I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’m so glad I stopped by, in the mean time, I’m disappointed that I only to see these exhibitions the last day of trip. It is very emotional and powerful. It gives you a well all around introduction of the Mexican-American history, that explains lots of my questions during my visit. I guess because this is a newer museum, it talks about indigenous people’s history before Spanish settler came and destroyed the local society. I appreciate this presentation. Didn’t really see other places around the area talk about this. It’s definitely important for people to know. Powers to everyone fight for social justice!

This place is awesome. Always beautiful artwork, plus the entertainment outside during special events is amazing.

Great little museum! Lots of cool stuff and lots to see. It was really a great place to stop in. Free admission and a cute lite gift shop with stuff of a lot of culture.

Google
Fantastic cultural history museum. Never knew it was here and it had a wealth of history here. I'm glad I brought my son here to show him. I knew these events happened but the level of detail and personal stories helped reinforce it all. Boxing history. The way of life. Great.

Google
An absolutely essential visit for any LA or California history buffs! And it’s close to the Chinese American Museum too if you want a double whammy of essential Los Angeles history. The labor movement, the red-lining of LA, the mass illegal deportation of American citizens, it’s dark stuff but it is important to know our history in order to try to avoid repeating it

Google
It's a great place to find a class, workshop, or exhibition that share the narratives of so many Latino@s in LA. They provide community space and offer free or low-cost programs for LA residents to share and preserve our roots through arte and stories. This has also been the home of LatinaFest for 6 years and is a blast to attend in the right weather. The parking is a bummer but if you can find all-day parking there is so much to enjoy and discover. It's in the heart of LA across from Placita Olvera, near Chinatown, near Grand Station, and even close to Los Feliz Flea at Vintageland.

Google
A wonderful museum with cultural based exhibits. The front desk was welcoming and admission was free. The area around the museum is filled with culture and history. The exhibits themselves were also pretty interesting. I was only able to visit “LA Starts Here” and “Linda Vallejo” which we’re both on the first floor. There are more exhibits on the second floor, but didn’t have time to visit them. Both exhibits talk about the culture before Americans colonized California and also the discrimination and violent acts that they suffered against. The “Linda Vallejo” exhibit also had beautiful art works and statistics about the Latino population. Overall, the exhibits were interesting and was definitely worth the visit.

If you haven't been to this jewel of Mexican culture and art, you're missing a two story, professionally done space with changing exhibits. Historical and contemporary depictions of Mexican life in Los Angeles; depicted using brilliant photography, video and recreated street life spaces. It's free and open every day except Tuesday.

Yelp
Immediately as you walk thru the entrance, you see in big black letters "Olympic" Wrestling details are below. As we were about to walk back thru time. I never realized how important the Grand Olympic Auditorium is an exhibition recounting the 80-year history (1925-2005) of the Olympic Auditorium, the home for visceral entertainment in Los Angeles. Who recalls Andre the Giant ? Well, he was the one I'd recall. The amount of information regarding boxers and wrestlers had me a bit overwhelmed. I will be coming back before this exhibit ends, which is May 19,2024. Their exhibit is on the 1st 2nd floor. There are tour guides. I opted out for that so I could take it all in. What grasped my interest was Pio Pico, who was a politician, ranchero, entrepreneur, he was famous for serving as last governor of Alta California under Mexican rule. He was one of the wealthiest men, and a few things were named after him, such as Pico Blvd, Pico Reviera, Pio Pico state park, and numerous entities that bare his name Sadly, he lost everything once.

Yelp
Finally got to visit. Free admission. Super friendly staff. I was hoping to see more historical artifacts but I appreciate the work they all put in. You would never know you are in a building 140 year old building.

Yelp
When we saw that Diplo was bringing Higher Ground to Los Angeles, my wife and I could not miss this show. This was the first time either of us attended this venue and we were surprised to see that it's a big outdoor space. There are parking lots nearby but we took an Uber to be safe. LA plaza felt like a large campus that had plenty of standing room and we all had access to actual indoor bathrooms (thank god). The layout is entirely cement and the stage/dance-floor was built over the grassy area. We saw security spread throughout the venue and also the staff kept everything clean. We felt safe and comfortable which allowed us to dance the night away.

Yelp
This place is top notch! Everybody should come here. There really is no excuse to not come to La Plaza de Cultura y Artes. The museum is free. It is right across from Olvera Street. Right near Union Station. Right next to Downtown LA, Little Tokyo. Not far from Arts District. If you are doing anything in any of those places mentioned, you can make a pit stop. La Plaza is so educational and interesting. It mainly focuses on Chicanx and Los Angeles history. But they do have a historical area where they talk about how Mexican and indigenous people helped shape our country and California. Their revolving exhibitions are quality. I've gone to about 3 or 4 of these revolving exhibitions and they are always so informative. You can tell that it is put together by people passionate about the subject matter. The staff is always so nice. I have never had any bad experiences. I can talk about this all day but ultimately you should go. It is free and educational. Leave a donation (whatever you can do) so that this place stays forever. I love it here and I'm sure you will too.

Roxanne E.

Yelp
A very special and wonderful place full of Latin and Afro-Latin culture and history. I love heir Summer Of Salsa events! Magic happens under the stars on that outdoor dance floor. This is a very special place and it's a must-see for visitors from all over the globe. Rich in culture and the beautifully woven histories of the Latin experience in Los Angeles.

Yelp
I loved this little casa de cultura/museum. It is across the street from historic Olvera Street. We had a little less than two hours before our tickets for an exhibit a couple miles away - which in LA means you have about 15 minutes after traffic and parking lol. Well, I *really* wanted to see LA Plaza's current Patriotism in Conflict and L.A. Memo exhibits - plus entrance is FREE. So I wanted to come by even for 15 minutes haha Street parking is next to impossible. We paid $15 for the lot next to the museum. I could swear it said masks required but there were some patrons inside not masked. As you enter, you are greeted and given a brief description of the current exhibits, you are then welcomed in. The museum is a compact two story structure, and it's filled with as much as they could fit. There are a number of rooms on the first floor each part of one of four exhibits. The second floor seemed to be permanent or long standing exhibits focused on history. Bathrooms are also upstairs, very clean. I am super glad we made time to stop by even if it was a shorter visit than o would have liked. I am keeping an eye out for future exhibitions.

Mark B.

Yelp
This facility was a pleasant surprise. It has got some interesting detail about the history of Los Ángeles and the various roles Native and Mexican peoples played in it. I'm not sure I would call every opinion presented as factual but I was enlightened by the perspective - nothing too radical but different from what I learned in the Midwest. Even if you're meh about the subject matter you should be aware that admission is free and IT HAS NICE AC! The staff is helpful too The art is more interesting for its perspective that necessarily its execution. What I found fun was the rec-creation of "mainstreet" from a Mexican-American point of view from about 100 years ago. Cesar Chavez exhibit was limited but pretty good. The history of protests is good as it provides background to events the play out in LA every so often.

Yelp
-Free entry. -Opening Hours: Wednesday through Monday 12-5pm. Closed Tuesday. -PAID PARKING LOTS: -LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes' parking lot, 171 Arcadia Street (Thursdays through Sunday, 7am - 3pm. Lot closed at 6pm) -El Pueblo Parking Lot 2, 615 N. Main Street -LA Plaza Village Parking Lot, 555 North Broadway -Metro Plaza Parking, 711 N. Main Street -El Pueblo Parking Lot 4, 426 Los Angeles Street For a free museum, this is a pretty large space, with multiple exhibits. I didn't find them particularly engaging and not everything functioned as well as it could, however, I was still impressed at the size and scope of the museum given its lack of entrance fee. The exhibits had a few interactive components which was cool. There were plenty of exhibits for small children to explore (upstairs). I also appreciated that they had a gallery dedicated specifically to art. Personally, I did not like the artist on view. However, I loved the two pieces from the artist's wife. For me, they stole the show. Either way, I love that they found space for art amidst all the history exhibits. The gift shop was quite large with a variety of items. Friendly staff. Overall, I'm glad this place is being financed and is able to operate as a free cultural center.

Lucho V.

Yelp
Free entrance and amazing art. What else can I ask for. Clean museum with something for everyone. Two floors showcasing beautiful art and historic memorabilia. Interactive activities for the kiddos. One must visit their gift shop. They have unique items and the staff is very friendly. We spent about an hour there and enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to go back.

Jessica H.

Yelp
This place was incredible. There's so much culture in this area of downtown and the museum further emphasized it. The paintings and exhibitions were beautiful and touching. They also made the place festive for Christmas. Highly, highly recommend. My favorite, heartbreaking piece was the showcasing of the clothes, shoes, and other belongings left by migrants and their families while crossing the border. It's free and shouldn't be. The gift shop was great too. I got a concha pillow!

Yelp
An excellent museum with complex, educational, and thoughtful exhibits. Admission is free. Not sure about the hours but every time I go it's been on a weekend and it's been opened and in full swing. I've had a smooth friendly visit each time I've visited. Welcoming staff, stunning displays of perfectly preserved artifacts. There was an exhibit going on the second floor which I was lucky to enough to catch the last bit of. It was a very moving exhibit featuring photographs and artifacts about boarder crossing. I had to hold back tears, the images and artifacts were so haunting. Brought my husband and grandma to check it out, we were all very touched by each artifact. To know that so many innocent people have passed away journeying on foot, seeing the map with all the body tags was so chilling. The world needs to see this and become educated and understand that there is social injustice happening at the boarder and innocent people should be taken care of and protected, not left to desperately make such a risky venture. It's been up for a year and it's now being taken down July 9. I hope this exhibit comes back, I believe it should be a permanent exhibit so that the world can hopefully begin to see that this is a serious issue and that we need to help people safely enter the country that doesn't involve risking their lives. Facility is lovely, close to a public parking lot ($15 flat on the weekend for all day parking), near Olivera Street. No food or drink allowed inside, very family friendly, wheel chair and stroller accessible. I highly recommend checking out this museum. There's also a cute little fire house museum adjacent to this museum but I'm not entirely sure if it's opened during the construction. Also worth checking out Union Station just across the street too.

Yelp
La Plaza de Culturas y Artes is a beautiful jewel box in the middle of all the DTLA. I have been here several times and each and every time, I walk away feeling inspired, informed and at peace with the world. The permanent exhibits touch upon various aspects of LA history oftentimes excluded by most museums. The revolving exhibits are always intriguing and curated immaculately. I have been to several programs including a talk by renowned artist Margaret Garcia, concerts, film showings along with panel discussions, markets, and plays. All again, are curated beautifully. Also, entrance is free. As such, I always stop by the museum store. It has an endless variety of quality products including art. Everything is reasonably priced and presented well. This museum is ADA friendly with elevators and space for those that need it. Funnily enough, I find the bathrooms to be done in good taste. Bizarre as it sounds. They're always clean. I'm a picky lady, I notice these things. The building that houses this institution is historical and preserved lovingly. I'd also recommend taking a stroll around the gardens as they use native flora and as such, they are thriving. In terms of practical matters, I always journey here using the train that goes to Union Station. As such, parking isn't an issue. Keep in mind when driving that it is not fun to try and find parking, be prepared. Also, on a side note, there are homeless and they do not smell of roses. Just a little mental preparation is all you need. Nothing in LA is perfect. Overall, this place is amazing. I hope it continues to inspire generations to come.

Yelp
This place is great! Super informative! Admission is free and it's 2 stories!! Parking is a hassle and the only options are street or nearby paid lots. We weren't planning on coming here but we entered anyway upon passing by and learning admission was free. They do check vaccination records for Covid and you do have to keep your mask on. The museum featured honestly so much! It's also super interactive! They set up small rooms for you to walk through that display culture and what certain rooms were like such as stores. You honestly learn a lot here and i definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
This museum has a lot of heritage going on. This is really a good part of LA. You've come to this museum and see a lot of good cultures let's Dino Dino, Coach. this museum has a lot of art a lot of culture. In a lot of history you can visit this museum here in LA you'll see the deep heart of LA the roots of LA. The museum has a lot of his art in there we came here cause they're representing a beautiful young lady of Isabella Duco figure Roa she's an artist and she's up-and-coming well-known artist. Do you look out for her work you will see in detail her culture. Her mix F Excellency she's Filipino, Mexican and Puerto Rican, but her heart is an art. She's a good deep culture in our artistic ways. If you have not seen her look her up, check her out this museum is a good museum to stop by and visit. I recommend this place parking you have to get the private parking what is next to a very historic church catholic church and it's also by Alvaro Street check it out it's very historic

Yelp
Amazing little gem in the heart of LA. Kids had a great time in the 2nd floor activities. I absolutely loved the art displayed in the first floor. The store offers a variety of items. Please support if you can.

Crystal L.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about this place as a meeting space... it's absolutely beautiful. The staff is incredible. I have honestly never worked with a better staff while planning a meeting. These folks could NOT be more accommodating or helpful - whether it was the fantastic security staff that let me in an hour early or the amazing meeting planners that made sure everything was exactly as we needed - from the set up of the tables to the temperature in the room. This is an LA gem... owned by the County... and if you have a meeting or event you need to plan, I implore you to look at this place. It's gorgeous. And the staff are complete rock stars. Winner - winner all the way.

Nicole R.

Yelp
Drove 40 min, parked in pay lot. Walked to door and closed for inventory...no mention of closure anywhere on website. This was my second try to come to this museum, first time they were also unexpectedly closed. Terrible communication. Word of advice, hours on website mean nothing, call before you even try to come. What a disappointing experience.

Kal L.

Yelp
Another gem of a museum in the historic El Pueblo de Los Angeles. La Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a museum dedicated to the history of Los Angeles from the perspective of Mexican and Mexican-Americans. A highly informative and interactive museum that covers two floors, the exhibits are both in English and Spanish. A part of the wing is currently closed for renovation however it will reopen around Nov 5th. Hours are Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 12pm-5pm and closed on Tuesday.

Jessica T.

Yelp
We were visiting Placita Olvera with my in-laws who had not been to the area in years. My husband and I had been to this museum before and remembered really liking it, so we brought them to check it out. Admission is free, staff is friendly, and the exhibits are amazing. As a Mexican American, I love learning about my history and I know my in-law did too. I think this was actually their first time at a museum!! Each exhibit had a description in both English and Spanish, which helped them read and understand. We also had my 3 month old son with us, who got hungry while we were there, so we went downstairs and I nursed him on a bench by the restroom with my cover on. A lady walked in, who worked in the museum, and very politely said "You're fine there, but we do have a lactation room upstairs if you're more comfortable." We went upstairs and into the room that had a nursing chair, hand sanitizer, and tissues. It was small and private and perfect!! I was so appreciative that they had this, because many places don't. We love this museum and learn so much every time we come!

Angie B.

Yelp
Thank you Beatrice for an amazing tour! The space was filled with so much history. We left feeling enlightened and informed. Would recommend to all walks of life to learn more about the history of Mexico and California. Make sure to bring cash for donations!!!!

Michael T.

Yelp
LA Plaza De Culturas y Artes (LA Plaza for short) is a very cool free museum! It is a Mexican American museum and cultural center. There are a ton of free museums in the area, but I think this one wins for best experience. It is much bigger than it looks and there is a lot of information! I wish the Italian American Museum upped their game to rival this one in size. We really enjoyed ourselves here. The staff member was SUPER nice and charming too. The Gateway to Nature is a small nature center with various activities or children to learn about nature. It's pretty cool as they're not trying to sell you anything... they just want you to come in, learn and have a good time. My toddler was getting a bit antsy from all the museums we were visiting, so this was a nice break where he could go in, sit down and color 'til his heart was content. He was even given a free comic book about Smokey The Bear! This isn't a huge place, but I'm very thankful that this was here. Make this into a day trip! My toddler and I literally visited 6 museums! There are small museums all around here and almost all of them are free! Start your journey with a walk down Olvera Street! Catch the Avila Adobe, maybe have lunch or a snack. Then walk across the way and visit The Chinese American Museum, the Plaza Firehouse Museum and the new Gateway to Nature (which is a nature center full of things for kids to do). Then walk across the street to La Plaza De Culturas y Artes museum. Maybe poke your head into Our Lady of Angeles Church. I'm very Atheist, but this is historic as it's literally what named and started Los Angeles. Then continue down Main street and hit up the American Tropical Historical Museum and end with the Italian American Museum! There are a few other things in there too I think I missed. A great day!

Sal M.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience I had this past Sunday when I watched "Cómo Una Mujer" Homenaje a Rocio Durcal. The place is nice, concert stage is a good size and any seat is fine if you ever catch a music event here. It's open air so depending on the year make sure to bring a light sweater. Parking is basically nonexistent, tried two lots and both were closed, claiming lot full but you can see spaces wide open. I would suggest you park two blocks away or use uber or lyft to get here.

Sergio G.

Yelp
I love the Museum, the little I got to see. Stoped by on Friday around 230p and 20 min into my visit the security guard told me to leave Cause they were closing early. There posted hours were open 12-5p so left disappointed. From what I did get to see, it's a great addition to the La Museum scene.

Crystal S.

Yelp
It's great to have museums opening again. It's very easy to get an online reservation and entry is free. They currently have a showing of Carlos Almarez's work as well as exhibits about Los Angeles. It's very close to Little Tokyo and Chinatown, but I always choose taquitos at Cielito Lindo at Olvera just across the street. You can't go wrong with a day trip to this museum and lunch somewhere nearby.

Josie S.

Yelp
Came here for a conference for Work and it was a great venue to have it! The room was nicely sized and the temperature was always perfect. Only drawback was the uncomfortable chairs. They were definitely not meant for an 8 hour day of sitting. We were also able to experience the museum as a part of having our conference there. The museum was well done, perfectly told the story of the Hispanic history in LA. The most moving for me was the feature of the LA Dodger stadium history. The gift shop was well curated with a find for everyone!

Mindy G.

Yelp
This place is a Gem in los Angeles truly, we never get tired of going. They always keep things up and always showcase new exhibitions, if you go upstairs there is so much to learn and see how different our world is today. we went to the Blood in Blood out screening and we got to meet cruzito along with some good music and food. If you are in LA this is a must see!

Robert S.

Yelp
I have not been yet ,but The Pharmacy was my Grandfathers, Robert A Salazar. My Dad Robert S. Salazar just passed and we are just finding out about this bit of Family history.

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Super cool spot with amazing culture. We came here for a screening event for The Rise and Fall of the Brown Buffalo. Nicely hosted event in the outdoor patio area where we got to mingle with the producer, director, and actors/actresses. I'd definitely want to explore more of this place on my next visit to further educate myself on the Mexican culture.

Jen K.

Yelp
Came across this museum by chance and it's great free space to check out and learn about LA/US history especially in relation to the Latinx community. Great place to take your kids/youth and there's interactive areas, that this big kid enjoyed as well. Appreciate at the time, one of the exhibits talked about the monumental case Mendez vs. Westminster, which help end school segregation in CA (OC representing). Social justice and youth activism is seen throughout the generations in their exhibits. Great history lesson which is often neglected or ignored in our kid's history class. Staff was super cool and friendly and love their gift shop too, as they have great selection of gifts from local artists. They even have workshops though usually on weekdays. If I didn't work/live in OC, I would trek up for them. Budget an hour or two to learn about our communities.

Sonia A.

Yelp
I was here this weekend, and I have to say I loved reading and learning about Mexican history. It is the obligation for every Mexican to visit this place and get educated. It saddens me that what we are going through now, our people had experienced it 80 years ago. Unfortunately, many people do not know that California and other states where basically stolen from Mexico. Lastly, the building is beautiful , modern, clean and very interactive you will definitely enjoy.

Kim G.

Yelp
Amazing public programming, educational workshops and space- right in the heart of Dtwn LA. It's a must visit!!

Erika G.

Yelp
This place was beautiful. I was here last night in attendance for the TASTE OF MEXICO event. This garden was absolutely beautiful and enclosed with such a beautiful gate even!. The restrooms were conveniently located and easily accessible, they were also kept very clean. This little garden area where the event was held had personality and really was a perfect location for last nights evening. I will definitely add this venue to my list of places to visit again. Next time I visit I'm going to visit the inside and check out the history within. Thumbs up for having the Taste of Mexico there last night. :)

Yelp
Our Nahuatl study group Tlahtoltapazolli is so grateful to be in this wonderful Mexican-American museum/cultural center! I recommend you all come check it out not only because it's free admission, but because the staff is cordial and welcoming! You can come check out the exhibits they have at the museum, then go to their gift shop La Tienda, and if you are there this Sunday, you can check out the tianguis Molcajete Dominguero! And of course, our beginner's Nahuatl class every Sunday at 12PM! Thank you all at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes for being so nice and welcoming to us! ,

Amber F.

Yelp
WOW!!! I didn't know what a treat I was getting in when I entered the museum. I learned that it is one of the first high-rises built in LA back in the day...talk about history. Even-though this building is OLD it has been renovated and it is beautiful to see how they preserved a lot of the original building. I don't know much of Mexican American culture and after visiting the exhibits and the recreation of what Main street used to look like I feel I need to read more to understand what California is about. I will be coming back for the summer to learn more about this culture and maybe I will even add a little of my history in their historias booth (don't really remember the name of the place where you can record your history and it becomes part of the museum. I thought that was cool) I believe the museum is FREE but they have a suggested donation of $10 which is not a lot when you think what you are in for.

Katie Z.

Yelp
Great place. You are able to experience a decent multi-cultural slice of LA.

Gabriela K.

Yelp
In the past couple of months I have been to various events at LA Plaza de Cultura and each time I am more impressed by the organization. The museum, which is free, is rich in cultural and historical content which is presented in an engaging way. There are many ways to interact with the exhibits making it informative and fun. As a Latina, I found the content incredibly moving and so incredibly important for the community. I will be attending many more events in the future and I will be bringing my kids too so they can learn all about our cultural heritage.

Christian A.

Yelp
Recently held an event at La Plaza and it is by far one of the best places to hold an event in Los Angeles. The staff is incredibly respectful, professional, accommodating, and helpful. It is a beautiful museum and space. I want to make it a point to hold an event here whenever I can.

David K.

Yelp
Quite a disappointing experience. The exhibits were dull and boilerplate. The historic narrative of the exhibits struck me as very superficial. Scholarly rigor was lacking. Nothing I saw here was beyond boilerplate agitprop you'd find in a high school textbook. Given the controversies about Indian grave sites and how insensitively that was handled, I guess I should not be surprised. The structure itself was another disappointment. I'd wished they kept more of the historic interior. Alas, it appears the interior was simply gutted. So much of the place seemed to be built as a setting for politicos to gather and pat themselves on the back. Management of the place seemed slipshod and lackadaisical. With all the foot traffic on Olvera Street with tourists, you'd figure the place would be busy. Nope. Quiet as a library. The gift shop was another disappointment. With so many superb local artists, you'd assume this would be a nifty resource. Nope. Another missed opportunity. Everyone working here seemed to be watching the clock. A place like this needs to be guided by passion. What I'd hoped the place was going to do was tell the stories of individuals and their story of coming to Los Angeles and becoming Angelenos. Years ago in NZ, I came across this kind of museum and it was truly wonderful. The potential to tell the stories of Latino LA is immense. Regrettably, that hasn't happened here.

Yelp
Now Free!! (donations accpeted) Great museum to learn about Southern California's history and its history of the people that first settled the southern part of this great state. LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a very clean up to date museum that shows the history of the Mexican culture in Southern California with special focus on Los Angeles.. What is cool about this museum is that most of the Los Angeles history its displays is right outside of the building.. such as the Pico house,, Olvera st. etc.. So once you are done reading about the people that settled in downtown LA you can actually walk right outside and go see the actually buildings that the people lived in as well as sample some authentic mexican food..If you really want to feel the experience go visit the first mexican cafe right there in Olvera st. There are 3 levels to this museum with one level that is just dedicated to a hands on experience where you can touch and feel as well as dress the part of people of the time.. There was also an outside area that had a kids section as well as a stage with live performances. Staff were very friendly and helpful and unlike other museums they give you a glimpse of what to expect before entering. There is parking all around this area, you can expect to pay about $10.00 on average or if you ride the train take it to union station and do the short walk to the the plaza.

Yelp
This review is on the event they had today called Battle of the Burgers a contest between local burger restaurants in the area. There were about 12 different vendors giving out samples of their food. I only took between one to two bites of each and was full. Some burgers were not tasty at all they were undercooked or flavorless. Some had bread bigger than the meat and some had way too many toppings you missed the actual meat. My favorite was from EVERSON Royce Bar simple flavored patty with cheese on a brioche bun loved it. They're right across the street from the cute little Ice Cream Museum check out my yelp on that if you haven't seen it. I'm an avid water drinker I don't drink beer and they gave us three free drink tickets so I can't comment on their beer BUT they had this sparkling mineral water called Topo Chico USA and it was refreshing a bit too carbonated but still refreshing. I now know I don't like Bison or rum guava sauce. My second was the karma burger from Hache LA another simply done burger without the dramatics. The had one vendor sampling their dips giving away fries as the sample the fries were good the dips ok. I loved the popcorn ice cream with the frozen smoking popcorn really cute with nice small sample size. The highlight the music it was awesome the one singer saw me recording and really got into it lol so overall it was an ok event I would go again.

Yelp
I went to the museum today March 31, 2013. There were only 2 of us visiting (about 1 p.m.). Soon after 3-4 people showed up. There seems to be a reason besides access, cost (parking fee???), or location that keeps people from visiting. See also my Review dated 3/29/13. For me there is a cultural barrier that exists between the community and the museum. Visitors from the Church next door or Olvera Street do not enter the museum grounds. I could understand some or many people not being interested or wanting to bother, but virtually everyone? How does the museum go out into the community and connect with the people? It looks like the museum needs to earn it's audience rather than just keeping it's doors open. Perhaps an advisory committee from the community could help suggest worthwhile ideas and spur interest. ps: This was my 4th visit and audience was poor all visits.

Yelp
What a neat little place by Olvera Street in DTLA!!! There is so much to do in the Plaza- there are at least 6 museums (ok, they're pretty small, but still), an old historic church, and the Metro is right there so its easy to get to and from. There are lots of little shops and restaurants too. It was a great place to spend the day and to interact with Los Angeles Heritage!

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a Saturday. We had the opportunity to visit several museums, try some local foods, and spend time enjoying the entertainment. I even had the opportunity to visit the first house built in Los Angeles. If you are looking for something to do check out what is going on here on the weekends. Be prepared for large amounts of people, lines for most food venues, some crowding around venders, and parking starts at $10-20. Hopefully you can find street parking to save some cash for food. :)

Yelp
This Museum was very informative in terms of Mexican American historical information. Glad I was able to come.

Yelp
I came for the Peloteros in Paradise baseball exhibit but ended up exploring the permanent galleries and learned quite a bit. The staff was really friendly, and I was practically alone on a weekday. It's an easy walk from Union Station if you'd rather not find a place to park. Did I mention that it's free?

Yelp
Attended the Frida Kahlo Under The Stars talk on Saturday August 11. We had a blast. We learned some interesting facts about her life. The presenter knew what he was talking about. We Love attending events here. The place always looks so nice and accepting. Looking into becoming members as well. Very Enjoyable Place to have events.

Yelp
What a beautiful museum & cultural experience! The staff is warm, inviting, & knowledgeable. The space is expansive & I really appreciated how the various collections were arranged & presented. The gift shop is also worth checking out. I wish I was feeling more up to par because I would've loved to have visited the outside area. I'm glad we all have this wonderful museum!

Yelp
This Museum has lots to see about the Mexican American Latin Culture! It's walking distance from Olvera Street or better known as La Placita and it's not expensive to get in. I get updates from them all the time because i'm on their email list and they are constantly having different monthly events. It's also a great place to spend the day and then walk down the street and get some great Mexican food!

Yelp
This museum is important for everyone who wants to understand Mexican-American, Chicano, Latino culture in the US particularly Los Angeles. I loved this museum and brought my father and sister here. All of us are US born and aren't the best Mexicanos culturally speaking but felt this museum gave a voice to Chicano culture. Within walking distance to Olvera Street so you can soak up more culture via food, items, clothing. Love, love LOVE it! Go now!
