Where to Drink Cocktails in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"La Metro brings the energy of a loud, buzzy Spanish mercado to Ponce City Market, serving pintxos, tapas, drinks, and more seven days a week. The cocktail menu, created by Jose Pereiro (AKA the Cocktail Shaker), pays homage to Spain’s legendary bar culture with drinks like the Golden Martini — inspired by Madrid’s renowned 1862 Dry Bar — along with classics like the Adonis (medium sherry, sweet red vermouth, and bitters), a Malaga Spritz, a refreshing gin & tonic, and sangria made with macabeo (a white wine grape variety commonly cultivated in Spain’s Rioja region), fresh fruits, brandied fruits, and spices. Occasional flamenco performances add to the experience, transporting diners to Spain." - Allison Ramirez

great service and cool atmosphere although table spacing is tight if you dine in. Food was delicious but every dish I tried seemed to be a little salty. The fries were amazing!!

Located insde the Ponce City Market, La Metro serves up delicious Spanish food. The food really tasted like authentic spanish food! The staff was very kind and patient, we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Definitely recommend trying!

The restaurant is located inside the food hall of Ponce City Market, on Level 1, near Ton Ton Ramen and the Williams-Sonoma store. There are limited indoor seats, which include bar seating and some outdoor seating (still within the food hall). The restaurant is small but well-decorated with Spanish-inspired decor. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It also helps that they display actual menu items behind a glass shelf, so you can see what the food looks like. The only issue is that most of the display dishes are above eye level and are partially obscured by a black chalkboard with the dish names. The chalkboard covers half of the food display, and for shorter people like me, it’s hard to see the food at all. I had to sit on a bar stool just to get a glimpse of it. The food is tasty and served in tapas style. I don’t think the prices are unreasonable, as long as you avoid the tinned seafood, which the restaurant is known for. I went there specifically to try the tinned seafood. They offer both tinned fish and tinned shellfish. There are three ways to enjoy the tinned seafood: you can buy the can as-is and eat it fresh from the can or take it home; they can give you crackers to eat with it; or you can choose the “Chef it Up” option, where the chef prepares it for you with an additional $12 fee. I chose the third option, where the chef prepared the tinned shellfish with olive oil, minced garlic, and garnishes. The tinned razor clam cost $30 and was served in a small portion, making my dish total $42. While the tinned razor clam tasted fine, I didn’t feel it was worth the price. Aside from the tinned seafood, the rest of my order was good. The restaurant has a full bar, so they were able to make me a fruity mocktail, which we enjoyed. Our meal included: - Tinned razor clam with Chef It Up: The portion was too small, and the flavor didn’t impress. - Bocata Jamón (cured ham and pressed tomato sandwich): My boyfriend really enjoyed the sandwich. - Basque cheesecake: A soft and refreshing dessert. Note: If you order the sandwich during lunch hours, the sandwich is smaller but includes fries. If you order it outside of lunch hours, the sandwich is larger but doesn’t come with fries. Overall, we had a good experience.

Honestly....I wish I had spent more of my money on Cava and Patatas than the Chicken Joint Across the aisle. The GILDA OG was being the OG! And yeah I know, Sardines, never had them before until this place and it's the stuff you see in old school cartoons. I was not disappointed in trying this offering😋😋 if you wanna try something new and love salty yet balanced things then definitely order this. Then come back for some Happy Hour and you're gonna be bubbly and light on the rest of the journey at this shopping place. I got my money's worth and was satisfied and filled on 2 glasses of Cava with the Patatas! Take my money! The staff made it that much more memorable the next time I'm back in ATL I'm definitely dragging the gang here to start the day right. They knew what they were talking about, answered all questions, and are just what you would hope for when trying a new dining thing.

Lauren was an amazing bartender! The food and drinks were excellent! Lauren definitely knows her way around an espresso martini!

I love the country of Spain and it's food. My wife and I have traveled there many times. This place is as good if not better than any Spanish tapas you'd find in Madrid, Barcelona or Pinxtos is Donostia. It's certainly more authentic than anything Barcelona or Cooks and Soldiers are doing. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Food was good but Portion size for $22, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it, I had to ask.

Will be back! Great tortilla and café con leche🤩 For my birthday I first stopped by the sister location, El Super Pan, for a beef pastellita (a very tasty treat). It is a bar, so no coffee. The Chef happened to be over there and told me I could get a cafe con leche at his restaurant across the way. He walked me over and directed me through as they were in the process of setting up for the days' service. The staff and chef were more than gracious and accomodative. They whipped up my cafe con leche and packed my tortilla to-go. I'm ready to return soon. Thank you so much!!

Yelp
I had a fantastic dinner at La Metro when I visited during a business trip in mid-December 2024, and I want to make sure people know about this great spot. I am not in Atlanta frequently, but when I go I like to spend one night at Ponce City Market, trying a few of its good restaurants. La Metro hadn't been there last time I was in town, so when I walked by and saw the good food I decided to look for. The atmosphere was fun and inviting, and the server behind the counter was very friendly and came out to answer my questions about the different tapas available. I had planned on grabbing one dish for a quick bite but was having a good time and not in a hurry so I decided to make a meal of it. And I'm very glad I did! I ordered Pinchos de Hongos (skewers of tasty cooked mushrooms on slices of toasted bread), Montadito Salmon Lomo (a small open faced sandwich with endive, cured salmon loin, salsa tartara), Montadito del Dia (the daily special sandwich), a slice of Basque Cheesecake, wine, and one other dish. I'm not a tapas expert but I am sort of a foodie, and I enjoyed everything. Besides those items, the other dish I had was specially prepared, so let me describe that a bit. A photographer whose YouTube channel I follow was gushing about the sardines he had when he took his mother to Spain, so I wanted to make sure to have them. One thing they do at La Metro that I'd never seen before is offer a curated selection of high quality items in jars and tins for sale that you can of course bring back home to prepare yourself, but also pay the chef to prepare for you to dine right there, in a fashion he judged to be delicious. I thought this sounded really cool, so I asked for a tin of "Real Conservera 1902 Small Sardines." The chef prepared these in a hearty but not overwhelming sauce that really complemented the fish and some lovely very crunchy croutons/crostini - served right in the tin! I only wish I was a good enough cook to figure out how he made it, it was really good. I see some other commenters are writing about slow service. That was not my experience. I sat at the bar and although the staff were busy and getting busier, someone was pretty much always available when I had a question, or even if I just wanted to gush about the delicious food. Certainly there were instances where, for example, the bartender was working on something else and didn't catch my eye the minute I hoped to order a drink, but this all seemed just the normal "sometimes you get slammed" sort of thing that can happen during dinner service - sometimes its your turn, and sometimes you have to wait a bit. As I say, this was just my experience, but I'd rate the service very good. And for someone like me who happened to be dining alone, I was really happy that everyone was so friendly. During dinner I was sending pictures of the food to my wife back home, who was getting jealous. So next time it'll have to be the two of us! Hoping that is soon!

Yelp
Went last Friday with two other and ordered three tapas. The pan con tomate was really spicy for my taste, the patatas bravas were spicy too but more tolerable since that's what you can expect from the patatas bravas and the croquetas were good, not my favorites, but better than the other things we ordered. Food took really long to come, even though we ordered through the take-out counter and later decided to sit down. Another waiter came to our table while we were waiting and we had to tell him that we were still waiting for our order. Even the drinks took a long time to come. If you want good Spanish food, I wouldn't choose this place as a first option.

Yelp
I visited La METRO with my wife and two of our friends this past weekend. We were looking to try somewhere new, and we came across this restaurant on Instagram and TikTok as a new Tapas bar in Midtown. We instantly gravitated towards it and called to make a reservation. We were unable to make a reservation online, so I called in and made a reservation. We got there and were seated instantly. We had a reservation for 6:30, and it was nice to know that they have a happy hour from 4PM -7PM every day. It includes a glass of wine for $5, a small beer for $3, and patatas for $5, and you can choose your sauce. The beer is a slim beer, so not too big. The wine is a pretty decent sized glass, but smaller than average. And the patatas is honestly a pretty big portion! We then looked over the menu and all got things to share. It's a tapas restaurant, so everything on the menu is designed to share, which is nice, cause there were 4 of us, and we all wanted to try different things. We got the patatas, pan con tomate, bok choy, shrimp al ajillo, chicken a la plancha, croquetas jamon, and the tasting board. Everything tasted SO GOOD. The dish that I really enjoyed was the bok choy. It had this spicy chili crispy and tasted soooo good. I had never really had anything like that before. The chicken a la plancha was really flavorful too. Honestly, everything we got was very tasty! The tapas come out as ordered, which was nice, cause we were all so hungry. They have a pretty big food menu, so you will definitely find something you like. Our server was EXCELLENT. His name was Javier. He was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He was quick to clear empty cups/plates, and always was checking on us. He was a great server to us! La METRO is a great place to go with some friends or even on a date night. I do want to note that there aren't a lot of tables inside the restaurant itself. The four of us shared this smaller round table, which was quite small, but it did the job. There was a shelf with hooks behind us, so we could place all our jackets and purses (for the girls.) I also do suggest making a reservation as well, especially if you go on the weekend. We went on a Friday night, and it was PACKED. As for parking, this restaurant is located inside Ponce City Market, so you need to pay for parking. I don't believe any of the restaurants validate parking at all, so keep that in mind. I look forward to coming back here in the future and trying more delicious Spanish tapas!!

Yelp
Came here for dinner and happy hour on a Friday. We were seated right away. They have $5 patatas bravas and $5 cava. We also got the croquettes, the albondigas and the cannelloni. All were great! Love this new spot in ponce as a more formal option.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in yesterday for a drink and a couple tapas. All of the food was DELICIOUS! We will definitely be back! The service was great too, our server was knowledgeable and attentive. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Went with a girlfriend after work. Located by Williams Sonoma in PCM, La Metro serves Spanish tapas, dishes, and cocktails. We enjoyed the sangria, happy hour cava($5), Patatas Bravas, house martini, chicken empanadas, fried sunchokes, and grilled chicken. The servings were huge! Everything was delicious. The empanadas were the favorite with a flaky crust. Parking at PCM.

Yelp
A buzzy little Spanish spot in the heart of PCM, La Metro is a new favorite. I usually don't expect too much from food hall restaurants, but I found La Metro to exceed its location and really shine. We stopped in for a weekend lunch and took a cafe table by the bar. We started with drinks - her golden martini was perfect, while my G&T was one of the better in town, lightly scented, sweet, and studded with spicy black peppercorns. For tapas, we went with the delicious patatas bravas, which were shaved thin making for a nice crunchy bite, the hearty albondigas, and the spicy pan con tomate. The winner for me, however, was the coliflor, lightly roasted and served on a bed of salty and spicy salsa verde. The perfect, light bite to go with your cocktail. La Metro will have me returning to the Market again and again.

Yelp
Authentic Spanish tapas and pintxos. Feels very much like Madrid. And the Mahou beer on tap is cold and delicious.

Yelp
I walked by this place while in the food hall, and the way it smelled made my mouth water. I had to come back and follow my nose to figure out what smelled so incredible, and it was this place. It has a beautiful stained glass window inside. The woman working the front was so kind and helpful. I got a mushroom dish and it was delicious. Well cooked, good portion for the price.

Yelp
Our party of 5 dropped in for a late lunch and expected reasonable service since the tables were largely vacant and the four visible staff members didn't appear to be busy, unfortunately this was not the case. The service was horrible and poorly orchestrated. Some drinks came out, including a few waters, painfully dragging on for the remainder. The food wasn't much better. The large charcuterie plate we ordered lacked flavor and imagination. Hopefully these issues can be worked out since the vibe and concept is something that people would enjoy.

Connor B.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was on par with the quality of the food. Javier took amazing care of us. One of the best upcoming spots in ATL.
