La Planque En Perche

On our way to South-West France, we usually stop halfway, in the Loire Valley area. We then look for a friendly “Chambre d’Hôte,” preferably with the option of having dinner on-site. This time, we chose La Planque en Perche, based on positive reviews and because it had a restaurant on-site as well as an electric charging station, as stated in the confirmation message of our reservation: “Un parking gratuit est mis à votre disposition. Le parking est équipé d'une station de recharge pour les véhicules électriques”. We were assigned a spacious room, and the dinner at the restaurant was tasty. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was less positive. When we inquired if we could charge our electric car, we were told that it was not possible because the owner’s car was charging and that would take at least 36 hours! That’s quite inconvenient when you have included that charging session in the charging schedule and your battery is nearly empty in the French countryside. The room was spacious, but the heating element in the bathroom did not work. The small portable heater provided as a replacement had to be restarted every four minutes. In the toilet, there was less than half a roll of toilet paper available. We had to ask for an extra roll at the bar. The final unpleasant surprise came after we had already fully paid the bill and left La Planque. My credit card company let me know that on the day of our departure, La Planque had reserved an amount of €200 on my account. When asked, Stéphane informed me that this was a “caution bancaire” (bank deposit) that would be refunded. But why withhold a deposit for a week when everything has been paid and we have already left? In short, a disappointing stay at La Planque that we will not repeat. Next time, we will go to a truly welcoming Chambre d’Hôte in the Loire Valley!

We went for a dinner and had a memorable time at La Planque en Perche. The cuisine was tasteful and unique. I was happy to find ingredients of my roots in Japan. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, make sure to check the menu in advance ! Stephane and Julie have created a warm and welcoming space. We would highly recommend.

A magical place. You can’t even imagine how beautiful and carefully decorated is this place until you visit. We had dinner for my husband’s birthday. The food is unexpected and delicious, locally sourced, max 20 km away from the property. They have an incredible selection of wines, including organic and natural wines. The place is owned by Stephane and his wife, we met their lovely daughters who were playing with a baby chick called D’artagnan in the garden. This is truly a gem, a gourmand escape where you can delight your eyes, your palate and all of your senses. The room we stayed in was perfect for a family, including a sauna. We will be back without any doubt. It’s worth every km we drove from Amsterdam, we leave with an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

Incredible location and team! We almost never rate 5 stars but the place feels intimate, is very clean and the view is amazing. The restaurant is very cosy and the atmosphere relaxed. The food is prepared with local ingredients and you can taste the passion from the kitchen. Thanks for the great care and it’s very likely we will visit again!

We spent two days with Julie and Stephane who were very kind and helpful. Our room has a wonderful view over the fields facing east and the sunrise. The room had a desk perched on a loft in the room. With a stable Wi-Fi it was easy to stay in touch with work. The restaurant is only open during the weekend, but the room has a fridge where you can keep snacks and there is an honesty bar for drinks. There are several other restaurants within 15-20 min drive. I warmly recommend La Planque for a chill couples vacation.

I booked 2 rooms on Booking.com and when I arrived at the hotel at 10 PM the manager told us that there is no room available for our stay. Our vacation schedule was messed up.

On a adoré se « planquer » 24h dans ce lieu magique. La chambre , avec sa vue tel un tableau sur un paysage hors du temps. Un dîner au coin du feu au restaurant qui nous a régalé . Merci pour votre goût, talent et gentillesse.
