The Best Silver Lake Restaurants | Eater LA

"Find La Pharmacie du Vin, a cafe and wine bar specializing in European wines, in the same courtyard as Intelligentsia and Cafe Stella. Order wines by the bottle or the glass from the knowledgeable staff, or take a tasting class from the in-house sommelier. In addition to wines, La Pharmacie du Vin serves a tight menu of salads, market vegetables, and cheese." - Rebecca Roland

The 17 Best Wine Bars In Los Angeles

"La Pharmacie du Vin is the kind of place you bring a date or a few friends on a sunny afternoon when you don’t want to rush the experience. This wine shop near the Sunset Junction sign in Silver Lake has an outdoor area that resembles a courtyard in a Spanish villa. Sit next to a blooming bush of roses and eat charcuterie all afternoon like an off-duty (read: unemployed) model. All the wine on the menu is for sale in the shop, where sommeliers wear navy lab coats and hundreds of bottles line dark, wood-paneled walls." - nikko duren, brant cox, arden shore, sylvio martins

La Pharmacie du Vin Review - Silver Lake - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"La Pharmacie is the kind of place you bring a date (or a few friends you actually like), on a sunny afternoon when you don’t need to rush. It’s a wine shop smack dab in the middle of that rust-colored stucco complex near the Sunset Junction sign in Silver Lake and its outdoor area resembles a courtyard in a Spanish villa. Sit next to a blooming bush of roses and eat charcuterie all afternoon like an off-duty (read: unemployed) model. All the wine on the menu is for sale in the shop, where sommeliers wear navy lab coats and hundreds of bottles line dark, wood-paneled walls." - Nikko Duren

Google
Beautiful shop made of wood and soothing nostalgia, offering an interesting selection of wine, from drink-tonight to very rare bottles. Staff is knowledgeable and helps you navigate the shelves and options. Random French delicacies and pantry curiosities to marry with your wine. Very nice patio to get a drink and enjoy la joie de vivre.

This place is absolutely beautiful inside. It's like walking into a different world. The exact wine space you dream about! They also source a d stick fresh prosciutto, Italian conserves, and other pantry classics!

Previously this was my favorite neighborhood wine bar. The service was always friendly and the food and wine were great. Unfortunately I will no longer be going here because I feel as though they don’t care about their customers. I loved this place so much that I was planning on having my 30th birthday here. My partner went down and arranged it and 2 weeks later out of no where they posted on Instagram they were closing that same day. We reached out to try to get some details but we were ultimately left on read, ignored and left to find somewhere else to host my party. They still have not gotten back to us but posted yesterday that they reopened today. It’s very disheartening to feel ignored by a place you really loved and enjoyed spending free time. All we were hoping for was a bit of communication and that just never happened. Writing this as of 8/28/24. Edit 9/6/24 - still no response from them.

I love this place. Probably the best and most beautiful wine store in LA, with a very good and large selection of wines. The decoration itself made with vintage French apothecary furnitures is gorgeous. Very happy they extended the open hours to 10pm during the weekend because It didn’t make sense in the past to close so early (like 6-6:30pm). My only regret is the lack of wine experience and culture from the staff since the reopening. I have never had a great recommendation whereas the selection is amazing and has the potential to satisfy and surprise everyone. Maybe I didn’t get lucky. I will try again.

Google
The host / waitress was very dismissive and rude. Doesn’t seem like the vibe you want to bring if you hope to have recurring customers. Super cool interior so it’s a shame!

Google
Cute place next to intelligentsia coffee. Wine shop interior very nostalgic/old school wood with great bottle selections. Outside it is lively, high quality wine, food, cheese selections.

Google
The owner is awful, very rude, staff acts like they don't want to be there.

Darin was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The shop is gorgeous and easy to shop with a great selection. The shop must be under new management because I didn’t experience the vibes mentioned in some of the other reviews. I’ll def be back!

Yelp
Haiku Review ***** Silver lake magic Waitress called me sugar plum Dealt a solid burg

Yelp
They have a wonderful selection of older wines here, unfortunately the prices are much higher than you'd find elsewhere for the same bottles. I suppose if you aren't very informed, you'd pay what they're asking, but if you know your wine, you'd chuckle and buy online or elsewhere for hundreds less.

Yelp
Came here with one of my friends on a late Saturday afternoon and I will be returning next time again. We ordered the charcuterie meat board and the jamon, prosciutto, and pickles was chefs kiss. Wine selection was solid, we ordered two glasses of the chablis and skin contact. Both were perfect for a warm Summer's day. Only downside is sitting outdoor since there were a lot of gnats and fruit flies flying around. A mosquito ended up flying into my friends' glass lol. Service is on the slower side, but that is because they really only have two staff members serving. Will be returning for sure!

Yelp
The wine selection was nice and I was kindly offered tastes of the wines by the glass before ordering. Aside from that, service felt slow and disinterested. It was nice to sit in the patio and the cheese plate was pleasant but predictable. I liked that it was served with an assortment and adequate portion of dried fruit rather than only cheese. They don't offer gluten free alternatives to bread.

Yelp
Oooh la la!!! The ambiance is quintessential chilled french bistro/brasserie. My basic French was ready to soar. I had the Beet Salad! Extraordinaire! A BLT with mixed greens on the most fabulous crostillant pain. Can I gush over les carottes!!! Slightly Pickled with a spicy and peppery seasoning. I must ask how they did that. Mon verre du vin, a sauvignon blanc was so smooth and crisp. Je reviendrai dès que possible!

Yelp
This review is specifically for Chloe H. who served my friends and I on 10/9. We came at 6:30pm, aware that they were closing at 7pm so we asked if they were still open for drinks. Chloe said absolutely and took our order and asked if we wanted food before she closed the kitchen. We ordered a bottle of Sancerre, an order of fries, and pickled vegetables. They served us the bottle and pickled vegetables, but also an extra order of fries and olives. We told them we didn't order the extras but were told to keep, but of course got charged. Long story short, Chloe needs to check her attitude. There was a clear difference in how she treated customers in line in front of us and my friends and I as we came back to ask for an itemized receipt and she literally walked away while we were still talking to her. We truly will never come back due to her poor customer service. Really not sure how she's running a wine tasting program service w that attitude - literally driving customers away. Thanks Chloe!! ETA: attached a picture of the "tasting" my friend got at her tasting when everyone else had a full pour

Yelp
Cute little wine shop in Silverlake that has very interesting wines with beautiful labels! It's set back in a courtyard on Sunset Blvd. They have so many bottles! I decided on a Sauvignon Blanc to bring to my godmother who I'm visiting for Thanksgiving 2023

Yelp
Our friend came for their wine tasting night, so we decided to come early with her to grab a quick drink with her before the tasting. Our server CHLOE was so racist and being so rude towards us the entire night. She put in an extra order of olives and fries that we did not order, served it to us, and didn't even bother to take accountability for her wrong doing. Yes, we came in a little late before their private tasting event, but we asked if it was ok for us to stay or not and they said yes with welcome arms. However, that was not the case. I would've rather been told it wasn't okay and left than to be sneakily overcharged. The wine was so good but Chloe left a bitter taste that makes me never want to come back.

Yelp
I walked in tonight with the hopes to buy two bottles of something delish for a brunch party. The sommelier Chloe was very knowledgeable, patient and polite. Thanks for understanding my budget and making it work!

Yelp
I stumbled into silver lake. i then stumbled into this gem. truthfully, its where you should take the lady, if your around the area. it almost immediately reminded me of the experiences i had when i went to the south of france. patio, french chairs, sweet staff, the inside cellar... erin guided me through the shop, wines from all over. he guided me to a german wine, it would be relevant to an upcoming trip. neat place, the menu did not seem out of the ordinary, and its just a swell spot.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Had the absolute best service and attention from Chloe the Sommelier. She is a sweetheart and suggested the best wine and food for our evening. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
A little disappointed with my experience. My friend and I ordered two glasses of wine from the happy hour menu, then two glasses off the normal menu, and bought a bottle for $35 to take home. When paying, my friend gave them our cards, and then that was it. They didn't give us anything back to sign or to leave a tip with. I look and we're each charged $68 ($136 total)... so they just tipped themselves whatever they wanted?? Mind you, we never got a menu (don't know if they even have them). Is your wine $18 a glass on the happy hour and $22+ normally because the math isn't mathing

Yelp
For context, we showed up 30 minutes before closing because our friend was registered for a wine tasting special event. We asked Chloe if it was okay to buy a bottle, and she gave us a go ahead so we stayed. Only leaving one star due to Chloe - wine and food were great but the way we were treated was not. She added additional orders to the tab and then gave us attitude for speaking up. She also treated our friend poorly during the wine tasting event. Be weary.

Yelp
This is my favorite wine shop in LA by far. First of all, it's like a charming escape to France hidden in (almost) plain sight in the heart of Silverlake, and has the most delicious food! But what really makes this place a true gem is the vibrant, full-of-life young sommelier who knows her wines like the back of her hand, recommended the most delicious natural wine for me to enjoy with my dinner, and amazing wines to take home from the shop after dinner. What a gem! Can't wait to visit again soon!

Yelp
This place is unmatched! Such a hidden gem in Silver Lake, I felt like I had escaped into a little village in France, it is a total vibe. I can't say enough good things, we loved talking to Chloe, the sommelier, and learning about the amazing, unique wines they have! They seem to have some fun events coming up too, we will be back!

Yelp
We stumbled into this place over the weekend, and it was just such a lovely time. Food was great, attentive but not overbearing service, and the prices almost felt like pre-pandemic! Can't wait for the restaurant next door to open. This place will definitely go on heavy rotation!

Yelp
Small but beautiful courtyard garden space abutting Intelligensia right by Sunset Junction. Great little wine bar with several outside tables and a small but well curated wine shop inside. Great selection of homemade French food as well. Knowledgeable and friendly staff as well, prompt service on a Friday evening.

Elise M.

Yelp
Adore this place. Chloe the head sommelier is truly one of the best there is. So kind and such a generous spirit, plus endless knowledge to share, while always making you feel comfortable, no matter who you are. All you could want from a wine bar. Thank you.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Great wine selection at a wide price range. Food was delicious too - especially the jambon sandwich. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Incredible wine tasting experience! Very knowledgeable staff and vast wine selection.

Yelp
This place is awesome and unique! Loved it! They have an amazing wine list! They were very friendly and helpful! It's a beautiful space and tucked inside a little area that feels like you're in Paris or South of France !

Yelp
Found myself in Silverlake today, and stopped into this little boutique. It really looks like a French pharmacie inside (the shelves and counter are repurposed pieces from France!). A nicely curated selection of wines from all over, and the girl who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable.

Dan M.

Yelp
Fabulous wine store! Beautifully designed and curated with exquite bottles of wine for that special last minute gift or nightcap. Smells wonderful. A comely European vibe inside and out, with a little tasting room in the back that I promise is nothing short of extraordinary! This is a fantastic and fitting addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
I like this new spot quite a bit. I found the staff friendly and helpful, and they turned me on to a fabulous new (to me) Prosecco.

Yelp
Loved the curation and the service! Jess is a sweetheart and a total knowledgeable pro. The ambience of the place is perfect for having a couple glasses with friends. Don't skip this quaint little spot. Do yourself a favor and learn something new about some amazing wines!!!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Their Instagram page and website said they were open ... made the trek across town to see them. Got there at 11am on a Monday and they were not open, nor did they answer their phone.

Yelp
I miss the Silverlake Cheese store so much. As a restaurant, maybe it's cool. As a store, this place is obscene. The cheese bin is full of tiny cheeses that are stupidly priced (even for cheese, which is always relatively expensive). I paid $10 for essentially the rind of a Gouda. And I had to wait while some dude bro asked questions about almost every wine in the store.

Yelp
This establishment has the potential of being something terrific. However my first and only experience was less than hospitable. When we first entered the establishment the young lady didn't offer us any of the wines and we had to ask questions to pull answers out of her. Moreover we wanted to sit in the back room but she was directing us more towards the patio area as though she didn't want us sitting in the room. We got the subtle hints she was throwing so ended up sitting outside just to make her more comfortable. We purchased a bottle of wine ( by the way there's a twenty dollar corkage fee) and sat outside while she poured us the wine. While sitting there, we noticed there was cheeses and baguettes for sale and had to inquire about those. When we did inquire she let us know if we purchased items she would cut them up for us. I think I'm order to run a solid business and gain clientele relationships a sample platter would be nice to offer your client so that we know what to purchase. Other than that the wine was good which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. Dont think I'll be returning though.
