La Perla Mexicana

My husband and I stopped by because we haven't been here in a while. While waiting for our food we sat down in a table that was for two people. After waiting for 5 minutes Ms.Rosalba said she needed the table for customers dinning in. She informed us tables are only for dinning in we got up and she combined our table with the table next to ours to seat a bigger party. I told her there should be a flyer stating dinning out has to wait outside then if that's the case. I proceed to ask her where can I sit she pointed to another table for two. I asked to speak to the manger and i informed him of what happened, Ms.Rosalba then informed him that she indicated to me I can sit somewhere else but that was a lie, I had asked her. She then proceed to say I wanted to argue and fight with her but that wasn't the case I was upset because as a paying customer that shouldn't happen. AGAIN MS. ROSALBA was extremely rude and the manager did nothing. I also informed him the last time I was there my husband and I had a terrible experience and we hadn't return until today and surprise surprise a bad experience again. Me personally I would not recommend this place due to people that work at that location like Ms.Rosalba. I also told her I was going to leave a review she said she didn't care and laughed.

$12.50 for chips and guacamole????? And it doesn’t even say it on the menu. Don’t come here!!! That’s crazy…

I had the steak quesadilla, food was amazing, service was also good.I loved the corn tortillas they used, not the usual flour tortillas. Definitely recommend.

I've been eating at this restaurant for the last 12 years. Connected anyone who is close to me to it. The service is great, and so is their food. I've tried burritos in several places, but the burritos at this restaurant are one of a kind! The best! If I weren't as busy these days, I'm sure that I would stop by more often for my favorite meal!

I felt like I was visiting a Mexican family, the food and the staff were amazing.

I wish the food matched the customer service. I went there for lunch and ordered $40 worth of food. The CS rep who took my order made a smaller order on another ticket for some reason. When the food was ready I asked if all the food was in the bag the girl assured me it was. I got all the way back to my job which was a drive away and part of my order was missing. I called asking if they could deliver it or accommodate me and they had no resolve. I even spoke to the Manager when I came to pick up my order that they forgot. Just terrible customer service. Unbelievable.

It's a hit or miss here no cap sometimes it's top tier eats or mid eats but recently they been missing sadly so I got a cheese burger at a Mexican restaurant but it was bussin no cap but the shrimps was dumb hard pause the horchata stay missing if you get a agua fresca get Jamaica or limon

A big fat NEVER AGAIN for me. The person who took my order was friendly & professional. The delivery was fast, but the food was BLAH! Forget "where's the beef?" WHERE'S THE FLAVOR? The papaya shake was BLAH. The soup was a bowl of noodles, frozen mixed vegetables, broth and a huge piece of chicken back with a slab of fat and skin giggling on it... EEEW. The spicy pork burrito was BLAH. Even the salsa verdi was BLAH. How does one even make bland salsa? Ask this restaurant because they've got the recipe. Back to that burrito, it's a mess and a crying shame....YUCK

I have found my new favorite lunch spot in the South Bronx! I've honestly tried a number of other Mexican spots in this neighbor expecting quality food, only to be disappointed in the end. Thankfully I stumbled across La Perla while doing a desperate yelp search for somewhere nearby to get food. I've had tacos and also tostadas, both of which are delicious and affordable. The tostadas are my favorite. They are stacked with lettuce, tomatoes, beans, cheese, and sour cream, plus whatever meat topping you want. I've had steak, chicken, and shrimp, and they did not disappoint. They delivered to my job in 20minutes the last time I ordered! This is definitely my new go-to spot.

The quesadillas are rlly good the only thing bad is that it's kinda expensive but other than that it's rlly good I recommend going to this place y'all be saying it's a 1 but it's good

Saturday 24th of june I went to eat with my family, we were 8 in total and as soon as the waitress saw us walk in she gave us an attituted. She took a long time to take our order and when she did she took it with an attituted. She took a very long time giving us our drinks so I asked if they would be any longer and she was extremly rude. She said we had to keep waiting, but I only asked for the drinks and after that and her behavior towards we left, mind you there were only 2 other tables each with only 2 people.

Nice Mexican restaurant! I got chicken and steak tacos- I loved the chicken tacos they were amazing! I thought the steak was decent, but did not enjoy it as much as the chicken. I also got a side of guacamole which was very tasty!! If you're in the area, recommend giving it a try! Heads up- they only accept cash

I used go here a lot when I worked at the hospital. They had authentic Mexican food with tasty drinks. It's been a while since I last went so all I can say is it was really good, and I still worked nearby this would be my spot! Happy Yelping!

The service sucks they are very rude and they didn't get my order right plus they put so much lettuce on my tostadas it's was very overflowing with lettuce

What a great place to eat for the price. Food is extremely fresh and delicious. I love going here for lunch. The tables are always packed (which should tell you something) so I try my best to do pickup vs delivery or dinning in. I ordered shrimp tacos, the shrimp tasted like they de-shelled and deveined it themselves. The pork taco was delicious and both had generous portions. Lastly I ordered guacamole. The person over the phone took my order asked me if I wanted it spicy or not spicy. I chose spicy, and they said "are you sure"... In tasting it, I realize why he asked. The heat was coming from real jalapeños! I tried 3 other Mexican restaurants in the area and none of them featured jalapeños as the kicker. It was a nice surprise, delicious, and insanely fresh. I'm not going anywhere else, I found my new favorite spot to order from for lunch

Just came out from this restaurant. After a long day at work I came to eat and hoping to have a grate time . I order my self a vegetarian burrito and I asked if the Horchata water was natural. My burrito was good but the Horchata water was artificial flavor. I got so mad so I had to order a fresh lemonade . Not only that the waiter was only focused on people around us and not on my table . I guess she got mad cause I told her the Horchata wasn't natural like I asked for . Wen I got my change back I was missing $10.00 . I have never experienced something like this in any other Mexican restaurant.

Hit or miss on several of the menu items. The hits are the steak nachos and and of the tortas. Pass on the chilaquiles and tacos. Delivery and service for carry out and dining is quick. The food servings are huge and great to share. Cash only.

Although the staff can seem a bit uptight when you ask them a question, this restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes like chilaquiles and gorditas. They do have some American options on the menu like steak and fries but I've found that they overcook the meat so best to go with straight Mexican food. VERY cheap. You can get a meal for less than $10 and be stuffed. Also quality of ingredients (for the Mexican food) is pretty good. They also have an old juke box with old Spanish music which my grandmother loved when I took her. Located near Lincoln hospital so gets pretty busy during lunch but highly recommend for a quick, cheap bite.

The only place I like to eat at in this neighborhood! Great mexican food! Which is saying a lot especially since I have high standards for my mexican food being from Los Angeles and all. I LOVE their carne asada tacos. Made to perfection with yummy salsa sauces- one spicey tomatillo sauce and another guacamole type sauce. So far the best mexican I have had in New York! Apparently they also have a great vegetarian burrito with avocado, rice and beans. The vegetarian I know swears by them. But beware the burritos are huge but cheap $5.25 each. Decor is very mexican with the typical mexican fabric as curtains and a juke box that plays mariachi music :p Small tables. Come for excellent, cheap, authentic mexican food! Highly recommended!

Authentic Mexican food in the boogie down Bronx. It's very tasty. I ordered the shrimp burrito and a chicken taco.

This is an excellent option within spitting distance of Lincoln. I was in the neighborhood for medical record abstraction, and I was excited to have some Mexican food for lunch! I ordered two tacos, lengua and al pastor, and they were solid tacos. Price is fair, too! I'd happily come back.

The meal I just had...for so cheap! The burrito was amazing and it didn't feel heavy or greasy...just clean and healthy and the ingredients are fresh! I am coming back.

Really, really good...but service really, really SUCKS! One girl should not be waiting tables and taking phone orders during the lunch rush...cmon! Get the girl help! As for the food, be prepared to wait a minimum of 20mins for you to get your order. Is it worth the wait? Yes, it is worth the damn wait. Food is scrumptious. Really, really good. Now hire some help for that poor girl.

La Perla's veggie tacos come with almost half an avocado on each taco, major plus. They're quick even when it's slammed, and it usually is around meal times. Owner is kind and helps out with food orders and delivery. This is my go to taco place in the south Bronx!

The food is amazing but they only speak Spanish and that sucks because they end up losing a lot of customers who don't speak spanish.

If one were to be a vegetarian, and find themselves in this neighborhood, this would be a good place to turn to. I strongly suggest ordering a vegetarian torta.the torta comes on thick bread, with mayaonaise, cheese, avocado, beans, jalapenos, and lettuce. Its delicious. And messy. my favorite sandwich in the neighborhood. the staff here are friendly, but service can be a little slow at times. on a side note, i have heard of people getting a little sick from the food here. watch out for the steak tacos.

This is not the first time come to this place but it will be the first time to write about it. The food is delicious , I usually order sopes and my son echiladas. We devoured the food all the time i go there. The food is cheap and the staff very friendly. I recommend it.

Came here for lunch with 9 people. They were accommodating food came out quick hot and delicious! Had a beer three tacos for like 11$ or something. The place was really busy and they still met and exceeded expectations. Cash only btw.

Just want to say that there are new prices on the food at this place! Whatever other menus you see on other sites are incorrect. I will get the menu and take pics of it so that the updated menu is available. It's delicious authentic Mexican food!

Came here on two occasions - the first time I ordered steak tacos, which were good, today I ordered chicken tacos which were tasteless and lacked seasoning. Oh and if you want sour cream they charge an extra dollar. Would not recommend!

Some of the best burritos that I've ever had. The tortilla is crispy which makes it different from most burritos. I also love the sauces, the hot sauce is the right amount of spice without drowning out the flavor and the other sauce has a garlicky flavor that's fantastic, although it stays with you all day. The burrito is also large, it's a solid meal but not too huge to take away from the burrito. I prefer the steak (which is the same as the beef) but the chicken is good too. The price is right, the burrito is about 6.50 which is prefect for a meal. At another restaurant the same meal could be $10-$12 easily. The actual restaurant is very basic, but what do you want? It's essentially a take out place. The staff are very friendly and helpful despite being constantly busy. It's also open fairly late into the night closing at 11 I think. Would definitely recommend this for lunch or an informal dinner. Especially with the limited options in the area

This is the go to spot for hungry residents on call at Lincoln. Great tacos, burritos and enchiladas. Only problem is that 80% of the staff does not speak English getting a delivery order right can be problematic. The food is great, great tacos and enchiladas rock. Appetizer wise, the chips with avocados, tomatoes, cheese and crema is the best. The meal is not complete until you get the Coca Cola from Mexico made with cane sugar.

A true gem in the Bronx. They have AUTHENTIC Mexican food that's just amazing. Their quesadillas are amazing and always hit the spot. Unfortunately they only take cash and the place is kind of small. The food can take a few but it all worth the wait. I love this place!!

The service is extremely slow and if you order a delivery be prepared to wait a while for your food but the food is great. Their burritos are amazing, the tacos are yummy, the tostadas are good and the quesadillas come with rice and salad on the side so the portions are huge. They also give you homemade green sauce on the side which is the best green sauce I've ever had, I'm addicted!

This is good food cheap. Don't eat if you need to stay awake, because post-prandial naps may be in your future. Lots of options. I recommend the steak burrito. Excellent on its own, but the pepper sauce sends it through the roof. The burritos are BIG and messy. But completely worth it. Consider picking up a Jamaica - known to Jamaicans as Sorrel, and to botanists as hibiscus tea (small is usually sufficient). While the absence of ginger (and rum) is disappointing to the palate, it is refreshing and tangy. Negatives. Like most non-chain establishments in this part of the south Bronx, cash is king and plastic is a red-headed stepchild. There are ATMs nearby, but why risk it? They are slow. But then again, good food takes time, and it is worth the wait Most of the staff have trouble with English. Don't be surprised if you get handed off to the expert to complete your order, and try not to be in a rush. You will likely repeat your order slowly. Try this place. You won't regret it

This gets an extra star just because it's next to impossible to find decent food in this area, unless you're into mcdonalds. Really good guacamole - they will make it spicy if you ask for it. very cute, unpretentious place with a mom-and-pop feel to it. as other reviewers said already - service is super slow, so be prepared to wait. definitely recommended if you're in this neck of the woods.

I've been eating here for over 5 yrs. the food is amazing!!! But don't go there if you're famished because the service is a bit slow. Other than that the food is delicious.

Compared to Mexican restaurants in the UES, this place is heaven. La Perla is conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Hospital and the only lunch option that is not _insert any fast food store_. However, after eating here several times, I can't deny the icky feeling I get after eating 1/2 a burrito. I agree with the reviewer below that the veggies aren't too fresh and the burritos are not wrapped in a way that is conducive to eating by hand. On the other hand, their barbacoa is decent and I am a sucker for their banana shakes. Also, even though this place is a fast eats place, during busy hours they take a while to prepare the food. You must have more than 30 minutes of lunch break if you are planning on eating here.

I seriously love coming here! I come here on a daily basis and enjoy the Mexican food that they provide here. If your in the area and want to go to a restaurant with good food I definitely recommend this place! My favorite thing to eat here is their tacos & tostadas.

Best Mexican restaurant thus far! The food is like crack! Very authentic- mom's comfort food type of cuisine. I strongly recommend their chicken quesdilla and their pollo al salsa verde. Yummy!!!!! Love love love this place!

One of the few places on 149th that the fear of ecoli doesn't exist. Homemade quality food that's fine but I've had better Mexican food. Wait time can be lengthy so for pickup orders definitely call ahead 20 mins in advance of the time you are ready to pick up. Large portions and solid food for your $. If you need a place to go to eat and you're in the area check it out.

The only reason this place wont get a perfect rating is because of the wait time & some attitude from the servers. The food is DELICIOUS! Authentic mex, reasonably priced. Absolutely love love love this place. I'll travel as far as I have to if I'm craving some La Perla!

I am addicted to the hard shell shrimp tacos! I haven't tried anything else but damn they are good! Only thing I don't like is that they barely deliver to my boyfriends house (who lives right around the corner). I guess they don't like to deliver after a certain time. :(

The food isn't that good, the tostadas always are burnt with the meat flavorless and burned as well. I order this from work a couple of times but the food gets worse every time , won't order again from here .

I love love love this place. I live in the neighborhood and unfortunately there are not many options for good take out. La Perla has some of the best authentic Mexican food. They're super fresh and super cheap. Try their Burritos De Pollo...rice, beans, chicken, onions, lettuce, sour cream, avocado sauce, Damn good! While ur there also try one of their Cervezas Mexicanas!

I've been coming here since I was a child, it's right around Lincoln hospital so I usually stopped by after an appointment. The food is always amazing and on point. The service tends to be slightly slow but that because this place is constantly busy. Regardless I will continue to come here.
