New restaurant in Miami for authentic Mexican food.... Tacos, Burritos, Bowls, Quesadillas!!
"La Placita is an outdoor taco shop on Bird Road that sells everything from bowls to burritos and salads. But we like the tacos and quesadillas best. You can order the three amigos, which comes with an arrachera, chicken, and al pastor taco. Normally, we’d consider chicken tacos the Chevy Chase of this Three Amigos clan. But it’s surprisingly juicy and seasoned well. The best taco here, though, is the mar y tierra—a surf and turf situation with shrimp, steak, citrus, cabbage, pico de gallo, and cilantro. It’s so stuffed, it’s impossible to keep it all in the tortilla." - Virginia Otazo
"La Placita is offering a Puerto Rican family style holiday platter featuring roasted pork, pasteles (think tamales but instead of corn, it is made with green plantain or yuca), arroz con gandules (rice and pigeon peas), morcillas (blood sausages), and sweet plantains. The $36 platter serves two to three people and is available all month long for dine in or take out." - Stacy A. Moya
"Pubbelly mastermind Jose Mendin has channeled his Puerto Rican roots for his latest restaurant, La Placita. The colorful space is hard to miss with its bright Puerto Rican flag decorating the front of the space. Inspired by San Juan’s colorful Mercado Santurce, which locals call “La Placita,” it recently transformed itself into four different eateries including grab-and-go juice bar, farmer’s market, a taqueria, plus a full-service eatery with plates ranging from $5-19. Available for takeout and dine-in." - Carlos Olaechea, Olee Fowler
"As a result of the pandemic, chef Jose Mendin’s Puerto Rican restaurant La Placita has reinvented itself as a one-stop spot offering four different eateries offering to-go juices, tacos, a green market, and a “Piggy Bank” Placita menu where all items range from $5 to $19. Favorites include the tripleta Boricua, roasted pork, country ham, fritas and salsa marirosa, mofongo ramen, and fried cheese with guava. Wash it down with a boozy piña colada, which is available to-go." - Alona Martinez
"La Placita by Jose Mendin is offering Miami Spice to-go for both lunch and dinner featuring fan-favorites such as its classic mofongo, queso frito with guava sauce, and alcapurrias. Guests can order directly from UberEats or call the restaurant to place their order. Available for lunch Tuesday through Friday and every day for dinner." - Amber Love Bond
