Best Halal Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"For an inviting ambiance, vibrant plates, and a late-night menu of coffee and desserts, head to LaPasha. Entrees like the chicken tawook and lamb shank are favorites, but the bevy of dessert and breakfast-for-dinner options (think crisp pistachio waffles crowned with ice cream) are the real stars. Traditional Turkish and Saudi coffee pots adorn each table, inviting guests to linger over food, sweets, and hookah into the late night hours." - Brianna Griff

For the life of me, I can't remember who recommended La Pasha to me or how I came across it, But I ended up there one Sunday for their fixed price buffet. And I loved it. So many options. Well prepared. Good flavor profiles. Truly representative of what one thinks of as Middle Eastern cuisine. But options for kids and a few non Middle Eastern food riffs. I recommend it for your next Sunday brunch. I'll stop now and just let the photos tell the story. Recommended.

I’ve visited this spot a few times and have been seated in different areas each time—it’s a spacious venue, but I think I prefer the outdoor seating for the atmosphere. Even though it had been a while since my last visit, everything still felt familiar in the best way. As always, the service was on point, even with a full crowd. Our drinks and hookah came out quickly, and I really appreciate the traditional vibe of the place. Last night, I had the Greek salad (no olives or cheese) with added chicken—and wow, the chicken was incredibly tender! The veggies were fresh and flavorful. I devoured the whole thing. I also ordered a tropical kiwi, which was refreshing, and we shared a pot of hot black mint tea. Our hookah flavor was a mix of watermelon, blueberry, and mint—super smooth. Definitely becoming my go-to spot, especially when I’m flying solo.

Absolutely loved my experience at Labash! The food was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented every bite felt like a taste of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the quality and care really shine through. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, satisfying meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We are making sure to visit La Pasha when in Houston! Love the vibe and atmosphere there. AlwYs get the outdoor seating to enjoy their pretty ambiance. Surprised with the quality of food. So good ! We ordered a lot from the menu and all of them were delicious. Definitely going back .

Google
La Pasha Lounge and Grill truly knows how to deliver a fantastic experience! The vibes are unmatched, creating the perfect atmosphere for a night out. The food is absolutely delicious—each dish is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, and it was a nice touch to meet one of the managers at the end of the night. They genuinely care about ensuring that every guest, including my staff, has an amazing time. We even had a few of the guys try hookah for the first time, and they loved it! Don’t skip out on the dessert menu—it’s definitely worth saving room for. Highly recommend!

Google
La Pasha Grill has a vibrant ambiance, staff is good at service, mediterranean food is good and the hookahs are the best. It is an upscale place. Their shawarma fries are the best - show stopper. Full of flavor and perfect crunch of fries. Their drinks are good - non-alcoholic. Their crepes tastes haven. The outdoor space is perfect for the current weather. The staff made sure we are comfortable and fine with the food, drinks and hookah. Their hookah is smooth and the flavor doesn’t get burn easily and therefore, no throat irritation.

Clean, neat, and nice people serving you all the time. Prices are okay, and they have forced valet parking 🙄. Food is good in general, but there are few items I didn't like. Also, the warmers are not efficient. I had a few items cold even though they were on these warmers. Check the receipt before you tip... it's already added automatically. They have a section without hookah if you're annoyed by it like I do. The buffet is on Sundays only 10-2pm.

Travel from Dallas and came to check out the original spot first time! The server Duniya was awesome! She always checked up on us. Great hooakah and tea! Would be back was visiting Htx! Love it !

Yelp
This spot is the perfect blend of upscale and casual. Amazing service and it is very clean. Our sever was Alyssa who was both attentive and knowledgeable about all menu items. The best touch was a man who I presume was the manager- he had a great presence on the floor checking in with patrons as well as running food. My husband and I are looking forward to moving to Texas and I think this might be our new spot.

Yelp
Atmosphere amazing! Service amazing! Food, omg, the food was so amazing!! I can not say this enough: run, don't walk to this place!! This place is so freaking amazing! Definitely will be back!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND LA Pasha!!

Yelp
The outside seating area was such a vibe! The live DJ had some great Bollywood music playing, the heaters kept you warm and the string lights were so cute. Sitting outside was definitely better than inhaling all the smoke that accumulates inside. Samosas: weren't anything super special but crispy and flavorful. The green sauce was a nice touch Spicy fries: wish they were a bit more spicy but the fries themselves were already seasoned so it was automatically better than normal fries! Chicken pizza: this was the star of the meal!! I normally don't like chicken on pizza but this was packed with flavor. Wasn't too cheesy and the crust was great!! It was a large sized pizza and it filled us up nicely. Kunafa: the cheese could have been melted a bit more but the vermicelli was so crispy and had the perfect sweetness to it! Overall, highly recommend going here for the food and great vibes. We also got the ice base hookah with double apple flavor. The ice base always helps make it less harsh. You can mix flavors as well so experiment:))

Yelp
First time visit and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Everything was excellent. The food was so good and flavorful. The portions are big you definitely get a lot for the price. This meal cost less than our breakfast this morning for some omelets (that were not good) and this food was so much better! Everything we had was excellent. Service was great. Server was very nice and helpful. They are not in a rush here so go to enjoy and relax. We sat on the back patio it's large and perfect when the weather is nice. They have a kids play ground and the area is big. So if you don't smoke hookah and want to go and be away from the smoke the patio is perfect. Inside is nice and large with lots of TV if you want to watch sports. Back in the day I smoked hookah and would have loved this place Overall everything was excellent and I'll definitely be back many more times.

Yelp
Amazing vibes at night especially with the outdoor string lights and live music. My friend and I got the Kabob Plate, hookah, and chai all for around $50, and the hookah lasted us a while. The kabob plate was absolutely delicious with not a single bad component. Meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Grilled vegetables and onions were crunchy, and finally the hummus was soo creamy that it was the perfect dip. Service was a bit slow and it was hard to get a hold of our server sometimes, but they were completely packed on a Saturday night so it was understandable. Food came out in a reasonable time after we managed to order though!

Yelp
Came on a Sunday at 3pm. It was very busy. Service was relatively slow but it makes sense due to the crowd. Gyro plate: this was good. The spicy fries were very good. Chicken tikka plate: the chicken tasted great as well as the steamed veggies. I would pass on the rice, not flavorful and slightly on the harder side. Bathrooms: the women's bathroom was disgusting. I would definitely recommend having an employee check once in awhile. (Toilet paper everywhere, seats not cleaned, etc) Hookah; this was good we got it with an orange head

Yelp
Found this place through IG and of course bookmarked it so when I was in this side could give it a go, and I'm sure glad I did! I love Mediterranean food and all the photos looked great and the atmosphere as well, so I looped my coworkers together and off we went! When we pulled up the outside of the building was beautiful and inviting. We walked in and their was a small bakery counter to the left with a brick oven in the back as well. We were greeted promptly and were able to choose where we wanted to sit. Lots of space indoors and outdoors and also has a private dining space that you can have private parties in. I love that there was so much space to spread out, and plugs in Al the walls so should you hang out for a work day, you're plugged in and good to go. This place seems very authentic in my opinion, lots of hookah around as well, and all the food looked amazing it was so hard to decide! I got the samosas (half and half) as I couldn't decide which I wanted. I liked them both but prefer the beef! Also I ordered the chicken Schwarma with fries and it was absolutely delicious with the garlic sauce that comes with it. You can sub out your fries for a salad! Everything that came out look phenomenal, I wasn't able to finish all my food, so it was nice to have something for later on. The one thing I would say that would be helpful to know is water came out in a bottle so you're charged $3 for that and then gratuity is added in already as well. I definitely intend to come back and enjoy this delicious food! Our waiter was super nice and attentive so I appreciate how kind everyone was during our visit.

Yelp
I came here with my kids for the first time and they have the best hospitality, good food and do cute thank you to Emi and lingyu for treating me and my kids so amazing !

Yelp
Ive heard so many good things about this place and I can honestly say, it lived up to its reputation!! The food, drinks, desserts, hookah, and ambience was extraordinary. We came here on a Thursday night and had a time. The service was very attentive and the food did not take long to come out (considering how much food we ordered lol). I truly regret not coming here sooner. Everyone in my family loved it and we cannot wait to go back. 5/5

Zaid N.

Yelp
Nice spot for Hookah and good music. Great outdoor setting - service was awesome ; food is good but we only tried the appetizers. Would definitely come back and visit!
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
Busy! This place gets packed and I see why. They have valet, which I highly suggest using. The place is huge so even with a crowd you will be seated fast. There's also a playground for the kids. The tea was good. The smoothie drinks were great. Food was very good. Lamb was tender. The chicken dishes were juicy. Fries were crispy. All flavorful. I really liked this place. Service was fast and brought the food out quick. I enjoyed my time and I'll be back.

Shireen A.

Yelp
Services is very very slow. It looked like they had one waitress serving the whole restaurant which is why it took her a long time to come and get our order. The Hooka smoke all over the restaurant and there are no none smoking sections. The food was horrible, and the rice and chicken tasted like left over and it was so obvious they heated it in the microwave. Save your self and do not go.

Yelp
Words cannot encompass how much I love this place. On my recent trip to Houston, LaPasha was THE highlight. The only way I can describe this establishment is that this is a place that has something for everybody. They have indoor seating, outdoor seating, with a large tree with sparkly lights and string lights. They have a play area for kids... it never ends. The ambience is upbeat and the energy here is amazing. They have different djs come during the week to play music, which is fire. I have never been to a place that has a more diverse patronage. Everybody from single groups of guys, gals, families, and everything in between can be found here. In this aspect, I can easily say LaPasha is an institution of its own. The hostesses are super nice and accommodating. On our first visit our waiter, Mohamed (from Ramallah) was incredible and made amazing suggestions. On our second visit, our waitress Dina was even better and went above and beyond to make sure we had the time of our life here. I love the mint lemonade here and the tricolor smoothie Is also amazing. We haven't tried much of their food but desserts have been pretty amazing. The kanafa is my favorite. It is appropriately cheesy, crunchy and sweet. The rice pudding is also very good. The hookah here is absolutely perfect. I highly suggest getting a fruit head for a great experience. My favorite combo was an orange head with orange and paan mixed inside. Highly recommend going here if you are in Houston. I cannot wait to return.
google avatar

Jibran K.

Yelp
They have the best kanafe I have ever had in Houston. And that was the highlight of the food. We got lamb chops (completely burnt). Chicken Tawook was so dry. Mixed platter, all was dry and chewy. Philly cheesesteaks sandwich was mWings was okay. The side salad was not bad either. The hookah was nice. We got orange heads for the two we got. We sat outside when we heard there was no AC inside. How the heck do you have such a large indoor area with people smoking and not have proper ventilation and air conditioning?!?! Is that even allowed? The service was good! We didn't get a receipt breakdown, just a total with tip already added and for additional tip line. Valet parking guy said there was a minimum to charge on the card. If I ever come back here which I probably will since my friends hangout here, hookah and kanafe is all I'm going to get henceforth!

Mosab E.

Yelp
2 dollars for extra ranch! I recently visited la pasha and overall, my experience was decent--until I asked for extra ranch dressing. I was shocked to find out they charge $2 for a tiny cup of ranch! This is way overpriced, especially considering the portion size. I understand restaurants need to cover costs, but this feels like gouging. The food itself is already on the pricier side, and having to pay extra for something as basic as ranch is frustrating. It's disappointing that such a simple request comes with such an unreasonable charge. I hope they reconsider their pricing for add-ons in the future.

Yelp
We came here for my cousin's 30th birthday and my older cousin made the reservation. It ended up being two more people for the reservation but they didn't mind and accommodated two more seats. Everyone else got full meals but I wasn't hungry and opted for dessert. I got a strawberry, banana, Nutella waffle and a pot of green tea. The tea was delicious, as was the waffle. The ambience was calm but I wish they dimmed the lights a little bit. It was so bright in there that I got a headache. The atmosphere would be so much better if they just turned the lights down a bit. Overall, it was a good time and I'd definitely go back again. I don't do shisha but I'd consider doing it there bc it's the real deal. They also have valet which was convenient.

Yelp
My visit to LaPasha Lounge & Grill for hookah was a sensory delight. The quality and variety of hookah flavors, combined with the relaxing ambiance, made it an exceptional evening. It's a place where you can savor the flavors, unwind with friends, and escape the daily grind. The service at LaPasha was attentive and accommodating. The staff was knowledgeable about the hookah flavors and offered recommendations based on our tastes. The lounge exudes a warm and welcoming ambiance, perfect for an evening of relaxation and conversation. The comfortable seating, soft lighting, and Middle Eastern-inspired decor create an inviting atmosphere that encourages lingering.

Yelp
Service was was great very attentive Food was just was as great got the mixed grill well worth 21$ and the hookah for only 14$ was also a move W restaurant overall Highly recommend
google avatar

Sanaa C.

Yelp
My favorite hookah lounge in Houston! It's more upscale/fancy than some other places but not over-the-top. The hookah is usually great, and the service is too. The outdoor patio is my go to. The indoors is usually too cold for me. It's a huge space with multiple different rooms, so they're able to host large groups of people quite easily. If you come at a busy time (weekend night) expect a wait even if it's just for a party of two. The food here is pretty good too. My go to meal is the "Chicken Shawarma Wrap" or "Baba Ganouj" if I want something light. The sliders are also pretty good.
google avatar

Meenakshi R.

Yelp
Love this place and highly recommend. Haven't tasted chicken like this. Out of the world. It's kids friendly and has playground while kids can play and adults can do hookah.
google avatar

Malek F.

Yelp
La Pasha Lounge & Grill delivers an unforgettable dining experience with its exquisite cuisine, elegant ambiance, and attentive service. From succulent grilled meats to flavorful Mediterranean dishes, every bite is a delight. With warm hospitality and top-notch quality, it's the perfect destination for any occasion.
google avatar

Jasmeen E.

Yelp
This place is soo nice. There is only valet parking available. If you park on the streets you're doing that at your own risk. This is a Mediterranean hookah lounge on the southwest side of Houston. The customer service is great and the food is amazing. Loved almost everything I tried. They have over 20 flavors for hookah. I highly recommend
google avatar

Md M.

Yelp
Had a chance to visit this place for buffet in Ramadan , the service, food and ambiance was amazing. The only problem was the parking the. Road outside was under construction and valet parking was a chaos at the time. I had to park my car and pay 5 dollars for it . The outdoor patio lounge looked very good to sit outside but the rain didn't allow us that day .
google avatar

Yelp
LaPasha has amazing food and great service. We ordered the mix grill 10/10, and the steak was also perfect! The portions are a great size. The taste, the flavor, the presentation everything was spot on! The flavor is so rich and just yum. The drink was also a great lime mint mojito. I can't wait to come again. The ambiance and decor of the entire place is so beautiful. Excellent place in houston! Cant wait to be back soon!
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
We got a bunch of appetizers that were delicious! I ordered the lamb chops, they were great, but a little small compared to the photo in the menu. You also get a mound of rice served with it as well. The service was good for the most part, but we had to wait decently long for the check. It was a pretty busy for a lunch, and a lot of hookas were being smoked. the air was a little hazy, but it was not overbearing like cigarette smoke!
google avatar

Cherrish A.

Yelp
Some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in Houston so far! The Jason's bowl, falafel plate, and the mint lemonade are a must!! Be advised that you will most likely wait for a while to be served and to get your food ‍
google avatar

Fazley R.

Yelp
It's funny how I have been here three times and I have never tried the hookah. Have just observed others partake while I focused on the food menu. They have a menu item where they serve a combination of chicken and beef over rice which I would recommend. The hummus was not my favorite. Very grainy in texture. Their pita bread is super fresh and seems like they make it on the spot. My overall impression is that the food is good but not great.
google avatar

Nelly K.

Yelp
The food and hookah were amazing. The service was great too! We ordered the chai, Mediterranean plate among other items. The ambience is great however the seating arrangements up front is in need of serious repair or replacement. The seats were ripped and torn and there was stuffing peeking through the holes. The cloth on the chairs was so dirty and there were so many stains, it was hard picking a spot to sit. Management: please clean up the seating area close to the reception!
google avatar

Anas S.

Yelp
Atmosphere is great, sat outside and had hookah. Service was also great, I wish they had a branch in Dallas . I wouldn't call this a shawarma it's more a grilled chicken sandwich but it was good
google avatar

Sharika M.

Yelp
Great to see all ages and walks of life here! Great menu selection from apps to burgers to drinks.
google avatar

Francisco T.

Yelp
First things first. Food was really good, we had kibbeh, grilled chicken and beef, hummus, tabboulleh and some other stuff. Service was good, friendly and attentive. The reason I'm not coming back to this place is valet parking, I had to wait in a line of cars for people to park my car in a lot literally next to the restaurant, which I could have done in less than a minute, this is nonsense and poor management.
google avatar

Hanna V.

Yelp
I like their fries with chicken meal. My friend keeps raving about their mint drink but I haven't had the chance to try it. Big parking with valet.
google avatar

Lorraine I.

Yelp
What is the fun of this place? I didn't get it The service people are really nice and friendly But the food is ok on a very mediocre level For the kabob plate they bring me a Chinese specify saucer and a creamy American type of sauce, r u kidding me? Where is the hummus? Or yogurt kind of thing? They even charge for hot water and and lemon slices For $3 dollars I am ok with paying it but it is way ridiculous R u in Vegas? The 6 star hotel? That was the only time I was charged for hot water and I was informed ahead They charge the tips on mandatory directly posting to your bill, and u have a mandatory valet as well R u taking yourself as a fine dining? With tons of smoking pots inside. The atmosphere is average, there is people having the coal all around for their water cigarettes? Super dangerous I don't like this place at all
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, coming from California and experiencing this place is a must... it's super cool, but bring your friends and family, it's more fun. We visited this place like 3-4 times during our visit to Texas for a wedding. It was one of the highlights as a place to go in the evening to hang out. Upon arrival, you'll drop off your car in their driveway where a valet will park for car for you. If I recall, it's $5 for this valet service, but we tipped them more since they were out there a few times in the rain and always had a smile. The interior was nice, hookahs everywhere, inside and in the outdoor patio, but wow, that cloud of smoke as soon as you walk in was insane and I was awestruck... I knew we were in heaven. To make a long story short... food was great, we tried many things and nothing disappointed. We also tried their desserts, and they've perfected everything, even their crepe was crazy good. Towards the end of the meal, we ordered a hookah and their Moroccan tea paired well with it. One night we got a regular hookah mix that was recommended by the server which was ok, but the other night we ordered the one with a pineapple head, which was awesome. We dined inside twice and enjoyed their patio seating on other nights. By the way, it's busier inside on most nights, so you'll have less of a wait if you get patio seating... but, one night we were out there and it started raining out of nowhere... that unpredictable Texas weather, so they were able to quickly get us a table inside which was nice. Overall, this place is a must if you're visiting in the Sugar Land/Richmond area of Texas.

Yelp
I come to la pasha all the time. The lamb chops keep me coming back. They're some of the best I've had in Houston. Well seasoned and tender. I had them with the fries and hummus this time. If I don't get this than I get the Jason bowl which is also delicious. The ambiance is really nice. Sometimes I come here to study and there are always a lot of people with laptops out working during the day. Hookah is good too. I also love their smoothies
google avatar

Dev S.

Yelp
This is such a lively laid back lounge, with Hookah n amazing varieties of Tea to go with it The food is worth a mention , especially the Platter n Kababs, even the sides are just awesome. The Atmosphere is very positive, a lil loud at times but that comes with the lively ambience. Make sure to book a table before you dine in, Finally found a gem of a place to kick back relax along with a great range menu
google avatar

Brettny J.

Yelp
I had the greek salad. It was pretty good and very big (good for 3 people). I also had the chicken tikka plate, which is the equivalent of the Indian cuisine's tandoori chicken. It was really good except for the outer part being burnt and needing to be peeled off.
google avatar

Scarlet G.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. No alcoholic drinks. Food was average. Hookah was my favorite and the patio. Great for a date night or meet up
google avatar

Natasha N.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambience. Make sure you ask for Talal when you come - he's at tentative and has great menu suggestions. The manager, Mohammed, is also great and treats his regulars well. Been coming since they opened and will happily continue. Lingyu and Talal are also excellent and are always quick to help.

Montray N.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible I had to move tables 2 times because they had to arrange a party of 20. It took 40 minutes for me to get my food and it wasn't cooked right. Then the manager was like okay here's your bill I forgot my to go box. Horrible service.. But still a nice spot kid friendly just bad service
google avatar

Ellie L.

Yelp
I came here for a private event; we all had a good time. The food was very well put and tasted amazing. The service at first felt rushed because there was a lot of people but over all they handled things very well.
google avatar

Nicolle G.

Yelp
Super cute patio and ambiance, I keep coming back hope they keep it up with the good food and customer service...

Yelp
This place is chill, always busy but Always great service. Whether coming to catch up on some work mid day, catch up with friends or just to grab dinner, La Pasha is the perfect place. The music is good but when the Dj is out, it's really good! Paan raas Shisha and a pot of mint tea always hits the spot. Definitely order the shawarma fries with a side of chili sauce!
google avatar

Reema G.

Yelp
Good hookah bar with nice food and drinks selection. The hummus was trash though. Really brought shame to authentic hummus. The falafel was good. $5 valet only, no parking otherwise. I didn't try the hookah but my friend said the watermelon flavor was pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a really good experience Zaina was so sweet and kind provided amazing service! Would recommend coming here!

Yelp
So I will start off with noting I came upon this place through photos of the foods. We did tea and starters. The server was an asian girl and absolutely in a filthy attitude. We asked for water when we ordered our stuff and she came out with bottled water. They do not offer complimentary waters. The bottles are $3 a pop. I said we don't want them then and she said "once we add it to your tab, we cant take it off" and we had to tell her she failed to mention its $3. She then said she will go ask the manager in a rude fit. Dropped off the food and we never saw her again. You can't track a server down in this joint. It's very rude and annoying. I do not recommend. Both the food and the service sucked.
google avatar

Huda A.

Yelp
Wow, this spot was so dope! My friends and I were visiting from out of town and wanted to visit a middle eastern restaurant/cafe. This was a great suggestion from one of our Houston friends. They have plenty of food options to choose from as well as desserts, coffee, drinks, and hookah. They have plenty of seating inside and outside and great fast service. They also open very late which was a plus! Would definitely recommend trying their Kunafa.
google avatar

Tasfia A.

Yelp
If you're looking for a hookah place that is great for large groups, has a pretty interior, and has a large selection of teas/food/desserts, LaPasha is LIT. I came here with a group of seven on a weekend late at night. It was packed and we were told the wait would be 45 minutes for a table. Fortunately the wait ended up being only 15 minutes and soon we were choosing from a large assortment of hookah flavors. We tried chai, mango/peach combo, tropical fruit, and another flavor that was like soothing menthol in my throat. That last flavor was by far my favorite and I regret not remembering the name. The baklava and spiced tea were excellent too. The service was excellent and we all had a great time. Parking situation: valet
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
I went there with a group of folks and waitress Valeria was nice to give each diner a separate check. I ordered the Jason bowl. I thought it's more like a salad but it's rice with your choice of chicken, beef or shrimp. Please know that adding shrimp is a bit extra. But the menu doesn't say that. The frozen mint limeade is quite sweet but refreshing. My rice bowl was hearty and came with broccoli, potatoes, carrots and red peppers. I asked for no peppers but it still came with them. The creamy dressing has a bit of a kick to it. But quite honestly, I thought the dish would be more flavorful. A friend let me try the hummus. It's delicious. And the pita served is baked fresh. The place is pretty big. Parking was valet only for $5 or $10. $10 gets your car parked up front. The bill came and it's when I saw being charged extra for the shrimp. I complained. The menu says "steamed vegetables with your choice of seasoned grilled chicken, shrimp or beef topped with our house sauce." The manager was fetched and I received credit. On the way out I saw desserts including ice cream. There was rice pudding, pistachio tres leches, tiramisu and other sweets. I purchased what I thought was a chocolate cheesecake but it's not. It's a velvety cake with a chocolate frosting. It's quite good. Please note that the place is a hookah lounge and it is smokey. I'd return but I'd order something else.
