La Placita Taco Grill Review - Bird Road - Miami - The Infatuation

"La Placita is an outdoor taco shop on Bird Road that sells everything from bowls to burritos and salads. But we like the tacos and quesadillas best. You can order the three amigos, which comes with an arrachera, chicken, and al pastor taco. Normally, we’d consider chicken tacos the Chevy Chase of this Three Amigos clan. But it’s surprisingly juicy and seasoned well. The best taco here, though, is the mar y tierra—a surf and turf situation with shrimp, steak, citrus, cabbage, pico de gallo, and cilantro. It’s so stuffed, it’s impossible to keep it all in the tortilla." - Virginia Otazo

Place is small but has a ton of flavor! We had a few things and all of it was AMAZING!

Google
This is one my favorite taco places in the area. We got the Birria & Taco Costra 🌮which were delicious and the size of the portions were really good. We ended up getting an extra guacamole for the nachos because it was soo good! The servers were kind and fast. We'll definately be returning soon.🍻

Google
I ordered take out in North Miami, I get that it was a different kitchen. But it is under the same name and the menu is the same. The food was garbage. Onions in the placita bowl had barely touched the grill and are cold just you can tell were cooked for half a minute. There were small green sweet peas in the bowl, and mushrooms. It doesn't make any sense in said bowl, but maybe they didn't follow recipe tonight, I don't know. But everything has zero flavor, they barely used salt. It is absolute garbage food, and a blind cat with it's paws tied together could do better.

Google
Hoooooooo boy this place is good. A bit pricey but incredible tacos (~$5-7 per small taco). Birria tacos are a must. Fish taco, steak taco were all winners too. Nachos, omg, tons of meat and cheese just the way I like.

Hallie

Google
Delicious food, delicious sauces. I ordered the chicken quesadilla & timothee ordered the veggie tacos. Great portions!

Google
This new North Miami location is going to be my new go-to taco spot. The tacos de birria are excellent ande the broth is dense and full of flavor. The quality is the meats and general ingredients is top notch. You can tell the food is made with love. Will be back many times!

Google
Great Mexican Food @ La Placita Taco Grill. Fantastic Service and Big Portions! I strongly recommend their new Ribeye Costra Tacos, they were so good I asked for seconds

The owners are welcoming and kind. They make the food like it's for family. Amazing tacos, very fresh, crisp and perfectly seasoned. The best!

Yelp
A great spot for authentic Mexican food. The restaurant has a casual and festive atmosphere, with colorful decorations and lively music. The food is delicious and affordable, with a wide variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and other Mexican dishes. The service is friendly and attentive. Overall, I highly recommend La Placita Taco Grill for a fun and flavorful Mexican dining experience. Here are some of the highlights of my recent visit: Food: The food was excellent. I had the carne asada tacos, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tortillas were fresh and flavorful. I also tried the guacamole, which was made with fresh avocados and was very delicious. Ambiance: The ambiance was festive and fun. The restaurant was decorated with colorful lights and Mexican flags. There was also live music playing, which added to the atmosphere. Service: The service was friendly and attentive. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer all of our questions. Overall, I had a great experience at La Placita Taco Grill. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food in Miami

Yelp
The best tacos in Miami! Out door seating only. And very good guac. I have never had a bad experience here at La placita! Service is amazing and they love to make their customers happy. 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Really enjoyed this lovely little taco spot. People working were super friendly. I got 3 tacos al pastor-- I'm so incredibly picky with tacos, but they were good. I wish the meat was a bit more juicy. They gave me a ton of pineapple which I really really appreciated. The guacamole was fresh and delicious-- highly recommend. Jamaica was also bomb, but expensive for the size ($5 for a small cup). I looooooved the salsas. Overall I'd give this place a try again and maybe try some different meats next time. Overall I got 3 tacos with a decent amount of meat (comes with rice which was just ok), guac&chips, and Jamaica and it was $25. A little on the pricey side, but what's not these days. Since it's not like some big chain I'm definitely ok with spending more.

Yelp
La Placita is excellent. It's become mine and my bf's go-to place when we're craving something better than fast food but also not that fancy. It's connected to a row of 3-4 restaurants with covered outdoor seating but we've never had an issue with weather. The food is consistently good - hefty portions and comes out relatively quickly. The meat is always so juicy and tender. We usually get the birria tacos, Tulum bowl, and guac and chips. And sometimes one of the cocktails in a can too. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
Good, relatively quick taco grill! This is a tiny taco grill on Bird Road, in a row of a handful of open-air restaurants. If it's rainy, they have a vinyl "curtain" that they roll down to keep you dry. The service is pretty good. The guac is tasty, but a little small. The tacos in general are good, but the baja fish taco is fantastic!
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt to find the best birria in Miami since graduating from college because my college town has some hard to beat birria. My group and I ordered the birria quesadillas and the birria tacos. To my surprise the birria quesadilla tasted better than the tacos. The tacos were good just a little too greasy. We also ordered some chips with guac and pico de gallo. I didn't think the chip to guac/ pico ratio made much sense as the guac container only had enough for like 5 chips to be dipped. The pico de gallo also tasted very strange, I'm not sure if the tomatoes were bad or not but it had a peculiar taste. Overall I'd recommend their birria quesadilla if you're searching for anything birria.
google avatar

Cristin R.

Yelp
The birria tacos are amazing. Highly recommend ordering them. They come loaded with slow cooked beef, birria dipping sauce, red and green sauce and rice. My usual go to are the quesadillas. Those are loaded with the filling of your choice. I really like chicken or al pastor. They also come with sour cream and two sauces. I highly recommend both. The prices are also very reasonable.
google avatar

Coleman C.

Yelp
Very authentic tasting tacos, unlike most Miami tacos. The campechano will light you up, really spicy but incredible. Haven't had a taco like that in a while. Birria tacos were also good but I think they needed to load it up with more meat. The real star of the show is their sauces. The service was great, how it should be everywhere else. Cool spot too with two others restaurants in the same building if your group ain't feeling tacos. But you should never not be feeling tacos especially when they are this good.
google avatar

Mag T.

Yelp
Flavorless! All the tacos we ordered we're dry and unseasoned. Will not return. We got the Al Pastor and 3 amigos. Only positive was that our food was ready on time.
google avatar

Sacha M.

Yelp
This place is delicious! Heard about it through word of mouth and was recommended by a Mexican who said it was the most authentic she had tasted here in Miami so far. The guac was perfection! We did order out so I wasn't able to get a full feel for the actual restaurant but I will say I wish they would give more guac when you order out! Will definitely try again, this time at the location itself!
google avatar

Walter L.

Yelp
The food was okay, but difficult to eat with the overwhelming smell of horse excrement outside. The service was fine, for counter service, but the prices on our receipt differed from those on their video menu. I found it a bit pricey with most simple items around $25. My wife and I spent $39. That does not include a tip, which I typically do not leave with counter service anyway. We left half our food uneaten. Overall, this restaurant left me with no reason to return.

Yelp
La placita taco is excellent. Super fun spot. Great for a quick bite. The tacos are good.. I definitely recommend anything off the menu because everything is fresh and delicious.

Yelp
My favorite quick-stop taco spot in Miami! Outdoor seating right in front, bathrooms are available. 1. The chicken quesadilla = 5 stars!! Loved the taste of the chicken, and the mixed cheeses! Perfect, and evenly melted! Fresh! Comes with a small portion of sour cream (crema), salsa verde, salsa roja. *I always order an extra side of guacamole (the quesadilla does not come with one...) and I love the way the quesadilla is further enhanced in flavor with their guacamole! 2. Ribeye tacos = 5 stars!! My partners favorite taco! I rarely eat red meat, I tried a small bite and it was extremely fresh!! It comes with their guacamole on top and cilantro! Wow.... It truly is very good. 3. We have tried the 'trio tacos' = 4 stars, because not all the tacos were 'out of this world' tasty, compared to the ribeye taco. But if someone enjoys having a mixed selection of tacos, they should definitely give it a try. 4. Side of chips and guacamole = 5 stars! Crispy chips and the guacamole is very fresh! They also have awesome drink/soda options (the pineapple jarritos is my favorite)! I have already been back twice after my first experience on June 15th! I recommend everyone stoping by and checking out this Mexican-inspired food establishment. I will be returning for my amazing quesadilla! But I am also making plans to try their brunch, which features their chilaquiles!! Will be reporting back once I do. Take great care and talk soon fellow Yelpers! **AJ

Yelp
This place is SO GOOD! We ordered the shrimp tacos and the bad hombre taco. The shrimp taco was light, loaded, and very flavorful. The bad hombre had a nice kick to it and also tasted great. The portions are great for the price and come with a side of rice that was delicious. We also ordered the esquites which were super good. Just when I thought I was done ordering I ended up getting an horchata which was the perfect sweet treat after a delicious meal. Definitely check this spot out!

Yelp
A quick stop for decent tacos. Honestly I expected amazing tacos because this place is kind of pricey but we left a bit disappointed. The chips and cheese were like AMC movie theater type. It was Pretty awful. However the Beers were served ice cold and service was excellent. Very friendly.

David D.

Yelp
This place is excellent! After I ate the steak bowl, I came back for the same thing the next day. The staff and owners are great to work with, very friendly and grateful for the business. I decided to take their food to the staff of a local hospital where I am doing business. What a hit! Everyone bragged how delicious their food is. I continue to receive calls from the hospital asking me where I had got the delicious food from. I highly recommend La Placita! Enjoy!!

Juan Carlos A.

Yelp
Great service and goood tacos! Loved the Jamaica tea, the costra tacos and the birria tacos
google avatar

Arellys A.

Yelp
Their service was great helpful as soon as we were ready to order. Perfect weather to come and eat outside great ambience and good music. We started off with the chips and guacamole, I wish the chips were warm! They were delicious and crunchy and salty!!! the guacamole was extremely flavorful and paired well with a nice modelo. My husband ordered the chicken burrito and I ordered the arrachera tacos. The chicken burrito was accompanied with chips and side of sour cream, once you get to the middle of the burrito that's the most flavorful part. The tacos were nice and toasty and topped well with onion and cilantro. I just wish everything was a little warmer. Tacos were paired with their rice which was tasty and satisfying overall. I highly recommend coming here for a savory experience!
google avatar

Alexis P.

Yelp
Not exactly what I had in mind. I thought it would be authentic tacos full of flavor. It was good enough but missing a LOT of seasoning and flavor. As a cook myself, I expected way more... especially from what I read on the reviews. Great price - YES but not great taste. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5
google avatar

Leah W.

Yelp
La Placita: the Birra Tacos are the bomb, the jalapeños are spicy and the Placita Bowl is everything your taste buds ever dreamed of.
google avatar

Chad J.

Yelp
Excellent and authentic Mexican food. The carnitas quesadilla is fantastic and I also recommend the burritos and tacos. Never had a bad meal here. Order at the counter and expect fast, friendly service. Great spot and always quick.

Yelp
I am new to this area of Miami. I am always on the lookout for new great food spots. I saw this place and knew I had to check out their tacos and the rest of their menu Wow was I pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Alambre Arracheria tacos. Which is grilled angus steak with bacon, grilled onions, bell peppers and melted cheese. I add pickled onions to them since I love them. The steak was super tender and juicy! They were served super hot off the grill with 3 juicy limes and red and green homemade hot sauces. The flavor of these were amazing! They were nicely filled with steak and were not skimpy at all! I loved them and can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious foods. Especially the Birria tacos and quesadilla. Even the owner came out to make sure I liked them.
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
I tried this place two times before I made a review, I decided to try different types of tacos each time. The location is tiny and shared with three other restaurants. Limited seating, but the staff was friendly and attentive. The tacos are bland and have very little flavor, both times I was underwhelmed. There are far superior taco places in Miami in my opinion, I won't return.
google avatar

Lilly G.

Yelp
One of our favorite quick spots! Home to our favorite chips and Guac and the cheesiest quesadilla. Love this little locally owned spot
google avatar

Cristina Z.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious taco platter. My daughter and I stopped by here for a quick bite after a long day of shopping and we where so happy with our tacos, chips and guacamole! We are planning to come back with the entire family next time. Great customer service as well.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
had higher expectations from the other ratings. not bad but i wouldn't come back. it feels as though as it's just not worth the calories. also a bit puzzled why a steak taco would have potato. It is very clean for a little random hole in the wall though
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
This place is amazing and I think everybody should know!!!! The food is delicious and the service is top tier. I eat here at least once a week sometimes even more since I work right around the corner and they're super quick. They're an outdoor spot but the vibes for this place are all good always. Just got Take out!!
google avatar

Bethany C.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE taco spot in Miami point blank. I've been to many other restaurants and no one compares to the arrachera tacos here, it is absolutely delicious and the meat is super tender. They never disappoint and tacos are filled a lot with meat. Place is always clean and ready to serve you which is a bonus from me.
google avatar

Ricardo C.

Yelp
Authentic freshly made tacos. Service was attentive and tacos came out in just a few minutes. Our favorites were the Baja fish tacos, fresh fish, crunchy light beer batter breading with tasty citrus cabbage and other garnishes, and a nice portion size. We also ordered the trio of tacos carnitas and pastor, which were very good but not the best. Flavor was a notch below some of my favorite pastor and carnitas taco options here in Miami.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
It's like winning the lottery when you can just search for a random taco spot and it turns out being authentic, delicious, outdoor, high quality ingredients, and authentic flavor (this part is the key). This place has them all, and the owner Daniel, is one of the most charming owners I've encountered in a long time. We ordered the ribeye, the arrachera, and carnita tacos. They came out with red and green salsa and plenty of lime. Ribeye: the best of the best. Wow what a blast of flavor and the quality of the meat is the first thing you notice. Gourmet-ish but still authentic. They even put little pieces of potato in this one. So good and my fav. Carnitas: not greasy yet super juicy and flavorful (the owner came by and told us he does this by design). They were really top-notch. Lastly the arrachera: it was tender and reminds you of eating at a carne asada. This is what resembles the most classic carne asada steak taco but it was again above the average in the quality department. Overall I'm so glad I stopped by this place. I was so hungry I didn't even take a pic! I will be back!!
google avatar

Elias D.

Yelp
It was good, I had the al pastor tacos they were good but just a bit over seasoned/ salty otherwise they were pretty packed with meat and tasted good.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
This place is a gold mine!!! Most authentic tacos in Miami! Must order the crispy chicken tacos that comes on a bed of rice and chipotle mayo. Their bowls are to die for and my personal favorite is the Veracruz Bowl- about 7 pieces of shrimp, rice and beans, sautéed onions, pico de gallo and their special cabbage! I have never ordered something from this restaurant that I didn't like! MUST try I promise you'll be coming back!

Yelp
La Placita Taco has the best food and micheladas in town. Dominique is fantastic, and the service is excellent. I love the atmosphere!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
We have passed this place so often but never stopped. We are so happy we finally gave it a try. I order the Placita Bowl and not only was it a good portion, the chicken was moist and flavorful, there were generous amounts of grilled veggies, rice , beans. But really got me was delicious sauce they served with it. My lunch partner ordered the 3 tacos which although small (street size) they were full of flavor and were a definite hit.
google avatar

Diana A.

Yelp
I always drive passed this place to and from work and finally decided to check it out. Worth it!! The al pastor tacos and the chorizo & potato tacos were delicious!! They have three different types of sauces and I can't even say which one was the best because they were all super flavorful and gave the tacos that extra boost of deliciousness. Truly recommend!

Justin V.

Yelp
La Placita Taco Grill delivers a five-star dining experience across the board. From the moment you step in, the vibrant ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The food is exceptional, boasting authentic flavors and fresh ingredients that tantalize the taste buds. Service is impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring every need is met promptly and courteously. Whether you're craving traditional tacos or exploring their diverse menu, La Placita Taco Grill exceeds expectations, making it a must-visit destination for Mexican cuisine enthusiasts.

Yelp
Amazing tacos is all I can say about La Placita. No fuss. No pretentiousness. Just legit, absolutely delicious tacos. Get one. Get two. Get four. Get many! Order different ones to share and taste different things! Your tummy will thank me later. Eat in or carry out. Wash it with a couple of modelo or dos equis and enjoy to the max!

Yelp
yum! yum!! yum!!!! the best "ribeye tacos " i've everrrr had. rat here!! ribeye tacos & chilaquiles...whoop whoop!! you

Yelp
Since my first visit, La Placita has become my go-to Mexican food spot. While I do like the casual, al fresco atmosphere, since baby came along, we find ourselves relying on delivery which they provide via Postmates. When #YelpsBigNightIn rolled around, we knew some tacos were in order! I love a good quesadilla, burrito, and the like, but their tacos are among the best I've had. Whether meat or veggie filled, they're always stuffed with super fresh ingredients. They come with three different salsas which vary in spice level and flavor, so you're bound to find the right compliment for your order. Pair that with some guac, and you have the perfect meal. There's nothing like a nice Jarrito or Sidral Mundet to wash it all down. More than enough food for two comes out to around $40 including delivery/tip. I'm so happy they're still open for my self quarantine cravings and I know it won't be too long until I have to order again!
google avatar

Roxana N.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here yesterday and was completely satisfied with my meal. I ordered the chicken tacos and my boyfriend got the chicken quesadillas. Both entrées were plentiful and priced fairly (~$10 each). The chicken quesadillas were thick and filled with gooey cheese and lots of grilled chicken. The chicken tacos came with my favorite corn tortillas and topped with a plethora of delicious vegetables (3 per order). The food came presented nicely and with pico on the side. We ordered guac and chips to go with our meal, which was also delicious (~$5). Delivery was also surprisingly fast! Can't wait to order again :) I

Yelp
Holy Yum! La Placita Taco Grill has been on my hit list for a while and I am so happy I popped in for lunch. Located on Bird Road it's part of a food stand where there are a few other tasty spots. I was craving tacos, but when I spotted their burrito menu my heart skipped a beat. I love Al Pastor, so I got that in burrito form and it was SUCH a great choice for my life. The burrito is massive - I couldn't finish the whole thing. Super flavorful and packed with beans, rice, and of course - meat. I got a side of guac with my burrito and it was great. The burrito comes with salsas which you can tell are made in house. Super spicy and fresh. Loved my visit here and will definitely be back to try more things!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite authentic Taco Spots here in Miami... The owners are super friendly & the food is absolutely amazing! I don't have pictures for this one but you can take my word for it that everything on this menu is GREAT

Yelp
Great food. Great people. Get the chicken tacos. Service is awesome. Giant menu with a ton of options.

Yelp
I've been coming here for quite some time now. I wanna say a little over 2 years now, and I absolutely love this spot. I could of swear I left a review before ,,, but hey I do t mind doing another one. You guys rock! So originally I always the Michoacán bowl. It's pulled pork, rice black beans , plantains with a delicious salad in a bowl. Oufffffff, beyond delicious. Always hits the right spot. Never had one disappointment moment at la Plácita. The guac and chips are fire. The fish Baja tacos are my new addiction. My girl really loved them. I think they're definitely one the best fish tacos we've tried so far. The carnitas tacos really good too. So If you looking for a best taco spot in south Miami,,, you've found it. Don't hesitate to give this place a try. I promise you won't regret it at all. And if you guys can bring the cold coconut waters back that would be awesome. Thanks for always being delicious and keep doing your thang.

Irma B.

Yelp
I used to love tacos here, I went few times. Not anymore. 'Bad hombres' tacos flooded with vinegar and coleslaw; the only flavor was vinegar. This place is costly for tacos, but I used to like it.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Service and food was phenomenal! Fresh & Tasty Birria Quesadilla. All was clean and well kept.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Best nachos around at a great price. Don't Let the funky outdoor setup of the place fool you.
google avatar

Liamna M.

Yelp
The owner was very sweet! He really loves his business, ohhh and they are just newly opening a sangria/ liquor little bar. Great spot for a lunch break. Really enjoyed the chips and guac. The meat in the tacos could have a bit more flavor but with some side sauce (which he genuinely provides) it makes it much better. I recommend coming here if you want a nice fresh quick taco spot !
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
Expensive is my immediate and final thought. The Barbados and Cochinita Pibil were the best of the taco trio plate. It comes with two salsas. You do get a lot of meat and the tacos are good. But, coming from LA, I get these tacos everywhere for a fraction of the price. Sides are extra. I guess it's one of the better upscale street taco places in Miami.
