallop aguachile which is tossed with sliced red onion in a passionfruit habanero sauce. It has an amazing spicy kick to it that I absolutely loved. This dish came with two toasted tortillas which were very yummy and high quality. Actually everything tastes really high quality. Highly recommend everything as it's so fresh, citrusy, and flavorful. Kinda pricey but worth it!

Yelp
The fish is fresh, I will have leave a five star review if I was advice how spicy the food was, unfortunately it over takes any flavor, due to been in pain from the spiciness. One tostada is $18 and not being able to eat it is not a good experience. Aguachile is delicious and fresh. Not server or service other then making an order and I was ask for a tip over 20%.

Yelp
Run don't walk. I love this place. The seafood is super fresh -- easily some of the best Mexican seafood I've had in Seattle. The tuna tostada is my favorite. I've been twice now, and both times everything was great. The setup is cool too -- it's inside Fair Isle Brewery, so the vibe is casual and relaxed. You can hang out with friends for a few hours, grab a beer, and there's usually no wait. It's definitely on the pricier side (tostadas are around $15-$18), but the quality makes it worth it.

Yelp
Fair Isle is already a great casually classy place to get beer in fancy glasses. And then you add the dishes from La Marea and boom, the night is elevated. I'll be honest, the thing that pulled me in were the $2 oyster Mondays (which is changing to Wednesdays, I think starting this week). The oysters were delicious and fresh both times I've had them, but I liked them more one week from another... we later asked if the oysters they served in previous weeks were the same, and it seems they switch between different kinds. I've also had the scallop aguachile. It was a beautiful and yummy dish, but I felt the fruitiness of the passionfruit was a bit overpowering and it was hard to taste the scallops. It came with two crunchy tortillas. The dish was so soupy that I wish it had come with more crispy tortillas, or maybe a bunch of regular tortilla chips, to sop up the rest of that liquid! Last but not least, I had the tuna tostada. I mean... I could've had at least 2 more of these in one sitting, but they're so pricy ($16.50, unless it went up by now). So, if you are feeling spendy and are in a beer and citrusy seafood mood, check out La Marea at Fair Isle Brewing.

Yelp
Mexican seafood popup at Fair Isle Brewing! You can get a beer from the brewery and have some tasty seafood to go along with it. They have tostadas, aguachile, salsa and queso. We got their tuna tostada, the especial tostada which was lingcod, the scallop and passionfruit aguachile, and the queso. Everything was delicious! The seafood was so fresh. Very clean and bright flavors. My favorite was definitely the especial lingcod tostada with peanut salsa.

Yelp
La Marea is it. The hunt is over. As two Southern California transplants, my husband and I have been searching for the best mariscos in the Seattle area. After 3 years, we can conclusively say La Marea is #1. All fresh ingredients, incredible flavors, and really creative dishes. The staff knows what they're doing and are some of the nicest folks out there! The Tuna tostada is out of this world. My brain melted as I ate it. Truly a work of art. Grab yourself a delicious beer from Fair Isle then snag anything off the La Marea menu -- you can't go wrong. After visiting two days in a row, we're planning our next trip back to Ballard for our fix ;)

Yelp
I always preface by saying this: I lived in NYC for over 10 years and I think most Seattle restaurants are "meh" at best. I just had the aguachiles at the Seafood Festival....wow. It had a nice spice to it and sweetness of passionfruit-- and the team working was so nice. I'm so glad the festival featured local restaurants and pop ups so I can go back and enjoy in the future!

Yelp
Led here by a Seattle Times article that didn't quite do justice to just how yummy the creations really are. The tuna tostada was sold out, so I had the bay scallop ceviche which was divine. My daughter had some other concoction of forgotten name, but excellent flavors. We topped it off with a pumpkin paleta dessert. Go here, it's fantastic.

Yelp
Happened to be staying around the corner and was looking for something fresh and new (at least to me). My first time having uni and it was a stunner. Fresh, bright, just the right amount of brine, on a perfect tostada. Then, I just had to get in on the oysters as well. The last day both were being offered and I had 0 regrets getting both. A delightful amount of spice. Not too much but enough to know it's there and complement the flavors of everything else. Wash it down with a michelada and I was a very satisfied customer. An incredible meal done by a 2 person crew. Sat by the kitchen and got to talk with them as they slung so many plates of delicious food. I can't wait until I can come back and share this gem with others!

Yelp
Delicious! What Seattle has been missing . . . Amazing Mexican seafood. All the tostadas were incredible. You must try the tuna tostada! Honestly, this rivals what you get in Baja. Also love their habanero salsa . . Order as a side, you won't regret it!

Yelp
Just went here for the sandwich saga and I was blown away! Especially the tuna churro that thing was a dish to remember the rest of my life! I don't know if it was just a special but it should be regularly on the menu. The seafood dishes all tasted so fresh were creative without being pretentious, they were also very friendly. It is so fantastic! I wish they would open up a brick and mortar!

Yelp
Such fresh seafood and incredible flavors on their dishes (and very generous servings). Nothing better in Seattle and as good if not better than dishes I've had in CA.
