First time going to La Mesa. We were there celebrating a Bachelorette. Coming from Bakersfield, and we had a blast! Let me tell you about it. Atmosphere. 10/10. They delivered! It transports you out of LA. Dining outside with the cool breeze, palm trees, and the fire dancers that showed their melodic moves over 4 times. One of the highlights of the evening. Great photo ops. Note: Make sure to confirm the music of the evening as it may not be your cup of tea. My girls and I grew up with 90s hip hop, so if that's your jam, you may want to enjoy a cocktail, dinner, and head out to the club. Service: 10/10. Our server was personable, took care of us all night, and did not skip a beat. Our libations were always full. She made us feel we were her only table. She was helpful with the menu giving suggestions. Drinks: 10/10. I think the mixed drinks may have been watered down unless you are my girlfriend that took it old school and ordered an Adios. Those of us from back in the day know what I mean. However, the old fashion was on point, and the espresso martinis provided the pick me up that you need to help you keep going. I do give them the full 10 because their shots were delicious. Ask for the grapefruit guava shot. Food: 10/10. Last but not least, the food was delicious. The orders are big enough to be shared. Best dishes were the cauliflower, corn niblets, NY Steak, and watermelon barata salad, to name a few. It's definitely a place to check out. Make reservations, and if you want to keep the table for the night, be prepared to pay. It is pricy but worth it. We were 11 girls, $1500 minimum.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this establishment, and we are exceedingly pleased with our decision to choose this particular venue. Our server, Laura, exemplified exceptional professionalism and exhibited a remarkable level of politeness throughout our visit. The ambiance of the restaurant was precisely attuned, striking a perfect balance between liveliness and serenity. Furthermore, the culinary offerings surpassed our expectations, as the food was undeniably delectable. We wholeheartedly endorse this establishment and highly recommend it to others seeking a remarkable dining experience.

Driving up to the building, i did not expect what insaw inside. Beautiful place the drinks and food were great the show during dinning is a great experience. Will definitely come back.

Went there on a Friday night it was dead. I don't know how busy it gets on Saturdays. We ordered the filet mignon tacos and it was great but not worth the price. The ambiance was great, such a vibe for a chill night. Music was all deep house not a dancing place.

Google
La Mesa restaurant and lounge is a great place to go out with friends or even alone and very beautiful people over there and great vibes and great music , compared to other places this place have a great sound that you really enjoying to be there , all the decoration text you back to Tulum Mexico. I just love that and highly recommend for people to go check it out. Drinks are not super expensive. The restroom is clean. I have never tried the food but I’m sure it’s good because when you walk in you understand how everything works so they gotta be perfect with the food next time I will try it Thank you..

We walked by this place accidentally during the day and were able to take a sneak peek of the venue while one of the doors stood open. It looked very interesting and one of the girls preparing the entrance suggested to return at ~7 PM when the place opens up and indicated a “Tulum / Mexico like experience”. We didn’t get disappointed. It really was a unique venue and a magical vibe. We had no reservation for the two of us, but the door policy seemed fair, particularly for a Saturday night. If you show up early, you should be able to get a spot. Inside is a tropical & open air paradise. We enjoyed every minute. What should be improved in my opinion: (1) the limit is 90 minutes and makes sense to free up space for other people, but maybe there could be a creative “extension option” of 20 minutes per every new order of drinks or whatever the “break even point” may be to justify a longer stay vs new guests (2) 20% service fee and 4% table fee is plenty. Where does that money go if it is NOT gratuity or tips as indicated on the bill? Why not bake it into the menu pricing if it is part of the experience? Feels weird and unnecessary for a classy place like this. Other than that: a fabulous place to enjoy a night in Tulum!

🪔Jungle-like 🌳 atmosphere and awesome vibes ⚡ The service is top-notch, with friendly staff from bartenders, waiters, and bussers. The food is a bit on the expensive side but worth it when the fire 🔥 show starts. The place becomes a nightclub after dinner. (unfortunately, I didn't stay until then, but definitely would do in the future) Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a fun and exciting evening in Los Angeles.

An absolutely amazing and unique experience. We went there with a group for the earlier round at 7PM. Their drinks are great, ambiance is fantastic but what I really didn’t expect was such great food. Definitely going back ans recommend to everyone!

Yelp
I was here when I attended the Los Angeles Architectural Awards on 11/16/23. Prior to the awarding ceremony, all attendees were gathered here for drinks. It was open bar but since I don't drink, I didn't even get near the bar but my friend said bartenders are very friendly. I had a good visual of the place even though it was very crowded that evening. They have a very nice decor which mimics a tropical atmosphere like the ones you see in Tulum. I'm not able to sample any food either so my review definitely needs an update when I dine in here.

Monica R.

Yelp
This place is definitely a vibe from Tulum. From the moment you walk in you're transferred into another world. My favorite part of this place outside of the ambiance is the fire dancer performance you guys every 45 minutes. I started off with the truffle fries and this was a hit. Their fries are super crispy and fresh perfectly salted. The truffle was slightly too salty for me but overall I recommend trying it. For dinner I had the cauliflower and my favorite part of this was the Miso Glazed with Tahini Sauce. The cauliflower was ok but this tahini glaze definitely saved it. Ask for extra! Overall, I recommend coming here on a date or with friends because you will have a great time!

Yelp
Fun and very entertaining restaurant! My girls brought me here to celebrate a belated birthday. It was amazing ! Ambience as soon as you walk in takes you to a vacation on a beach island. You're tempted to sit on the man made swing! Entranced by the decor they seat your table of course, with reservations. It's a timed dine time but the experience was phenomenal! The woman dancing with fire is magical! We ordered a little bit of everything ! Drinks were amazing! I think I had 1 way too many. We started with the oysters! Those were really fresh and delicious! We asked for extra hot sauce because you know, Mexicans love the Chile. Anyway we also got the guacamole of course, the hamachi and The truffle fries are a must, they were unbelievable!!! Those items I think were worth the mention! Definitely an experience! Reader beware, there is an additional table charge though. Happy birthday to me!

Yelp
Came here with a large party for a birthday dinner in the beginning of October. Our service was amazing, our waitress was very attentive and paid good attention to not only the needs of the birthday girl but the guests in attendance as well. The table ordered a variety of appetizers such as Hamachi, Chips the appetizers were average and enough for everyone to get just a taste. I ordered the Branzino and it was very tasty. The portions were smaller than I like and I wasn't full; but the dish was tasty nonetheless. I would say in terms of price v portion the branzino is a good order; some of the other dishes such as the lobster tagliatelle were too small to feel the price was worth it. Tasty but pricey. The place is beautifully lit, a bit humid, and definitely a nice vibe.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here on 9/23/23 with a group of 6 people. The valet was $20. There was no line, so we got in pretty quickly. We were greeted by the hostesses who quickly showed us to our table. Our table was by the DJ booth and in front of the action. We first took some photos and videos of this stunning place for the gram :) The ambiance was phenomenal, and had that Tulum vibe as described. It was more than I expected as it was so beautiful and the atmosphere was upscale/classy. The show was nice and they performed around 3-4x, as I recall. Service was quick, and our waitress was attentive to our needs. They have a mixed crowd with a majority of Persians who were friendly & fun. They had 2 DJs that night playing house music. Both got the crowd vibing, but the 2nd DJ was really good! Food was a hit & miss because of the new menu they were trying out according to them. My favorites were the NY steak, crispy cauliflower, and the fries included in the lobster roll (so crispy!). The group ordered all what's mentioned, plus the filet fish, guacamole with chips, short rib pasta with ragu, and oyster shrooms- with the last 2 being the least favorite. Drinks were a hit & miss as well when delivered to the table. It's best to go to the bar and see how the bartender pours your drink. They generously do it for you. They gave me a complimentary churro with ice cream for my birthday which I very much appreciated. The dining experience was supposed to be 2 hours only and you have to vacate the table for others. But we got to stay for the duration of the night. Lucky night, indeed! Price range for main entree ~$28 and up. Drinks $20. Service fee: 20%, table fee 3%, additional tip is requested but not mandatory. I informed my group of these ahead of time & we were prepared. Shout out to Brandon at the door, who kindly offered to snap some pics for me. And Anissa, the hostess who checked in on us on our way out to see how our experience went. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended & will be back.

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant that channels Tulum vibes. The food was good! Highlights were the middle eastern flatbread and the fattush salad. I would stay away from black angus sliders and the wine. The service was good! The only thing I didn't like was that we were seated all the way in the back where no one else was sitting. We felt isolated and then had to keep getting up to walk to the middle of the restaurant to see the entertainment. Must do- take pictures on the swing!

Brittany I.

Yelp
I don't know which was better, the vibe or the food! Very nice intimate setting. From the tuna tacos, to the tuna tataki, to the bass. Oh yeah, can't forget that guacamole with the perfect amount of salt on the chips. If I didn't live so far, I would double back tomorrow LITERALLY! Everything I ordered did not disappoint not 1 bit. The live performance made me feel like I was on vacation in the middle of Tulum sipping on a margarita! Take if from me, you need to go ahead and add this to your To-Do-List.

Kerry M.

Yelp
Went for my Birthday. Great ambiance. Suggest doing the appetizers as tapas if with a group. Great entertainment with the fire dancer.

Neda K.

Yelp
A great place to celebrate my friend's birthday! However we weren't aware of an additional charge for having a table ....would have been nice to know! Drinks were ok....dinner portions small...ended up with a hefty bill!

Azadeh V.

Yelp
Is this restaurant permanently closed? They don't answer their phone and you can't make a reservation.

Dee M.

Yelp
They never answer the phone or Instagram msg. When contacting them via email- they still don't answer all the questions. I do not understand why it's so hard to answer simple questions such as minimum charge and service for large groups? So unprofessional. I tried to book this restaurant two years ago and again this year and still can't. There's plenty of LA restaurants with a vibe and entertainment! Go elsewhere

Christine N.

Yelp
Would skip for the night. Came here excited to celebrate a Birthday and made reservations 3 weeks in advance. Valet is $20, but you can park across the street. When we arrived we were seated towards the exit, so we did not have a view of the fire show. Once seated, we were told it was a 2 hour time limit, no problem, however our server did not arrive to take our drink order for a full 30 minutes and then said they weren't aware we were there when we went looking for service??! The bar area has no seating, and is solely for wait staff to pick up their drinks - so if you arrive early you are standing waiting for your party to arrive. Its a Mexican theme restaurant but the DJ only plays techno/house all night. Food was not impressive, and took a long time to arrive. Fries were excellent. I would skip this place altogether and go to Alma instead, they know what they are doing and the bar is amazing.

Sydney D.

Yelp
I have never been to a supper club and this experience was AMAZING. The overall aesthetic was beyond amazing. The food absolutely delicious. The server wasn't as tentative to our table however in her defense there were live shows going on and since our table was right in the center it was hard to navigate through. Over all 10/10 experience and I will be telling everyone to come here !!!!

Carol J.

Yelp
Absolute euro trash and garbage clientele. Aggressive security and a Manager who can't face an unhappy patron. Music way too loud for a stadium let alone a venue near a hotel. Tried to order food but kitchen closed an hour after opening. Surly staff. Valet took an hour and gave keys to my friends Porsche to a random Russian dude "accidentally".

Yelp
Beware of La Mesa Restaurant and Lounge. My friends and I visited on Saturday, August 19th for drinks and light bites after dinner. Jade, our server, attempted to steal my friend's card under the pretense a customer picked up the card and stole it. However, she picked up the check from our table and charged the card as proven by my friend's bank alert. I guess she thought we would be too naive and drunk to remember that after one drink. Once we threatened to call the authorities, her card miraculously appeared. There's really no excuse for this, and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. If you frequent this place, please use fraud protection as their servers will try to take advantage of you.

Julian L.

Yelp
The pasta was the best I've ever had The tacos are REALLY small but good. The drinks are good and interesting presentation considering most of them are served lit on fire. The cake for dessert was the best thing I've ever eaten and so cute. SO SO GOOD LA MESA RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE

Elize C.

Yelp
If you want to experience Tulum in Hollywood then this is the place for you. Since they don't have a sign, it's a little confusing to find. It is valet only but there are a couple parking garages down the street (of course at a hefty price and bring walking shoes because the sidewalks are off-roading vibes). Food was surprisingly good and if you make your reservations closer to 9pm they have a DJ and open the dancing floor. Reason for 3 stars: wait staff was not friendly, parking is a hassle, limited selection of food, drinks were watered down https://www.instagram.com/reel/CkcaEFxAuP3/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

Elvira A.

Yelp
Love the dinner and the whole experience with the music. The only thing I can say that the music was a bit loud to hear my conversation with my partner. Other then that I absolutely love the food.

Stefani L.

Yelp
My girls and I were excited to go celebrate my birthday here! It looked amazing. To start off they sat us down in the far corner where they had the cart of dirty dishes!!! We couldn't even see the "show"! My friend payed and sent a cake & sent roses & no one even said anything about it or brought them out!! I had to tell them about it!! And they took 30 min after we paid to get them! Over all horrible

Ardalan A.

Yelp
Our experience at La Mesa restaurant was terrible. We had a reservation at 9:15 to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived at 9 and had to wait until 9:40 to be seated. The same blonde girl who had shown us to our table returned after 5 minutes and told us that we had to pay now, and leave in 5 minutes due to reaching the 2-hour limit in the restaurant!!!! I told her that we hadn't even received our drinks yet, and she had just seated us 5 minutes ago!!! She returned to confirm that we were correct and that she had made a mistake!!!! A great start to celebrate our night! We couldn't really enjoy the show either, because despite making the reservation a week in advance and specifying our anniversary, the table they gave us had no view of the show! The food quality is ok, but you would expect much better considering the price range. The truffled cauliflower was good, but the truffle pasta seemed to be made with grocery store sauce, and the salmon was chewy. In addition to this, they charge a 20% service fee and a 3% table fee before the tip. Overall, our experience there was terrible due to the poor service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Darla S.

Yelp
Really cool, open decor. feels like a little oasis in hollywood. did not get a photo on the cool swing you sew when you walk in Latin/Castilian Portuguese? style menu. The music is ethnic beat, latin, asian. Frankly, its a little mixed up. Floor show every hour or so features extremely sexy very scantily clad female fire dancers - their routine, kinda cool- but again - not sure what style, tradition its supposed to be. really mixed up - and not in that 'fusion' kind of way. Just doesn't know its identity. Drink menu is fantastic. Oaxacan mezcal was nice the juice is a perfect blend. The service was ok. ordered wine - dont bother- they didn't know what was what and two red bottles arrived warm (like, literally warm) another red bottle was put on ice before it could be served - and then the servers left us hanging. ordered a Malbec- came out a little better temp. was def. the best of the three. the food was ok. interesting mix. steak arrived proper temp. truffle fries had some sliced 'truffle' on top- didn't taste like any truffle we've had a s was wet like a canned mushroom sea bass and mash potatos- not cold, but def. not hot : and the presentation (while they tried) looked a bit sloppy. salmon was okay. looked a little undercooked- but friends said it was ok . at 10pm sharp- the music went from 10 to 20 and the club/lounge scene was on. we waited quite a bit for our check... for party of six, rightfully added the gratuity - but at a full 20% i'm usually pretty generous , but 15-17% was really what it should have been. overall, Cool vibe, but not worth the money for dinner service. eat elsewhere come and clubbing after 10pm. oh, big bathroom- old. seemingly the only place they didn't give the 'mixed up identity' remodel to.

Maria G.

Yelp
Beautiful!...the place is just breathtaking, it is one of the best places I have gone to have dinner and then enjoy the lounge with music and drinks. The food and drinks are delicious. They have a life saxophonist playing music and going around your table, making the ambience, more attractive. Our host that day was amazing, she was a celebrity from reality show and as soon as we recognize her she was so gracious and even took a picture with us. They have this beautiful girls doing a fire show that is just hypnotizing. It is definitely a place you need to try if you are ever in LA. No

Mona S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in LA! The best ambience you can find! I don't know where people that left bad reviews have dined before, but it's very standard having to tip in LA also their pricing is very standard for Hollywood restaurants. The food needs a little improvement but I always have the best time when I go to La Mesa. Highly recommended!

Bryan M.

Yelp
Outdoor dining with the feel of indoors in LA. Great drinks and plenty of food options for all ages and preferences! Book ahead of time or go early because it will get packed early.

Richard G.

Yelp
The crudo dish I experienced was a culinary masterpiece. The thinly sliced raw fish, paired with a drizzle of exquisite olive oil and delicate herbs, showcased a perfect harmony of flavors. The freshness of the ingredients was palpable, delivering a clean and briny taste that was both refreshing and indulgent. The dish was a true celebration of simplicity, allowing the quality of the seafood to take center stage. Each bite was a revelation, highlighting the chef's expertise in handling raw ingredients. This crudo dish is a must-try for those who appreciate the artistry of raw cuisine.

Reham A.

Yelp
The vibe is great..The cocktails were good..The food was OK overpriced though..They will charge you 20% service fee and 3% table fee and expect you to pay tips! I don't think I will come back. Paid almost 300$ for 2 entries and 2 cocktails!!!

D F.

Yelp
Beware of this place. We had bottle service for New Year's Eve and end of the night when we were tipsy, signed and left. Well they overcharged us. When I contacted them and complained they said they will issue a partial refund and never did.

Lenny K.

Yelp
Great ambience, great service, great tasting food, perfect spot to celebrate special occasions, dj set is to die for.

Lola A.

Yelp
I love this place good is amazing as well as service the music is a total vibe came here for a friend's birthday and our service was amazing

Mel K.

Yelp
Don't go for nye! There was no count down which was extremely disappointing.Only djs and no live shows or entertainment like they usually have like the fire dancers and ect.Only dj and nothing special.I was so surprised that there was not a countdown at midnight.Wont go back for NyE specially if you are paying 2500 for a table you expect a little more than just a casual night.I went to la mesa before and it was so entertaining with dancers and ect.Nothing special for nye wouldn't go back nye again

Moti A.

Yelp
This place is literally one min away from my home. It's a great place to celebrate with friends, their food is pretty good and it's highly recommended to stop by on a Friday or Saturday.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The food is good quality and it has a good taste . The seats, should be changed to regular chairs . Service was not good. The portions of the food are small . The ambiance they have 3 shows where women come out to dance for only 3 minutes . They charge you a table fee of $ 70 (gratuity not included ). The drinks do feel water down .

Little P.

Yelp
You have to wait outside while the place is clearly empty. The drinks are way over priced and it was so hot inside but they still had the heating lamps ablaze. Not worth it, crappy experience, won't be returning.

Desiree W.

Yelp
The food is trash. Please go somewhere else it's overly priced. I ordered gnocchi that was supposed to have cream. It's legit gnocchi with sour cream and pepper. The guacamole and chips....YOU GET 6 CHIPS for 18 dollars. The food is below average I think the best thing I had was the fries.

Darlyn I.

Yelp
Honestly don't waist your time in this fckig place. Is horrible, the service and food. Not a good vibe at all. I had heard so many things about this place and I was so disappointed. I never felt so discriminated in my entire life by the staff.

Brittnay W.

Yelp
ambiance and vibe were good food could have little more season (wagyu sliders) but truffle fries and salmon was really good.
