"La Mediterranée is the spot to hit when you don’t care what you look like, but just need to eat some meat on a stick as soon as possible. The pomegranate chicken is a must, and the lamb meatballs and lentil salad should also be on your table. It’s a casual place for brunch or lunch on a sunny day with multiple street tables, but they also deliver in case you don’t want to leave your apartment. It’s some of the better and cheaper Mediterranean food you can get in the city, and it always comes through in a pinch." - Taylor Abrams
"If you don’t want to go full-burger mode, but can’t sit forever, try La Mediterranee on Fillmore. This is one of our favorite places to get takeout, but it’s also great for a quick dinner pre-show. "At La Mediterranee, owner Der Bedrossian says the building's new landlord told them that when their lease expires the landlord will perform seismic retrofitting and then seek high-end retail tenants — a plan he called “disappointing.” The restaurant is one of several long-running Fillmore Street businesses caught up in a series of six building purchases between Pine and Clay streets (deals reported to total upwards of $40 million) made through connected LLCs; small business owners say negotiations over leases or buyouts with the new landlord have largely gone nowhere, raising fears the corridor could be reshaped for higher-end retail." - Dianne de Guzman
