"The frescoes evoke the Mediterranean in this restaurant opposite the historic Odéon Theatre. The maritime inspired cuisine, in which particular attention is paid to first-class ingredients, is influenced by the sunny South of France. House specialties include bouillabaisse, carpaccio of seabass, honey-glazed seabream… Affordable menu, pricier à la carte offering." - Michelin Inspector

La Mediterranée Review - Fillmore - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"La Mediterranée is the spot to hit when you don’t care what you look like, but just need to eat some meat on a stick as soon as possible. The pomegranate chicken is a must, and the lamb meatballs and lentil salad should also be on your table. It’s a casual place for brunch or lunch on a sunny day with multiple street tables, but they also deliver in case you don’t want to leave your apartment. It’s some of the better and cheaper Mediterranean food you can get in the city, and it always comes through in a pinch." - Taylor Abrams

We came for the bouillabaisse and it was delicious. I really enjoyed them bringing additional servings of the soup base too when the soup part got low but we still had a lot of fish and potatoes left to eat. The aioli was tasty too! Also really enjoyed the radishes and butter to start. My one small complaint was that I didn’t get to taste my wine before it was poured.

Google
The Bib Gourmand is well deserved. All dishes were harmonious. Even the small details, such as the fresh baguette or the pastries served with espresso, were delicious. Add to that friendly, attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere.

Google
A very convincing performance. The marinated Saint-Jacques stood out for their freshness and precise seasoning. The daurade royale with girolles and artichauts was equally convincing, perfectly cooked, clean flavours, excellent produce. Desserts, notably the baba au rhum with vanilla chantilly and the Mont-Blanc coupe with meringue and marrons glacés, were classic and well executed. Attentive, discreet service in a cosy, elegant setting. A thoroughly satisfying experience, I would gladly return.

This restaurant is recommended by Michelle with 1 star and it got not that high rating with Google Map, so I decided to give it a try. And turn out it was so good. Almost every dish that we ordered was good. Especially like the Squid, the roasted chicken and the fish menu (i.e. fish soup, fish of the day and the dessert). We also try the osyter. Very tasty too. Service is good too.

Google
Wonderful seafood restaurant steps from the luxembourg garden. The service is great. The food is fresh and delicious. The bouillabaisse is simply divine!

Had a very quiet ambiance but loved the decor and furniture. Solid food and a good experience overall near the Medici Fontaine.

Our dinner was delicious (bouillabaisse, chocolate dessert, baba au rhum), but the service could have been better. Despite seeming to speak English, our waiter struggled to explain a couple of things – saying, for instane, that the mushroom appetizer, which we wanted to share, consisted of a single mushroom. True? We don't know as we did not order it. He also could not tell us if the fish in the bouillabaisse was cooked in the broth or separately (just for curiosity – as I said, it was good). Some service items were left on the table far too long after we were finished with them (an empty aperitif glass made it through the whole meal). And finally, the bouillabaisse took a l-o-o-o-o-n-g time to arrive, especially for something that was essentially cooked in advance. In all, pleasant but could have been better.

Google
One of the best restaurants in Paris! The seafood, their specialty, was absolutely delicious and fresh! Had a great time with wonderful food and nice people there.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner here, even though it was a bit pricey. Ambience can't be beat - right across from the Odeon, with beautiful murals on the walls - it reminded me of La Grenouille. Our food was excellent. We shared a delicious pissaladière, a steak and a perfect Dover sole. A pavlova and a glass of chartreuse ended the meal. We enjoyed the people watching, and our very serious, very French, very young server was delightful. One of the highlights of our trip.

Yelp
This restaurant was OK. Food was good but not Michelin star good. Wait staff was indifferent, robotic. Sitting outside in French restaurant is always touch and go because it seems like everyone in France smokes and it's almost inevitable you'll be sharing your meal with someone's second hand cigarette smoke wafting over to your table. I know it's not the restaurant's fault but they seated us outside and wouldn't move us inside, so they get dinged. Honestly, not a dining experience I would go out of my way to recommend when there are so many less expensive little cafes and bistros with waiters happy to see you close by. Literally hundreds.

Yelp
tl;dr: upscale, reasonable prices but awful food i came here with a few friends for dinner. we were seated immediately. the servers were nice but gave us a hard time when we told them that one of our party didn't want to eat anything. 3/4 of us were going to get the prix fixe menu, share the entrees/plats and give the fourth in our party all the desserts. they told us they would allow it this time but not next time. such a comment was strange and it only served to sour our experience. the entrees were good, not above average. the plats were another story. the place (supposedly) specializes in fish. as such, we ordered salmon, cod, and a fish soup (bouillabaisse). the fish soup was clearly made with old fish and the fish plats were overcooked. the place was nice and the menu was short and focused - usually signs of a good place. however, whoever is behind the kitchen is making textbook mistakes that can't be overlooked.

Yelp
I'd give it between 3.5 and 4 stars actually. We didn't go with their menu offer on 2 or 3 courses with few options on each course. We ordered a starter of sea bass carpaccio, special entree of 1 sole and 1 bouillabaisse. Sea bass carpaccio is absolutely amazing - one of the best we've had. The sole is pretty delicious too but it's also the most expensive one on the menu (so expected). However my bouillabaisse is not bad but also not too good. The portion is more than enough for me but the fish is a bit too "fishy".

Yelp
This is a classic seafood restaurant with a Michelin rating, in the heart of Paris. The fixed menu options, while affordable, are nowhere near as appealing as the full menu. We tried the tuna tartare; the daurade with polenta; the red mullet with tagliatelle; and another item as entrees. For dessert, the entremet au chocolat was delicious, as was the baba au Grand Marnier and tarte au citron. Service was kind and discreet; the place is quite fancy but not too stuffy.

Yelp
Beautiful presentation but so-so flavors. Full of classy old French people at lunch.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this spot while wandering the area near our hotel. Ambiance is welcoming as well as the staff. Knowing how to speak French is helpful but unnecessary. We were seated quickly and served quickly. I devoured the Puree de Pomme Terre (cod with mashed potatoes). If you're a pescatarian you may want to ask for this without the bits of ham. The entree melted in my mouth, texture and flavor were absolutely perfect, in my opinion. For desert, again, I devoured it, I had the Apple ginger Creme Brulee. Bursting with the right amount of flavor and texture you'll leave fully satisfied.

Yelp
Summary based on several dinners: --another place you might come for the ambiance (and the cool Cocteau designs), but only incidentally for the food --skate wing is good, bouillabaisse when I've had it has been non-traditional, but worth trying (to see if you like non-traditional) --used to dealing with those whose French is limited. Friendly. --ok for American kids 12+ I come here when staying in the immediate area, but it's probably not worth a long Metro ride

Yelp
Excellent seafood restaurant with great service. Arrived at 7:30 pm for early seating for 2 without reservation. The soup was very good served with a lobster butter. The cod with mashed potatoes and chorizo was excellent. Great service. I would make reservation if you want to eat late or have a party of 4. I would comeback!

Yelp
I was exploring Paris and between museum visits I had lunch in this very nice fish restaurant. I had a sea bream with spinach and mushrooms with a glass of white wine and enjoyed people watching in front of the Odeon. Fish was perfectly cooked and taste delicious. The place is a bit overpriced though, the check came as 52euros for water, fish and a glass of wine

Yelp
Absolutely the worst and most overrated meal I've had in Paris!! The Bouillabaisse was extremely fishy, the Red Mullet was also extremely fishy, we asked for a glass of champagne and they gave us the most expensive glass (+20 euro) they have on the menu, the "lamb" was 95% fat and extremely thinly cut. The service was extremely slow and rude! I would only return if someone else was paying (& I if I didn't like those who were paying). If I did like the people paying I'd suggest any Brasserie at any corner for better quality, service, & food. Good luck to all who enter!!

Joie J.

Yelp
I have always thought you could never have a bad meal in Paris - until I dined here. Boullibase was extremely fishy and salty. The sirloin was way overcooked, despite asking for it medium rare. Tough as shoe leather. We left our plates virtually untouched and our server never asked why. With all the wonderful restaurant choices in Paris, don't choose this one. So disappointing.

Yelp
Actually this is a 4.5 review. After visiting the Sorbonne, the Pantheon and the Luxembourg Gardens, we were ready for as nice lunch. The place I had on my short list turned not to be what we wanted. We asked a wine store employee for a seafood restaurant and he sent us here. It is located across the street from the Odeon Theater. Wonderful choice. Ambiance: very clean, well decorated restaurant. The room was a bit small but otherwise no complaints. It looked chi chi and expensive, yet casual. Service: was professional, helpful and efficient. Food: mostly seafood, fresh and creative. We knew we were going to have a big dinner that night, so we chose to share two starters and a dessert. We ordered the crispy calamari in a remoulade sauce and a number of small drops of tomato sauce. They split the dish in two for us. Basically, it was fried calamari and it was delicious. Next we ordered battered shrimp and deep fried lightly, similar to angel shrimp in Thai restaurants. Again, they split the dish. We enjoyed that very much. We finished with a dark chocolate cake presented in a round form. Awesome. They even split the one glass of red wine that we ordered. By splitting everything, we actually had more food/wine than if we ordered the usual way. The restaurant is expensive, it caters to an older crowd. We had a great lunch here and will recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
The food, particularly the desserts, is quite good-- but not stellar. The head waiter was exceptionally rude, only to switch gears just before the check. Atmosphere is cheerful but not comfortable, particularly in the side rooms.

Yelp
Went specifically for the bouillabaisse, which I've had on many other occasions. This was OK, but, in my opinion, not worth 35 euros. My wife's filet mignon was also OK, but it needed to be sent back because the first attempt came almost raw, after she had ordered it medium-rare. The very pleasant young lady that took the order back and looked in on us from time to time was helpful and welcoming. The head waiter, however, was somewhat snippy. The best part of the meal was the bread and the pretty setting. 84 euros for fair food is not a good deal. We won't be going back.

Yelp
I wanted to eat here after discovering the wait across the street was 45 min. looked at the menu and asked to be seated in or out. a very brash girl told me it was all reserved. in walking around the corner I saw at least 6 empty tables. many for 2. i was a single woman. I phoned and was told there was a half an hour wait. it was 1:30. they close at 2:30!! too bad. will the French never loosen up?

Yelp
Superb dining experience this time. We have been coming to Paris for a long time and have eaten here over the years at least half a dozen times with mixed levels of satisfaction. One constant though, is the space. You dine within a great work of art looking out upon the wonderful stone and light of Paris at night. What was markedly improved on this visit was the food. Super high quality fish and seafood, respectfully prepared with great care, conviction and cleverness not to mention deliciousness. On par in our opinion, with Le Bernardin and Nakazawa in New York. We were made to feel very welcome and treated well. As an opportunity for improvement though, wine service needs attention. Wines themselves were great and very fairly priced but the pour needs work.
