Yelp
I think this just may be my first one star...I hate to but in hopes that management will read all the terrible reviews & make changes I must be honest. And keep in mind I am patient, understanding, & get times have been tough this last year of Covid.
BUT....the restaurant hours say it opens at 11am...even the lifeguard at beach (which is where we were enjoying our morning) said so.
At 11:05 we left our beach things in the car & started heading up the side stairs close to handicap parking. As a special needs mom I was curious if they had elevator I didn't see one, but there is a pretty long windy ramp in the back by beach for those in need.
We walked into a literally empty restaurant & all the staff was doing something like cleaning, one was sweeping, another rolling silverware, another preparing the bar. Finally after 15 mins the one sweeping came over after I called out to her & asked if their menu was online (I assumed so since no one came over, but than again there were no scan codes on table there was nothing on tables actually not even sanitizer which is the norm these days right?).
She rudely gave me menus with a note of "kitchen doesn't really start until 11:30" so yeah. That's all, she didn't say BUT in the meantime can I get you some water or a cocktail/beer/soda literally was about to walk away to get back to sweeping. I had to ask her BUT I can order some drinks while we wait right. At this point people started rolling in maybe another 3-4 small parties. I felt like I had to wave down waitress for everything even to finally order. LAST I checked restaurants staff comes in an hour early before open to be ready to service at opening hour.
After seeing the service, & overpriced menu I honestly wanted to leave but the view did keep me from going. And the false hope I had that the reviews would be wrong & the food would be yummy. Well it wasn't worth the wait.
I ordered the fish dip without the sides & it tasted like canned tuna really not a good fish dip at all. A couple miles over at Blackpoint they have a real good fresh one. This one even had an odd coloring. I only ate one scoop.
My second order was for a kiddo chicken fingers & fries for $9.36 a bit steep for a kids meal with 5 small little pieces of chicken which aren't big enough to even call them fingers. Really should say "chicken bites".
The tap water taste bad, so order a bottle.
I asked how much it'd be for a cocktail just pineapple juice & malibu rum & they said $14. I don't mind paying certain things, but that's ridiculous for not even a cocktail. A shot of rum & juice. Goes with the same I said about food prices. STEEP!
Overall the only thing this place has going for them is the ocean view..it could be such a nice place to frequent if the customer service was even a little up to par & the food was good. Hire a new chef, trust me your return of investment will pay off.
Tips to owner:
Train staff or hire nicer people who smile, with some beach vibes perhaps.
Hire a chef like yesterday.
If you know there are lots of flies, invest in zappers, or hang some water filled ziplocs like they do in the carribean islands... it works.
Be ready to serve at opening hours or change open time. Or at the least bring some water & maybe chips on the house while you make guest wait.
It a beautiful location, you can do so much better in the reastaurant to match the views.
