A sprawling Latin market with a cafeteria‑style taqueria and tortillas pressed on a mechanized comal. Featured in 225 Magazine’s taqueria guide, it’s a go‑to for authentic tacos and pantry staples under one roof.

Google
This is my 2nd time giving them a chance. They're just icy here and the employees found things to look at in the sky, on the ground, through me and around me to not speak to me. Puedo hablar Español y Inglés. The Chiles rellenos at the food court are really greasy and unseasoned. Great prices on fresh, beautiful produce, though!

It was great and cheap, be ware of the mini bar though; it has a sensor that charged me 240 every time I moved something. $240 a few 2-3 dollar drinks and it had no sign.

Friendly staff. Decent selection of produce and meats. Prices are a bit high on some things but that's par for the course since they aren't a big box retailer. Great bakery! Fluffy and buttery croissants. I come here all the time to get tangerines and grapefruits. The tangerines can be hit or miss but are excellent when in season. It's the only place near me that stocks Goya Sabor a Jamon which is a must have.

Google
Great service. Great people. Some of the best food in town right here.

Google
This is a nice Mexican food store. Vegetables are fresh. Meat section has all kinds of meat. The staffs are nice, they are very poor in english. Getting help is difficult bcz of the language barrier. The prices are reasonable. Also, it is in a good location.

Go for the food. Look around. Such interesting things. The fruit always looks great.

Google
Best tacos around BR are found here, everything fresh & made in store. Fantastic variety of produce and spices. Have bakery & meat counter in store also. Saved lots of money shopping for produce here. Can't wait to try their cakes.

Google
This place has seriously gone down hill. Carne asada and al pastor tacos are super overcooked and very dry. Tortillas are stale. Couldn’t even eat 1 of the 3 tacos I ordered. My whole family used to be a frequent customers but we will not be returning.

Yelp
I am so happy that I got a chance to try a new market! They have a large parking lot, that's shared with a hair store. There doesn't seem to be too much traffic so you could easily get in and out of here. The store itself isn't anything fancy, but it is authentic. The veggie selection is awesome, they're not selling all of your normal staples but what they do have is of good quality. They have a wide variety of fresh and dry peppers for such a good price. Beautiful bunches of cilantro not like you get at the regular grocery store. A large variety of yogurts. Their meat counter is huge, and reasonably priced. They have fresh corn tortillas . A wide variety of soda. The best part you ask? The deli counter, they have Tortas, quesadillas, flautas, and TACOS ! They're massive too! We got Pastor tacos and they were amazing, and at the end they will load the tacos with onions cilantro salsas and guacamole! For $1.99 a taco you can't beat it!

Yelp
Love authentic foods so I decided to try the taqueria thats located inside of La Morenita. This is a great opportunity to spruce up on your Spanish as most of the employees did not speak english and the menu is in Spanish too! Nonetheless, the staff was very friendly and served large portions. I got the fajita platter with steak, beans, rice and 5 tortillas on the side. They have a self serve station where you can put your toppings (the salad thats included in the price) and sauces in containers. The food was hot, fresh and flavorful. I did not care so much for the steak. It was more like steakums with few peppers and onions. But this won't deter me from coming back to try some other meat/menu options!

Yelp
A hidden gem of Baton Rouge! Excellent prices and a clean and tidy store. I came ijust to find some dried chiles (which I was blown away by the variety of!) and left with bags full of produce. Avocados, limes, plantains, cilantro, mangos....all amazing! Definitely going to be incorporating into my regular grocery rotation. I was a little intimidated because my spanish is only so so, but the staff is friendly and helpful. The kind of place i Stan so hard I'll be recommending it to anyone who listens!I

Yelp
I would recommend this establishment to my out of town family and friends. The service was good, The food that l ordered upon the waitress recommendation was delicious. Truest enjoyed the Key Lime pie for dessert. Because of St. Patrick Day, l presume, it was crowded and the noise level was higher than normal for an establishment like this. Overall, l give it 4 stars.

Yelp
La Morenita has become a place to cure my craving for good Latin American food. Inside the grocery is a deli area where you can walk thru a hot plate line. Fresh corn tortillas are cranked out by a machine. You can eat in or get your food to go. The grocery portion of the store is full of other goodies like pastries, canned goods, mixes and hot sauces. All are from Latin American cultures. Not everyone working here is a fluent English speaker. However, everyone is friendly and helpful. It should also be noted you can even buy cases of Topo Chico!

Yelp
Best tacos in the city. I used to get my tacos from La Tiendita on Siegen... that was, until I was turned on to this place. Their tacos are so indescribably delicious, complete with grilled onions, jalapenos, and garnishes. Grab an icy-cold Jarritos or other Mexican beverage from the cooler, relax, and enjoy a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Best tacos in Baton Rouge. I've tried so many food trucks, restaurants, supermarkets--and this place is delicious. The meats are so flavorful. Go get some!

Yelp
I come here often as they are one of the few places in town with Hispanic foods and hard to find ingredients. They have malanga, Yuka, cactus, and many other things. The also have meat and cold cold deli. It's definitely my go to for Hispanic snacks and candy! The only reason it gets just 4 stars is because the place could be cleaner.

Yelp
I had my first visit here with coworkers and we all 4 had a good experience. The produce looks great but I have not purchased yet. Between my coworker an I we tried about 4 pastries and if u like pudding filling and sweet bread it's for you! All looking and tasting fresh. I enjoyed a taco lunch (pork) with soda for $8 something. Communication for me was a challenge but my coworker who is more direct was able to point to what meat she wanted and did just fine. So I had the pork and others had beef and chicken. All were good and tender with flavor! They have toppings like salsas and tomatoes. No shredded cheeses that I saw. I hear they have queso and so much more that u may not see so I am going to return! Stay tuned!

Yelp
Most authenitic Mexican tacquiera in Baton Rouge. Cheapest vegetables in town. While Albertson's is selling bell peppers for $1.50 this shop is $.69. Want a red pepper at Albertson's... you're talking $2.50; this place... $.79. If you're looking for grey poupon this is most definitely NOT the place for you. If you are looking for napoles and chiccarones, Menudo, Posolle, Caldo des Res y Caldo de Pollo (only Caldo des Res Monday through Friday - weekends everything else) WELCOME HOME! After 9 years of living in the barrio of South Phoenix, I'd thought all I'd ever get in Baton Rouge as far as Mexican food went was Panchos Mexican Buffet or "Mexican-Cajun fusion" (a HORRIBLE combination by the way) stuff. If you want authentic Mexican food staples or products... or even want just an ACTUAL BUTCHER who will cut your meat to specidification... bienviendos La Morenita!

Yelp
LOVE this place. I get genuinely excited to explore the store and indulge in some authentic DELICIOUS food. More than you can eat for a very fair and WORTH IT price!!! Everyone is super friendly here... They'll really go out of their way for you.

Yelp
So glad I finally stopped here. Fairly large with wide variety and selections. I was impressed with their prices on produce, their meat selection and prices, and unique products hard to find at other places (i.e.: Malta, Horchata, hot sauces, fresh baked sweet breads, etc.) I was excited about their drink selections like Guava Passion juice, toasted coconut juice, etc :) will be back !

Yelp
Small chain with great Mexican products, jarritos, produce, a whole section of chicharonnes, and an extensive meat market. Exotic vegetables as well as cheese, a bread section (panderia). There'a a taqueria on the left that will serve platillos of tacos with rice and beans and a salad or just 1.99 individual tacos.

Yelp
Love this place! Coming from Houston where our Hispanic products can be found abundantly, we were very pleased to find a wide selection and good prices on produce. Best avocados in town!

Yelp
Came here today to get some ingredients for some dishes I was going to make this weekend. My husband is Puerto Rican and so we make a lot of typical PR dishes. La Morenita had all the ingredients we needed! Haven't bought any meat yet but the selection was amazing. Right at 12 there was a long line for the taqueria--can't wait to try those next time. This place was clean, the cashiers friendly, and the produce and meat fresh. We definitely will be returning.

Yelp
Not the best service or tacos it's deli style and just over priced I wouldn't pay money here for tacos just not what I expected it to be

Yelp
This is a probably close to a real authentic Hispanic market and Mexican food you'll get to put here. Fresh meat, fruits and vegetables at a good price not to mention the various types of cooked food . I'll be back for sure.

Claire R.

Yelp
Go here for tacos and fresh authentic Mexican food. The market is fun to puruse as well.

Yelp
Its like walking into a whole other world at this place. The other reviews are right about the affordable prices and great selections of food!

Shannon T.

Yelp
I went here to purchase a specific produce item but I only speak English. The staff wouldn't even try to help me. Very disappointing. I understand there's a disconnect but they could have attempted to help at least. Just kept saying "no". Pretty ridiculous.

Yelp
I am not one for giving out 5 stars but this place is off the chain. Prices are excellent and their selection of Latin cuisine food stuffs is unrivaled by any place in Baton Rouge or anywhere close to here. Their deli area is great and the meat market is a place you have to see for yourself and don't get me started on the bakery. I went in for a bottle of Jarritos and walked out a fan for life.

Yelp
Their front doors are kept open while the store is open - I guess they are broken. Therefore, the temperature inside the market is very, very warm. NONE of the employees were wearing a face mask, most importantly, no one in the meat dept. was wearing a face mask. Also, the food displayed in the "food to go" dept. looked old. They had an aluminum foil tray on a countertop filled with one plastic bag of corn tamales, I guess for customers to just grab and go. That has to be against food temperature sanitation rules since they looked warm due to the steam building up in the bag. That was very unsanitary. I saw that and looked at the hot food behind the glass display and lost my appetite completely. Very gross. For the store being in the state capital, you'd think they would follow the governor's orders for all businesses dealing with the public to have employees wear a face mask. There were a lot of fruit flies in the produce dept. That is very unhygienic. I've gone to their other store in Scott, LA, and that place is kept clean and cool. I was very disappointed with the lack of quality control of this supermarket. What was interesting is that they require customers in the check out lanes to follow social distancing rules yet not a single employee was wearing a mask. This was on Sunday, June 28th, 2020. Several customers wore masks. I will never return to this store again - it is kept too hot inside, lots of fruit flies in the produce dept (which will come home with you), and it is unkempt all round. I'm Mexican American and I was very disappointed with this store. It's like the owners don't give a damn about this store. I guess I'll be going to another competitor's Latin market. Don't bother shopping here. It's disgusting.

Yelp
they won't help you if you don't speak english won't even try just "no" "no" "no" they don't care it's ridiculous i asked multiple people if they had bonnet scotch peppers and i kept getting "no" "no" "no" i even showed them a picture of it so i gave up f them.

Yelp
This is about the best place I've found in town for any sort of Mexican or Latin American grocery or food needs. The grocery store area is impressive in size and variety, with excellent prices on most items. Sale items tend to be unbelievable deals. The bakery area is even better - dozens of types of breads and pastries baked fresh daily and I haven't found a single one that wasn't up to par. The pastries are mostly .79 a piece, and the bread are 3/$1. And the bread is absolutely delicious. The meat counter takes up the whole back wall and has just about everything you could want. My favorite part, however, is the taqueria. They have a great selection of foods and they're all fresh and hand-made. I can't say I've tried everything on the menu (yet), but I have tried about half of it and haven't been disappointed so far. All of the meats have been great so far but the deshebrada has been my favorite, closely followed by the chicken. The beans are a little bland, but I've found if you leave those off the plate then they will load it up with more meat. The plates are huge and come with tortillas so realistically 2 people can go here and eat for like $10, and probably still have leftovers. It's a good thing this place is across town for me or I'd be here every day.
