The 18 Best Restaurants In Trastevere - Rome - The Infatuation

"Good porchetta should have a crispy crust, juicy meat, and the ability to make you swear off all other pork. That’s exactly what you'll find at Iacozzilli, a pork butcher shop that’s the self-proclaimed "Porchetta King of Trastevere" (and we wholeheartedly agree). Come by first thing in the morning so you can taste it hot and crackly right out of the oven. On your way out, stock up on pecorino, parmigiano, and salumi, especially their coppiette that's like the best pork jerky ever. Take everything to Piazza San Cosimato, where you can eat and people-watch at the farmers market." - annie replogle

Amazing porchetta sandwich at an old school deli with friendly staff. Take a sandwich to go and sit in the Piazza di San Cosimato.

La Norcineria di Iacozzilli is an outstanding butcher shop that truly stands out for its exceptional quality. The meat is of very high standard, clearly fresh and expertly prepared, and the selection is impressively wide, offering something for every taste and occasion. It’s easy to see why this shop is so popular with locals — the quality, variety, and authentic atmosphere make it a trusted neighborhood favorite. An added bonus is that they can vacuum-pack both meat and cheese, making it easy to bring high-quality Italian products home from your trip. If you are looking for top-quality butcher products and a genuine local experience, La Norcineria di Iacozzilli is highly recommended.

TLDR 🤗 A Trastevere highlight—warm, authentic, family-owned, and unforgettable. Outstanding cured meats, cheeses, and tradition you’ll carry with you long after your trip 🇮🇹🥩🧀✨ Visited this delightful spot during a food tour in the Trastevere neighborhood, and it quickly became a highlight while in Rome 🇮🇹 La Norcineria di Lacozzilli is a family-owned shop that’s been passed down for generations, and the history and care can be felt in everything they serve. Being here wasn’t just about tasting delicious food—it was about stepping into a place deeply rooted in Italian culture and hospitality ❤️ The selection was outstanding—perfectly cured meats, rich cheeses, and flavors that balanced rustic authenticity with pure quality 🥩🧀 Learning about the ingredients they provide for traditional recipes added so much depth to the experience. What could have been a simple tasting turned into something meaningful and educational. Every bite told its own story, and it felt more like being welcomed to a family table than sampling at a shop 🍽️ For those wandering through Trastevere, I can’t recommend this place enough ✨ Whether passing through on a tour or popping by solo, it’s a chance to savor incredible food while connecting with history in the most genuine way. Knowing this shop has been in a family for generations made the visit feel truly special, I will definitely cherish this memory! 🥹

Google
Such a lovely experience to taste their home-made cheese, and the pork over bread! The bread is fully soaked with the juice and broth, and the pork is simply tender and amazing! The crispy pork skin is definitely the highly, giving you both a joy of crispness to chew on, and additional fat to stimulate your taste buds. The in house red wine is very matching as well. Light body and sweat.

Google
Ordered the porchetta sandwich and a small meat platter with mortadella and capocollo (gabagool) — everything was fresh and delicious. We also tried some of their cheese selection and enjoyed the house wine. The staff were super friendly, prices were affordable, and the atmosphere felt like a cozy neighborhood spot (Satriales). The only thing I’d love to see is more outdoor standing tables to enjoy food outside.

Google
Absolutely mind blowing sandwiches and the juiciest mozzarella cheese I’ve ever tasted by far! It was worth to wait the approximately 20 minutes it took them to take our order and prepare one sandwich with barely any other costumers in the shop. Genuine, friendly service. No place to sit and great price.

Google
THE best porchetta I have ever had. It will definitely be included in my list of best pork dishes ever. It was crunchy, flavorful, and reallly juicy. Shame I was only able to eat it once! I came here on a Saturday night, they’re closed on Sundays, and my flight home was Monday morning :( Do not miss this place when you come to Rome! On a side note, there’s an older gentleman who works the counter there. He’s tall, skinny, wears glasses, and um…”doesn’t have a lot of hair”. After I demolished my sandwich, I went back to compliment them. I wrote it out on Google Translate and showed the gentleman. Oddly enough, he didn’t seem to appreciate it and he kind of waved me away? I’m not sure why. Maybe Google Translate accidentally cussed him out in Italian? Anyway, come here for the best porchetta in Rome :)

Google
Real Italian experience! One of a kind. All produce is fresh and delicious. The service is very good. I would recommend the pork sandwich in pizza bread! Sourdough it’s also delicious. Hidden gem 😋

Yelp
Fantastic porchetta sandwich! A place with authentic charm, offering a slice of Italian life.

Yelp
We came for the porchetta. It was amazing. We walked into the shop, and it seemed like a place that locals frequented. Ambiance was a typical meat shop. We had heard this place was amazing, and we had to try the porchetta. The staff was super friendly. They recommended we get it in sandwich form. So simple but so tasty. The meat was tender, salty, fatty, so savory. I loved every bite.

Yelp
Seriously the best porchetta ever!!! Porchetta is flavored, juicy pork belly roll with fat melted off and a crackling crust. Theirs was absolutely the best out of all I've tasted in my life so far. I want to go back to Rome just for their porchetta! Their pecorino (cheese in poor Roman communities, made with sheep's milk) and parmesan (cheese made with cow's milk) were also really good! Complimented well with their Ciu Ciu 'San Carro' red wine!

Yelp
The best porchetta in Rome! This was a stop on the Eating Europe food tour through Trastevere. The owner was so friendly and the porchetta was outstanding- the porchetta was placed on a flatbread - so juicy, full of flavor. 5 stars for uniqueness!

Yelp
Agreed. Best porchetta. Had it on the food tour and so so worth it. Apparently at peak times, they go through a whole pig a day. It's so good and they take such care of how they make it. It was so tender and we'll salted. Even a slice was enough for the piece of bread it came on.

Yelp
Happened upon this place by accident when buying groceries next door. The whole atmosphere is very happy--the guys who run that place are super friendly and positive. When I was there, a tour group came through, so the place is officially on the culinary map. The tour had beer included, and the guy helping me gave me a glass to try. It was called Birra Alta Quota, and it is made with farro; it was excellent, so I bought a few bottles to take back to my apartment. I bought the prosciutto, which they make themselves, sourced from pigs kept in Umbria. He hand-sliced the prosciutto with a knife, which gives it a more heart mouth feel. I also bought 200 grams of Castelvetrano olives. Everything was excellent. Reading other reviews, it sound like I need to try the porchetta!! Next time.

Yelp
We visited this shop with our food tour guide, as we wanted to try some local foods in Rome. We had a delightful slice of porchetta (juicy, tender, absolutely heavenly) on pizza. Highly recommend stopping by here!

Yelp
Thank goodness this was part of a walking food tour that we booked during our stay in Rome. This is pork-centric market, where virtually everything they sell is derived from the pig. From my understanding, this is a long-standing place that has a high level of prestige in the community. The piece de resistance is the Porchetta, an experience onto itself. I don't know that I've ever had pork that is as juicy, tender, and unctuous. You would be missing out if you did not pay this place a visit while bopping around Trastevere. And, what is great is that it is located in a foodie's paradise, surrounded by restaurants and gelato joints.

Yelp
They've got all the meat and cheese. And not just any meat and cheese. This shop, staffed by cheerful guys that obviously know what they're doing, has the most flavorful porchetta, the most finely sliced prosciutto, the fluffiest fresh ricotta, and freshest mozzarella. If you're looking to have a picnic, have a party, eat some dinner, or just have a snack, you can't go wrong with anything you get here.

Yelp
Run by 3 generations of the Iacozzilli family since the early 1920's, this deli is a Trastevere institution. don't miss their porchetta sandwiches

Yelp
This is a family run deli with the best porchetta sandwich in Rome. Juicy, flavorful and tender pork. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This is a take away place so plan accordingly. We found this place on a Trasteverde food tour and I found myself returning on my last day in Rome to relive this amazing sandwich. Don't miss La Norcineria.

Timothy W.

Yelp
It was a great stop for a quick bite to eat. We came by on a food tour. Would go again.

Yelp
Oh man! Anyone visiting Rome should take a pit stop to this deli. Our friend whom previously went to Italy had recommended this place to us (part of their food tour in Rome). They have one of the best porchetta around. Also it's in a great neighborhood with many awesome restaurants. It's very simple with bread and meat but definitely a must try here in Rome.

Yelp
Porchetta to die for! Get on a white pizza (it's just a nice soft piece of bread with rosemary olive oil)

Jessica D.

Yelp
Panini Porchetta is a must try - we came to Trastevere just to visit La Norcineria and were not disappointed.

Cathy G.

Yelp
Best porchetta in the world! Even if your not hungry, get one to go. You won't regret it. It's so moist and flavorful!
