"In True Myrtle Beach fashion, the spot with the spiciest menudo and tacos that taste like they were made for a quinceañera in Guadalajara share the same strip mall as a karate dojo and a Honduran restaurant cooking up chop suey (yes, chop suey). There’s also venerable favorites like styrofoam cups of horchata, sizzling skillets of fajitas, and tortas almost too big to finish." - Andre James

Google
It's the authentic food place in Myrtle Beach area. Some other places are good, but this one is the best and under rated. Their tacos are full of flavor and one bite isn't enough. When everyone speaks Spanish, from servers to cooks, you know it's authentic! Will come back here again.

Google
Perfect! Everything we ordered was excellent. The restaurant has plenty of locals. Lots of gluten free options. We should have ordered extra guacamole. It was so good we were almost fighting over it.

Sheryl Lee

Google
The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The servers were extremely busy and there was a little wait time for everything, but highly recommended!

Google
Im from minnesota was looking for fajitas in area. Ordered 2 of the fajitas Mexicanias.. they really filled these to go boxes. The red sauce is hot hombre and I'm use to a little spice with my meals. Loved it..not gonna lie when I got back to my hotel I saw they mistakenly gave me six taco Pollo that were meant for someone else. Was a little dry but a win is a win. The establishment was packed. When I came in to get my order after 20 min they hadn't started it yet but another 5 min I was set. Recommend this place . Viva la mexico

Google
My favorite Mexican place in Myrtle Beach. Mojara is my favorite dish. Price is right with the portion. Make sure you are hungry because you get a good size meal. Best on the beach. You gotta try them of you are looking for good authentic Mexican food.

Google
My wife, mom and I had done take out her during our vacation and it was very delicious, I got the al pastor burrito, and my wife & mom each got minudo. They loved it! Very affordable and delicious. I didn't have high expectations for them but they turned to have great food. Would definitely stop by whenever I visit Myrtle Beach again.

Google
My husband and I like to eat here because it’s always consistent. The staff are very friendly! The service is great! The atmosphere is clean. The food is so delicious! It’s all excellent every time. I highly recommend anyone to come here.

Google
Very mid service, our waitress had trouble understanding english and had issue with the order. Otherwise, the food was really good for the price you pay for.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. First things first, I walked in and saw a large latino clientele, many of them with their family's so I knew I was in the right place. Let me just say I won't get certain things if I don't think it's going to be done right here I trusted the vibes immediately so I got a taco de langua, a beef taco and a chicken taco. The cow tongue was the best. I also got 2 empanadas one chicken one beef, the beef was better. My husband got the Enchiladas De Mole and said it was the best mole he ever had. He likes it more cinnamon than chocolate. This entire meal cost $41, I would have been just as happy if it was $80, it was well worth it. Service was fast, friendly and attentive!

Laura K.

Yelp
Probably the best food we've had in the low country. Super fresh and flavorful and really nice wait staff. We had chile rellenos, enchiladas, sopas, quesadillas and fried fish. Everything was excellent. Will def return!!!

Susie C.

Yelp
This place hits the spot. Came here for lunch on a weekday while on vacation with our family of 4. This place looks legit. My kids had their watermelon drink and loved it. They had quesadilla and tacos. Food was good. Not a fancy place - very casual and gets it done. It gets quite busy as well on a weekday for lunch. There's a parking lot outside. Our waitress was nice.

Lewis A.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Myrtle Beach. It's off the beaten path and away from the strip but the food was amazing and the cost was less than anything on the strip. Don't let the outside turn you away, believe me this place is great.

Julie R.

Yelp
This simple "mom & pop" place was filled with Hispanics when we walked in. It was obviously not a chain restaurant but an authentic Mexican restaurant. Complimentary chips and salsa (3 different types) were very good. Enchiladas with Mole Sauce were excellent with perfect amount of spice not to overcome the mole flavors. The Cheese Empanada was very good. Carne Asada Sopes was excellent. Carnitas Gorditas was very good. All the meats were wonderfully flavored and portions were large.

Lupe M.

Yelp
Well let me start with how incredible the food was and how fresh it was. Everything came quick and the dishes were pretty big, I could not finish. I will be going back if I decide to visit Myrtle Beach again. Muy sabroso delicioso

Yelp
Found this hole in the hall through other Yelp reviews. Little place off the tourist trap path. I am VERY lucky with my Mexican food and I have to say I want this place in Northern CO! The chips and salsa was great! You get chips, salsa and 3 different sauces in pour bottles. Salsa is mild and there is a mild, medium and hot sauces too. All of the food was simply delicious. Tortillas are homemade and I figure the chips are as well. Giant portions for small change. 3 enchilada with beans and rice was under $13 and I couldn't eat it all! Only downside is no liquor...a margarita or beer would have hit the spot. We will probably be returning during our vacation here and will recommend.

Yelp
Sometimes you eat somewhere and it's so good, that you kinda want to keep it a secret. This is that place. Just go Great family run restaurant. Tip them all, they work hard. And the food is amazing.

Jon L.

Yelp
Talk about delicious food! La Poblanita is a truly authentic Mexican restaurant with wonderful food. I tried the lengua gorditas, which I totally recommend. The food was remarkable but the service was even better! Our waitress, Brenda, was super friendly, positive, and made the meal just that more enjoyable. Constantly coming to check on us, bringing us refills, and just chatting! This is definitely a must try in Myrtle beach!

Rachel W.

Yelp
The service was great, the food came fast (even on Easter Sunday!) And the food was delicious. The right amount of soft and crunch on the empanadas. Highly recommend this secret spot.

P P.

Yelp
Pro -good food Cons -unsystematic waiting list -we do not speak Spanish & asked our waitress -Brenda to speak in English but she "refused" to speak English. She was rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming. -1 vegetarian option but it was light & refreshing -long line to pay bill Would NOT go back there!

Kristen N.

Yelp
This place has authentic Mexican food, full of flavor and spicy!!! It's tucked away in a strip mall but has nice decor giving it a homey feel. Service was good. Also there was a guy taking pictures and making them up for you while you ate. Our dinner was good and our bill reasonable. We just weren't enamored with what we ordered. We will not be back.

Steven L.

Yelp
Yelp has done it again! We are in town for a cheer competition & my daughter was in the mood for tacos and boy oh boy La Poblanita did not fail. We were seated right away and our waitress was pleasant. She bought out a basket of tortilla chips and 4 types of salsas ranging from mild to very hot. Our order consisted of 5 carne asada tacos, a carne asada sope, chicken burrito and maduros. Food came out within 15 mins and the portions were larger for the price. Everything was delicious. We will definitely come back to have another authentic Mexican meal!

Mike K.

Yelp
After reading the reviews on Yelp, we went to La Poblanita for dinner. I read that you shouldn't judge from the outside and I agree. It's out of the way in a small strip center. We were quickly served chips a 3 kinds of salsa, al of which were good, but one of them very spicy. We ordered the Mole enchiladas and a quesadilla and both were great. The mole sauce was one of the best I've ever had. The service was good as well.

Jessica G.

Yelp
The best Mexican and most authentic around! I grew up in CA and it's hard to find good places. This is hands down so good. The food takes awhile but it's bc you can tell it's made to order. The meat always tastes freshly cooked, and not overdone under a heat lamp.

sara m.

Yelp
I have been to Myrtle and have struggled to find a good Mexican food spot. I am picky but this genuinely made the up for all the mediocre food I had during my trip. The aguas frescas were very reasonably priced and you can tell they were made with REAL fruit and not just a powder and water mix. The food itself came out hot and not only looked amazing but tasted fantastic. The service was alright I could tell the waitresses were trying. My first language is Spanish so that definitely helped and the ladies were very nice and came to fill my agua fresca and make sure the food was good. Would definitely recommend!

Scott S.

Yelp
This place is legit! Not your typical Mexican, and I mean that in a great way. Lots of things you won't find on a typical menu, and some you might expect but won't get (no alcohol). 10/10 def recommend.

Erica J.

Yelp
We found la Poblanita by chance one night and seek this restaurant out each time we visit Myrtle Beach ever since. Excellent, authentic food; the chorizo sopes are our favorite. Just wish they wouldn't have a photographer visiting tables. It's not really the kind of place that warrants a photo to bring home and just feels touristy when you aren't in a touristy area.

Carla N.

Yelp
Food was delicious, even the left overs were good the next day. Tortillas were hand made. With our chips we got three different salsas. The green avocado was my favorite. The horchata was on point. But they had several other options. They were very busy but still fast.

Tamisha L.

Yelp
We ate at this restaurant last Friday. We are from out of town and wanted to try some thing else other than seafood. Everything was delicious especially my Carne Asada gordita. My sister's boyfriend said it was the best one he's ever had. He frequently eats Mexican food in New York where he lives. We were both pleasantly surprised to get the horchata refills. i've been to a few Mexican restaurants and they've never returned with the pitcher to refill the horchata. I also got the lingua and intestines gorditas. The visit came with free chips and salsa. Enough for four people pre-entres. We came around 5 PM so the dinner rush hadn't arrived yet. Our server was awesome. Would highly recommend it my sister's boyfriend asked if we could stop by the restaurant for more the next day before heading home.

Danny D.

Yelp
The chicken Milanese was awesome. The cutlet was great and well seasoned. The rice and beans were great. It also came with corn tortillas and spicy peppers. The pineapple juice was fresh and home made. Delicious!!!!

Lynne B.

Yelp
The food was absolutely fantastic. The servers were very busy but attentive. There might not be any ambience, but the food makes up for it.

Ginger L.

Yelp
This place was wonderful! Very authentic. I used the translator on my phone to communicate. We had empanadas, gorditas, fish fillets, garlic shrimp, rice and beans. Mmmmmmm!!! These salsa was yummy! The service was fantastic

Steve F.

Yelp
Wow! This small restaurant is the real deal. Our meal was outstanding. The tortillas were homemade and delicious. My grilled marinated pork was tender and had fabulous flavor while my wife's seafood and chicken fajita was equally scrumptious. This was the best Mexican food that we have had for many years. The service and ambiance was great. 5 star ++

Dusan M.

Yelp
Best mexican in myrtle beach. NEVER DISAPOINTS. Steak burito my favorite, but everything rocks here

Travis C.

Yelp
The food was extremely flavorful! The waiters were really nice and overall we were very satisfied. Check this place out if you're in Myrtle Beach, SC. Tip: Go where the locals go.

Lou M.

Yelp
Wow. Needed a local mexican place and this place didn't disappoint. This was for takeout- We ordered the beef empanadas-amazingly delicious, meaty. The beef gorditas stuffed with meat, juicy. And the chicken tacos just as good. Get the rice on side, nice. Wish i took pics like i do for reviews i do,but we devoured food when we gor home. Oh well. Next time. Restaurant was clean, easy to park, staff friendly. Def our go to mexican when we are in Myrtle.

Presley C.

Yelp
Never fails to disappoint! A regular staple for us as a delicious & affordable lunch/dinner option here in Myrtle. Authentic, fresh, clean, and the staff is always super friendly.

Kerlin M.

Yelp
The food is GOOD. We got 15 tacos- Al pastor, tripa, and lengua. Everything was delicious, even the sauces on the side. We also got a shrimp cocktail, which honestly is one of the best I've tried. The problem came to the service. The waitresses ignore you for the most part. I saw people get seated and wait 30 minutes for a simple drink. I waited 2 hours almost for tacos and I had given them the hour before going in to pick it up.

Kai K.

Yelp
It was busy when we sat down but even busier when we left, a little slow getting to the table (no wait for the table just no one to seat us) and waiting on the server, which made me hesitant at first but it was worth it. The Spanish descriptions came before the English on the menu so that through me briefly. Could of ordered half the menu and been happy. Food was great prices were good. Ate way more than I should of. Tortillas were good, pork we got had a little gristle but mostly good. Carne asada sopa was more flavorful than the al pastor. Probably wouldn't get the al pastor next time. Would definitely come back.

Laura G.

Yelp
I haven't been to Mexico but I imagine the food here is as authentic as it gets. We loved how they brought three kinds of salsas out and bowls to pour and/or mix. The hot is definitely hot and good when mixed with the green crema one. I had the Al pastor taco, a pollo Gordita and a pollo tostada and they all were great, the meat, especially the chicken, was seasoned perfectly and juicy. I managed to finish all three because they were so good but was miserably full afterwards. My husband said his Al pastor and chorizo mix taco was awesome. He also loved his carne asada gorditas. He did make the mistake of thinking the grilled jalapeño on his plate wasn't going to be too hot and regretted eating the whole thing at once. My fellow yelpers didn't do me wrong with the ratings on this place. Definitely a must try!

Fatima F.

Yelp
100% authentic Mexican food. The agua frescas and horchata were the best I have had at Myrtle Beach. I had tacos and my partner had empanadas. Highly recommend.

Lucia B.

Yelp
i am a tough critic, but this food is AMAZING. my party of 10 received excellent and fast service, and all of our meals were delicious, well spiced, and fresh. we ordered a variety of dishes including enchiladas, gorditos, plantains, tacos, burritos and more. everything was great and portions were huge. do not be turned off by the roadside/strip mall location-- the restaurant is clean, cozy, and cheerful. kind waitresses. be sure to try the horchata.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Food is authentic and tasty the servers are pleasant and attentive. The chips and nachos are great. And it is extremely reasonable

Dan S.

Yelp
There are zero reasons to go to one of Myrtle Beach's seafood buffets. There are zero reasons to go to one of their pancake houses either. Get your asses off of route 17 and find the real food. And La Poblanita has just that. Who knew that legit Mexican could be had in the tourist mecca of Myrtle Beach, SC? Not me! Went with a party of 8 who would have been happy at TGI Friday's or Jersey Mike's...but it was the smell - yes, the smell - that sold them on this place as we walked in. The food is ridiculously good. The prices are ridiculously low. And the service was spot on attentive. I can only speak to the tacos (carnitas, carne asada, and chorizo) and chicken mole, which were all amazing. Everything else looked just as good, and I can only assume was just as tasty. Only bummer is no liquor license, but from the broken English (and high school Spanish) conversation we had with our server, I think you can BYOB...not positive... So good that a few of us went back a second time (and we were only in town for 3 days!)...

Jerrin H.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place based off other reviews and will not be back. They struggled with getting our order right and we finished this meal still hungry and wanting something good. After $60 it was pretty unfortunate.

Chuck R.

Yelp
Forget all those chain Mexican restaurants all over Myrtle. Off the beaten path, you will find authentic Mexican here. Pros: so many choices. I never had huaraches, but I have now! Homemade chips and salsas are so fresh. The carne asada and pollo were so nice and spicy. The queso fresco empanada was like eating ricotta so good! Even had liter glass bottle of Coke! This is where's the locals eat. Cons: I didn't try everything on the menu! In what looks like a sketchy part of town, but actually isn't! Summary: I am so glad I found this place. Will be my go-to Mexican restaurant from now on.

Francisco F.

Yelp
Amazing mexican food, hidden gem, go hungry or else, good mexican food for myrtle beach

Joanne O.

Yelp
Got carry out. Food was on point Had the burrito, tacos and sopas. Everything was delicious and fresh. Even on a busy night service and wait time was reasonable and efficient. Will definitely been our go to whenever we are in Myrtle Beach

Larry S.

Yelp
Stopped by here on the way to Myrtle Beach airport to drop off our daughter. Not very impressive at first glance, part of a strip plaza. We arrived about 2:00 PM and apparently at the end of lunch boom - place was packed. Most were small tables or booths but we spotted a table for six that was not cleaned, so we sat down. About 10 minutes later a server came and cleared the table then returned to wipe it down. I grabbed menus so we had an idea of what we wanted. We ordered a burrito, chicken enchiladas mole, platillo de poblanita, and chicken tostadas. Decided to try different drinks so we had 2 fruit drinks, pineapple and rice, both were excellent. I also had a Jarito Tamarind, which I had in the past and enjoyed. We were quickly served fresh tortilla chips and three salsas, regular, an Avacado based one and a hot one, which had a nice bite. Unfortunately our food took roughly an hour to arrive so we nibbled chips for a long time. Food finally came. Some very good Mexican fare, not great. Refried beans were very thin. I must admit there were a good variety of flavors, as we shared bites with each other, but my palate still prefers more Tex-mex fare. Interesting but not a place I would go back to visit again. And a bit pricey at over $80 for four meals and drinks.

Juan G.

Yelp
I watched them past my food for 15 minutes went home and all my food was cold.i called them to complain they put the phone down and started talking in between them, but she picked up and fast after I f'ed em off.the quality from the serves has gone downhill all they do is chit chat in between them while people are waiting for their orders.

Somi R.

Yelp
Authentic little Mexican place. Nothing fancy, but the food was excellent. Complain I have was they were very stingy with the chips. Also service was less than desirable.

Diane H.

Yelp
Carnitas tacos are legit! Salsas are nice and spicy! Al Pastor Burritos were a disappointment, but maybe that's because we didn't want them filled up with rice - prefer extra frijoles - and we asked them to substitute mozzarella - isn't that an Italian thing - with Mexican cheese. Al Pastor was overly seasoned as well, but we will be back - just won't be having the burritos!

Liz H.

Yelp
I never would have expected to find legit Mexican food in Myrtle Beach, but I did. There isn't a single combo on the menu. Just authentic, homey, Mexican favorites like Mole and tortas. If you're looking for something better than a #1, taco and enchilada platter, this place is for you. BTW, the spicy salsa is FIRE!!!

Amanda B.

Yelp
Excellent place. Service was very nice and friendly. Food was authentic Mexican. They even had my green enchiladas which were amazing

Cathy G.

Yelp
Real Mexican food! Generous portions and good mole. We tried an empanada and Gordita, both were yummy. My new favorite place to go!

A A.

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in a long time! We had alambre and gorditas. The food was full of flavor, piping hot, fresh ingredients. The service was excellent, well coordinated, and didn't miss a bit. Will definitely come again.

VyVy V.

Yelp
October 2020 - COVID Review: We were visiting from the DC area for the first time and we were delighted to find good and authentic tacos in the area! The great Yelp reviews are what made us add this to the list of places to try. We had a huge lunch so we ended up just having two tacos each for a lighter dinner. We got carne asada and al pastor tacos. Both were individually delicious but my favorite was the carne asada due to how flavorful it was. Would definitely come back for more the next time we're around!

Tom D.

Yelp
laPoblanita was one of the best Mexican Restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was authentic just like the reviews stated. My entrée (fajita) came out just like the picture how often does that happen?? Our Waitress was so pleasant and answered all of our questions about the menu.
